NB: It was a cash trip Three things must have happened; 1. You were scammed. 2. Rider had bonus 3.GPS error There's an app riders use to alter the drivers GPS to the destination as soon as you start trip. Those who know, know. |

TheCar: Apparently you missed my point.
The bolded in his reply was what I replied too.
I do not suggest Guarantor pay Security Deposit, I advocate that rent should be paid upfront as practice worldwide.
Also remember that if driver don’t default we wouldn’t come to this point of collecting Security Deposit.
The Car Owner start this business based on trust system by taking all the risk. He/She bought the car, do registration plus insurance and also fixed all observed defects before giving you the car to go use for business based on a pre agreed amount to be paid weekly then the driver comes after with stories?
Is that trust not broken?
So if a car owner decided to collect Security Deposit from both guarantors and driver, don’t criticize him/her, you need to be in his shoes first before you can understand where it hurts.
Also you can help correct the narrative by giving out cars without any form of agreement etc.
It’s your money, your investment, your decision.
So leave the fellow alone with his decision and choice.
Thanks No matter how we cut corners and invent new narratives assurance, there will always be BAD drivers and BAD car-owners. Like I said earlier, in one of my old posts, I have Zero tolerance for defaulting drivers. I have had two partners on this same thread. Both cheated me and I returned their cars. It's a risky business. The drivers loose sometimes too. Pity no one, maximize profit in a JUST way. |

TheCar: My Opinions:
Handle all your car repairs and preventive maintenance using your trusted mechanic. You will hardly - not Impossible to - find a driver that would agreed to share maintenance. Although you can have him handle repairs below 5 - 7k. But ensure to be informed about what was repaired so you can make a judgement call if it good according to your set standards for the car.
You bought the car, so you decide what you want as weekly rental payment. Be flexible about it not rigid.
Like the Ogas on this thread said, asked for #Assurance Deposit (former called Security Deposit) and don’t worry yourself about your car being overworked. Just have it insured with a functional GPS tracker (For routine monitoring if you want).
Give the driver undiluted freedom and access to the car but never joke with your weekly physical inspection of the car.

Once you can do that, than you can dictate how you want to run ur business. Am my own boss too. I wake when I like, sleep when I want, groove when I want, make money when I want e.t.c I don't have to be wealthy to be a boss, you know |
