Black newborn babies in the United States are more likely to survive childbirth if they are cared for by Black doctors, but three times more likely than White Babies to die when looked after by White doctors, a study has found. The mortality rate of Black newborns in hospital shrunk by between 39% and 58% when Black physicians took charge of the birth, according to the research, which laid bare how shocking racial disparities in human health can affect even the first hours of a person's life. By contrast, the mortality rate for White babies was largely unaffected by the doctor's race. https://edition.cnn.com/2020/08/18/health/black-babies-mortality-rate-doctors-study-wellness-scli-intl/index.html?utm_term=link&utm_medium=social&utm_content=2020-08-22T04%3A00%3A10&utm_source=twCNN |

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has called on President Muhammadu Buhari not to listen to the call for sack of security chiefs. Many, including some members of the National Assembly, have called for the sack of the service chiefs in the face of the current security challenges in the country. However, Governor Umahi noted that rather than contemplating sacking the service chiefs, the President should increase their funding and logistics. The governor, who stated this during the ground breaking ceremony of Nigeria Army Reference Hospital, Abakaliki, praised the Army for their gallantry and dedication towards securing the territory of the Nation. He noted that the assignment of the Army was not an easy task and as such, needed the full cooperation of citizens at all levels to succeed. “The Chief of Army Staff needs cooperation and information so that they can do their work. “We should increase the funding and logistics of the Army to aid their performance, rather than changing them. “They should increase their funding. “The Army is very crucial for the Nigerian people. “Let me thank the President for finding Ebonyi fit to site this project. Ebonyi is very lucky with the Army. “We will continue to partner you. “we expect him, the Chief of Army Staff to Commission the internal roads we did for the Army. https://www.today.ng/news/nigeria/governor-umahi-urges-president-buhari-sack-service-chiefs-311631/amp?__twitter_impression=true

Why?... For such delicate position demoting him is not the suitable punishment. He should resign and face the wrath of the law fully. |
