A guy walked up to me to borrow him 100k to balance up his house rent. That the money is with his brother who stays in dubai. It was on a Friday, he said his brother couldn't exchange the money bla bla, that on Monday morning before 10am I'll get it back.

I too was sourcing for house. Out of pity, I gave him 100k have been saving up for my house rent. I told him that I'm meant to pay mine on Wednesday. He gave his word again that Monday unfailingly.
I collected the money 2months after, it was paid in 5k, 3k, 20k. I couldn't cry. Not a sweet experience.

Well i want to go into agricuture (cassava production) and have been reading alot and i also got into with someone who manages hectares of cassava farms etc at a farm settlement in ekiti state, it's been encouraging so far and have come up with a business proposal and a host of other but my concern is

1.how lucrative is it cos different people having been quoting several figures concerning the amount/ Ton?

2.What are the important techniques to manage the farm?

3. Which of the variety is high yielding with high starch content?

4. Is it more profitable to sell the raw tubers or pocess into garri for a start?

I need your advice

Am starting with a 5 hectares of farm land and dm sourcing for finance right now though and i need partners

1) Cassava is quite lucrative in the sense that, u spend less but get more profit. Unlike other crops that needs full hands care and big expenses. Cassava is less stressful. Plough your land, buy good stem, apply fertiliser and weed appropriately.

You have heard it all. 4 tons of cassava produces 1 ton of garri. You have 2 hectares. Assuming all factors and theoretical projections are constant, you should be getting between 20 to 40 tons of cassava, or 5 to 10 tons of garri (i.e. fifty to one hundred 100kg bags), which should fetch you N1.13m to N2.26million in sales. Of course there is the starch by-product.

Caveat: Please, all these my figures are just projections. When you actually harvest and weigh your crop, you will know how many tons of cassava you have at your disposal. Other costs will come into play as well.

Apply fertiliser when due and weed at the right time. trust me you can get up to 30k profit per hectare.

1) Depending on the quantity.
2) If we are selling to companies. The company usually do have a machine which measures the tons. But locally, 3 Basket makes up 1ton.
3) TME 419 and TME 35021
