Even if it's just 20 of the almost a thousand who are completing their masters this September, we are boxed into no plans. It's crazy for those of us. No school, No jobs at the moment, can't plan for long engagements; even interviewing for other jobs I'm appropriating NLNG values upon them. Just do this thing and get it over with.
If you're ordering the fine china to be in the Bonny apartments or organizing armored vehicles for ferrying us through PH city, that's secondary. Just send mail, Mr lagbaja sorry better luck, Miss lakasegbe congrats, wait for further info, shikena. This has been on since October 2013. I've been prepping for interviews since then.
Please, just finish this thing.

You didn't address those that are not working.

If you are not working, you can look for anything of interest and volunteer your time for it apart from looking for a job. It could keep you engaged.

If the wait is really till November like some have speculated, then we are in for a very long wait.

Meanwhile let's keep the thread busy. All the steady lurkers and those with 'sauces', please comment.

The wait isn't funny. Infact as someone here says, "This patience will wrought out perfection".

However, the wait can be worthwhile. If you are currently working, be absorbed in your job. If you work in a team, this would be the best time for your team member to go on a vacation, so that you take over his job. I bet you, you would realize how short one week is.

If your current job isn't very tasking, get a book and read. It could range from any best-selling novel, to any educational journal.
Just keep busy, and please do not become lackadaisical about your "boring" daily routine at work. At least it pays your bills for now.

Please note that this is not recommended as a solution TO ALL for the long wait. It might work for some, and not work for others, or not even work at all.

The key thing is, JUST KEEP BUSY.

Cheers.

Guys, recommendation on the leadership styles was just a footnote to me. Bigger fish to fry in change of KPI from quantitative to qualitative measures. We are obviously not to see things from same angle, its why this recruitment is into many different sectors across the business.

Dway4ward

Your point is also very valid. However, importance should be given to both qualitative and quantitative measures. If attention is given solely to qualitative measures of the KPI, you might get call centre agents who spend too much time on a call, thereby, keeping other callers waiting. A balance between the qualitative and quantitative measures of the KPI are very important and work hand-in-hand to achieve optimum results.
That is why part of the KPI of call centre agents includes the number of calls per day.

The bottom line is whichever stance we would have taken, we should have been able to defend and justify them with facts.

I guess you didn't read that part in detail, you misconstrued it or you can't recall the facts bro. There was no where in the brief where Tim refused to grant a staff leave. If I remember correctly, it was said in the brief that one of the staff is currently on sick leave claiming stress that 'Tims pushing for them to meet their KPI is too much'.

I support some of your points tho, about training and all. Anyway, AC was beautiful for me....I enjoyed myself....Now I can only wait and pray for the best. God is in charge!

The leadership style of Tim could be justifiably debatable whichever side u decide to pick.
Prince of pariz' stance about the other group members not giving enough support is pretty valid. The other point of Tim being overly demanding of his group members and that he needs proper training as a leader is also interesting. Point of note is that whichever angle u look at it, u should have solid facts from the brief to defend your position. As prince of pariz also stated, in your recommendation, you should have given your view of ways to mitigate or solve the issues you have identified therein.

There are a million and one issues you could have identified in the brief. From the HR personnel not acting on reports from group members about the leadership style of Tim, to the identified leakage of information from the Head office to a rival bank.

Success all....it can only get better.

Cheers.

I also had the believe that he was either lying or he had been lied to. We choose not to believe because we actually can't do anything if the info checks out right.

I once was involved in the recruitment process of a very well known multinational company. Wrote first stage test with about 400 persons in attendance, then had a second stage test with about 20 successfuls from the 400. 10 out of the 20 were invited for interviews. At the interview, we saw 5 other guys smiling like sheeps while sitting in one corner forming caucus, so as a social guy, I tried to relate with them and discovered some were already contract staff and some knew someone in the company.

After the interview, we exchanged contacts and thanks to nairaland we kept in touch. 2 weeks later 3 of us out of the 10 received mails that we were successful at the interview and the other 7 received regret mails.

I was in touch with one of those contract guys and he said the company had already taken who they wanted even before putting up any job advert, that they only came to show face at the interview to fulfill all righteousness (they didn't do any tests but just showed up for the interviews)

A month later, that same 5 contract/IM guys went for medicals and resumed for the same opening while the 3 of us that got success mails were kept in the dark.

3 months later, the 3 of us got mails from the company that they regret bla bla bla and that they have other candidates to choose from and all that many stories. This is a very well known multinational.
There are many other stories like this happening in great companies and multinationals in Nigeria.

My childhood neighbor just resumed with NNPC as a graduate entry level even though recruitment is said to be on a hold, he didn't do any test or interview!!!!!

Let's just hope when we all get to wherever we are going to, we will be professional and use TRUE integrity when we can.

NLNG is a great company with high integrity as the facts from past experiences and many people who were successful in the past, especially in 2007 have been vocal about the level of integrity of the recruitment process.

In the end, I believe it will come out favourably for us.

I feel you Princeofpariz. Things happen. As earlier said, lets pray any parameter to be used for the final selection just be to our advantage...

Well based on all that I saw during the recruitment process I believe it is largely unbiased. There were several assessors and from what I have heard this AC is on par in terms of transparency and rigor with that conducted by other international companies. Will there be 'long leg'...maybe there will be or maybe not. In as much as it seems that they might use some of the 'other factors' you mentioned I still believe that ALL of those that perform well will be taken.

We all have done our best, even though when you look back, you begin to see areas where you feel you should have done better. So, contemplating the specific criteria to be used for the final selection would just be based on mere "hearsay" and assumptions, and surely outside our jurisdiction. Whether it is "long leg", age, gender, FC, etc, let's just pray and hope that they all come to play to our advantage.
Approximately 12/13 weeks from now we should have heard from them and then I can confidently send out the mail of my resignation that I have saved in my drafts folder since October 2013.

Cheers all...

In as much as I recognise the supposedly huge financial rewards awaiting successful applicants, I have reservations concerning the career path the coy offers considering the few reviews on glass door. It looks like one might be stuck doing the same thing for a long while.
Which career path are you actually looking 4? If you work in the banking industry, or manufacturing industry etc, what career path is opened up 4u? I firmly believe that every individual has equal opportunity to develop himself, and give himself/herself a leverage anytime a job rotation is available. So i don't follow all those glassdoor reviews. YOUR CAREER IS IN YOUR HANDS, SEIZE EACH OPPPORTUNITY AS IT COMES.

Just wondering if anyone can confirm that the Lagos folks have finished or if the PH contingent have started their AC. How do we know when AC finishes so we can share our experience for the benefit of the next set of GT applicants.
As for when we'll get the outcome, on the day we were told within 3 months from the first week of AC not sure what those who did theirs recently were told. I guess theirs will be more accurate.
Lagos AC is supposed to have been concluded this last friday. Do not have any idea if PH AC would commence tomorrow.

Going through this thread from the day the AC invite was sent, the earliest Lagos candidate I saw was scheduled for 29th June. That's why I'm not sure if AC is ongoing in Lagos
My theory;
Abuja 08-19 June
Lagos 29 Jun- 11 July
PH 20-31 July
From Aug 1; the waiting game, reliable sources gist, talk about salary, federal character, whether results were released in batches, manifestation of faith etc. will reign supreme

@Nicer, thanks for your contributions. I just have one question. Do you have any idea how long the exercise for the day will last?... i.e 7:00 am till ??..... I need to know because I intend on booking my return journey for the same day as my assessment date. (I should be at the airport by 9:00pm). Assessment is in Lagos.

Thanks.

I also await your info on reimbursement as you promised cheesy

Booking ur return flight on the same day as ur AC and hoping that u finish on time to catch up with ur flight would be putting urself under a lot of pressure. Ur whole mind would be set on finishing the AC quickly instead of on giving a stellar performance. Think about it.

Why then did they ask for our location?

At least they should know that we are somewhere on planet Earth!

They should have just asked us to indicate interest or availability.

It is a possibility that your current location would give them an idea of the amount required to reimburse you for all travel expenses incurred from your current location to your assessment centre.

Just saying....

I see no reason why AC can't hold before Swearing-In. NLNG was clear that they postponed AC for elections to take place and not for new government to be sworn in. Unlike March 28 & April 11 which were filled with speculations and uncertainties, May 29 is very much different.

I just hope we don't have to wait unnecessarily longezr.
