Jobs/VacanciesRe: My First Major Job Interview In Germany (true Life Story) by chingle5(m): 5:59pm On Jul 06, 2022
monkmike:
That was me 4 years ago – after landing my first major job in Germany. And in no time I was travelling around Europe..... until the next opportunity came.... and then next, and the next....

I look fresh there, it was about a year after my postgraduate studies (M.Sc. Infection Biology, University of Lübeck). When I received the invite to the interview, I was super excited; positive, enthusiastic, confident……… and all optimistic feelings you can think about. I have had interviews before then, but they were all virtual, this was going to be the first physical interview.

You must have heard/read that you can work in Germany without the German language; that's true, so read on.

The job post was in English; Company’s website: in English; no option to even change it to German or other languages. My job application was sent in English; First feedback to the application sent in English; Invitation to interview was sent by the company in English! Wow! What more could I ask for? Although I could speak some German then, but having a job interview in English was way much better for me.

I could not ask for more – on top of the above, the offer was in Munich – one of the highest paying cities in Germany. Even if you will probably spend most of it on house rent and perhaps groceries, Munich is a beautiful city to leave in, so it’d all be good anyway.

I was so sure of getting the job and was already making accommodation plans. I prepared in the best ways possible – at least, I thought and rehearsed my speeches and possible answers to potential questions a million times. Since the interview would be in English (logically it should), I was confident in myself – actually, I was overconfident.

Anyways, just in case I had to talk to someone at the reception, I pocketed precisely enough German to get me across to the interview room (I thought to myself… lol ?). Well, things started changing slowly when I arrived a bit too early – 20 minutes before the time and was informed (by one of the interviewers, in German), to go and hang around for a while and come back just shortly before the interview time: Welcome to Germany – the land of precision! Being late is not accepted, coming too early praised is neither accepted.

I came back right in time as was asked to. To show good manners, I exchanged greetings with the interviewers (two of them) in German, hoping that’d be it (my pocketed German was already running out!!??). The first interviewer proceeded to introduce himself, and then the second, and then I did – all in German. And I thought to myself, ‘when will the real interview begin?’

The real interview continued as the first person started describing the company. I had to interrupt, to ask if the language of the interview is German: ‘Oh yes, it is. Didn’t you know that?’ He asked. I was like, ‘no! I did not expect it at all………’ I explained how every step so far in the application process was in English until now. The first tension in the meeting ensued – I was caught off guard and I started sweating in my nice suit! Lol, ? I laugh about it today, but not then.

To cut a long story short, we had some arguments on which language to interview in. Of course, they understood my points but wouldn’t accept it since it is a German company and most of the colleagues in the laboratory are native German speakers – there was hardly a chance that I would work in English. I should have thought about that earlier. In the end, we had a compromise – the interview was conducted in Denglisch! Heard that before?

That experience taught me that, you could never be over-prepared for anything. When you are taken by surprise and feel disappointed, let it be a lesson that’d propel you to the next level. I learned my lessons that day and sent all subsequent applications in German ONLY – thanks to the good friends that supported me then. If the communication turned out to be in English, that’s several pluses for me!

Amongst other things to learn, I sure did learn the following:

Be open to changes and if one way does not work, try another
You could never be too prepared – look deeper than the logical procedures
Prepare for the worst. If things go all Gucci, then you can call it luck!

This Peter obi is very wise... I like how he answers the subsidy question.... Subsidy in Nigeria is more of a necessary evil .. you need it but it is bad... He said yes and no coz there are some problems that is not just straight forward to answer.... He tries to weigh the advantage in both options.. if you remove it you have to give something better to replace it.. if you don't, you have to manage it better...

This will be my first time voting and if I don't vote Peter Obi make i bend...
RomanceLGBTQ Vs HOMOPHOBES In The African Society. (discuss) by chingle5(op): 1:09pm On Jun 24, 2022
I want to start by saying I am a Philosophy student from the University of Lagos. To be honest I hate that course but what I really like about the course is the need to ask fundamental and critical questions about anything which is what philosophy is majorly about don't let anybody tell you otherwise, which explains why they are always in constant conflict with religious people because of their beliefs are been seen as dogmatic. Regardless as a human being, you just need to question the nature or situation of things in our environment (No wonder it is compulsory in most tertiary institution fields in Nigeria).

Now to my question coz this whole thing is about to get more complicating. Please note this while exercising your brain: In every Generalization there is always an Exception

The Economy/Society: We both know that most African countries are been tagged The third world countries, not taken as equal, consider less, consume more than they produce, countries that are in an endless loop of development, religious but not practical, still practice traditional tribalistic acts in this modern age of science and technology and other bad vices that is been associated with our countries...

Now we both know the high level of homophobic nature in most African countries, I don't need to start explaining all that. One thing i noticed is that most African people yearn for a better lifestyle or will rather wish to go to places with a better lifestyle such as the developed countries as we usually call them. But what surprise me of all is that they are miraculously about to tolerate to a certain extent the nature of the LGBTQ group which seems questionable to me.

The Questions
In solving a conflicting situation, most people usually opt for a more diplomatic solutions a kind of mutual benefit for both parties that are involved and mutual understand/benefit has a huge part to play in all this.

Question 1
Now with all this does it mean that the developed countries are just more understanding and practical in their decision making and the African societies are just nonunderstanding and too religious in their decision making ? regarding the perception of the LGBTQ group.

Question 2
Let think about a country where the LGBTQ group is the majority and the heterosexual is the minority now I am not saying that you should start thinking there are more gay men there coz LGBTQ group means there are other type of different sexualities.. Me for 1 I can tell you that atrocities will be committed but we have also seen atrocities committed in the heterosexual communities where father's sleep with their daughters and mother's sleep with their sons so I will place it in a equal standard and I will tell you why.. if it is an uncivilized country with little regard for human lives such as we have seen terrorists, herdsman, unknown gunmen and others it will be very high but if it is a civilized country with a very high regard for human lives in developed countries it will be very low.. I am not saying it will not be there but it will be very low.. But thinking deep what other things will happen?

Question 3
Using the rule of double standard
This miraculous change/behavior of Africa people to not tolerate the nature of the LGBTQ group in developing countries and to tolerate the nature of the LGBTQ group in developed places is it a Natural behavior or a Learned behavior because most people tend to draw a religious view or opinion towards the LGBTQ group for that behavior but it is the same holy book that teach we should love thy neighbor as yourself or how is it been put but in this situation they are human being like you and i. In philosophy it is the Golden Rule we use, which is similar, which says .. you should treat others the way you want to be treated yourself.

Question 4(Not completely related)
Regarding education, I don't know which group value education the most in Nigeria is it the struggling parents who toll day and night to send their children to school hoping that one day they may become something in the future or the school students (undergraduate) aka leaders of tomorrow who feel that their time is been waste with the constant strike, delay, bad governmental policies which tries to make money from them off education and still make access to it hard.. having to cheat their ways or just do la cram la pour or the stakeholders are disillusioned, who feel they are fighting for our students rights but in all seriousness are only fighting for their own benefits or the government officials who's own children don't know the meaning of ASUU.

With these statistics I can say Education is not highly valued, If Education is not high valued and many people are not really enlightened does it mean that we are the cause of our own headaches and Education still have a very long way to go coz we fail to look at things from every angle and not only from only one angle

Let Discuss!!!

Kudos to the YouTube channel itscomplicatedchannel I don't know if he is a redpiller or we just need to give a deeper though to what is happening in our societies.

Emaprince:
Rejection? Lol.

Where women see a willing man to propose before rejecting?

Like I said. Women are the ones expecting men to propose not the other way round. Even you as a doctor can never propose to a man..no matter how worthy you deem him. Heck he probably won't see you fit enough. Lol. Its the bitter truth.

Keep lieing to yourselves. Any man that is financially OK can get married any time he wants..but you can't say the same for women who will have to wait until a man proposes. But men will tell you there is no good woman out there any more..because a man getting married is carrying a woman and her baggage. A woman is not coming to feed a man na...unless he is a lazy bum. As a doctor, your money is almost useless to a man..cos you aren't wired to provide. You only collect.

Women are crying there is no man to marry again not because of the quality of men out there...but the number of men willing to commit. These scarcity is because men don't want to commit to the damaged goods littered every where now.

The twitter lady is just advertising herself to gain pity and possible DMs from gullible mugus.
I agree with you on that advertisement part no cap
RomanceRe: Lady Shares Message From A Man Whose Marriage Proposal She Rejected 7 Years Ago by chingle5(m): 12:23pm On Jun 23, 2022
Looking at this whole thing, I think both party is at fault. Talking about the lady.. she said she politely decline now I don't know what she mean by politely decline coz some of these girls will be feeling like a queen but at the end of the day they ultimately decide who they want to be with. They talk about how sensitive they are regarding men's approach but they don't know how sensitive and fragile it is about how to dismiss or rejecting a man is... Dont quote me wrongly, I am not saying you should not dismiss a person you don't like but how you do it matters which bring us to the "Attitude" ... She is trying to give the silent treatment to man... I for one love that, let me not reply the fool in fact let me block the fool but why does she has to take it to the wide world to seek validation if you are trying to give him the silent treatment... Again I am not saying you shouldn't call out the fool but if you are giving the silent treatment should you ? Again Attitude

For the man ... I will just call him what he is a "Fool" I know a lot of man don't take rejection lightly, they are told from a younger age that they should be this and that, man up don't show emotion but deep down they have feelings and emotions too.. Nobody likes rejection.. There are ways a woman can reject a man and he will actually not feel too bad about it... again "Attitude" ... I know boys, if they should fight it usually take 1 or 2 days not scientifically proven but it doesn't take long before they get back together but for this whole thing to transpired for years it must have been a very serious issue that must have happen between them... Somethings is just not clear.
