Christianity EtcAnglican Church To Ordain Nigeria’s Gay Cleric by chuka85(op): 12:01pm On Mar 22, 2019
The England Anglican Church has disclosed plans to ordain a Nigerian Gay Cleric, Jide Macaulay in June 2019.
Macaulay in an instagram post expressed delight about the honour.

“It is a delight to share this news, I am to be ordained Anglican Priest in the Church of England in June 2019.
“Wait on the Lord, be of Good courage and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait I say, on the Lord” Psalm 27:14.”

Known for his advocacy about the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT), Macaulay was born into a family of clerics and has also founded House of Rainbow, Nigeria’s first house of worship catering to the LGBTQ community.

While the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has not responded to this development, the church has always rejected calls from western powers to ordain gay priests.

CrimeBREAKING: Facebook Faces Criminal Probe Of Data Deals by chuka85(op): 3:28pm On Mar 14, 2019
US prosecutors have launched a criminal investigation into Facebook’s practice of sharing users’ data with companies without letting the social network’s members know, The New York Times reported on Wednesday.
A grand jury in New York has subpoenaed information from at least two major smartphone makers about such arrangements with Facebook, according to the Times.
Regulators, investigators and elected officials around the world have already been digging into the data sharing practices of Facebook which has more than two billion users.

The social network’s handling of user data has been a flashpoint for controversy since it admitted last year that Cambridge Analytica, a political consultancy, used an app that may have hijacked the private details of 87 million users.
“It has already been reported that there are ongoing federal investigations, including by the Department of Justice,” a Facebook spokesman said in response to an AFP inquiry.

“As we’ve said before, we are cooperating with investigators and take those probes seriously. We’ve provided public testimony, answered questions, and pledged that we will continue to do so.”
Facebook has shared limited amounts of user data with smartphone makers and other outside partners to enable its services to work well on devices or with applications. Regulators, and now prosecutors, appear intent on determining whether this was done in ways that let users know what was happening and protected privacy.

The California-based social network has announced a series of moves to tighten handling of data, including eliminating most of its data-sharing partnerships with outside companies.
The focus of the grand jury probe was not clear, nor was when it started, according to the Times, which cited unnamed sources.

PoliticsAkpabio Finally Dumped Nsima, Supports Udom by chuka85(op): 12:37pm On Mar 04, 2019
SEVEN (7) DAYS TO GUBERNATORIAL AND HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY ELECTIONS IN AKS, AKPABIO FINALLY DUMPED NSIMA

Barely seven (7) days prior to the Gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections in Nigeria, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, former Governor of Akwaibom State, former Senate minority leader and the outgoing Senator representing AkwaIbom State North west Senatorial District, has finally and Officially poured out his mind.

It could be recalled that the Senator Jumped ship for unknown reasons from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State, to the opposition All Progressive Congress (APC) and the apostasy was described Nationwide as UNCOMMON DEFECTION.

He contested to return to the Red Chamber in the just concluded National Assemblies elections under his new Party, APC platform where he experienced an unimaginable wide Margin defeat by his contender from the State ruling party, PDP, Engr. Christopher Ekpenyong aka UKARAKPA.

All other two Senatorial seats and 10 House of representatives seats (13/13) in Akwaibom State where incomparably floored by PDP which seemed to wield both the minds of other APC Candidates (Gubernatorial/House of Assembly) and supporters to a state of LOST.

Specifically, the weights of the thirteen over thirteen (13/13) exceptional defeat has inevitably generated wallops on the APC Gubernatorial candidate who held much sway to Senator Akpabio whom he regarded as the final decision maker in Akwaibom state.

Surprisingly, on seeing the handwriting on the wall and the tilting direction of power, Akpabio has finally come out and advised AkwaIbomites to vote for PDP at all levels. He confirmed that Akwaibom state is doing remarkably well in spite Political party difference with the Federal Government.

With reference to the video clip attached,
He said "I want to let you know that the idea of people telling you that you can not play opposition politics is STUPID"

He further explained that, there has never been a time where a party at the centre controls the 36 states of the federation, educating the people that, Akwaibom will still have it statutory federal positions like MINISTER etc, advising them to discard the APC ill-campaign talks of aligning with the party at the centre.

This declaration has put the state APC chapter in shambles and devastation which has led the APC Gubernatorial candidate seeking for federal might in the forth coming elections, thus, Buhari's Visit to Akwaibom, speculated to be today 4th March, 2019.

RomanceWoman Covers Her Face In Period Blood To Show They're 'beautiful' And 'powerful' by chuka85(op): 4:11pm On Feb 28, 2019
Demetra Nyx spent years hiding her periods from boyfriends and being extremely embarrassed every time she came on.
But when a change in her contraception meant she had to start keeping a closer eye on her cycle, she started to see things very differently.
She grew to love her time of the month, saying it's "beautiful and powerful", and wanted to share her new appreciation with woman around the world.
She started collecting her blood and one day had an "impulse" to smear it across her face and share photos online.
She said: "We hold so much shame in our bodies, and most of us do not realise it until we intentionally explore it. Our periods are an incredibly magical time of month that holds immense power, and our society keeps us away from that as much as possible.
"I am endlessly fascinated by my body and its patterns. Many people talk about the parts of the cycle being like the seasons, with the energy of ovulation being like summer, and the energy of menstruation being like winter. I think that's generally true, but I've also found it's very individual.
"Sharing pictures of blood on my face and body was just an impulse I was creating a series to help women connect with their menstrual cycle, and I thought it would be fun. We can also do things like paint with it or pour it into the earth. I believe it's a beautiful thing to get comfortable with touching your own blood.
"There is a tremendous amount of power in learning that we can experience pleasure from the parts of our bodies we deem in society as 'disgusting'. If we can love the unlovable, all of life opens up to us. We spend a lot of time learning to control our bodies; instead I believe in learning from our bodies.
"My blood to me has become fun, beautiful, and powerful, and playing with it brings me closer to myself." Demetra, who lives in Los Angeles and works as a sex coach, had her first period when she was 12.
Throughout her teens she was embarrassed about them and viewed them as "disgusting".
She would hide then from boyfriends and was always paranoid the blood would leak through her clothes or onto her sheets.
After having the IUD fitted when she was 20, Demetra's periods became extremely painful
It was hen she had it removed and went back to using condoms that she discovered her new love for her periods.
Demetra said: "My period was never painful before my IUD, so the pain didn't bother me during my teenage years. I was simultaneously embarrassed and fascinated by my period. I felt apologetic about it a lot and tried to hide it from boyfriends.
"Our society teaches us that periods are dirty and inconvenient. Ads about menstrual products talk about smelling 'fresh' or making us cleaner, implying that our bodies' natural functions are gross.
"Women who complain about cramps are seen as weak and pathetic, even sometimes by other women we're expected to suck it up and basically pretend it doesn't exist. In the US, we have a president who negatively described a woman as having 'blood coming out of her whatever.' It's a belief that's forced upon us.
"My work as a sex coach largely focuses on where we hold our stories in our bodies. What society taught us about ourselves, what we learned about being women, assaults we may have experienced, what we learned our bodies are capable of during sex."
For Demetra, her periods are still painful as she has some symptoms of endometriosis, but she says she finds a strength in loving her time of the month regardless of how it makes her feel.
Since sharing her images celebrating her period on Instagram , Demetra has received both positive and negative comments, with some people telling her she may as well be wiping poo on her face, something that only encourages her to keep posting honest pictures of her blood.
She said: "My energy levels vary by month, but usually I spend a lot of time resting and caring for my body and listening to what it needs, and sometimes I do rituals to honour my bleeding.
"Something I get a lot is women saying, 'I was so triggered by your period posts at first, but eventually I became inspired, and now I love my cycle too'. I receive a lot of DMs on Instagram of women with their blood all over themselves. They just don't feel as comfortable to share it publicly.
"A really common comment I get is, 'oh, you should just wipe poop all over your face then, it's the same thing'. I also heard from friends and family that it was 'weird' and 'disgusting', and some people didn't talk to me because of it.
"That encourages me to keep posting them if it wasn't having a necessary impact, people wouldn't be so bothered by it.
"I receive way more positive comments than negative. I think women are at a point where we really want to be able to love our bodies and bring these taboo topics out into the light. It amazes me how uncomfortable we are with sharing our full selves with the world, and I want to be a messenger for that."
Demetra also have a few words of advice for other women.
"I think it begins by recognising that our disgust towards our bodies is not innate it is a learned societal behaviour.
"Our bodies want to protect us, and when we learn that having a certain view might get us rejected socially, we do everything we can to prevent that from happening. But since it's learned, we can unlearn it.
"It can begin with just tracking your cycle or using a menstrual cup to collect your blood. No one has to put their blood on their face, though it's seemed pretty liberating for women who have."

PoliticsSee Kim Jong Bulletproof Train Taking Him To Vietnam To Meet Trump by chuka85(op): 2:02pm On Feb 24, 2019
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is making a 60-hour journey to Vietnam - where he will meet Donald Trump - on board a bulletproof train dubbed the 'Kim Jong-un Express'.
The green train with yellow
horizontal stripes was spotted crossing the Yalu river into
 China on Saturday night.

The one-of-a-kind luxury train is said to carry a small army of bodyguards and bulletproof cars that can usher the 'supreme leader' to safety if he is attacked.
It resembles the armoured transport his father, Kim Jong-il, used for lavish parties during trips to China or Russia - reportedly with lobster, cases of French wine and female entertainers known as 'lady conductors'.
The private train's specially-crafted carriages are reinforced with a coat of armour and have tinted windows to hide those on board.
No
-one knew how Kim intended to make the journey to Hanoi for his
second peace summit with the US president - on Wednesday and Thursday - until the
train rumbled over the border bridge into China.
Along the way, it would have passed small villages where Kim's people are living in poverty and squalor.
Photos released by North Korean state media show Kim standing in a carriage door and waving shortly before the train left the capital Pyongyang.
He's opted to travel about 60 hours by rail instead of taking a four-hour flight.
The train - which has 21 carriages equipped with all-white conference rooms, dining cars and sleeping quarters - was later pictured at a station in the border city of Dandong, China.
Some carriages are decorated with pink leather chairs,
big-screen TVs and ivory-coloured curtains in
 the windows.
The train also has satellite phone connections so Kim can
keep abreast of developments and issue orders, according to
state television.
One carriage contains his bulletproof Mercedes-Benz car.
Ahn Byung-min, a
senior analyst at South Korea's government-funded Korea
Transport Institute, told Reuters: "His private train for sure has a luxurious interior and
good-quality facilities, but it also can travel safely in China,
with pretty good rail tracks there."
If Kim makes the entire journey by rail, the train will travel a vast distance across China before arriving in Hanoi after about two-and-a-half days.
It is possible Kim and his large security detail could stop on the way, possibly in Beijing, and complete the rest of the journey by air.
The train can travel at 50mph on China's rail network, compared with a maximum of about 28mph on North Korea's system, said Ahn.
Last year, Kim and his wife Ri Sol-ju used the train to make an unofficial visit to Beijing, where they were pictured on board with other officials and waving from an open window.
Kim is using the train to make peace with Trump, but he has used the train to prepare for war in the past.
In 2016, state media showed him arriving back in Pyongyang
to a red-carpet celebration
from a satellite launching station in Sohae, after the
successful testing of a long-range rocket that the US said was an intercontinental ballistic missile.
Kim has since pledged to dismantle missile engine-testing and launch facilities at the Sohae site.
Trains have become part of the Kim family lore - and accounts from former passengers and South Korean news reports have revealed some of their secrets.
Its carriages have been customised to include conference rooms, bedrooms, a dining car, an office car and reception facilities, and are kitted out with flat-screen televisions, computers and satellite phones.
According to South Korean media, the leader has about 90 fortified carriages at its disposal.
Three trains were used when Kim's father made long-distance journeys. He travelled in the middle train, the Chosun Ilbo newspaper reported in 2009.
The first train carried about 100 security personnel who searched stations further ahead for bombs and tested track safety to make sure the rails weren't sabotaged.
The train following behind the late leader's carriage carried more bodyguards and supplies.
The travelling entourage would be accompanied on trips within North Korea by military helicopters and planes to look for potential threats.
It was claimed the elder Kim - who died on a train in 2011 - would throw lavish parties complete with bouts of heavy drinking, expensive food, karaoke and musical performances on his journeys.
Konstantin Pulikovsky, a Russian official who travelled with Kim Jong-il through Russia for three weeks in 2001, once told how guests on board the train could order dishes of Russian, Chinese, Korean, Japanese and French cuisine, the New York Times reported.
He said the leader had live lobster and other fresh delicacies delivered to the train as it crossed Siberia, and cases of Bordeaux and Burgundy wines were flown in from Paris, said Pulikovsky, wrote about the experience in his memoir of the trip.
Barbecued pork was said to be among the dishes served to passengers.
Kim Jong-il would be entertained by female entertainers, known as 'lady conductors', who sang in Korean and Russian when he was bored.
Some 20 stations had been built specifically for Kim Jong-il's own use in North Korea before he was said to have died of a heart attack on board his train in December 2011.
A replica of one of the carriages is displayed at the grand mausoleum where Kim Jong-il and his father and North Korea's founder Kim Il-sung, who also travelled by train, rest in state.
There were claims an explosion involving trains near the Chinese border in 2004 was part of a failed assassination plot on the elder Kim, who had passed by hours earlier.
There have been just fleeting glimpses of the train's interior in North Korean state media reports.

Kim Jong-il, who hated flying and led a playboy lifestyle, was once seen in a dining car surrounded by food as he was served by staff and entertained by well-dressed performers.
He was said to have made more than a dozen foreign trips to China and Russia.
South Korean and American intelligence services have been spying on the train for years, using satellites, reconnaissance aircraft and other surveillance equipment, it was reported.
North Korea's founding leader, Kim Il-sung, the current leader's
grandfather, travelled abroad by train regularly during his rule
 until his death in 1994.
His train journeys included a trip to Vietnam in 1958 when
he transferred in Beijing to a plane, and travel to Eastern
Europe in 1984 via the Soviet Union.

Travel723 Nigerians Deported From Ghana Over Cybercrime, Prostitution by chuka85(op): 2:08pm On Feb 20, 2019
It was revealed by the High Commissioner that between 2018 and 2019, 723 Nigerians have been sent back to Nigeria on the basis of alleged cybercrime and prostitution.
Michael Abikoye, the Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, has described the deportation of Nigerians by the Ghana Immigration Service as an "improper act".
He stated this at a meeting with the Comptroller-General of the GIS, Kwame Takyi, in Ghana, according to NAN.
The Nigerian ambassador said the deportation could strain the brotherly relationship both countries share.
It was revealed by the High Commissioner that between 2018 and 2019, 723 Nigerians have been sent back to Nigeria on the basis of alleged cybercrime and prostitution.
Abikoye said in January, 81 Nigerians were returned home for alleged cybercrime and illegal stay, while 115 were deported on the allegation of overstay and prostitution.
He said: "Although the GIS had linked prostitution and cybercrime as some of the reasons for the deportation, it is improper to deport Nigerians for alleged illegal stay in Ghana.
“There are several Ghanaians living in Nigeria and the Nigeria Immigration Service has never deported any of them on the grounds of illegal stay, because of the brotherliness between our countries."
Abikoye warned that any maltreatment of Nigerians will not be tolerated by the Nigerian government.
The ambassador gave the CG a copy of the mission’s record which shows the deportation of Nigerians from January 2018 till date.
In his remarks, Takyi said GIS had no choice but to act because of the behaviour of some Nigerians in Ghana.
Takyi claimed that “some Nigerians had become laws in themselves; they block major Ghanaian streets where they drink, fight and stab one another.”
“This unruly behaviour which contravenes the local laws in Ghana has led to directives from higher authorities for the arrests and eventual deportation of those who do not have the requisite immigration papers," he added.

Families and communities love to haul out their ornaments, lights, wreaths, inflatables and treasured objects for Christmas. It's a ritual, and these items, whether sacred or secular, are familiar and soothing.

Foreign AffairsQueen Elizabeth II Calls For Unity Ahead Of Brexit In 2018 Christmas Message by chuka85(op): 2:28pm On Dec 25, 2018
The UK monarch has remained carefully and deliberately neutral on all political matters in her 66 years on the throne.
But in her Christmas message this year, three months before Britain is due to leave the European Union amid deep political divisions, Queen Elizabeth II appeals for people to show more respect to those with opposing views.
"Even with the most deeply held differences, treating the other person with respect and as a fellow human being is always a good first step towards greater understanding," the Queen will say.
In excerpts of her televised address released by Buckingham Palace on Monday, the 92-year-old also argues that the Christian message of "peace on earth and goodwill to all" is timeless, and "needed as much as ever."
While the Queen never wavers from her politically neutral stance -- she does not mention Brexit directly -- her message ends a year in which the divisions over the issue have widened.
It also comes at a time when national populists surge across Europe and as US President Donald Trump continues to sow division for political gain.

Queen Elizabeth II poses for a photo after she recorded her annual Christmas Day message, in the White Drawing Room at Buckingham Palace in London, United Kingdom.
The message features Queen Elizabeth II sitting at a desk in the White Drawing Room at Buckingham Palace, with a black-and-white photograph of her, Prince Philip and Prince Charles as a baby.
She appears in an ivory silk dress designed by Angela Kelly and a yellow gold brooch with carved ruby and diamond embellishments designed by Andrew Grima -- which was a gift from The Duke of Edinburgh in 1966.
The monarch also will talk about how "faith, family and friendship" have been a "source of personal comfort and reassurance" through the "many changes" she has seen over the years.
In last year's address, Queen Elizabeth II paid tribute to the victims of the Manchester terror attack and the Grenfell Tower fire in London.

PoliticsOkorocha Raises Alarm Over Alleged Fake Court Order by chuka85(op): 1:00pm On Nov 16, 2018
Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha has raised an alarm over what he described as a fake court order.
The governor on Thursday alleged that the fake court order was used to remove Uche Nwosu’s name as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
He also added that a purported court injunction served on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to publish Hope Uzodinma’s name as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state is fake and has no authenticity from any court or judge in Nigeria.
“Information reaching me shows that a fake court order was used in removing the name of the candidate of APC in Imo State which is Nwosu. That report seems to be very authentic and that is what INEC may have relied on to do what they did.
“This is because as at day in the morning till around 2:00 p.m., Uche Nwosu’s name was still there to be published in line with the two court orders supporting his candidature.”
He, therefore, called on both the leadership of the party and INEC to explain the reasons for the alleged deliberate attempt behind the removal of Uche Nwosu’s name as the governorship candidate of APC in Imo State.
The governor has had a running battle with the party’s chairman is challenging the party and the INEC on the authenticity of the court order that informed INEC’s decision to publish Senator Hope Uzodinma’s name as the party’s governorship candidate in Imo State.

PoliticsRe: Appeal Court Reduces Dariye’s Sentence To 10 Years by chuka85(op): 12:32pm On Nov 16, 2018
chuka85:
The court held that the maximum sentence of 14 years for the counts was excessive especially because the appellant is a first-time offender

Justice Stephen Adah who read the unanimous judgment of the three-man panel also quashed the sentence in count 12.

According to the panel, the lower court which had earlier found Dariye not guilty for the charge should not have sentenced him on the charge.

The court also quashed count 23 because the persecution did not prove beyond reasonable doubt that the former governor diverted the funds of the state to purchase a house in London.

The court, therefore, reduced the sentences to 10 years for each count which is to run concurrently.

PoliticsINEC Publishes Names Of Imo Governorship Candidates, Exempts APC by chuka85(op): 10:46pm On Nov 09, 2018
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the list of governorship candidates in Imo State, conspicuously omitting the name of the candidate representing the ruling All Progressives Congress.

In the list published today at its Owerri office, the electoral body had 67 governorship candidates and their respective running mates.
Some of those who made the list are the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha (PDP), Senator Ifeanyi Ararume (APGA), Honorable Tony Nwulu (UPP), Linus Okorie (YPP) among others.

The development comes one day after a Federal High Court sitting in Owerri, the state capital issued an interim injunction restraining the APC and INEC from substituting or publishing any name other than those of winners of the October 6 primaries.

There have been controversies as to who would be the governorship candidate of the party in the 2019 election.
While the state governor, Rochas Okorocha had declared his son in-law, Uche Nwosu, winner of the party primary held on October 6th, the National Working Committeee of the party chose declared Senator Hope Uzodinma winner of the October 1st party primary which allegedly did not hold in the state.
