First, implore Jehovah God in prayer and tell him about your desire to quit smoking and solicit his help in doing so.
Second,gradually cut down on the number of cigarettes you smoke in a day. For instance if you were smoking say 20 sticks a day you can gradually reduce it to 15 then 10 then 5 then 2 until you stop smoking.
Third,cut off association with your old friends who are smokers and can easily lure you back into the habit.
Fourth, make new friends who are non smokers and who will encourage/stand by you as you wish to stop this habit.
Fifth, Avoid tempting situations.Do not go to places you know people smoke.
Sixth,Tell people around you of your desire to quit your old habit and do not be ashamed to reject a cigarette given to you.
Last but not the least meditate on this Bible verse;2nd Corinthians 7:1
Wish you all the best in your journey to quit smoking. You've made the right decision and may Jehovah God help you to shake off this habit.

JW? I don't grant them audience whenever they come telling their gospel to me because it does not tally with my own gospel and believe.So it's no use giving them a listening ear .
It will all end in debating the scripture which the Bible frowns against.

Meanwhile, there's this elderly man who is a member.I granted him audience because of his age. It won't look good if I turn him down. So we exchange pleasantries,he introduced himself and got to know a bit of me. We had bit of discussion,and he finally handed me one of these their journal to read.I receprocrated the gesture with an appreciation (thank you) .

Thinking it will all end there, but this man will not let me be.He comes around most time on Saturdays.Often than not, , I will have to give one excuse or the other to free myself from him. But this is becoming one too many,and my patience is fast running out.One of these day I plan to let him know I have no interest in whatever he wants to relate to me in regards to the gospel he goes about preaching , and that it's been a while I had peace on weekends.

Jw's do not force any to listen to the Bible's message
We respect everyone's stand when it comes to matters concerning the Bible.
We believe that if one does not listen today he or she may do so sometime in future
So you can tell the man you aint interested and save him the stress of 'worrying' you.

Op that's a very good question.yes I have noticed it too,even during my sec school days,most of the jw pple I knew don't sing praise and worship songs sang during assembly, instead they keep quiet.they rather listen secular music than gospel music.i think it's becos most of the gospel musicians are not members of jw,so they don't see them as thier member, the songs are not ordained by the jw body and they have thier own songs sang in Church.i just think it's not a part of Jehovah's witness doctrines.

Though a lot of jw's have outlined the reasons for our not playing gospel music I will want to remphasize them;
They promote doctrines that are not bible based such doctrines include;Trinity,immortality of the soul,spiritism,the notion that all good people will go to heaven.
We do not listen to them because they(singers ) ain't Jw after all we listen to selected secular songs that do not promote immorality,materialism,vulgar language and debased lyrics

No... Imagine a normal morning devotion going on, such that some Muslims partake in but you find the JW members gisting on like nothing was going on in their presence...
They don't believe/partake in any Christian gathering(other than theirs) and they would never say Amen to your prayer..THAT IS FACT

we do not say AMEN to prayers that start with 'in Jesus name ' and end same way because that is not the proper way to pray.

Very good observation but they have their own version of gospel songs in the form of hymns. They hardly play them at home instead all the latest jamboree songs

Do you live in the homes of all jw's to know that they do not play their songs?Get your facts right before you say them.
Mind you our songs are not in the form of hymns alone.
