i thought also his story was a bit of smoke screen..no doubt he was bold and brave to try... but there were alot of things he didn't say... why need edgar while his father is 10x edgar.. why did he not mention his father as the mentor so we wouldn't say he went back because he needed help anyways ..its shame with all his experience and skill would have been perfect for his family businesses ..how much is he in debt after all trials..he pays all those ..his father..
The boy na smooth operator on "ego trip"

I think many of you are just ranting. Paddy Adenuga has got serious guts. Like the guy you quoted said. Bidding in developed countries no be beans. Did you notice the number of meetings that dude was going all across Europe.

We have many rich kids galavanting and wasting resources. But that guy showed the fibre he was made of.

In fact he will go places with time. The level of expertise, composure, that guy showed on that write is world class standard. It was never Nigerian standard, but global standard. And until most of our big business men begin to play on global standards, our economy will always be in the backwaters.

And more thing, poor folks can never attain to even half of what that guy said there. The levels is too much for your understanding. Levels is top notch. I was truly inspired by that article and my respect for him quadrupleed
There are Nigerians all over the globe breaking barrier s without so much disgusting ego.
I would rather respect people who achieved success through share hardwork and diligence not "over fed ego"
Your respect for him is for your pocket and do not begrudge you

I have got no issue with his business acumen but I have issue with the whole "show off"

He could have passed the message without all the bragging...the pride on display was louder than the message he was trying to pass across...

TheFreeOne:
That's if they have appropriate and approved documents.

I've heard of a man that eventually died of HB pressure after three of his buildings were demolished in ijesha part of Surulere for lack of necessary documents.

It's essential one have appropriate approvals when erecting structures to avoid these stories that hurts.
Virtually every property in those line has got approved documents, that road is not even a state road but federal setback. Just that they need to expand to accommodate the news Oshodi design project and you can't fight government

So they surely will be compensated
Education › Re: 10 Things You Don't Know About Japanese Schools by Chukazu:
Talking about uniform , there was a study between French kids and British on their ability to dress properly..." fashion sense" you may call it

The conclusion was that French kids dress better than British kids mainly because French kids do not wear uniform to school which allows them to experiment with different styles of dressing while their British neighbor just maintain the same pattern of dress and remain uncreative

Secondly on writing exams.
Once heard a Nigerian teacher who had studied in both British And American education system compare both.
She said " British system create rivalry among students while the American system builds friendships among the students.
E.g in Britain ,when a student knows a particular subject very well,he or she is revered and single out as a champion by the rest(exactly what we have in Nigeria) , while in America ,when you are good about a subject matter, you are meant to teach and show other the rudiments... that creates a bond and friendship among students"

That is the manner the Japanese system inculcates in the students

Did you also read about how he brought a brilliant English banker named Edgar on board, who had more than 30 years of oil & gas operations and finance experience? And did you read about how he eventually raised the money before bidding? Or did you miss this part where he said;

"" He spoke about being 29, because that was how old he was when putting together this deal! sad Would you have preferred him to say he was 41, when he was actually 29? I don't get it. A number of 29 year olds, would probably not be thinking along those lines, because of their level of exposure or their different perspectives, on life. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

All the flak against Paddy, is simply due to the fact that he has a rich father. If his dad was a commodity trader in a Lagos market, would you all have shown this same level of resentment towards him? huh Just asking....
Raise which money ?

Did you read my first post?

Didn't you see where I mentioned Edger ?

His inability to pay Edger at initial bargain was one of the things that caused the failure.

Which 50million are you talking about you?

50 million dollars was for the opening bid...of which he later bidded 100million , and he clearly stated that he didn't know where the extra money would come from...am sure you didn't read that part ,you more interested in ego trip?

Did you know how many times he mentioned that particular age ?...about four different times sad what is so special about been 29?

I was confused by his behaviour. I told him who the others were that were on Catalan’s advisory board but he wasn’t having it, either he would be paid his princely sum to attach his name to Catalan or no deal. I was 29 at the time and was still head-strong and prideful

Here I was, in my late twenties, in a massive boardroom, with a management team of fifteen people presenting to me. I felt like I had arrived.

This bid was destined for me to win. I was meant to be the Alexander the Great of Africa oil & gas and barely into my thirties.

was going to ride back into Africa on my Trojan Horse and become King
""

and you can't see the pride and ego massaging in all this piece? sad ... even after the man admitted that he was "proud" but you busy saying otherwise, how gullible?

What exactly do you know about bidding for a quoted, well structured international exploration company, in Western Europe? shocked Do you think it is like bidding for one of those epileptic state-owned parastatals in Nigeria, which are sold to cronies of govt and their proxies? Are you aware that such international bids for foreign firms must be backed by cash, expertise and detailed plans, before it can even be considered? Are you aware that losing an international bid, can cause a dent in your corporate profile, if the reasons for the loss were untenable? Are you aware that if you are a publicly quoted company, any bids you make or any bids made by your firm, affects your stock prices?

If anyone can submit a bid, how come you have not submitted one and bought over a company in the same class as Chevron Netherlands? huh
Did you also read where he talked about not knowing where the money would come from?

Did you also read where he talked about learning from Nigerian experience, where meeting government officials was necessary to winning a bid and such meetings in Nigeria doesn't happen without you settling somebody, now that tells me that they have been bribing their way to get certain contracts?

What is really special about the whole bid?

Am sure he would have gone to the father to collect the money...na him papa ,so am not hating but let's not make it look like he did magic.

The guy kept talking about been super rich @29 as if life revolves around that age.

Read the stuff,it was just full of over Sabi, pride and over fed ego sad

He could have passed the message without any such image laundry

What was the massage?

1.trust your instincts

2.getting the right information,is the game changer (if he had found out who the final bidder was, he probably would have won the bid.and his friend,Remi would have been of help but never confided )

3.his refusal to pay Edger for his commensurate service earlier, instead choosing "araroro" also contributed to the unsuccessful bid

Simple message that doesn't require all the bragging

The best job in life is to be a Nigerian Politician.

Perks include

- Generous pensions
- Immunity for life (forget all the EFCC drama)
- Eternal Approval from clergy especially the Pentecostals
- A stupidly loyal followership (whom you stole billions from, yet their loyalty is guaranteed)
- Peace for you and your family
- and the list goes on.

See Fashola, a failed politician enjoying this and you think like in saner climes he will be hiding from prosecution.

As usual the our brother praise singers will come to foolishly tell us how he deserves this.

Sorry for una!

Even more so now that Facebook has bought over WhatsApp, they easily use Data from WhatsApp to gained advert revenue on Facebook #Leverage

in developed countries, you can be fired for liking and posting unverified news on social media

all press all over the world are censored and the government prints or publish what we wanna hear

if nigeria is saying its own press staff shouldnt post and like unverified news and claims,i am for it and i like it because the country press and its staff needs to portray a good image of Nigeria and also the organisation
