MARY-ANNE

Death is not as its portrayed in movies. It is not fun at all, you are not being judged to go to heaven or hell. It is not even filled with with light and it is definitely not immaculate. Its darkness. pitch-black darkness. Your eyes are open but you can see nothing, you are still breathing too but you are alone in a very big pitch-black room with no walls. It is awful.

I know this because I am dead... Or, at least I was dead for a few minutes before the doctors resuscitated me.

"You are lucky to be alive miss Mary," the doctor had said to me as I finally woke up. I noticed a pint of blood was being transfused into my blood stream through a drip.

I believed the doctor because I knew I would have remained dead if Henry hadn't stopped gazing at my half conscious body as I laid on the ground and been wise enough to rush me to a nearby hospital. Every other person who was at the scene was too shocked to move and in as much as I would like to be angry at them for letting me almost die, I can't because I understand their reasons - I had not exactly acted as the most rational person in existence and I owe you all an explanation so here's what really happened. Please note that I'll use the word "rational" a lot in this description.

So you know I am pregnant and my baby's daddy is my boyfriend's room mate, Henry, right? Well, I was confused at the realisation of this fact and did what any rational person would have done - I called Henry.

Henry rationally came over immediately and let me lay my complains before he irrationally stood up and left my house without saying a single word to me. I became extremely confused, who acts like that anyway?

I usually pace when I'm nervous, scared, confused or basically have a sudden rush of emotions, so I paced round my small apartment for minutes in confusion as I thought of what Henry had meant by his actions.

Is that a way of saying he doesn't want to have anything to do with baby? I started to think. I know we are not dating and we should not have had sex, viewing it from a moral point of view, but we had sex without protection and no amount of denial can abort the baby in my womb. On second thoughts maybe its not really a big deal, maybe that's just how he reacts to situations like this and he might have gone to look for a solution to our little problem, but what can be solution to this problem? Contraceptives? No! Its too late for that, I'm already pregnant. Abortion pills? That could work but do I really want to have an abortion knowing people damage their wombs in the process or at the very worst, die. So what then is the perfect solution? Henry can just deny me and the baby and that would be his escape route but what would be my own escape route now that getting rid of the baby is not really an option? My dad would be so disappointed and my mum would finally get to say "I told you so," she did tell me so.

"Oh my God!" I finally thought out loud at this point as I recalled I hadn't even thought about my parents. I suddenly felt a rush of blood into my head and legs almost immediately became jelly. I was having a nervous break down and I knew I needed to sit and give my brain a break before I slumped to the floor so I sat down but I was to worried to stop thinking.

It was all over for me I thought. I had pictured sex as a heavenly act and have always wanted to do it. I have always wanted to be called a complete woman, a fun lady, a "jasi" girl, I have always want to be bad but to at what end? I asked myself rhetorically.

Just then, I heard a knock at door and before I could answer, the person turned the door knob and walked into my house, I had forgotten to lock it when Henry left. It was my neighbour and fairly good friend, Amaka.

"Babes you get Maggi?" She asked as she walked straight to my kitchen. I wondered why she asked in the first place if she was going to check anyway. I kept quite stared.

She soon came out of my kitchen with two cubes of Maggi in her hand and was about to leave when she turned to stare at me for the first time. She paused.

"What's wrong?" She asked as she came closer to me and sat beside me on the bed. "Why are you crying?"

"I'm not crying," I replied as I wiped my eyes only to realise that some liquid was on my face. I was so deep in my thoughts that I had started crying without even knowing.

"What's all this on your face then?" She asked again with a sincere look of concern on her face.

"It's nothing really, don't worry, I'll be fine," I replied and forced a smile. I just wanted to get rid of her so I could think clearly.

"Why are you talking like this na?" She said as she placed an arm over my shoulder. "Don't you know a problem shared is a problem half solved?"

"I said I'll be fine! I just want to be alone!" I said in a rather loud tone and apologised immediately after realising how loud I had spoken.

"It's not a problem but know that I am not leaving here unless you tell me what the problem is." She replied. Why are humans so stubborn.

I starred at Amaka and knew she was serious. She wasn't going to leave if I didn't tell her something so I thought of a smart response.

"Okay, here is the problem," I started to say. "My sister called me this evening and told me she was pregnant. She said the guy responsible walked out on her without saying a word when she told him and she is really confused. She's too scared to have an abortion, plus my parents are really strict, they would definitely not take the issue lightly. She said she doesn't know what to do and is already considering suicide. I wanted to advice her as she told me her problems but even I didn't know what to say. My sister don't make empty threats, I'm scared she would kill herself."

Amaka sat in silence and listened attentively as I explained my dilemma to her. I hoped I hadn't been too obvious with the lie. I didn't want her to know, my "sister" in the story was actually me.

"Oh goodness!" she exclaimed as I finished my story. "Where is your sister right now?"

"She's at school," I replied and added she schooled at Abuja quickly.

"How far gone is she?" Amaka asked calmly, she seemed to be heading somewhere.

"I don't know, she didn't say, but I doubt if its up to a month."

"So what's the big deal?!" She replied rather loudly. "Call her and tell her to go to a pharmacy and buy Mifepristone and Misoprostol. The pharmacist would instruct her on how to take it."

"What's Milfearprestone and Misowhatever?" I asked.

"Basically, they are abortion pills. Since the baby isn't up to eight weeks she won't hurt herself." She explained.

"You don't get it, my sister is scared of anything abortion!" I replied. I had read too much anti-abortion books, watched too many Nollywood movies and even seen with my very own eyes as someone bleed to death from her v*gina all because of an abortion went wrong. There was no way I was going to do it.

"There is no harm in this case. The drugs are not harmful at all besides that's the only way unless she wants to have the baby."

At this point, I broke down in tears once more as I knew Amaka was right. I stood up from the bed and went to the window... I needed some fresh air. I starred blankly through the window for a while as it rained heavily when something interesting caught my attention.

A car pulled up front my compound and after a few seconds, I spotted Henry walking towards it. I let my emotion guide me and I immediately ran out of the house and down the stairs in hope of catching up with Henry. I really didn't know what I was going to say to him but I just needed someone to hold me. Amaka ran after me.

On getting downstairs, someone ran towards me and held me.

"What's wrong babe?" The person said and I thought it was Henry at first but after the person spoke again, I knew it wasn't Henry, I knew the voice. It belonged to my boyfriend, Maxwell.

I looked up at Maxwell and saw the sincere look of worry on his face. It was obvious he really cared, but then I looked at Henry and he gave me a blank stare, I couldn't make any meaning out of his facial impression. I felt really bad that I had to cheat on Maxwell with his friend for that matter. I knew I owed him an explanation at the very least but on looking at Henry, I figured it would be better if I kept my lips shut. Maxwell kept on asking what is wrong and I didn't want to lie to him. I was confused. I needed to get away from Maxwell, Henry, Amaka and basically everyone else.

So I ran blindly. I was knocked down by a hit and run driver and I passed out. I only just woke at the hospital few minutes ago. Only the doctor was in the ward with me.

"How do you feel, Miss Mary?" The doctor asked me as I snapped back to really.

"Sort of sore on my legs but I'm fine in general." I replied.

"Okay, good. You'll be fine if you just rest a little." He replied with a warm smile.

"Thanks doctor." I returned his smile.

"Your friends are really worried and just want to see if you are fine. They are right outside this door, mind if I bring them in for a while?" He asked.

I thought about it. What could possibly go wrong?

"Not at all, bring them in." I replied.

The doctor nodded and went to open the door. About four people flooded in. All familiar faces, Maxwell, Henry, Amaka and one girl who I had no idea where she came from.

"You have five minutes," the doctor said and left the the ward.

Maxwell came to my side and without even asking me how I felt went straight to the point, "Mary-anne, what was that all about?" He asked.

I had a feeling they would be here for more than five minutes.

MAXWELL

You ever do something that seemed like a great idea at the time but later its like you are not so sure anymore?

It was one of those days when we had longer nights and shorter days. I knew this because it was just 7PM but the moon was already out, shinning in its full glory.

I starred at my friend from the bar in utter shock and fear as the moon reflected on him and his two friends. They looked more scary under the moon light.

"What's happening here?" Funmi asked with a confused look. I ignored her and spoke to the thugs at my front.

"No be wetin una think," I replied the "you think say you smart" question I was asked a few seconds ago.

"My man talk say make you show but you come run comot. You no dey fear your father abi?" One of the thugs said in a husky tone.

"I no run comot. I been just wan put my sister for okada make she dey go house," I lied to save Funmi's head. Once again I wasn't proud of the sister line.

"Wait oh..." Funmi said as she walked forward. "Who is your sister?" She asked foolishly. I felt like biting off her ears.

"Funmi, now isn't a good time," I replied calmly after deciding biting her ears was not going to do any good.

"What is happening here!?" She asked once again raising her voice as her face curved into a frown.

"Nothing is happening. Just take this and go home," I said as I dipped my hands into my pocket and brought out a five hundred Naira note.

"She no dey comot here," the third thug who hadn't really said anything from the start finally voiced out. He had a aura of authority.

"This matter no concern the small girl, abeg make she dey go house so I go fit reason una wella." I replied.

"Guy! The Barnie no dey comot here until you first do body well." The thug I had met at the bar said, "where your phone self?" He asked.

"E dey my pocket."

"Bring am make I see."

I knew one thing was certain. If I gave him my phone, I may as well just run home and bring the charger because there was no way he was going to give me back the phone.

"Na just normal Nokia torchlight phone," I lied once again. The lies seemed to be flowing with ease. I used a Sony Xperia.

"Fresh boy like you dey use Nokia torchlight? If I hear!" He replied with a confusing smirk on his face and moved nearer to me in an attempt to search my pocket. I swiftly moved back, avoiding his grip.

"Okay, I go shake body wella if una let me make one call." I finally decided it was time to call for help

"Who you wan call?" The thug who didn't speak much asked.

"I wan my guy for house make him bring bar come." I replied. They obviously wanted money and I had no plans of giving them one Kobo.

The thug seemed to think about my response then he gave an inquiring look at his two friends who nodded in approval.

"Oya make your call sharperly." He replied leaving me wondering what in heaven's name "sharperly" meant.

I walked a short distance from the thugs and dialled number of the one person I knew could help in such situations. Henry. He picked up at the second ring.

"Guy, where you dey?" I asked immediately.

"I dey around, what's up?"

"Abeg you fit come Kela hotel now now?"

"Wetin dey happen for that side?"

"Small wahala dey. Some Norsemen wan show their self for my body," I replied

"Chai! I no go fit walka come under this rain oh," he replied. It was just drizzles now but it looked like it could start raining heavily anytime soon.

"Guy abeg come follow this Baggas reason na. If na only me, you know say I no go call you but I dey with Funmi right now." I explained nervously.

"Funmi? That chick wey just move into our lodge yesterday?"

"Yes."

"I no fit come that area right now bit no worry, I go call my rugged boys for that arena make them go settle the wahala," he replied.

"Thanks bro but abeg make dem dey fast..." I replied in a rather excited tone.

"No wahala," he replied and hung up.

I rejoined the small crowd and informed them my friend from home was on his way with the money.

"No go Bleep us up oh, because if you Bleep me up, I go Bleep you up." One of the thugs threatened.

"Dem no born me well to Bleep una up." I replied.

"Correct. Make we go relax for that bar for that corner," the thug with the aura of authority suggested, pointing at the bar. He moved without waiting for anybody's confirmation.

Funmi and I sat on one table while the thugs sat on the table behind ours. They ordered a round of beer, I wondered if all they did all day was drink.

For the first time since I had met Funmi she was as quiet as a mice. She just sat in silence and at nothing in particular, she was obviously avoiding my gaze which only made me quiet confused as I needed her to look at me before I could figure out how exactly she felt. Angry, sad, disappointed or maybe all three.

"I'm sorry." I said, trying to start a conversation and besides, I didn't know what else to say. She ignored me.

"Funmi," I attempted to say as I tried to place my palm on hers. She swiftly withdrew her palm the table and kept it on somewhere else I had been dying to touch. Her laps. I sighed. I had a feeling this was going to be the last date, if you can call it that, Funmi was going to go on with me.

"What exactly did I do wrong?" I asked ignorantly. I personally just wanted to know what exactly had really offended her.

"Are you seriously asking me that?" She glared. Her eyes pierced through my skin.

"Yes," I replied looking confused

"If you don't know what you did then forget it." She replied.

"But Funmi, you..."

"I said forget it!" She yelled and I knew it was time to shut up.

I have been faced with all kinds of difficult situations with females in the past and I had always scaled through unharmed but the didn't seem to be a way out this time.

I stopped trying to talk to her and waited in silence for Henry's boys to show up. I just couldn't wait for the day to end.

***

FUNMI

So you literally force a lady to go out on a date with you without really asking like a gentleman but she accepts anyway only for you to get to your destination and suddenly get other ideas which you refuse to inform tell her about. Men are just dim wits. They can be pealing your skin with a knife and ask you why you are bleeding.

There was no way I was ever going to go out with Maxwell again in my life, I resoluted within myself as we waited for his so called friend to bring the money which he wanted to give to the thugs. I didn't fully understand what was going on but I had no plans of asking Maxwell again. I just wanted him to get out my sight. I took a quick glance at him and wondered why I had found him so attractive in the first place.

Soon enough Maxwell's phone started ringing and after a short conversation with the caller he left the bar briefly and came back with two guys cladded in red and black clothings.

I naturally assumed they were his friends with the money. He spoke briefly with them and then pointed at the table where the thugs were already on their fourth round of beer. The two guys shook the hands of all three thugs in a strange hand gesture and then asked the thugs to follow them outside. Maxwell went with them.

Five minutes later, Maxwell reappeared and informed me that we could now go home. I was glad that it was all over and thoughts of my super comfy bed flooded my mind. I couldn't care any less about what had happened in those five minutes, all I knew was that the thugs were gone and it seemed like only me noticed they didn't pay for their drinks.

Maxwell led me to a red Toyota and told me it was going to be our ride home. The two guys on black and red both sat at the front seat's of the car. Maxwell and I made ourselves comfortable at the back.

"We would just make one quick stop and then we would go home, we'll need to pick up Henry, my room mate." Maxwell said after we had been on the road for approximately ten minutes. I nodded in response.

We stopped shortly afterwards at the front of a building which was painted orange and lemon, for unknown reasons the gate was wide open so we could clearly see the full front view of the compound. The rain had at this point started to fall heavily once more.

The guy on the wheels brought out his phone and was about to call someone I believed to be Henry when a couple of strange events happened in quick succession like clock work.

Firstly, two girls came down through one of the staircase and walked to straight into the heavy down pour that showered all over. One of them was crying furiously while the other was trying to console her or something like that.

We all looked as this drama ensued right before our eyes for a short while before Maxwell muttered something that sounded a lot like "Mary-anne" under his breath. He seemed to have just seen something that caught his interest. He stepped out of the car into the heavy rain which soaked him in seconds and walked swiftly to where the two girls were.

I could spot another guy approaching the scene with caution, I guessed he was Henry.

"What's wrong babe?" Maxwell asked the crying girl as he wrapped his arms right around her. She wailed louder as if she expected him to understand tears language... Whatever that means.

"Talk to me babe, please what's wrong?" He asked with a sincere look of worry on his face. His hair sloped beautifully down his face as the rain poured with brutal force on him. He looked really attractive at this point and I found myself wondering why he kept on calling this lady in distress babe. I felt a little sting of jealousy.

The crying girl stopped crying and looked at Maxwell face for a short period and then back at Henry who was now at arms length. She snorted and suddenly broke free from Maxwell's grasp, running out of the compound through the gate and down the main road.

What happened next is really difficult to describe. But I can tell you this, whatever happened, left her body on the floor. She was bleeding so badly that her entire clothing was soaked with so much blood it was hard to know where exactly she was injured.

Just then, lightening struck and a loud ear deafening thundering sound followed from the skies. The rain stopped falling almost immediately.

CHAPTER FOURTEEN

WRITTEN BY CHISTAR01

HOPE AT LAST

Mr Brown Dino was restless. He sat on one of the three double-seater sofa in the living room at the left wing of his mansion.

He was roughly in his late forties but looked a lot like sixty as he had aged really fast because of the emotional and financial stress the search for his missing key had made him go through.

He emptied the contents of the glass cup he held with one huge gulp and then refiled it almost immediately from a half empty bottle of Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey on the table at his side. He emptied the glass cup down his throat once again and the pattern occured two more times in quick succession and would have occured once more if his phone hadn't rang at that very moment.

He swiftly stretched to the other end of the sofa to grab his phone and with a quick glance at the screen he picked the call.

"Boss, its done, Christopher is dead." There was a short pause before the caller added, "well, he'll be dead soon anyway." A husky voice said from the other end of the line.

"Good." Mr Brown replied with a smile. One good news at last, he thought.

"But there is a small problem." The voice added before Mr Brown could end the call.

The smile on Mr Brown faded almost as soon as it came and was replaced with a nasty frown. It seemed everybody had some sort of bad news to give him. "What's the problem?" He asked glaring at the wall.

"I wasn't the one who shot target." The caller replied.

"What do you mean by that?" Mr Brown asked with a raised eyebrow.

The caller took a deep breath then went ahead to report all that had happened.

One bullet, who was the caller and a well trained assassin knew better that to go on a mission without wearing a bullet proof vest. Kassim who he had no idea was following him had shot him on the chest and he had fallen to the ground due to the unexpected and brutal force the bullet hit him but the bullet hadn't pierced his skin.

He laid stiffly on the ground and watched in silence as Officer Caleb had suddenly popped out from no where and shot Kassim as it seemed Kassim was about to shot Christopher but just when Officer Caleb thought he was in total control a bullet had hit him too and he died instantly. The shooter who happened to be Kassim's man fired two fatal shots at Christopher that was bound to kill him if he didn't get urgent medical care while Uche, Tonia, Zainab and a half dead Christopher took off in a car. Of course, Kassim's man entered his car and went after them.

He, One Bullet, then stood up from the ground after making sure no other party was coming, entered his car and trailed both cars. He watched from a distance as Uche skillfully got rid of Kassim's man. Uche probably watched too much Fast And Furious because what he did with the car seemed like a very risky hollywood stunt.

One bullet then peacefully trailed Uche's car back to Double R Town where they finally stopped at Christopher's house. Uncertain about what he was to do now, he dialled Mr Brown number. He was at a spot where he could view the house clearly.

It took Mr Brown a while to respond after One Bullet ended his narration but when he did he sounded different. Like a man who had just found out there was hope after all.

"So where exactly are you right now?" He asked.

"At Christopher's house."

"And that thief, Tonia is in the house with her accomplices - Uche and Rimi?"

"Yes boss, there is also a fourth person who Rimi introduced to me as his girlfriend. I think her name is Zainab." One Bullet replied.

"Good. Here is what you are going to do," Mr Brown said with a tone of confidence. "I want you to control the situation. Kill Tonia right away but hold her entourage and accomplices captive. Text me your exact location, I'm on my way." He was tired of the incompetent people he had on the case, he wanted to handle this himself.

"That's not my job description boss. You'll have to pay more."

"I'll pay you whatever you want, just do as I said!" Mr Brown ordered and hung up.

He called Jackson via the intercom and gave him one instruction.

"Get prepared, we are going to say hi to our friends."

** **

The house was ear deafening silent. Blood gushed from Tonia's forehead directly on Christopher's cold body.

The cooling system in the house was not switched on but Zainab looked really pale and shivered like she was freezing.

The trio, Rimi, Zainab and Uche had ducked behind a couch in the living room as soon as they had heard the banging sound of a shot fired. Neither of them knew who the shooter was but they knew they would give away their hiding spot if they attempted to check who had killed Tonia.

"I know you guys are behind the couch," One Bullet said as he walked into the living room after jumping through the window his bullet had shattered. "I'm not foolish nor blind!" He added irritably.

Non of the trio moved.

"I'm not here to kill any of you, that's not my orders, so please come out of your hiding." He continued.

Behind the couch, Rimi could spot Zainab's back on the dinning table and he knew she had a gun in it. He knew he had to get to the bag if he had plans of seeing another day.

"If you aren't here to kill us why then are you here?" Uche asked, trying with all his might to sound courageous.

"Well that's a good question. My employer wants to have a chat with the three of you so I can't leave just yet," One Bullet replied as he placed two fingers on Christopher's neck in search of a pulse. He found non.

"Who do you work for?" Uche asked again, his voice failed him this time as he sounded really scared.

"You know I can't tell you that just yet besides you'll find out soon enough as he is already on his way here," One Bullet replied and then fired two shots at the ceiling. "Enough with the questions and answers section! Get out here... Now!!!" He thundered.

It took them a while to respond but slowly, the three of them stood up from behind the couch and approached One Bullet cautiously. Rimi still had his eyes at Zainab's bag on the dinning table.

One Bullet grinning at the sight of them then quickly glanced round the house. He spotted four chairs around the dinning table and figured they would serve his purpose perfectly.

"Move to the dinning table!" He ordered and they did as instructed. He then made them sit on individual chairs before going on to tie their hands and legs to the chair the sat on with a rope he had brought from his car. He was always prepared.

When he was through, he sat on the fourth chair, closed his eyes and inhaled a large chunk of air down his nostrils.

Finally, some fresh air. The night would be over very soon, he thought.

Rimi was still a little bit far from Zainab's bag which was still on the dinning table but Uche at the other side was barely an inch away from the bag.

Rimi wasn't sure if he should trust Uche enough to tell him about the gun so he could get it but he figured he had a better chance of surviving if he trusted Uche than waiting for the employer of the assassin to come over.

He starred at Uche without blinking for a few minutes hoping Uche would turn to look at him. Finally Uche caught Rimi's stare and Rimi immediately mouthed, "there's a gun in that bag," nodding at the bag on the dinning table.

Uche smiled. He knew exactly what Rimi wanted him to do.

Sleekyshuga - thanks for the correction. I'll correct it right away. Funny thing is when I was proof reading the chapter, even my spell check software highlighted "incasities" as a non-existent word and I intended on correcting it but somehow got distracted and forgot to do so. Please feel free to point out any error or typo you spot and I'll make amendments. Thanks once again.

Sexysapphire - I would have loved to tell you if Mary-anne is just having her period late or something but where's the fun in that? cheesy

Babieghagha - me too smiley

Laykorn - suspense is killing you already? I haven't even started.

Kingphilip - I'll do the needed.

Thanks for all the comments and criticisms.

Today update might come a little late again because I'm supposed to post at the 2014 Collaboration thread too so I have got my hands filled but don't worry, I'll do my very best. Next chapter would be very hot!!! That's a promise.

The weather is truly unpredictable. One minute the sun is so hot that it can roast yam and the next moment it's raining cat and dogs.

I had just left Mary-anne apartment and was in the compound when I looked up at the sky and noticed the sun was no where to be found as the really dark clouds looked like it was about to rain heavily. It was really windy too and my lodge was pretty far so I decided to stay back at Mary-anne's compound for a while and observe if the rain would really fall or Zeus, the greek mythical god of the sky was just bored. I had no plans of getting my Nike Air Max soaked with water.

The lodge Mary-anne stays is a lot similar to mine only that its a one story building and painted lemon and orange. Horrible colours to paint a house if you ask me but what do I know?

I went to one of the stair-case and sat down on it as the rain finally started to drizzle, I had a feeling I was going to be there a long while so I brought out my phone, launched the music player and shuffled the songs. The voice of Coldplay came alive in my ears as the The Scientist played.

My eyes wandered and I caught sight of an excuse for a dog cage. It was a obviously a rushed work of zinc and wood that someone had just nailed together. As the heavy wind flowed, a loose end of the zinc was being blown away and it got stuck on the tyre of a car.

As I watched this with keen interest my mind began to wander and I recalled the events of the past minutes.

I shouldn't have walked out on Mary-anne like that, I started to think. I should have maybe sat and figured out a plan concerning her baby... Our baby. I behaved so irrational and just walked away the one moment in my life where walking away was the worst option.

Thinking of it clearly now, I just slept with her only once, there's every probability that the child is not mine and she just wants to pin the baby on me but let me be sincere with myself, Mary-anne is a virgin, or at least, was a virgin before I did the deed, the blood that stained her mattress is enough proof.

I should probably go back to her apartment and talk things over with her before she does something stupid and maybe call Maxwell. She said she hasn't seen her period, not she's pregnant so it may just be a natural delay or something else. I'm going back to her apartment, I concluded.

I was about to stand up and go back to Mary-anne's apartment when I was startled by my phone which rang and vibrated rather furiously.

I looked at the screen and speaking of the devil... It was Maxwell. I hesitated to pick the call because I had a feeling Mary-anne had been stupid enough to call him. I let it ring and go to voicemail but he called again within seconds, I knew I was going to have to face Maxwell eventually so I pressed the green button and answered the call.

"Guy, where you dey?" Maxwell said from the other end of the line sounding rather angry. My fears was confirmed.

"I dey around, what's up?" I asked, trying my possible best to sound casual.

His next reply wasn't expected.

MAXWELL

"Where are you taking me to?" Funmi asked for the umpteenth time as she walked slowly by my side.

"When we get there, you'll see." I replied. I was starting to feel really mysterious and I liked it.

I would have preferred if we walked to our destination so that I could actually talk to Funmi and get to know her better but it was really windy and I feared it could start raining very soon so I stopped and boarded a bike.

Funmi makes me curious. I have met a lot of girls and dated more than half of them but non of them had ever given me the butterflies-in-my-tummy effect, there was something different about her.

As we got to our destination, I settled the fare and stepped out of the car with Funmi following closely.

We stood at the front of a building painted milk and brown. It had about six floors, a pool, a car park, and an ice cream stand. The sign board at the front had KELA HOTELS, LOUNGE AND SUITES written boldly on it.

"We are here." I said with a wide smile.

"What are we doing at a hotel?" Funmi said in a disappointed tone. She probably saw the sign board and quickly read too much meaning the situation.

Oh! We are not going to the hotel..." I started to say but her raised eye brow made me realise that I was wrong. "Okay, its a hotel alright but we are not here to book a room or something, the hotel has a lounge and that's where we heading to.

"Why are we going to the lounge?" She asked still looking suspicious.

"Well its Monday and there's the Europa league to watch. So we are going to watch football, drink a couple of bottles and maybe I'll finally get to know you better." I said grinning. I expected the football thing to be something new to her since most girls don't like football but Funmi response was rather unexpected.

"Its too early nah... Kick off for the first match is by 7PM and its just 6PM." She replied.

"Well, we can start with the knowing-about-you part first," I said and then added, "you see, if I knew you better, I would have known you watch football too and maybe I wouldn't have tried to be sweet by bringing you here an hour to kick-off."

She sighed and then replied, "there's really not much about me to know but let's go in anyway."

I didn't bother replying. I led the way through the hotel gate. We walked past the swimming pool and ice-cream stand before entering the reception. There were three corridors, all leading to different places, having been here before, I knew the right way to take.

Soon enough we got to a very large square room that had a bar at one edge. The room was dimly lighted with one disco light bulb being the only source of light. There were two seater couch and tables all over the room with a fairly huge TV hung on each of the four walls. The chairs were grouped in twos with a table at the middle. They were positioned in such a pattern that occupants could either face themselves by sitting on opposite chairs or sit side by side, each occupants could clearly watch at least one of the television sets.

The room was empty, safe for the bar attendant and one occupied table at one of the corners. There were three guys who sat round the table but that's pretty much all I could see as little light got to their table. I could feel something sinister about the gathering and I took Funmi to the farthest table I could find just to in case.

"So what can I get for you ma lady?" I asked in a fake French accent as I dropped on one kneel.

"Uhmm... A bottle of Snap would do." She replied with a smile. The butterflies in my stomach got excited.

"One bottle of snap coming up ma lady." I said and went to the bar to get her drink.

The bar attendant was a female on black. Her shoes, jean, top and cap were all black. She sat on a really high stool and all her attention was focused on a Nora Roberts novel she grasped so hard, her veins protruded. I looked twenty-ish.

"Excuse me, can I please get a bottle of Snap and a bottle Night train." I requested.

It took the attendant a while before she closed the book she was reading and asked me what I wanted. I fought the urge to get angry just made my request again without complaining.

She turned to the freezer at her back to get my order and I saw one of the biggest ass I have ever seen in my life. The curve was just the real definition of perfection. Not proud to say it but I could feel some involuntary movements between my legs.

"O boi afa na?" I suddenly heard and snapped back to reality. It took me a while to figure out the person was actually trying to say "O boy how far na?"

I turned to see the person who talked and I was welcomed with the sight of one of the most unkempt beards I have ever seen. It was as if rats ate part of it directly from his face. He was one of the three guys in the lounge.

"I am fine." I replied in good english.

"You just dey soft anyhow sha with you pink lips and fine barnie," he said. Barnie is a slang for babe or better still, girlfriend.

Now, if a guy or have see a couple of guys converse, you'll know whining (flattering in this context) is a normal thing. But there was something different about this stranger whining me, I couldn't quite pinpoint it so I decided to play along.

"No o... I dey learn work for where you dey," I countered. He smiled lightly. The smile disappeared almost as fast as it came.

"So how far na, who goes you?" He asked.

While schooling at Yaba-Tech, you learn a lot of things. The good, the bad and the ugly. You learn certain basic cultist slangs and "who goes you" is one of them. It basically means you should identify yourself, they want to know if you belong to similar cults or not.

"I'm Maxwell." I replied calmly and ignorantly. Anything cultism scared the shit out of me.

He laughed.

"Oya show me some love," he said.

"I no too hold bar on me right now," I replied switching to pidgin english.

"You no hold bar na him you bring your barnie come Kela Lounge?" His voice was quite loud.

"Barnie? No o, I no bring any barnie come o."

"Who that girl come be na?"

"That one for there?" I asked pointing at Funmi.

"Eh," he replied. Eh means Yes.

"Na my cousin be that oh, she just come from village yesterday." I lied. I admit that wasn't the proudest moment of my life.

"Na you cousin now abi? Oya show make we go see my men for that table," he said and turned to go back to his table.

I knew one thing was sure. If I go to the table, I'll probably not leave with my wallet and phone. I had to do something and do it fast.

So without thinking, I left the bar and went the couch Funmi was sitting on, she was quite focused on the television.

Funmi," I called out her name.

"What took you so long?" She asked.

"We need to leave now." I replied.

"Why? Where are we going to?" She asked looking worried.

"Home... Let's go!" I said with a tone of finality.

"You can't just tell me to leave my house and bring me here then suddenly have a change of mind. If demand a reason!" She replied loudly. Her worried look was replaced with a look of anger.

Why are girls so strong headed and stupid? I thought. I mean no offence to the ladies.

"Funmi, let's go now! I'll explain to you when we are out of here." I replied calmly.

It took a while but she finally decided to go with me. She hissed, picked up her bag and walked pass me, pushing me out of the way. I staggered but once I regained my stamina, I ran after her.

She was already outside the gates when I finally caught up with her. It was really dark out side and the rain was still falling but it was a lot calmer, just drizzles.

"What was that all about?" I asked as I grabbed her arm and pulled her to a halt.

"What was that all about? You seriously asking me that?" She asked, literally screaming.

"Yes I am! You have no idea what would have happened in there if we didn't leave when we did!" I replied trying to level her voice.

"What would have..." She was about to say.

"You think say you fast shey?" A voice which came from behind me cut in.

I knew who it was but slowly turned to confirm my fears.

As I turned, I saw not just my cultist friend at the bar but his two friends were with him. They on the other hand looked scary with their bulging chests.

They didn't look too happy.

Harzardous this is a nice story you are running here. You post regularly and that's a good thing but try to make each individual post longer to give it a better official look. Also, there are a few grammatical errors here and there, proof read before posting.

Cheers and following.

The best way to kill a lion is to make it feel comfortable and just when it leasts suspects, you strike.

FUNMI

I was doing basically nothing when I heard a knock on my door, just laying on my bed and watching a Morgan Freeman movie. It was just monday, a day after my arrival at Yaba-Tech and I had no intention of attending any lecture yet. Although I was a little bit anxious to know how my first lecture would be like, I just felt I ought to give myself a week break before l let school work consume all of my time.

I had just found the perfect spot after lots of tossing and turning all over the bed so standing up to check who was at the door didn't sound like a good idea but after staying all day in the house all Sunday and no one visiting, I guess curiosity got the best of me as I wondered who the person at the door was.

I reluctantly walked to the door and without asking who it was, I opened the door and without being surprised at the very least, I found Maxwell standing at my door step. Frankly, I was already wondering when he would come over.

"Errr... Hi," he said, smiling a little too much for the occasion.

"Hello," I replied. I know Hi is the right response for Hi but having grown up surrounded by Nigerians who regularly replies Hi with Hello, I've decided to join them since I can't obviously beat them.

"Okay... I'm going to go straight to the point." Maxwell started to say, "I'm really bored right now and in need of some company. Mind if I chill here with you?" He asked, still smiling. His smile was making me feel a bit uncomfortable.

"Sure, no problem," I replied after thinking about the request quickly and concluding nothing can go wrong. I moved away from the door to let him through and locked the door behind him.

He walked in and went straight to the only painting I had hung on the wall. It was a nature painting of the sun setting above a stream. It wasn't really a special painting but Maxwell seem to take much interest in it.

"This is beautiful," he said as he starred intensely at it. I didn't know what exactly to reply so I just hummed in response and went back to watching my movie.

He starred at the painting a little longer before he turned to speak to me. "You've got a really nice place here."

"Thanks, I replied without looking at him in the face." He was obviously attracted to me and I was obviously attracted to him too but I had no plans of giving him any signs or making the first move.

"So... What's up?" He asked as he sat down on the bed beside me. I had a chair but he just had to sit on the bed beside me... Typical.

"I'm fine," I replied, still not looking at him.

"You know, I can leave if you want me to." He said with a tone of disappointment.

"And why would you want to do that?" I asked acting like I had no idea what I was doing.

"I came here hoping to chill to you and I've been here for over five minutes and you've barley said a word. Not to talk about the movie you are watching. Its obvious I'm not welcomed." He complained.

I finally agreed I had had enough fun. I paused the movie and hibernated the laptop then turned to look at him saying, "so what do you want to do?"

"Well, I have no idea. I was hoping you'll suggest something."

I chuckled. "Me? Suggest something? You are the one who is bored. I have no idea too but I'm down for whatever."

"You know what?" Maxwell asked with a wide grin. He seemed to have found out the perfect solution.

"What?"

"Put on something. I'm taking you out right now." He said.

"Out? To where?" I asked, doing a horrible job at hiding my excitement.

"You'll find out when we get there," he replied, probably trying to sound mysterious.

"What's makes you think I want to go anywhere with you right now?" I asked and noticed his grin faded a little so I continued before he could provide a reply, "besides, you need to tell me where you are taking me to so I'll know exactly what to put on."

"Just put on something casual." He said firmly.

I don't know why I accepted the offer of a stranger to take me out but few minutes later I left my apartment dressed in a black jean and a blue top, I like blue a lot so I have quite a large number of blue tops.

Maxwell took my arm in his and led the way. I had no idea where he was taking me to.

***

MAXWELL

I wasn't really bored, as a matter of fact I had fuel in the house, tonnes of unfinished movies and video games, tonnes of books to read and an endless list of places I could go to but I decided to go and see my newest neighbour, Funmi.

She had been all that was on my mind since I first met her and I just had to see her, so without really thinking of what I would say to her, I went downstairs to her flat and knocked at the door, it took her a while to open the door and then I found myself telling her how bored I was and how I needed her company. She let me in and my eyes caught the sight of a very beautiful painting.

I once dated a Creative Art and Design student who really took art and design quite serious and I got to love art thanks to her. What struck me the most about the painting on Funmi's wall was the fact that I saw the signature of my ex on it which meant she was the one who painted it. What was her painting doing on Funmi's wall? I made a mental note to ask her when next I saw her.

When I snapped back to reality I went to sit down beside her on the bed and tried starting a conversation but her response wasn't encouraging so I decided to apply reverse psychology and then told her I could go if she wanted, I knew she wouldn't want me to go but I wanted her to admit it.

The Reverse Psychology thing worked and she stopped watching the movie and gave me her full attention.

"What do you want to do?" She asked me and it was then I realised that I had made a mistake. I should have thought about what I was going to her flat to do before I did. My dumb heart had told me to see her and I had just stupidly done so with no plan.

"Well I have no idea, I was hoping you'll suggest something." I said in a low tone.

She didn't have any suggestions neither and then two wires in my brain touched and a spark followed. I got an idea. A really good idea.

"Put something on, I'm taking you out." I said and after a little expected reluctance and a few questions she started dressing into something casual.

All girls like a spontaenous guy and I had a spontaenous idea in my mind, what I didn't know was that staying at home would have been a better idea.

HENRY

As the bike I boarded to Mary-anne's house came to a screeching halt at the front of her gate I quickly jumped down and settled the bills.

While I walked to her flat, I had a mental battle trying to deduct what she meant by "I want to see you and we need to talk".

She may want me to sleep with her again, I had first thought, but I concluded that won't if at all she offers. The first time was a mistake... A huge mistake. Maxwell and I never really got involved in each other's relationship not to talk of sleeping with each other's girlfriends, it just turned out that Mary-anne and I had a little too much to drink.

My mind wandered for a few minutes in search of an explanation but I couldn't think of any reason why she had called me over I decided to stop disturbing myself and just face whatever came my way.

Just like clockwork, her door swung open just as I got to her door. She didn't even allow me to knock. I tried to catch a glimpse of her face before walking into her apartment but she seemed to have found something really interesting on the ground as she starred intensely downwards.

She bolted the door as soon as I entered and then started pacing around. I stared at her in silence from the really comfortable couch I sat on. She lived in a self contain apartment with a room mate I barely saw. The room contained a couch, a bed, a Plasma TV set, a home theatre, a shoe rack and a bed-side freezer, how all of that entered the small room was purely some sort of powerful sorcery.

"Are you going to talk to me or pacing around is a better idea?" I finally asked as I got the hint that she wasn't going to talk anytime soon. She didn't reply and paced faster.

"Mary! Would you sit your ass down?" I instructed with a rather loud tone as I started to get irritated by her steady pacing.

This time she paused for a while then sat at the edge of the bed, the one farthest from me. She kept quiet.

"So what's up? Why did you call me here?" I asked. She replied me with an unwelcomed silence. "You realise I don't have all day right?" I continued and once again she kept quiet. It was obvious she was avoiding looking at me. I became rather nervous, "TALK TO ME!" I said very loudly.

It took her a while but she finally turned to look at me in the eyeballs and said, "I haven't seen my period."

I paused for a while... No, the whole world paused for a while and then I did what no rational human would do. I stood up and made to leave her house.

I could feel her eyes shooting arrows at me as I worked the bolt on the door and once it was unlocked, I walked out and slammed the door behind me.

HENRY

I like Kid Cudi music. I'm not trying to advertise or anything like that bit his music speaks to my soul. Why I said that? I have no freaking idea, but now that I've said it, let me introduce myself to you.

My name is Henry but you can call me Henry, see what I did there? Anyway, I school at Yaba College of technology which would be from now on be called Yaba-Tech and I'm a third year electrical engineering student. I'm bright, smart, wise and really talented or at least that how I like to think of myself.

I love music but just like Maxwell, my room mate, I hate anything Justin Bieber, One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer, what a band name. Bunch of gay white boys.

I'm a very reserved person, I love my privacy and I like minding my business and I hate unnecessary gists. I love being alone not because I'm a loner but because that's just my kind of person, so that's why I wasn't really the most excited person in the world when Maxwell came home a day ago or two days ago, not really sure, but he came and started whining in my ears about a new chick he met.

"O boy, you need to see this chick," he had said the added, "she too set die."

I hummed weakly since I was really interested in the conversation. Maxwell is a womaniser, a player, a casanova, a lecher a Whatever-you-like-to-call-him and he meets new chick everyday so meeting a new chick wasn't really a headline news. The story always ended same way, he dumped them after using them. The only girl he probably haven't used since I have known him is one of his multiple girlfriends like that, Mary-anne. From what he told me, she's a virgin and he doesn't want to be the one who would do the bad deed. I believe him.

"She dey stay for this lodge, she been move into the room under our own yesterday," he continued.

"You follow am talk?" I asked, getting interested. Maxwell had a policy of not dating girls that lived in the same building as him, he felt it was safer that way.

"Sure na, you no trust me?" He asked rhetorically with a smile and then went ahead to give me a well detailed gist of how he had flirted a little with her before helping her to carry a ridiculously ugly pink box (his words) and then pecking her on the chicks before going for football training. I knew the peck part was a lie... It didn't even fit the whole story at all.

"So how the package dey go now, you don call am?" I asked.

"Not yet oh, I no wan rush things." He replied. I wanted to laugh at how stupid and strange he sounded but decided it wasn't worth the stress.

"Na you sabi," I replied finally and then I was saved by the bell. My phone started ringing. I stared at the screen for a short while and as I saw the caller ID, my mind took me back to recall the events of the past, two weeks ago to be more specific. I wasn't sure if I wanted to pick the call or not.

"Who dey call you?" Maxwell asked as he changed to casual clothing, he had just returned from church. I always wonder why he deceives himself by going to church so often. To each, his own, I guess.

"Na one chick like that," I replied vaguely and picked the call.

"What's up?" I said as I walked to the balcony.

"I'm fine, how about you?" The caller replied.

"Not bad. Are you still at school?" I asked in an attempt to sound casual.

"Yea."

"Alright, cool. Hope you day wasn't stressful, I replied, trying to keep the conversation going.

"No, not at all." The caller replied coldly.

"Why are you sounding this way?" I asked. A short silence followed.

"I want to see you, we need to talk." The caller replied. One thing you need to know about females is the only use the phrase "we need to talk" when there is trouble and I've always tried to avoid hearing it but I guess I didn't try enough.

"I'm coming over," I replied with a loud sigh and hung up.

***

MARY-ANNE

I'm new to a lot of things. Night clubs, boys, drinking, back stabbing bitches and sex... Yes, sex.

I was brought up in a Deeper Life church home. I didn't even have the luxury of watching television as my parents refused to buy one, I still don't understand how watching television would have made me go to hell. Certain religious believes makes me just confused. That was basically how growing up was, try to picture that and maybe you'll get to understand why I may sound so naïve sometimes.

I am 21 and I only just lost my virginity two weeks ago to the person I least expected to give it to... Henry.

It would have be cool and a little justifiable if he was my boyfriend but he isn't, rather he is my boyfriend's room mate.

How it happened? I really can't say all I know is a bottle of Baileys and about one thousand naira worth of Suya was involved before my panties were pulled off. The funny thing is I don't really regret it as Henry is a really cool guy and I really like him so what's the big deal, I'm an adult after all and its just sex, nothing serious can happen between us because he is so secretive and there's something sinister about him that I can't really figure out. That's what I've been telling myself all week in an attempt to deceive myself. Truth is I've always had a thing for Henry since day one.

I had paid Maxwell a visit a day after we met at a night club - that was my first time of going clubbing. His self contain apartment was well furnished. They had basically everything from a split air conditioner to an expensive looking game console attached to a '42 inches Samsung LCD television.

Maxwell had introduced me to Henry as his wife even though he hadn't paid my bride price and Henry had complement on how beautiful I was and then went ahead to say "awon Iyawo wa! So you are the Mary-anne Maxwell has been talking about all week." Boys! I had thought and chuckled lightly.

"What's funny?" Henry had asked.

"I just met her yesterday at the club," Maxwell replied grinning and Henry's chick grew red in embarrassment.

"You understand as e dey go na?" Henry said with a warm smile and I saw his full features clearly for the first time. He had dimples, pink lips and even though he didn't have a hot body as Maxwell, he was close enough.

I smiled in response and Henry left the house few minutes later as I tried to get comfy. He returned shortly afterwards and without saying a word to neither me or Maxwell, he walked to the balcony. Soon enough I heard the sound of a match stick being struck which was followed by the smell of smoke. Weed smoke.

I totally fought the urge to ask questions and just talked with Maxwell as we got to know ourselves better. Maxwell didn't attempt to woo me, let alone touch me and being the naïve girl I am, that was enough reason to call him a good guy, so when he finally wooed me few weeks later, I accepted. This meant I got to see Henry a lot and of course we grew closer as friends which explains why he was at my house a week ago with a bottle of Baileys and a nylon bag filled with Suya.

A friend of mine had died, she had a hole in her heart so I was really sad and updated my whatsapp status as - God giveth and God taketh, Henry probably saw this and buzzed me. He was curious about what was going wrong and I refused to talk about it so he stopped replying me. Thirty minutes later he was at my door steps and well you know the rest.

Now, enough of the reminiscing and back to the present.

There is a problem. A very serious problem. Its been two weeks since I saw Henry let alone talk to him and since my conscience is judging me I have seen Maxwell neither. But the problem is really tough and that's why I called my Henry, my "friend" over to my house not long ago.

Just because courtesy demands it, let me introduce myself to you. My name is Mary-anne and I'm pregnant.

WHY I WANT TO BE BAD

-1-

FUNMI

My name is Funmi. A 19 years old in my first year at the Yaba College of Technology, simply known as Yaba-Tech. All my life I've been behind locked doors, literally speaking. My dad had made sure of that, well, not until about three months ago when I got admission at Yaba-Tech.

Dad, as expected had made sure I schooled in Lagos so it would be easy to lock me up for a longer time but after much persuasion for about a month, he finally agreed to let me stay at school but with certain conditions which included I visited home every weekend and I stayed off-campus in any lodge of his choice. It wasn't a really fair deal but it was sure fairer than going to school from home daily.

I left home for school about a day ago which was a Sunday. The sun was scorching hot perhaps because of the "Sun" in Sunday or something. Dad had made sure I followed him to church and he had taken me to see the priest privately who prayed for me, advised me and all of that crap. Pardon me but I'm not keen on the religion thing.

Dad drove for four straight hours with very minimal traffic on the road before finally cruising through the gates of a three story building. Far enough, I thought.

The building was painted ash and brown with a really stylish flower impression pasted all over the walls. Its "U" shape gave it a uniquely nice look. "Not bad," I murmured as I quickly scanned the lodge.

"Its Mega Hilton," Dad said as though he heard me.

"What?" I asked, not really getting his point.

"Mega Hilton, that's the name of the lodge," he explained.

"Oh! Okay." I replied as I opened the door and walked to the car trunk to take out my box. Dad had already furnished my apartment some day back so all I really had to carry was my box of clothes, a small cute pink 20 inches long box, and my laptop which had a bad of its own and don't worry, its black, not pink.

By the time I had pulled the box out of the car, I heard the sexiest baritone voice ever, "I can help you if only you ask nicely," he said.

I turned to look at the person who spoke and my eyes were welcomed by a very warm smile. He was well built, slightly taller than me and was putting on a complete Real Madrid kit with a knapsack which I suspected was home to his football spikes. I watch a lot of football and I'm a Barcelona fan so I wasn't really impressed by the jersey.

"I'm just kidding," he said, snapping me back to reality. I had been lost in my thoughts thinking about why he couldn't have supported any other club at all.

"You okay?" He asked.

"YeaIAmGreat." I finally replied, rushing my words and making them sound like just one word. I was nervous and you know how some people stammer when they are angry? Well this is what I do when I'm nervous.

"So...?" He asked, looking at me as if I was supposed to know what he was talking about.

"So what?" I asked.

"The box and you asking me ni..."

"Funmilayo!" My dad suddenly interrupted. I had forgotten he was still there, he had an inquisitive love on his face.

"Good afternoon sir, I'm Maxwell," the Madrid-Jersey-wearing-guy said, his sexy baritone voice had been replaced by a confident baritone voice. "Seems you're new here, I was just offering to help with the box and show you around," he added as he noticed my dad inquisitive look was still on.

"Oh! Alright," Dad said after a few seconds of silence. "You live here right?"

"Yes sir," he replied.

"Okay, take us to room 39." Dad said with a note of finality. He always does that, he likes bossing people around.

"Sure, that's just directly above my room," Maxwell replied with a grin and I can swear he stylishly winked at me in a way only me saw it. I smiled.

He picked up the box and led the way through the northern stairway, Mega Hilton has three stairways all leading upstairs, the architect of the building sure knew what he was doing. There were exactly 63 apartments so that explains the "Mega" in its name.

Maxwell left once he had dropped the box at the door, he said something about being late for training and encouraging me to ask him for anything at all if I'm in need. My dad pulled him aside and after saying somethings silently to him, he took Maxwell's number and that was it, Maxwell was gone. I was sure dad was probably giving Maxwell the "can I trust you speech?" And also telling Maxwell to keep an eyes on me, being bossy again, like I said, he always does that. Dad left shortly afterwards.

I had a feeling I was going to be be seeing Maxwell a lot and he was probably going to try and do as my dad said, watching over me but that wasn't a big deal, all I knew was I finally had my freedom.

***

MAXWELL

Before I introduce myself or do any of all that formalities let me start by saying this, Maxwell is a child of God and a born again Christian. Not joking.

Now, for the formalities, my name is Maxwell, just in case you haven't figured that out yet. I'm a 3rd Year Computer Science student at Yaba-Tech and I love Jesus. Still not joking.

My hobbies include going to church on Sundays, Wednesdays for mid-week service and Saturdays - seriously still not joking, I drum for my church choir, I don't sing at all, singing isn't my strong point but nevertheless, its safe to say I'm a chorister. So since technically, I'm a chorister, and the choir practice on Saturdays, I have to be at church every Saturday, so that explains the Saturday church going.

My other hobbies include reading, although this don't apply to academic books which actually matters. I can read anything and basically everything, let me just say I'm one of those people who actually read the Terms and Conditions when opening a twitter account and I even go as far as reading the ingredients on the Dove Rich Nourishing Body Moisturiser, did you know they used an acid to make the body cream, Linoleic Acid to be specific, not exactly your ideal hazardous acid but hey! Its still an acid.

And finally I love football - repping Real Madrid FC and Music. Just like reading, I listen to everything except Justin Beiber and One direction. I fucking loathe them! Tiny gay things. My opinion.

Basically, I live a simple and God fearing life or at least I try to, just that the issues of the flesh can be so overwhelming sometimes. I'm handsome, really comfortable financially and talented - I play four musical instruments really well. Although I love the dude, my room mate, Henry, is a free spirited do-whatever-I-like-and-take-life-unseriously stoner, so you can only imagine how hard my life is.

I have two girlfriends. Amaka, a really slutty girl and fun girl who nags a lot and Mary-anne, a really churchy girl who compared to Amaka is no fun. The irony of this is I met Amaka at a church and Mary-anne at a night club. Looks can be deceiving.

Just between you and I, I don't love neither of them, I just like them, I really like them. I've never really believed in love, I don't think its the way people portray it, you know those people who regard love as a do or die affair and all of that. Me? I just try to balance my life and do whatever makes me happy but something unusual happened yesterday.

I was going for training. I'm on my departmental football team and we had the Dean's Cup forthcoming. So we had to train if we wanted to retain bragging rights for an additional session. Yes, we are the current champions.

Anyway, as I walked out of the stairway into the quadrangle of the building, I lived in Mega Hilton, my eyes stumbled upon the prettiest thing I had ever seen. "It" was a girl. An about 5.8 feet tall beauty cladded in a dark blue jean and a light blue flower patterned top, thinking of it now, it's really just a casual wear but it looked angelic at that moment.

She was struggling with a ridiculously ugly pink box, it was so big that from my calculations, two people her size could enter the box if they were keen to... Okay I'm just exaggerating but it was really big. Get my point?

The box was a good distraction but not good enough to totally distract me from the beauty that wielded it. I was no doubt attracted to her at first sight and as I watched in amusement as she struggled to pull the box out of the trunk, I felt butterflies in my stomach... Whatever that means.

If I was dumb enough to believe love exists and maybe go as far as believing love at first sight, I would have said this is one of those love-at-first-sight scenarios, but gladly, I'm not dumb. Love do not exist.

"I can help you if you ask nicely," I said as I walked up to her. I finally decided standing and staring at her wasn't a genius idea.

As soon as I said that, she gave me The Look. The Look as I call it is the first look of surprise a girl gives me when I try to act sexy and funny, you see, I don't really look like the sweet talker kind of guy so I get The Look always.

"I'm just kidding," I said to break the ear deafening silence that followed. The Look always made me slightly uncomfortable.

"You okay?" I added.

"YeaIAmGreat," she finally replied rather fast. A quick tongue, I assumed.

"So...?" I asked, trying to bring back the box topic.

"So what?" She asked.

"The box and you asking me ni..." I was about to say when her dad who I hadn't noticed at all interrupted me.

"Funmilayo," he had said. I naturally assumed the Lady in blue was who he was referring to. Funmilayo, nice name, I thought.

"Good afternoon sir, I'm Maxwell," I said as I noticed the inquisitive look on his face. I got no reply but I further read the look on his face and it seemed like he was asking me "so what can I do for you?"

"Seems you are new here, I was just offering to carry the box and show you around," I replied the unanswered question.

"Oh! Alright. You live here right?" He finally asked, out loud this time.

"Yes sir."

"Okay, take us to room 39." He said authoratively. I beamed out of joy as I heard this.

"Sure, that's just directly above my room," I said and then played a risky card. I quickly winked at Funmi, hoping her dad won't notice. He didn't and Funmi smiled. I picked up the box and lead the way.

On getting to her room door, I suddenly remembered I was late for training and had to hurry so I gave Funmi the usual formality lines and just as I was about to go, he dad pulled me aside. My heart skipped a beat. He definitely saw the wink and wanted to warn me or even at worse threaten me to leave his daughter or something like that. I shouldn't have winked.

"There are good people and there are bad people, Maxwell are you a good person?" He asked me in a very low tone. I was surprised by the question but nodded in the affirmative.

"I want to trust you, can I do that?" He asked.

"Errr... Yes sir, you can," I found myself saying. I probably replied out of curiosity. I personally won't advice anybody to trust anybody at all, especially not me because, well, my ways are quite complex.

"Oluwafunmilayo is my only daughter, my jewel and my last kid. Take care of her for me." He said and I could see from looking at his eyes that he trusted me fully already. How can people trust so easily? I thought, perhaps everyone has a breaking point, my subconscious replied.

"I'll do my best sir," I replied, that's the best answer I could come up with."

"Good. I know you would. Give me your phone number so I can call you from time to time to check on things," he said and gave me his number, "feel free to call me anytime too for any assistance you might need," he added.

I gave him the number and left with one thought on my mind... Would Funmi go to church with me?

I'm still not joking, or am I?.

LiteratureWhy I Want To Be Bad - A Story by chistar01(op):
I know I haven't been on Nairaland for a while, been really busy working on several off-the-radar stories, articles and of course school stuffs.

So to make up, I've dropped all other works for this.

On my blog, I promised you guys that I've a lot planned out and initially I planned on starting this story next year January but as the year is coming to an end and this story plot seems to have really developed, I decided to do a Beyonce and drop it today. Its not even on my blog yet funny enough, I just felt Nairaland helped built me, so I should drop it here first, you guys comments, criticism, words of encouragement etc are all highly encouraged and the reception to the story would determine how often I'll post a chapter but for now let just stick to one chapter per day

This is the first instalment of the Why I Want To Be Bad three parts series. Each season would have 20 - 40 episodes so sit back tight and relax cause you are in for a long fun ride.
