Phones / OPPO Launches High-end Reno2 Series In Nigeria by chumsfortech: 5:32pm On Nov 13, 2019
OPPO yesterday launched the new Reno2 Series in the Nigerian market by 7pm at the LASWA Jetty, Ikoyi, Lagos. The Reno2 and Reno2 F models are the latest of OPPO’s popular Reno series that will change the boundaries of users’ creativity, coming packed with photography-enhancing features. The quad-camera setup includes 5x Hybrid Zoom allowing users to get far closer to a subject, ultra-clear night shots even under near darkness condition on Ultra Dark Mode and super-stable video shooting on the go thanks to Ultra Steady Video. The Reno2 series unique multi-perspective capabilities enable users to see things differently, inspiring OPPO to launch the “Challenge Your Perspective” campaign, calling on creators to boldly defy conventional Instagram photography by capturing new, fresh perspectives behind the lens.

“Inheriting the already rich creative spirit of the Reno Series, this latest iteration presents our users with even more creative possibilities, empowering them to discover new perspectives,” said Joseph Adeola, Public Relations Manager of OPPO Nigeria. “Its advanced camera technology performs superbly in a range of environments and scenarios, from busy cities to natural landscapes to broad daylight to dark nightlife.”

Advanced Camera Tech Unleashes User Creativity

OPPO is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of mobile photography. The Reno2 will come equipped with four cameras that provide a full focal length imaging system; offering a 5x Hybrid Zoom, Ultra-Wide Angle lens and more. Three lenses of varying focal lengths work in unison to create a unique 5x Hybrid Zoom effect from the ultra-wide-angle to telephoto, which also fuses image technology to ensure a smooth, seamless zoom transition.

With a 48MP primary lens equipped with Optical Image Stabilization, F1.7 aperture, and a 1/2-inch sensor along with Quad Bayer technology, Reno2 can achieve better performance in low light. The Reno2 Series’ Ultra Dark Mode covers an entire range of different night scenes via a powerful NPU, and OPPO fine-tuned algorithms. Even if light levels measure below 1 lux, it elevates your photos beyond naked eye through hardware network-optimized AI noise reduction.

But a single photo can't tell a whole story, and with social media users increasingly shooting video, OPPO is paying more attention to Videography than before. OPPO’s industry-leading Ultra Steady Video Mode technology ups the stability of videos, enabling users to capture steady videos while running, skiing, skateboarding, cycling, and more. It’s achieved through an IMU measuring device with a high sampling rate and a hull sensor, equipped with Electronic Image Stabilization and Optical Image Stabilization. These compensate for users' shaky shots more accurately, and together with a 60fps frame rate, enhance image stabilization, fluency, and overall image quality.

User-centric design combines practicality with style

The Reno2 is also equipped with a 6.5” dynamic AMOLED screen, 2400x1080 resolution, and a screen-to-body ratio of 93.1%, made from durable 6th Generation Corning® Gorilla® Glass. The Reno2 Z and Reno2 F feature a slightly smaller 6.5’’ AMOLED screen, with 2340x1080 resolution, and a screen-to-body ratio of 91.1%, made from toughened 5th Generation Corning® Gorilla® Glass. The Reno2 comes with the improved Dynamic AMOLED Screen, which offers sufficient brightness even in bright outdoor environments while extending screen service life by 50% and reducing power consumption by 6%. The Reno2 comes with a Shark fin Pop-up Camera, which supports an ultra-clear backlit shots and all-new AI Beauty Mode while the Reno2 Z and Reno2 F feature a 16MP pop-up front camera featuring an Atmosphere Light.

Cutting-edge hardware and software that delivers superb performance

ColorOS 6.1, running on the latest version of Android Pie 9.0, featuring a smoother and more enjoyable user experience, powers the Reno2 Series. It provides a brand-new visual experience, including wallpaper designs that better match the phone’s exterior design. Light, elegant, and borderless gradient colors are used to replace the previously used large-area color blocks, and new gestures to manage navigation make the phone more comfortable to operate with a single hand.

This Reno2 series offers a complete gaming experience, with optimized features like Touch Boost 2.0, Frame Boost 2.0 and Game Space. Touch Boost 2.0 helps users avoid common pitfalls of running hardcore titles while Frame Boost 2.0 analyses the status of mobile performance so that frame rate and stability will be adjusted to prioritize a first-class gaming experience. Frame Boost 2.0 will also allocate resources to avoid the consumption of too much power and the heating of the phone. What’s more, Game Space collectively manages game apps to give users a distraction-free and more immersive gaming experience. Overall, the Reno2 Series has five-star gaming performance certification from TUV Rheinland, which tests the overall gaming performance of the phone from the screen, battery life, performance, and signal strength.

The OPPO Reno2 series features fast and safe VOOC Flash Charge 3.0 technology. This uses a new VFC algorithm, significantly shortening the final 10% of charging time by doubling the trickle charging speed. VOOC Flash Charge 3.0 combines with the Reno2 series’ 4,000mAh (Typ) battery to provide users with a much longer-lasting battery.

Phones / OPPO Reno 2 Launching In Nigeria Soon by chumsfortech: 12:00pm On Nov 05, 2019
OPPO Nigeria has been hinting the launch of the OPPO Reno 2 smartphone on all their social media platforms, and this has me excited.
The Reno 2 has been launched in other OPPO markets, which has made the wait for it arrival in Nigeria even more exciting and thrilling.

For those that don't know, what is the OPPO Reno 2?

The Oppo Reno 2 is a mid-range phone that more-or-less provides everything you might ask for from a higher-end model. It looks and feels expensive, has four cameras, an excellent screen and in-screen fingerprint scanner.
Its quad-camera system, Oled screen, in-screen fingerprint sensor, 256GB storage and 8GB memory, match up to flagship models. The bottom of the phone has the USB-C charging port, a 3.5mm audio jack and a single speaker.
The 48-megapixel (MP) main camera is very competent and has the same sensor that is found in many of this year's phones. It uses pixel-binning to produce 12MP photos that are detailed with good contrast and have accurate colours. The quality takes a slight dip when using the 8MP ultra-wide camera, though the photos are still very usable, especially in good lighting conditions. This camera also enables close-up macro shots.

It has a 2x telephoto camera that can be used with some software cropping to create a 5x hybrid zoom. The resulting photos are fairly decent, though not as amazing as the ones taken by Oppo's higher-end Reno 10x Zoom smartphone, which has a periscope-enabled optical zoom camera lens.

Finally, the fourth camera is a monochrome one that is used to capture depth information for portrait shots, as well as to enable some interesting colour filters. I found the bokeh effect (background blur) to be well-done most of the time, with the occasional artifact.

The Reno2 also performs admirably in low light conditions. Night shots looked suitably atmospheric - highlights were restrained and not overblown. When zoomed in, the photos did look grainy, but they were still mostly acceptable.

Phones / Re: OPPO Mobile Discussion Thread by chumsfortech: 5:46pm On Oct 30, 2019
The truth is both phones have uniquely different features, for example the F11Pro has 4000 mAh battery and comes with a VOOC Fast Charge, that can charge the phone from 0 - 100 in 30mins, but the A9 2020 comes with 5000 mAh battery, that has a reverse charging feature, that is you can use the phone to charge another phone.

So they are both great and different.

Its so obvious you trying to mislead people with your claim. First of all you havent used the device.
Sagelegend:

Its useless...No sensible manufacturer put 8gig ram on such screen display. 8gig ram phones are gaming phones mostly with a minimum standard display of 1080×2000+.

8gig ram phone is capable of 4k but this oppo 8gig ram can't take any 4k video at all.

With a Full HD+ display not the ordinary HD screen of this OPPO

it will only perform like a normal 4-6gig ram phone.

A very big head on a small body will b tagged abnormal not "impressive".

The OP should have market the OPPO directly in his writer up without mentioning and comparing it with other brands like Samsung ,huawei e.t.c

We are not fooled with 8gig and 5000mah battery when performance can't b Optimized hence not worth d hype and price

WELL, this is outright beef so no need talking much.
ZesusHVWritter:

You do know the redmi k20 uses the snapdragon 730 and k20 pro sd 855 but oppo A9 2020 uses sd 665 which is below the snapdragon 710, 712 before you get to the 730 on the k20?.
If your answer is yes, then oppo has failed just like transission did.
Anyone that goes for the oppo A9 2020 over the xiaomi redmi note 8 has wasted his/her hard earned money, I will flood you with reasons why.

The oppo A9 2020 should have been better named oppo A9 2012 because it houses outdated and backdated specs.
The oppo A90 has a 6.5 inch screen, but uses an hd panel which is so inappropriate in every displaying sense.
At hd resolution, videos will appear pixelated and pictures will be dragged out of proportion looking entirely blured when attempting to be zoomed into.
The xiaomi redmi note 8 having a beautiful 6.3 inch screen would have been brilliant if Xiaomi had went with an hd panel like the oppo A9, but Xiaomi is a brand looking to tick every box available to the mobile industry requirements. Xiaomi being a careful and class oriented brand went even further, to use a FULL HD panel for the redmi note 8, guaranteeing a gorgeous display when taking videos or pictures and viewing videos or pictures

The oppo A9 2020 uses the ancient usb charging port just like crappy infinix hot 8, the washed out infinix note 6 or the nothingness camon 7 which was launched by tecno god knows when.
The Usb type B charging port on oppo A9 2012 is not only known for it's sluggish charging speed, it's also very poor when being used to transfer data from device to device or to an otg storage, don't even dare to use it for data transfer to a computer if you have used a usb type C before, because you go cry and lament at the tormenting slowness you will be greeted with.
it gets even worse, because the oppo A9 2012 is powered by a 5000mah oppo don join transission wey dey call Nigerians tech disoriented because them still think say an average Nigerian go look only battery mah and not worry about how to charge the battery .
The 5000mah battery on the oppo A9 2012 will take nothing less than 2-5hours to fully charge and that roughly translates to the entire day some persons are allocated electricity and some don't even get that much for months, this is Nigeria, so how dumb is the 5000mah paired with usb type B move by oppo? I will answer for you: Excessively ancient and outrageous. Even the lowend Redmi 8[Not note 8 oh] uses a type c port, and some misinforming and misleading homosapien had the effrontery to call the oppo A9 2012 a flagship killer in 2019? Taaah. If the op does not delete or rename this thread to OPPO A9 2012, AN ALIKE USELESS DEVICE TO THE OUTDATED OFFERINGS FROM THE TRANSISSION HOLDINGS and make a public apology to every nairalander through dm, the op should be.......
Xiaomi redmi note 8 is a perfect device all round, the fantastic device uses a type C charging port and comes equipped with 18 watts fast charging technology which promises to deliver a lightening charging speed to the 4000mah battery that powers the note 8. You can expect the perfectly crafted type C port to be at jet speed when transferring data between any device, in fact, if the oppo A9 2020 take a month to send 10gig file through its outdated usb port to a computer, xiaomi redmi note 8 will take 30 minutes to transfer a 10gig file to the same computer smiley wink

Just to sunk the oppo A9 2019 or deservingly named, A9 2012 outdated ship deep into the bottomless technology sea. The redmi note 8 has a dedicated infared port just to give you that extra comfort of not having to pick or look for a remote control when in your enjoyable resting place. All you need do is just use your redmi note 8 to control your electronic appliances from tv, to decoder, to Ac, to every every.

If you that is marketing oppo A9 2012 buys it in 2019, you should be arrested for trying to draw Nigeria back. We dey complain of transission wayward debacle, oppo run come join them. Class of ancient entities celebrating extincted technologies. Thank God for xiaomi.

BYE!!!

Phones / Re: New Mid-range Flagship Killer Phones Thread by chumsfortech: 11:04am On Oct 07, 2019
At first I wanted to pass and ignore your demented rant but no.
firstly no backup to your claim.
secondly your Xiaomi redmi 7 which have lesser ppi density and resolution has a poor display, right? funnily who still builds a phone without considering the charging speed hence the type c USB type and support OTG REVERSE CHARGING. it quite surprising how you damned the 5000mAh like any of your devices in Nigeria has one except ur max 3 and the specs are quite annoying for 100,000 with Qualcomm 638 and a very bad camera and a 6G RAM, SMH.
thirdly, I get you such an ignoramus for saying marine green and space purple is a child colour, really? well I forgive you for that, most men lack appreciation for colours.
gorilla glass 3 or 5 or 6, their roughness is relative except it or leave it, you not a display screen tech.
Lastly, OPPO is by no way the same league as Infinix or Tecno, even your Xiaomi abi na Nahomi una be won even spell..
Sagelegend:
This oppo marketer self...NAWA for you o.
Imagine you are comparing Samsung,Huawei, xiaomi with oppo. What an ignorant insult.

Oppo is in the same league with mediocre like infinix, techno and itel now.

You are hailing a 6.5inches phone with 700*1600 pixel resolution @270ppi density and a 5000mah battery without fast charging tech in 2019 as a flagship. You should be arrested for misleading the public and promoting trash.

The display will b too poor now.

Even the colour of the oppo u promoting is weird..imagine marine green and space purple( children colours).

Corning gorilla glass 3 when we are now using gorilla glass 5 and 6

Even 2017 Samsung, Huawei and xiaomi phones beat this your 2020 mid-range flagship self.
For example, check xiaomi mi 8 2018 specs and its even sold on Alixpress for 80k-90k compared to this your 2020 oppo.

Even xiaomi mi 5 of 2016 got a better display than this your 2020 oppo and d mi 5 got a fast charging which your oppo 2020 lack. Imagine a 2016 phone oo

That oppo suppose sell for 45-50k maximum.

Phones / OPPO Nigeria Officially Announced As Emerging Smartphone Brand Of The Year 2019 by chumsfortech: 2:05pm On Oct 02, 2019
The Association of Telecom Companies of Nigeria (ATCON), recently recognized global Smartphone brand OPPO, as the Emerging Smartphone Brand of the Year (2019) in collaboration with Instinct Wave at the 3rd Nigeria Tech Innovation & Telecom Awards (NTITA) which took place on Saturday the 28th of September 2019 at the Lagos Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The Nigeria Tech Innovation and Telecommunications Awards (NTITA) is one of the most celebrated industry awards, widely known as the Oscars of the ICT and Telecoms Industry attracting the top decision makers and companies in the Nigerian Telecom and ICT Sector.

Interestingly, OPPO officially launched the brand in Nigeria on the 26th of April, 2019 and ever since has enjoyed a meteoric rise to the top in the Nigerian smartphone industry. In just 5 months, the brand has been able to physically spread to 24 out of the 36 states in Nigeria. It has also sealed a partnership with E-Commerce giants, Jumia to cater to the 36 states of Nigeria by proxy.

The differentiating factor between OPPO and other brands is that OPPO has been able to ensure that the same product and after-sales standards in Europe and Asia are provided to the Nigerian market, thus eliminating the common practice of “Nigerian Standard” products that are often substandard when compared to what you can find in other developed markets.

According to the Marketing Manager of OPPO Nigeria, Nengi Akinola, OPPO is in for the long haul and will remain committed to changing the narrative of the Nigerian Telecom and ICT Sector positively. “We are delighted to be recognized for our efforts in this market and we promise not to rest on our oars, until every Nigerian gets the quality smartphones and services they deserve”, she concluded.

OPPO provides up to 48-hours flash repair services, phone swaps where necessary and a standard 2-year warranty on all OPPO smartphones, regardless of the price point.
