Secretary of State James Brokenshire has
cancelled a trip to Washington to focus on
talks aimed at restoring the power-sharing

Mr Brokenshire had been scheduled to meet

Pastor Paul Hanniford, the clergyman convicted
for having sex with a 13-year-old girl after telling

20 years in prison.

KOCHI: The Ernakulum Additional District

Prosecutor B Sandhya Rani submitted
that Prakashan, who raped the girl in April
2015, deserved maximum punishment.

DUBAI // A man used social media to advertise his
services as a prostitute, Dubai Criminal Court has
heard told.
The 29-year-old Moroccan posted ads on Facebook,
Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat, along with pictures
of naked people and cross-dressers.
In January this year a police officer from the
Electronic Crimes Department discovered the man’s
posts after spotting a suspicious tweet.
“‘A 25-year-old Moroccan for massage, hair removal
and home cleaning services’ said the tweet, but it
was posted along with inappropriate pictures of
women and men, and there were more than 400
followers for the account so I checked its owner,” the
lieutenant said.
An undercover police officer posing as a customer
contacted the defendant.
“They agreed to have sex for Dh1,200 and when he
arrived we arrested him,” the lieutenant said.
The Moroccan confessed to having sex with men for
money.
“He confessed he had been doing this for a while with
more than 300 customers and charged each one
between Dh1,000-Dh1,500,” said the lieutenant.
The man admitted in court to charges of prostitution,
inciting sin and promoting nudity on social media. A
verdict is expected on May 21.

An anonymous letter received by a child-line in
Kerala has brought to light a major operation to
cover up the rape of a minor girl by a Catholic
priest in the state with 18 percent Christian
population.
The police foiled the operation by detaining Fr
Robin Vadakkumchery, vicar of St. Sebastians
Church at Kottiyoor in the state’s northern
district of Kannur, while he tried to escape to
Canada on 27 February.
The police recorded the arrest of the 48-year-old
priest, who allegedly raped and impregnated the
16-year-old girl, on Monday and a case slapped
against him under section 376 of Indian Penal
Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from
Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
