Are Millennials and Recent Graduates Planning for the Future? Study after study confirms that millennials don’t invest they don’t care about their pensions, they aren’t planning for the future and they don’t know how much they need to live on. Millennials are spending their money on possessions, not investments. This leaves millennials in an extremely compromised position because they aren’t investing, and what they do save isn’t yielding the returns required to build meaningful wealth for their retirement Firstly, it is far from proven that young people are any less good at dealing with their finances than their parents were. It’s certainly harder for them to manage them. Many of those now in their fifties and older had guaranteed “final salary” pensions to fall back on. These did not require any specific action on the part of the employee at all. Simply by working for 40 years, you would end up with an often extremely generous, guaranteed, inflation-proofed pension, which would be paid out to you throughout your retirement. Now, d if you want a decent amount to live on, you will have to take some action steps to secure your future. You can earn interest by putting money in a savings account, but savings accounts generally earn a lower return than investments. Saving is for short term, investments is for the Future Over the last decade, Money Market securities have consistently outperformed cash For example, the average interest rate for a savings product in Nigeria is between 4% and 10%, however in order to qualify for the 10 percent savings – you must have a minimum balance of N5,000,000. According to Taribo, he is bewildered that people are reluctant to publicly identify themselves with the practice, saying players and officials are deeply involved in the act. The 1998 UEFA Cup winner adds that he used to burn candles and hold a magical stone from Israel before games. On getting to Europe, Taribo had found himself entangled in a life of charms and superstitious beliefs. A move from Auxerre to Milan saw him playing for rivals AC and Inter — one of few players to achieve the feat — in a three-year stint in Italy. With a new-found life of affluence, the big defender paid huge sums of money for him to be supplied charms to win games, protect him from career-threatening injuries and also to be foretold the results of matches before they were played. Taribo told 'Tana: “Of course yes (I was involved). I don’t know why people decline to talk about their involvement with charms. Football has to do with a lot of powers. When there are big events, you look at the stadium, you see people, fans invoking all kinds of things; magicians are there, voodooists are there. In my playing days, when I was ignorant, I used to get some mallams and babalawos (traditional doctors) to make charms for us, which we took to (national) camp. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t. In some clubs, before every game, the president or leader of the club will give you a lucky charm to play with. They will tell you to put it in your boots or socks and play. It’s their superstitious belief; that it can help them win matches. There are some coaches who are connected to African magicians and soothsayers from Senegal, Burkina Faso, Zaire or even Nigeria. These people are consulted to give these coaches results of games even before the matches are played. These people see strange things and they can tell you with their magic and charms, what the outcome of a match will be. People believe and use it. It works for those who believe in it. I saw it, I experienced it, I was with players that used it and I used it. So, why are people denying it? There are charms and rituals in football. It still exists.” When Patience Ikemefuna, an evangelist who lives in America paid Taribo a visit in Milan, it marked a new phase in the 1996 Olympic Games gold medallist’s life. Ikemefuna was perplexed when she discovered that Taribo was deeply involved in occultism. There were charms in his wardrobe and other parts of his apartment. Even though her host resisted initially, she convinced him and after several praying sessions, Taribo gave his life to Christ. CONTINUE READING /p5yP15-sF

It’s been 10 days since she was violently raped by an okada rider who took her home from her aunty’s shop, but 14-year-old Esther (not real names) was still writhing in pain and sobbing when PUNCH visited her on Tuesday. With little signs of attaining puberty, she looked very young and innocent. Even though she tried as much as she could to hide her pains, a mix of anger and regret was still written boldly on her face, and she occasionally appeared lost in some painful thoughts. She sat quietly on a wooden stool in her aunty’s shop and looked round to make sure no one was listening or watching as she made to share the saddest story of her life . According to an unconfirmed alleged eyewitness account, A unidentified man came to the First City Monument Bank (FCMB), trade fair branch and threw the mother of all tantrums threatening to kill himself because he was given fake dollar notes totaling $30,000 by an Hausa Bureau de Change man he meet outside the bank premises. According to the unconfirmed reports on Nonsosblog.com , The victim said he went to the FCMB at trade fair complex on Friday, September 11th to buy dollars but the bank didn’t have enough money, so an Hausa man he met inside the bank told him he has 30,000 US dollars and he followed the Hausa man to his office to collect the money. When he collected the money, they went back to the bank where he transferred the naira equivalent of $30,000 into the Hausa man’s account. Whe the victim got home at about 7pm, he was shocked to find out the dollar notes were fake. So on Monday morning, he went to the Hausa man’s office and told him the money was fake, the Hausa man confirmed it was fake and said he bought the money from FCMB. They went to the bank, laid their complain, but the bank denied giving them the money. The man started shouting which caused the security men attached to the bank to push him outside and poured tear gas on his body. He removed his clothes and started crying. The bank locked him outside while the Hausa man remained inside. People gathered and demanded the bank to provide the Hausa man and officer who poured the tear gas on the victim but the bank refused. People started protesting outside the bank and the police were called. When the police arrived, it was learned the bank let the Hausa man out through the back door without people knowing. A group of NDLEA officials on raid has been accused of drowning a 32-year-old graduate of Law, Dapo Olasore, in the Agboyi, Alapere area of Lagos State. The sad incident happened on Sunday after the officials, who arrived in two vans without number plates, raided the area while shooting sporadically. Olasore, aka Omopo, was about boarding a canoe to a neighbouring community to see a relative, when the officials stormed the community. They were said to have shot sporadically into the air, sending frightened residents fleeing in different directions. However, Olasore, who was by the riverside, was said to have been held by the trousers by the NDLEA men; and in a bid to free himself, fell into the water. A boatman, who attempted to save him from the canal, was said to have been threatened with guns, leading to the death of the victim. The victim, who graduated from a university in Ondo State, joined the National Union of Road Transport Workers in 2014, after he could not get a job. His family was said to be resident in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. A witness and friend of the victim, Tosin Oshin, said: “A boat operator, who was about to rescue him, was threatened with guns. Omopo raised his hand and asked for help, but they didn’t help him.” Oshin said immediately the incident happened, the officials fled the community with two suspects. A resident, Omolara Adekunle, said the anti-narcotics officials were always harassing residents, adding that after making arrests, they usually collected about N40,000 for bail. “It is not only the NDLEA that come here to conduct this illegal raid. The police too are complicit; they have no fear of God. Those they arrest, they collect between N40, 000 to N45,000 from their relatives before they release them”. The NDLEA spokesperson, Mitchell Ofoyeju, confirmed that there was a raid on the community by the agency, but denied knowledge that anybody was drowned. He said: The NDLEA went in search of a notorious drug dealer, named Saheed, following an information on his activities, which has constituted nuisance to people in that neighbourhood. Unfortunately, we did not find him as of the time of getting to the place. One Babalola was arrested and he was found with 1.3 kilogrammes of cannabis. During the operation, some people escaped through the river because they knew their activities contravened the NDLEA Act. But we are not aware anybody drowned. http://norookiemedia.com/2015/09/14/ndlea-drowns-innocent-32-yr-old-graduate-in-a-canal-graphic-photo/

Two feminist activists have been beaten and dragged off scene when they removed their cloths and bra and jumped on stage in a bid to interrupt a Muslim conference held over the weekend in Paris. The two activists believed to be members of the famous feminist group ‘Femen‘ stormed and disrupted a Muslim conference in France where the men reportedly were discussing whether husbands are allowed to beat their wives according to Islam’s teaching. They ran on stage in front of two imams reportedly discussing whether it is right to beat a woman or not, screaming “No one can enslave me, no one can possess me, I am my own prophet!” A slogan also written on their naked chests. FEMEN claims its female activists were protesting against “womanophobia” and violence against women they say is widespread among Muslims, as stated in an online release. “FEMEN is calling for mass opposition against the uprising of those womanophobe integrisms and for a strong answer from our institutions. Womanophobia is illegal. Sexism is a kind of racism. Modern slavery is a crime. Let’s condemn them together, and let’s remind them without ever losing any ounce of strength: No one can enslave me, no one can possess me, I am my own prophet!” The FEMEN France message on Facebook said, calling the two feminists “our topless jihadists”. .. read more http://norookiemedia.com/2015/09/14/angry-topless-women-disrupt-muslim-conference-with-their-bare-breasts-graphic-photos-video/
