When I learnt Gerber cereals are not sweet, I decided to give it a try since my baby would prefer foods with bland taste just as she does pap. So I give her the cereal without milk. And she loves it. Its the only cereal out of many I tried that she's accepted. She doesn't like sweet fruits either.

A good quality butter from organic grass fed cow is actually a better oil option for food. Even better than the much touted Extra Virgin Olive oil.
The process of making margarine (vegetable oil) is bad for human consumption . It is highly hydrogenated, full of trans fat and can cause havoc to our health (oxidization etc).
A good quality Cheese from grass fed cow is also a rich source of absorbable protein. However there is debate on the effect of the high acidity level of Cheese or if dairy is even as good for us as promoted.
For me I try to eat food the way God (nature) intended. Good old fashioned organic food that we have in our local farms, and not the Lab food introduced to us from the western world.

He's actually right. Butter is way more natural and healthier than margarine. Margarine is bad because it contains trans fat which has being linked to many diseases including cardiovascular diseases like heart attack, stroke, hypertension. Though, butter contains saturated fat, it is healthy for you as shown and proven by latest research. Pls I implore you to look it up. Google is ur friend.

I will come back to introduce myself shortly but right now I'm distressed.
Gave birth almost 24hrs ago and up till this point there's not a single drop of breast milk.
I have tried pap tea hot liquids etc but nothing. Baby now refuses to latch on cos nothing comes out ndy beautiful bobo is obviously hungry. I'm
almost in tears myself.

What else can I do

Take hot fufu/Pounded yam/Amala. Works well for me.

Its good to finally port to this thread, my baby is 5days old and finally getting a grab of so many things i've read here. I was given multivitamins and ampicillin drops for my baby but i'm confused on why she will need it cos there was no complains about her didnt check the drugs b4 we left the hospital and cant go back to the hospital for now. Pls i jst want to know if anybody has had to use the drugs on a newborn and under what circumstances.

Do u breastfeed? Do u eat well? If so, I don't think there's a need for multivitamins. Also,was ur LO diagnosed of any infection? I think u should seek a 2nd opinion. Congrats and welcom onboard

By heat compress guess u mean towel in hot water nd press wt it?if u ar my tribe(yoruba) it won't be new 2 u as its done on all babies av seen.ds is ao my mum did 4 my children even after it has fallen off till 3 mnths;after bathin bt b4 dryin d body she will put a small towel in hot water(nt too hot pls so dt d baby's body does nt burn)nd press d navel wt all d surrounding,then dip d towel in d water again nd raise it directly 2 d navel hole(belly button)nd let it drop like tap,she may do it 3 times at every bath.ds does nt stop u frm cleanin evry 2 hours wt cotton wool nd spirit.put ur mind at rest nd speak 2 d doc too,my nephew's own fell after 3 weeks

Hello.mamas, I know a lot of questions are yet to be answered but I will appreciate if this is answered. My baby is 15 days now and his placenta cord hasn't come off, my mum is kinda worried that it is taking too long. The doctors advice that I only clean it with cotton wool and methylated spirit but my mum is of the opinion that we should use heat compress on it. The stump looks fine, no smells, no discharge and it's shrinking but my mum thinks it's just taking too long. What else can I do, she is getting me to panic and I don't know if I should allow her use heat on his navel.

Well, my mum applied d compress during bathing (its tradition) and it fell off on the 4th day. I don't know if it had any impact, But my mum said mine also fell off in 4 days wen I was born. Jus use ur instinct dear

Breastfeeding makes you lose weight....especially if you eat healthy and not plenty. The body uses 500 calories a day in manufacturing BM...and that is excluding the 2,500 - 3,500 calories the average-sized human uses. Add that together, and you have a recipe for weight loss.

Pls how do u cook pap?

I take a little quantity of d pap, put in a small clean bowl and add water till its creamy. Then boil water in a kettle or jug n pour boiled water (while still hot) slowly while stirring until its done. I thereafter transfer the bowl into a pot with boiling water and cook for few additional minutes to eliminate any "rawness".lol

Mamas in d house..Please Is it true that cerelac gives rashes. I started giving my baby just for two weeks n i notice rashes on her body., which has neva happened since i was given gerber.. pls i nid ur advice

According to my baby's pediatrician, most babies react to the newer versions of cerelac as it happened with my LO. My advice is to stop the cerelac and continue wit gerber

Hi dear, blend the crayfish separately. What I do: Sun dry or oven dry crayfish. Alternatively, put in a clean pan, stir while heating until a bit cripsy. Then put in a tray and blow off d dust and other particles. Blend into a smooth powdery form (I love my crayfish this way Yummy!)

Wrong, dudu osun is not the same as natural black soap ooo. Dudu is processed garbage that contains lemon can sting and irritate the hell out of adult skin not to talk an infant's skin. On the contrary, natural black soap is not drying at all. I have white friends that i help to buy to treat their children's severe eczema and they use it with their regular lotion.

I used dudu before and when it got in my hoo haa by mistake....the sting no be here o.

Pls where can I get the black soap? Or maybe I'm the one making a mistake here . A yoruba woman that sells herbs gave me the soap after complaining to her when my baby had ela. Its a bit brownish with a pap consistency. Its not irritating the way u've described it as I've bn using it on my LO. I've always assumed what she gave me was dudu osun

Pls ao do we mash d foods after cooking. Is it wt mortar n pestle or blender? Is it compulsory to peel d beans b4 cooking for a 7months old baby....FTM

First boil till its very soft. I prefer using spoon to mash so its not too smooth since my baby doesn't like them too smooth. But. U can use a hand blender, or food processor and puree to the consistency ur baby prefers. U can also add breastmilk/formula/water(boiled) to make it lighter. Yes, u should peel the beans as d peel contain a lot of anti-nutrients that can irritate their young bowel

Sweetest Mamas pls, can change of food for a baby cause skin rashes or cough? My LO was feeding on Lactogen 2 and Friso gold rice based cereal, we travelled this week and the friso got finished. I searched all the shops around but no friso, so I bought cerelac rice and maize after feeding my lo that night and the next day I noticed serious rashes all over his body with severe cough and difficulty in breathing. Pls do u think the change is the cause? And what other good and nutritious cereals and baby food can I buy for my prince. We just started eating 3 weeks ago after EB. Thank u

I guess that was an allergic reaction! Please google CMPA. That was what happened with my LO when I introduced cerelac/nan/aptamil to her. Pleas stop d cerelac at once, and u can go see a paediatrician to recommend for ur baby. And please when introducing a new food, do so earlier in the day, so u can give urself ample time to watch out for any allergic reaction before night time.
U can go back to the Friso if ur baby doesn't react to it, tho its not necessary to give baby cereals. Why not try pap or adult foods? Pele. It is well dear.

P.S. Please, if I were u, I would see a Doc, not meant to scare u, but allergic reactions aren't something to be joked with, especially with the difficulty in breathing.

My dear, it is too early to start giving golden morn (not for children below 3 yrs). Have u tried adult foods? Rice, plantain, sweet potatoes, fufu, amala, egg yolk, liver, beef, fish, chicken, boil them very soft and mash. Start with little quantity. And is ur baby slim or thin? Also, continue wit the pap and yes, u can give a good quality cod liver oil.

I guess its same as dudu osun? That's what I now use for my LO. I'ts downside is that it dries the skin, so u must use a good moisturizer like shea butter/coconut oil/palm kernel oil after every bath. But on the good side, it's less irritating on the skin.

he is going to 7months and i use johnson head to toe soap for bathing him.

Pls stop using that Johnson head to toe for ur baby's hair. That's what iritated my LO's hair. Instead, get a good baby shampoo like Sebamed baby shampoo and wash only once in two weeks at least. Pele

Happy sunday to all the mama's in the house, pls my girl is 6 months and very slim. I give her cerelac, aptamil and henz friut n milk. Am thinking of introducing solid like beans, noddles, fish soon. But pls is there any food or milk I can give her to make her cubby? Also she poos after every meal, is dis ok for a 6months old. Am tired of people asking me y she is light weighted.

Same situation here. My LO who just turned 6 months looked quite slim, so I introduced other foods. But I found out she reacted to cerelac/aptamil/nan, and so I stopped. I only give her Ogi for now, and so far I have noticed improvements. Scared of boosting d Ogi with crayfish/soybeans/nuts cos of her allergy issues. BTW, she eats adult foods including fruits/vegetables wit no problem. U can try the ogi with other foods. Tho I plan on seeing her paediatrician tomoro.

How are you mums doing? I'm fine.. And not too fine. Body ache, back ache from backing baby, hand ache from carring baby, br.east ache from feeding baby.. it is well with my soul. DH and I slept by 3am today. The twins were just screaming thru the night. The both wanted to sleep with the bobby, and I couldn't give d two of them at once.. See fight! I got angry, removed their clothes, and showered them with cold water. They screamed and cried. My DH was shouting that I was wicked to have bathed them with cold water. They slept 5mins later. I looked at DH like "am I still wicked now?" may we reap the fruits of our labour o. Our children shall all be great. All our vigilante will not be in vain in Jesus name.

My dear, there's nothing i didnt try, and i cant really say which one worked. At first, i used olive oil, then shea butter and coconut oil. found out d coconut oil made it worse bt d shea butter didnt improve it. then saw a paed who recommended 1% hydrocortisone + Muriderm and a dose of antibiotics. Got cleared but recurred a little some weeks later.
Later found out its more of allergy esp some food like milk, choco, pap and clothing

Hello wonderful mamas. Pls what can I use for my baby's hair to enable it grow faster and softer? My baby had 'ela' which chopped off her hairline. The ela is gone now but how do I make the areas affected regrow? Thanks
