Who doesn't know Paul ifere and his likes for pedalling falsehood in cross river state. He will so tell the lie that even the devil himself will be surprised. He levelled false allegations against the state government and was invited to substantiate them but he couldn't. Now he is afraid of been taken to the court. If Paul Ifere is not a kidnapper or member of a secret cult he should simply do the needful. Go and defend himself instead of coming to nairaland to cry like a one month old baby. |
veraponpo:Get yourself a copy of National Road Traffic regulation and educate yourself. Vehicle can only be towed by a registered tow/recovery vehicle. |
woodmood:What about the excesses of an average Lagos Driver? what have u to say about that. Just do the right thing. These same Nigerians will go abroad and drive at 20K/H for fear of going to jail. I believe by the time government starts jailing offenders for traffic offences as done abroad, they will understand that Nigeria is not totally a lawless country. |
Tapout:It is specifically spelt out in the Nigerian Highway Code. Two units of caution triangle is needed. |
Does Akinwunmi Ambode have such powers to Barr men of FRSC? are they under his payroll? |
Hate him or like him. He has spoken the truth. Minister of national UDOMA UDOMA is a lawyer. that is a position that is supposed to be headed by a swooned economist. |
This only happen when car owners prefer to patronize touts when registering a vehicle. Every genuine registered vehicle can not be re-registered except their is evidence of purchase and valid police clearance certificate. In the process of registering a vehicle, as soon as you imputes the chassis number into the computer, the name of the previous owner appears with all his details including his phone number. A call is then placed to that phone number to confirm if the car was sold or stollen before proceeding with the registration process. A lot of cars have been recovered in this process. That is why those that have clean cars with old number plates should try and get the new number plate because no data is available on the FRSC website for old number plates. All are encouraged to visit the FRSC NVIS desk officer at the state board of internal revenue of each state for the registration of their vehicles. |
Weldone guys. The government should provide well equipped clinics along major highways and deploy men if FRSC and Red Cross to provide these kind of intervention for travellers and accident victims. |
paiz:I strongly believe u. How can u recover 1 pistol, 3 revolvers and u are displaying AK47 bullets? |
No wonder the hurriedly came up with the news that Nigeria was out of recession. |
APC Buhari+Lier Mohammed |
Religion is really the Opium of the poor. If it were to be a poor Muslim family they will be in their hijab from head to toe but look at the children of the rich see how gorgeously dressed they are. Two sets of religious values exists in the north. one for the rich and the other for the poor. |
May thunder strike u dead for comparing Buhari with God. |
No matter the mud u try to pour o GEJ, u can't take his shine away. Focus on your Buhari and leave Jonathan that left office since 2015 alone. This Bolaji Abdullahi no get shame at all. He had to come up with this just to maintain his relevance in this administration. |
Everybody should be security conscious. El-Rufai is a double edged sword. while northerners will get all the protection they need in the east, Easterners won't get the needed protection from the north |
This APC government is tired of blaming Jonathan. They are now blaming rats. Which way APC? |
Bolustical:Your comparison does not hold water. Danbaba Suntai was away because of injury from the crash sustained why flying a jet, Sullivan chime was away for cancer related ailment. So what ailment is Buhari suffering from? |
Meaning Buhari is worst than Boko Haram. Because Buhari is the father of hate speech. |
Oyegun, though you are my brother but I am sorry to say you are a big Fool. |
When the fire starts be rest assured that it will consume everybody. This is what Buhari has brought upon us. He was the one who set the stage with his 97% and 5% speech. Before now, NNAMDI KANU was unknown to many Igbo's but now he has been made popular because of Buhari disregard for the rule of law. It shall never be well with Buhari. |
This man must be high on some very cheap local weed. |

Tuesday 26th July, 2017 was a memorable day as members of the Federal Road Safety Corps Cross River Sector Command organised a programme at ODUKPANI Local Government area of cross river state. The programme is titled First Respondent to Road Traffic Crash victim. The programme which was held at the ODUKPANI LGA town hall had in attendance the youth leader and other members of his cabinet. The Sector Commander of FRSC Cross River Sector Command Corps Commander CHIDIEBERE NKWONTA who was ably represented by Assistant Corps Commander IV NWACHUKWU, welcomed all to the event and stated that road safety is every body's business thus, all hands must be on deck to ensure that Road traffic crash victims are given the required first aid needed before they are transfered to the hospital. The guest lecturer Mr Daniel Asuquo Of Nigeria Red Cross dwelt on the meaning of first aid, various first aid techniques and many more. Delivering the vote of thanks, the Youth Leader of ODUKPANI LGA Mr Ekpenyong Oqua thanked the FRSC for deeming it fit to organise such programme in their locality and assured of their unwavering cooperation. |
Governor Ben AYADE what crossriverians need now is to urgently fix this spot before an eventual dualization of Calabar-Itu highway and not the white elephant project called Super-Highway |
Impending danger awaits cross riverians and road users when the bad portion of the road along calabar-odukpani highway just after the federal highway police patrol checkpoint at PAMOL finally collapses. The govt seems to be closing its eyes to this danger that lies ahead. Several pleas to authorities concerned such as FERMA and Ministry of works on the need to urgently fix that death trap has yielded no positive result. All they could do was to put reflective tapes there. The rate of flooding going on across Nigeria is an eye opener for all. Though it is a Federal Road, the state government should immediately step in and mobilise contractors to that site so as to prevent unwarranted loss of human life. A stitch in time saves nine. |
Where are all the APC followers and all members of BMC on nairaland? |

bashydemy:Be proud of where u work. Show us your ID card. according to the national bureau of statistics, over 3.5 million people lost their jobs in the first two years of Buhari administration and Buhari is deceiving himself with N-Power. we dey wait for APC in 2019. |
OP have you noticed that you are standing alone in this thread? doesn't it ring a bell in your head?. I am not a politician but any party that has brought untold hardship to Nigerians to the extent that people are committing suicide because of hardship and stealing pot of food from the fire which has never been heard of before is not fit to be in power. |
Pls Mr Okoroawusa it is not the media houses that are scaring investors away but your dear Buhari. On several occasions he was heard saying that Nigerians are corrupt. How do you expect investors to come to the country when the chief image maker who is suppose to be responsible for packaging Nigeria is the one condemning Nigerians. Investors were rushing to invest in Nigeria during the last administration because of the impression created by GEJ that all was well in Nigeria. The then minister of information Dr Dora even went ahead to launch the 'NIGERIA: GOOD PEOPLE GREAT NATION' slogan. So, the bulk lies in the table of this devilish APC which you are part of. |
The Corps Marshal, Dr . Boboye Oyeyemi , has condemned the unprovoked attacks and molestation of operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps on the highways and vowed to prosecute all those involved . The FRSC , in a statement by the Corps Public Education Officer , Bisi Kazeem , said Oyeyemi ’ s reaction follows the recent shooting of two FRSC staff and the detention of another in a Police facility in Abia State . “ Many road users are abusing the civility of the unarmed personnel that are trained to be cautious while discharging their legitimate duties , ” the statement quoted Oyeyemi as saying “ In the past , many FRSC operatives had been abducted, killed , assaulted , ran over , threatened and shot . “ It is also disheartening that some of the attackers misinformed the unsuspecting public by releasing manipulated information to gain public sympathy . Attempts are often made to make the aggressors looked like the victims . ” The Corps Marshal said the FRSC remains the nation’ s lead agency on road traffic administration and safety management empowered to arrest and prosecute erring motorists . He added , “ Section 10 ( 4 ) of the FRSC ( Establishment ) Act , 2007 states categorically that members of the Corps shall have powers to arrest and prosecute persons reasonably suspected to have committed any traffic offence . Resistance based on ignorance of the law or impunity can no longer be grounds to attack operatives carrying out their lawful duties . We will definitely not abdicate our statutory responsibilities. ” Wife of Abia Speaker Oyeyemi referred to the shooting of two FRSC operatives at Aro Ngwa along the Enugu – Port Harcourt expressway on July 15 , 2017 , by policemen attached to the wife of the Speaker , Abia State House of Assembly . He noted that “the two young men were abandoned with their gun wounds” but were rescued by road users that assisted them to the hospital . FCT ( 12 / 7 / 17 ) The Corps Marshal also recalled the case in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja , where an investigating panel revealed that a patrol team flagged down a driver for routine checks. When his car was to be impounded for running foul of traffic laws , a female staff was attached to the offender ’ s vehicle to accompany the vehicle to a nearby FRSC office for other necessary processes as contained in the operational procedure to be effected , the driver sped away with the female staff . A patrol team, obviously concerned about the motive of the fleeing driver , had to apply force to rescue the female operative . The manipulated video which the suspect released afterwards only told one side of the story. The Corps is determined to follow through with the suspect ’ s prosecution as a deterrent. JIGAWA ( 14 / 7 / 17 ) The case in Jigawa was also pathetic . An FRSC patrol team was carrying out its legitimate duties along the Kiyawa – Dutse road in Jigawa State when a team of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW ) officials challenged the team for daring to check vehicles for excessive overloading and installation of the Speed Limiting Devices . They not only set the FRSC patrol vehicle ablaze but aso badly damaged another vehicle . The FRSC office was also destroyed by the rampaging NURTW officials . The Jigawa incident resulted in fatality as one person was killed and several others injured . OYO( 15 / 7 / 17 ) It will also be recalled that an FRSC personnel in Oluyole Unit Command , Oyo State was almost strangled to death by a driver who was accosted for contravening traffic laws. The Corps has turned down the plea for out - of - court settlement by the now sober attacker. The Corps Marshal said that all the attacks had been collated , well documented and would be brought to the attention of all the relevant arms of government for necessary action . Enough, he said , was enough . Meanwhile , the Corps Marshal has assured all staff that the Corps would not leave any stone unturned to prosecute all those involved in the recent spate of attacks. He also said additional steps were being taken to further protect staff performing their legitimate duties and asked them to continue to discharge their duties without fear or ill- will. “ The hall mark of gallant operatives is never to be deterred by negative influences but focused in the commitment to service for the sake of posterity, ” Oyeyemi added . He appealed to all sister security operatives and the general public to always come to the aid of the Marshals when they are under threat . “ If the laws are not strictly enforced , ” he said , “ road safety becomes the first casualty . Nobody knows the next victim . ”

Punch Editorial Board Impunity, lawlessness and disregard for human life are getting worse in Nigeria. Proof of this emerged on Saturday when police officers attached to the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Chikwendu Kalu, shot officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission while on patrol. Two FRSC officials were riddled with police bullet wounds during the incident on the Umuikaa/Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway, Abia State. Photographic images of the injured FRSC officials in the media raise the question of police conduct and impunity on our roads. The really scary aspect of all this is that the FRSC operatives were unarmed. If uniformed FRSC officials can be shot in cold blood for doing their job, then other ordinary citizens are really in deep trouble. At the heart of the bloody incident is the wife of Kalu, the complicity of the police and the State Security Service. According to media reports, the wife of the Speaker, who was reportedly riding in an SUV, was stopped for traffic violation by FRSC officials. Instead of obeying the law, the security officials attached to her started brutalising the FRSC personnel. Some reports alleged that the Speaker’s wife also joined in the lawless act of beating up the officials. The issue could have stopped there but when the Speaker was informed, he reportedly stormed the scene with his own police details, who he allegedly ordered to shoot at the FRSC officials, who, by then, were already seated in their patrol vehicle. The directive nearly cost these men their lives as their bloodied bodies showed. In the first place, should police officers obey the Speaker’s unlawful order to shoot at officials of the Nigerian government, who are not in any way criminals? Ruthlessly, the police reportedly removed the battery of the FRSC patrol car so that the injured victims would not be taken to the hospital. In what has become a common occurrence, FRSC officials often come under undue assault in the line of duty. In 2016, a road marshal, Segun Enikuemehin, who tried to plead with some military men to stop their assault on a civilian ended up with one of his eyes being plucked out from its socket. He was said to have successfully rescued the civilian and taken him to the police station. But on returning to the scene with policemen, the military men took offence and descended on him, completely damaging his eye. In another incident in Calabar in January, Cletus Okune, a driver attached to the Cross River State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Peter Egba, was remanded in Afokang Prison in the city for allegedly assaulting two members of the FRSC. The commissioner, according to newspaper reports, was not in the vehicle when it was impounded for a number of traffic offences, including driving without fastening of seat belts. But, on arrival at the scene, Egba reportedly ordered his driver to assault them. “The commissioner later joined in the beating and also used a stone to injure a colleague in the head,” Fidelis Eteng, one of the victims, said. Egba denied ordering the assault. In 2013, there was another case in which nine operatives of the commission were arrested by a deputy commissioner of police on allegations of obstructing traffic on the Enugu-Abakaliki Road in Ebonyi State. Three operational vehicles belonging to the FRSC were also reportedly impounded, although the vehicles and the officials were later released. But the buck stops at the desk of the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris: he should immediately order the arrest and prosecution of everyone involved in the despicable act. The policemen deserve severe punishment for misuse of their firearms and obeying an unlawful order. Already, the list of individuals who have been gruesomely murdered or beaten into submission by sadistic policemen is long and ugly. The fact that innocent people and minor offenders are routinely being killed by the police is unpardonable. It is, indeed, awful and shocking that 17 years into the 21st century, policemen will open fire on other unarmed law enforcement officers or civilians on the orders of a power-inebriated politician. If the allegations against Kalu, the Speaker, are correct, he is unfit for public office, one of those undesirables that notable cleric, Tunde Bakare, identified as “the worst of us ruling over the best of us.” And there are many of them around. He amply reflects how our public office holders hold the people in contempt; lord it over them and have impunity as their guiding philosophy. He should be arrested and prosecuted accordingly. The SSS agent, who also allegedly featured in the brutal attack, should be similarly prosecuted. Like the policemen, she should be flushed out of the system. FRSC Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi, owes his subordinates, his conscience and Nigeria a duty of ensuring that justice is done: he should liaise with the highest authority in the land to see to the prosecution of these wild agents of destruction. There is an urgent need for systemic policing reforms. It is argued that the Nigerian society “is over-policed and under-secured.” Really, a research finding notes that Nigeria’s problem is not a lack of officers. More often than not, the police are themselves a significant source of insecurity, since they are “often engaged in criminal activities − particularly corruption and extortion. Nigeria’s police are also feared for their excessive use of force. The police also misapply themselves. For instance, how many policemen are attached to the Speaker and his wife? What are the rules of engagement given to the over 100,000 policemen guarding individuals, their wives, family and corporate bodies? The impression has gained ground that these police maiguards are free to brutalise, intimidate and even shoot other Nigerians when so ordered by their pampered charges as Kalu’s case amply demonstrated. This nonsense must stop; the Nigerian Police was not created to protect a few and oppress the majority. The fact that these horrific acts by the police continue relentlessly and becoming ever more brazen demands a strong response. We encourage the victims to file civil suits and seek compensation irrespective of the IG’s action. Nigerians should rise and use all lawful methods to resist and shake off oppression and impunity.
