PoliticsBuhari Not Against The Use Of Card Readers As Alleged By The Opposition by chieyine(op): 7:26pm On Sep 09, 2018
State House Press Release

The Presidency rejects allegations of opposition politicians, as well as some newspaper editorial opinions creating the impression that President Buhari is against the use of card readers in the upcoming elections, hence his decision to decline assent, for the 3rd time, to the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill 2018.

We wish to state in clear & unambiguous terms that the issue of e-voting and use of card readers was NEVER an issue for the President’s decision to decline assent to the Bill.

PDP Fires hot at Buhari concerning Deporting Nigerians

It is equally important that this issue was not raised either by the Executive or the Legislature in the recent reviews. Moreover, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) adoption of e-voting reforms is enshrined in the 2015 Amendment Act to the Electoral Reform Act.
The Card reader is therefore a settled matter.

The President’s recent decision to decline assent to the Bill has no effect whatsoever on INEC’s use of card readers.
Regrettably, purveyors of fake news have been quick to churn out sensational headlines such as that of a leading newspaper, which screamed: “Card Reader in Jeopardy, Buhari Rejects Electoral Act Amendment Bill Again.”

An issue has been raised by the President concerning some ill-prepared and flawed parts of the bill for which corrections needed to be made to allow for his signature.
The President wanted engagement with the parliament for the corrections to be effected so that, at the end of the day, both arms of government will be happy with the fact that we have a good electoral law in place.

The President is not in confrontation with the parliament on this issue. He has asked his officials to dialogue with the legislature for the corrections to be effected.

Atiku Woos Another PDP Presidential Aspirant

As for his alleged rejection of the card reader, nothing could be further from the truth.
PMB is Nigeria’s number one fan of the card reader. For a candidate who ran 3 times and “lost” in an electoral environment in which votes were allocated and losers asked to go to court if they felt unhappy, he knows fully well the role that the CR played in his emergence in 2015.

He has said times without number that he would strengthen and widen its application in the country and this, he is determined to do.
Accordingly, we would like to appeal, especially to the media to disregard baseless allegations against the President, even as he puts in his best efforts in working with the National Assembly to give the nation a good electoral law, and in time.

The card reader is not in danger of being discarded. It is a sine qua non for credible elections.

We appeal to the National Assembly to reconvene as soon as possible to consider and approve the necessary corrections to the amended electoral act.

HealthEbonyi State Government Clamps Down On Abakiliki Rice Over Poison Scare by chieyine(op):
The Ebonyi State Government has on Tuesday August 28, 2018 sealed the Abakaliki Rice Mill Limited over an alleged infiltration of poisoned and adulterated rice into the mill.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Internal Security, Kenneth Ugbala (Dr), who announced the state government’s decision at a news briefing said that the closure was with immediate effect. Ugbala noted that the State Executive Council had received the news of the poisoned and adulterated rice with shock and deliberated extensively on it to save the lives of citizens.

“The SEC subsequently directed the concerned Ministries, Departments and Agencies of health, agriculture, commerce and industry and internal security to seal the rice mill for full investigations to be carried out. The Ministry of Environment, which first received the report informed us that the products are not fit for human consumption. The primary aim of every government is to protect the lives of its citizens as we want to prevent unsuspecting citizens from purchasing such products,” he said.

Commenting further on the situation, the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Emmanuel Onwe noted that the government did not know the source from where the products infiltrated the market and the type of poison involved. He allayed that the government as yet does not know whether they are rat or other types of poisons, yet informing that the Commissioner or Environment has quickly dispatched a team to the mill on receiving the news of the infiltration.

He disclosed that the team has confiscated some samples of the product and they have labels of ‘not fit for human consumption’ boldly written on them.

PoliticsPDP To Buhari: Your Comments On Illegal Migrants Insensitive by chieyine(op): 5:40pm On Sep 01, 2018
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP} says President Muhammadu Buhari’s statement to German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, that Nigerians caught up in their attempt to illegally enter Europe, are on their own, further exposes him as an insensitive leader, who cares less about the plights of his compatriots.

While the PDP does not, in anyway, support illegal migrations, our party holds that such does not warrant incendiary statement against our citizens by no less a person than the President; who should be seeking for ways to solve the problem.

The PDP notes that such statements by our President against Nigerians fuel violent attacks and inhumane treatment being meted out against our citizens abroad, including those with legitimate documents and engaged in lawful activities.

The party says that President Buhari has shown that he is not bothered that no fewer than 10,000 Nigerians died in the deserts between January to May 2017 alone, while trying to escape the economic hardship and escalated insecurity occasioned by his misrule.

Is it not disturbing to Mr President that reports by Nigerian Immigration Services showed that many more Nigerians have been trapped in detention and slave camps in various parts of the world?
Also, is it not an act of gross leadership failure that, in his outburst against Nigerians, President Buhari admitted that they left in search of “greener pastures”, yet he could not articulate any solution to mitigate the suffering his administration has unleashed on our nation in the last three years?

Mr. President knows he is the cause of the problem, yet he has no words of assurances for suffering Nigerians. Instead, he has continued to worsen the situation with unsavory statements against our nation and her citizens whenever he is before an international audience.
If President Buhari is not condemning our youths as lazy and lovers of freebies, he is disparaging our women as inconsequential or demarketing our nation to investors as corrupt.
The PDP further holds that it is the duty of the President, as elected leader of government, to pursue the fundamental human rights of his citizens , as well as find solution to the problems that is pushing Nigerians to adopt illegal migration, irrespective of the huge risks, as option forsurvival.

Moreover, if the Buhari administration and the APC had not wrecked our once
robust economy, Nigerians would not be seeking for greener pastures in other lands.
Furthermore, the PDP laments that in another exhibition of incompetence, President Buhari could not articulate any strong response to the economic proposals brought by the German leader, thereby squandering our nations opportunity of benefiting from her visit.

It has therefore become clearer that there is no way our nation can survive another four years under a leadership such as the Buhari-led APC administration, hence the determination by Nigerians to rally on the platform of the repositioned PDP to throw up a
competent President to effectively pilot the affairs of our nation, come 2019.

We do not have all capturing health insurance scheme and those doctors have family to feed.

PoliticsFull Details Of The PACT Agreement By Oby Ezekwesili by chieyine(op):
Former minister of finance and co-convener of BBOG have given us an insight into how the voting went and how Fela Durotoye clinched the coveted price of being the winner.

Though it was cut short by Kingsley Moghalu rejecting the result and starting in clear terms that he will contest for the Office of the President to the dismay of the public.

According to Oby Ezekwesili who was invited to monitor the whole process who stated on her twitter timeline.

Today, a group of Presidential Aspirants under the acronym of PACT- Presidential Aspirants Coming Together held a Voting among themselves to decide their Consensus Candidate. They invited me to be an OBSERVER.
I observed their process and reported the outcome of their Votes

But after Kingsley Moghalu rejected the outcome of the selection process, Madam Oby Ezekwesili has taken her time to write about everything that occurred during the meeting.

The PACT – Presidential Aspirants Coming Together had thirteen Aspirants at their Opening today. They did inform the Media and audience in the hall, ahead of their voting process, that Sowore and four other Aspirants had moved on at different time since they launched their initiative.

Those thirteen that were there today including Moghalu Kingsley and Fela Durotoye made lofty statements of their collective vision to go together and vote among themselves, one Consensus Candidate. Before they signed their MOU, Ahmed Buhari and Aliyu quietly walked away making the numbers Eleven.

The eleven then finalized their Memoranda of Understanding and signed before voting among themselves: Kingsley Moghalu; Thomas-Wilson Ikubese; Fela Durotoye; Dare Fagbemi; Mathias Tsado; Ayodele Favor Oluwamuyiwa Victor Ani-Laju; Godstime Sidney Iroabuchi; Clement Jimbo; Elishama Ideh; Felix Nicholas .

The eleven presidential aspirants in the first stage of the process, voted for any one of their ten co-aspirants.
Two voted for Moghalu Kingsley, two voted for Fela Durotoye, two voted for Mathias Baba Tsado, one for Ideh, one for Iroabuchi, one for Ikubese, one for Favor Olumuyiwa, one for Fagbemi.

Thus consistent with the Process they agreed among themselves, Moghalu Kingsley got two votes, Fela Durotoye got two votes and Tsado got two votes became qualified as the three top contenders for the second stage voting. They agreed that the three aspirants would recuse themselves for their eight co-aspirants to Vote.

The eight co-aspirants became seven when Nicholas Felix quietly left but it did not stop the three top candidates – Moghalu Kingsley, Fela Durotoye and Mathias Tsado from continuing with the Process.

So, the seven remaining co-aspirants voted: Durotoye got four votes, Moghalu got three votes and Tsado got zero vote.
They all rose & hugged.
