Bros leave them na, they're changing the narrative, they will soon change their brain join. I don't understand how some people reason sometimes. So driver security deposit is not enough, they now want guarantor deposit. SMH. Whoever came up with this suggestion, needs to have his/her head examined.

And for the guy advocating for upfront rentals...continue. You will surely drive the car yourself. Nonsense!

Lol... U are there complaining... Others are there bringing their security deposit... So who is winning? The guy that needs his brain examined or the guy that just keeps shouting with frustration cuz he doesn't have any hope of getting d security deposit and still claims he is a top earner.. Come on gerrrrrrrrahia

Well I believe as at today you pay rent where you live except you are still living with your parents in Lagos. Do you pay you rent after or upfront?

I assumed you have either DSTV, GOTV or Startimes, do you prepaid or use postpaid.

The internet you used to view and reply this comment is it prepaid or postpaid? Well, off course except if it’s bonus data.

You don’t have to agreed to the narrative, you can be the change you’re advocating for?

Get in touch with Dru23, he will link you with banks that grant loans for Uber business at friendly rate so you can buy a car and give to any driver to drive on your behalf and don’t worry about maintenance, the bank would be responsible for everything on your behalf.

Common Sense isn’t common.

Common sense isn't common... how many guarantor will make down payment for another person.
To get a loan from bank sef. Equity fund won't be requested from the guarantor.

The house you rented. Im sure u have a guarantor to sign on your agreement with the landlord. Pls tell me. If he did contribute to the payment of your caution fee?

Legally. It's wrong for a guarantor to make any upfront payment in any business. Best u can ask for is asset declaration

There is a mad surge on Uber across Lagos.

If you are not already in the zones don't attempt going. Check out Google map and you will see the reason for the surge.

Lagos is on lock down

Apparently you missed my point.

The bolded in his reply was what I replied too.

I do not suggest Guarantor pay Security Deposit, I advocate that rent should be paid upfront as practice worldwide.

Also remember that if driver don’t default we wouldn’t come to this point of collecting Security Deposit.

The Car Owner start this business based on trust system by taking all the risk. He/She bought the car, do registration plus insurance and also fixed all observed defects before giving you the car to go use for business based on a pre agreed amount to be paid weekly then the driver comes after with stories?

Is that trust not broken?

So if a car owner decided to collect Security Deposit from both guarantors and driver, don’t criticize him/her, you need to be in his shoes first before you can understand where it hurts.

Also you can help correct the narrative by giving out cars without any form of agreement etc.

It’s your money, your investment, your decision.

So leave the fellow alone with his decision and choice.

Thanks

No matter how we cut corners and invent new narratives assurance, there will always be BAD drivers and BAD car-owners.

Like I said earlier, in one of my old posts, I have Zero tolerance for defaulting drivers.

I have had two partners on this same thread.
Both cheated me and I returned their cars.

It's a risky business. The drivers loose sometimes too.

Pity no one, maximize profit in a JUST way.

I like the word ZERO TOLERANCE.

But the challenge is, to get a fair system people (Driver & Car Owner) need to start sharing experiences good or bad.

Now the BAD car owners you worked with previously would probably get a new driver from this thread. Did you know if you share your experience your fellow counterparts would know what they are getting themselves into before agreeing any contract with the person but since you’re not mentioning names, someone somewhere has entered what could have been prevented if you had mentioned and share your experience with the person.

Let make this system transparent. You see something bad, mention it. Like you inform each other about traffic etc also help each other make this system work for the GOOD PEOPLE.

Let us be honest with ourselves.. The "assurance" deposit is the common sense thing to do . This is a no brainer, a driver that is serious should be able to drop at least part of his assurance deposit . I don't fully agree that a guarantor should be involved in any shape of form of assurance deposit at all.. A drivers assursnce is enough. Lets us change the narrative people, but most uber/taxify partners will not listern.. That is why most are broke and in debt.. At the beginning of the thread, I said that maintenance costs will run people out of uber. And boy am I correct.. This is a tough business and also fleet company needs the assurance deposit more than anybody else. This is the best way to go. Cab business in Yankee sometimes ask for deposit, hotel will ask for deposit . We as business man and women, need to follow western business model and see how we can incorporate that into our own business.. If it works for them it should work for us too.

Kudos Boss.

As Gazzuzz once suggested, maybe the next move would be collecting “Weekly Rental” ahead like they do in Benin (in Gazzuzz’s word).

Maybe one day, we will starting collecting weekly rental ahead like Landlords does every where in Nigeria.

House Rent is prepaid.

GSM Call Credit is prepaid.

PHCN Bill is prepaid (for people with Prepaid Meter).

BRT Transport fare is prepaid.

Internet Subscription is prepaid.

DSTV/GOTV is prepaid.

So agreed “Weekly Rental” can be PREPAID.

It is well with you.. And it will always be well with you.. PrePaid weekly deposit is a very fantastic idea ,especially if the car given is given out is in a fantastic shape. Trust me uber/ taxify drivers are secretly doing well. Some of them will just come to this thread and laugh . And continue doing their business until they are able to get their own car .

You can always walk into any banking hall and ask for a loan. You can try it out. This business is not a do or die affair . If you can prepay your rent for the year, weekly assurance deposit should not be a problem.

I don’t charge per hour. I only negotiate and bargain with riders. But its usually x2 of what Taxify will charge. Most of these riders are d ones who enjoyed my service online, they take my contact for offline trips whenever they need to go out.

New Taxify office making sense. Number of customer care representatives have increased. Drivers should avoid being reported by riders, I have a feeling this people will attend to complaints faster now.

Bottom line plain and simple.. If the car is in top shape like a tokunbo, don't you think that some assurance should be drop? Maybe half of the weekly assurance is ok ? The only thing assurance does is to prevent the owners from being f*@k twice. Nobody wants to f*+k over at all , but in these business people do get f@ck over many times.. So u should limit the amount u get f+*ked over..

Drivers/Partners don't let 'mechanics finish you. Get a personal car scanner to diagnose your car...

09032614208, 08060675824.

Starting from as low as 4K (bluetooth Version).. Handheld Version: from 8K.

Why exactly do you need a car diagnostics scanner!!!

Quick One
1. If ever buying a Tokunbo (Foreign Used) or Nigerian Used Car, don't just go with a mechanic, scan the car to know likely issues/problems
2. If you own a car, Check Engine Light can be triggered at any time. ITS TIME TO GET YOUR CAR SCANNED.
3. From experience, after local mechanics work on certain parts of your car, Check Engine Light is triggered. Scan it to know hwta they may gotten wrong or not done properly!

WHY DOES YOUR CAR NEED MYMOTO TRACKER

(1) Security: While anti-theft systems like push-buttons before car start, gear lock, pedal locks etc… are good, ONLY A TRACKING SYSTEM LIKE OURS ALLOWS YOU TO RECOVER (AND ALSO PROTECT) YOUR VEHICLE IF YOUR CAR IS HIJACKED FROM YOU WHILE DRIVING. Whenever you need to start the car, you enable it also.

(2) Remote Monitoring: GPS Security trackers allows you to monitor your vehicle location remotely from your phone. You are able to view your car’s location in real time (from our IOS/ANDROID APPS).

(3) Vehicle History: Through our online platform (IOS/ANDROID APPS) , you can view where your car had been between DAY X and DAY Y. A plot is shown on a map showing your car’s movement over this period of time.

(4) Remotely Stop Your Car: With our security GPS tracker, you are able to stop your car from ANY PHONE with an sms command. This function can also be carried out through our online platforms.

(5) Geo-Fencing Alarm:If your car goes beyond set a radius (or multi-point), say Lagos, you will be notified by sms.

(6) Other alarms (Over-speed Alarm, Ignition On Alarm, Low Battery Alarm ): Over-speed alarms notifies you via sms when your car goes beyond a particular speed. Ignition on notifies you WHENEVER your car is started. Low Battery Alarm lets you know when your car battery is low.

(7) Daily Mileage report (online platform): Daily mileage report shows you a daily chart (in KM) of your car.

We have heard of one or two expereience of how clients were able to recover their vehicles BECAUSE THEY HAD A TRACKER INSTALLED IN IT. We will be sharing some of them with you based on TRUE LIFE EXPERIENCES.

Story 1
During one of our installs, the client shared with us how Mr Ayo (not his real name) borrowed his brothers car, and waylaid in the night somewhere in Lagos. Unknown to the thieves, the car had a tracker in it. That same night they tracked the vehicle to a military baracks (apparenntly the thieves had accomplices with military connections). They went with the police and they were able to recover the car (THE DEMOBILIZE FUNCTION OF THE TRACKER WAS USED TO ENSURE THE CAR DID NOT MOVE UNTIL THEY GOT TO THAT LOCATION)...

Story 2
Mr Bayo was bout entering his car in the night somewhere in Lagos when he was attacked. He immediately used his phone to demobilize the car some minutes after they had zoomed away with the car. The thieves ran away when they discovered the car wasn't strating again. The car was tracked to Ajah. Apparently the thieves ran away in fear with the keys of the car grin
