IMO Gas is more ecologically friendly than coal. Though we still need to find viable options for our coal deposits.

Well I wanted to open this thread but had stalled until I saw on front page the worst TV ads.

Some companies still get it right, and a lot of research is now put into creating catchy ads.

What have been your favourite adverts, say, in the last one year?

I'll take the new UBA and STANBIC ads, as well as the recent Free tomorrow ad by GLO.

it may be correct that less than 30% of the budget will be financed by oil sales. However there's no doubt the positive impact an increase in oil prices will have on our foreign reserves.

It is no news that there has been escalating tension between the Saudis and the Iranians over the execution of some suspected terrorists.
News outlets have been reporting since yesterday, a rally in oil prices as a result of these developments.

MY TAKE
I believe that Nigeria being a prominent OPEC member can benefit a lot from this current row. Considering the budget was premised on a benchmark of 36/37 USD PB, increased oil prices can help us fund our bloated budget deficit.

Conclusively, If not for the attendant loss of lives, an escalation of the Middle East crisis should be welcomed by Nigerians.

NB: don't crucify me, war mongering around the world built most developed capitalist economies.

I think for him, its a more engaging presentation. I saw the VP taking notes. I would rather record it and replay later than miss a word of what's being said. Doesn't change the fact of our misplaced priorities.

He makes a great point on performance-based bonuses for both private and public sector staff, including Ministers. Says quantifiable targets should be set and evaluated.

I know many young people won't be interested in this Summit. It may never make FP. If it was a political or celebrity-focused news, then it would attract traffic.
