A Lagos High Court in Ikeja Monday
dismissed the N25.7billion criminal charge
preferred against the former Managing
Director of Bank PHB, Mr. Francis Atuche,
and others.
Atuche was set free alongside his wife,
Elizabeth and a former Chief Financial
Officer of Bank PHB, Mr. Ugo Anyanwu.
The three persons were prosecuted by the
Economic Financial Crimes Commission
(EFCC) for allegedly stealing N25.7 billion
from the bank.
In a ruling delivered by the presiding judge,
Justice Lateef Lawal-Akapo, the court held
that it is duty bound to comply with the
decisions of Court of Appeal in the appeal
of Okey Nwosu and Erastus Akingbola.
The judge noted that though the
prosecution, in its submission, was right to
say that count one to ten of the charge was
anchored on stealing which falls within the
purview of State High Court.
However, the judge maintained that the
prosecution did not make any submission to
as whether count 11 to 27 have any nexus
with shares and stocks.
“The case on all, falls with Okey Nwosu’s
case. Count one to ten is within the armbit
of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State
because it deals with stealing. Counsel to
the Commission did not make any
submission to as whether count 11 to 27
have any nexus with shares and stocks. The
criminal charge is hereby struck out and the
accused persons are hereby discharges. ”

This little albino girl own uncle tried to sell her to a witch doctor for thousands of dollars so she could be hacked to death and her body parts used to make a potion to bring the rich and powerful luck.

Margareth Khamis was snatched from the home she shares with her mother and three siblings in northern Tanzania by a masked gang in the middle of the night last week.

Mailonline reports that ,the kidnapping sparked a frantic search by the villagers, who tried to follow the gang through the bush without luck.
An entire albino body has been known to fetch £50,000 ($75,000) on the black market.


But unlike many other children with ablinism, luck was on the six-year-old's side: local police heard a man was looking to sell a little girl for an undisclosed sum which could have run into the tens of thousands. Had he been successful, it is likely Margareth would not have been seen again.

Instead, the police set up a sting, and pretended to be a potential customer.

Jume Bwire, the acting Tabora regional police commander, said:
'After we had received the information our officers immediately put our trap and were able to arrest the man red-handed.'
Shockingly, the man they arrested was Margareth's 44-year-old uncle. Thankfully, she was unharmed and was quickly reunited with her family.

Margareth's mother Joyce Mwandu, who also has albinism, was relieved to have her young daughter back.

unbelievably torturous. I can sometimes
see why some Muslims complain all day
and can’t wait until the sun finally sets.
But over the past couple of years, I have
come to realize something about
Ramadan that is beyond food and water.
Here are 10 things I’ve realized about
Ramadan after observing it for many

1. Ramadan is not about starvation.
During the daytime hours that we fast,
we go about our normal lives working
and going to school — we just refrain
from food, drink, sex, and provocative
behavior such as cursing, backbiting,

Stopping yourself from falling into those
practices affords the peace of mind that
allows you to think clearly and
rationally without being clouded by

thinking about grievances in your life
that can make you angry or depressed.
Ramadan is an opportunity to forgive,
let go, and focus on what is most
important.
2. We fast from more than food and drink.
You are really fasting from any intense
physical desires. You are fasting from
anger, sadness, and frustration. Of
course, you cannot control what makes
you upset, but you can control the way
you react to your situations, and that is
what the month of Ramadan trains you
to do.
Our hearts are fasting from grieving.
Our minds take control, rather than our
emotions.
3. You shouldn’t feel bad for us.
“Oh my God, you can’t eat for the next
15 hours? Wow, I’m so sorry!” No. Don’t
feel sorry. Although fasting can make me
sleepy and tired, the return on
investment is absolutely thrilling. The
feeling of having refrained from
activities that usually just feed my ego is
very empowering.
Fasting is not just a disconnection
between the human body and food. It’s
about building a connection between
you and God. Between you and your
spirit. You are preventing your mind
from becoming a slave to your physical
body and its desires — that’s powerful.
4. Muslims don’t really fast for 30 days

book.
According to The Telegraph, 31-year old Sultan
Kösen from Turkey measures in at 8 feet, 3
inches. Chandra Bahadur Dangi, the 75-year-old
man from Nepal is 1 foot, 7 inches tall.
"Even though he is short and I am tall, we have

Saudi Arabia has upheld the 1000 lashes and 10 year sentence for blogger Raif Badawi who was charged with insulting Islam.Despite The Supreme court passed agreed with the earlier judgement ..

According to Mailonline,Raif Badawi received the first 50 of the 1,000 lashes outside a mosque in the Red Sea city of Jeddah on January 9, but subsequent rounds of punishment were postponed on medical grounds.
His wife Ensaf Haidar said:
'This is a final decision that is irrevocable. This decision has shocked me.'I was optimistic that the advent of (the Muslim fasting month of) Ramadan and the arrival of a new king would bring a pardon for the prisoners of conscience, including my husband.'she said His official crime was to insult Islam but supporters say his real offence was to criticise the country's powerful Sunni clerics.It's believed his lashings are to be carried out at a rate of 50 every Friday for the next 18 weeks.

Leaked video footage taken on a mobile phone sis believed to show the first flogging session, as a shackled and standing Mr Badawi is hit on his legs and back by a policeman with a switch.

Mr Badawi's wife has fled to Canada with their children.

Serena Williams won a dramatic French Open
final against Czech 13th seed Lucie Safarova to
claim her 20th Grand Slam title.
The American, ranked number one, needed two
hours and one minute to win 6-3 6-7 (2-7) 6-2 at
Roland Garros.
Safarova, playing her first Grand Slam final, led
by a break in the decider but Williams won the
last six games.


The 33-year-old becomes the third player - male
or female - to win 20 major singles titles.
Only Germany's Steffi Graf on 22 has won more
since the open era began in 1968, with
Australia's Margaret Court collecting 24 between
1960 and 1973.


Victory at Wimbledon in July would see Williams
hold all four major titles at once, having
managed the feat already in 2003.
There had been doubts over whether the 2002
and 2013 French Open champion would even
make it to court for Saturday's final after a
debilitating bout of sickness.

"It makes this trophy really special," Williams
said. "I really wanted it. I wanted to win so bad.
"I just felt like I had every opportunity in this
match. Being down from the second, third, fourth
round, it wasn't very easy, so I probably topped
for my most difficult time to win.

Progressives Congress, (APC) Chief John
Oyegun has declared Mr. Femi
Gbajabiamila as the candidate to
represent the party in the election for
the seat of Speaker of Nigeria's House
of Representatives.
Mr. Gbajabiamila emerged winner with
154 votes against his opponent, Mr.
Yakubu Dogara who scored 3 votes.
The election which was held at the
International Conference Centre in Abuja
was organised by the National Working
Committee of APC and had 183 APC
House of Representatives Members elect
present out of the 209
members, with 161 votes cast.
While Mr. Gbajabiamila won the ticket,
Mr. Dogara and some of his supporters
boycott the election.
A member of the House, Mr. Jibrin
AbdulMumin who is also a supporter of
Mr. Dogara said he would not participate
in the election because it was impromptu
therefore there was no time to prepare.
Also, Mr. Muhammed Mungonu emerged
as the sole candidate to represent APC
for the position of Deputy Speaker of the
House.
National Leaders of the party have been
engaged in politicking and discussions in
the past weeks to arrive at a concensus
candidate to run for Speaker of the
House but could not arrive at an
agreement hence the election.
Nigeria's National Assembly is to resume
plenary on Tuesday, June 9 and would
elect leaders that would lead the Senate
and House of Representatives for the
next 4 years.

Lagos Airport-– The National Drug Law Enforcement
Agency (NDLEA) says it has arrested a 46-year-
old man for concealing 225 grammes of
Cocaine in his anus at the Murtala Mohammed
International Airport, Lagos.

Tochukwu Prosper Nzom who hails from Anambra State is married with two children. NDLEA quoted the 46 year-old auto parts dealer as saying that he would have been paid 1,500 dollars.He said
“I was drinking with friends when I heard them talking about drugs. I actually volunteered to smuggle drugs because of my financial situation. They agreed to pay me 1,500 dollars because it was only three wraps weighing 225 grammes. I am from a poor home,
Ilemena Chinedu Peter also said that he too requested to smuggle drugs because of financial hardship.


“I am from Enugu State. I am married to a Brazilian lady and we have a child. I work as a salesboy in a supermarket. I dropped out of school in Junior Secondary class 3. I overheard some of my friends discussing about drugs and I indicated interest. That was how it started. The drug was packed in a bag for me and they promised to pay me 2,500 dollars. I am so sad, disappointed and ashamed myself"


The third suspect who has lived in Brazil for about a decade said that he made a costly mistake. In his words,
“I did not know what came over me. I have been a hard working person since my childhood. My wife and three children are in Benin while I struggle in Brazil as the bread winner. My son gained admission into the University and he is very brilliant. I needed to pay for his tuition and other expenses. I would have made 12,000 dollars from the drug deal”.
