That's the issue here. We're looking for someone to shield the defence and kickstart attack. You cannot keep Verratti in front of your of defence and Herrera from what I've seen cannot do that job consistently; maybe against poor midfielders. So if one put Verratti, Herrera and Pogba, who shields the defence?

The job requires someone with concentration, comfortable on the ball, strong, good awareness and can handle pressure. He doesn't really need to be fast and have very good long range passes, Busquets doesn't, as long as he can make short and quick passes. I think he has these attributes from what I've watched.

Try and compare the two Midfielders. Carvallho is pure Muscle and grit.
he can only be bested by a technically gifted no 10, who doesnt mind doing the dirty work.

I've wanted us to bring Carvalho here having watched him in last Euro and against R.Madrid, and looking at our midfield set up. He can replace Carrick without us making changes to the midfield I think. As for the other guy, I have not watched him.
