5/12/2016 Latest rhetorics aimed at dousing tension when the list comes out. The Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Ibrahim K. Idris has said that henceforth the recruitment and posting of police’s rank and file is to be conducted based on the number of local government areas per state. Idris, who made the disclosure in Kano on Friday while addressing officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, said highly populated states in the country were not getting the required number of policemen. The IGP, who cited example with Kano, said the number of policemen posted to the state was grossly inadequate. “In our subsequent recruitment for the rank and file, each state will be treated based on its number of local government areas. This is the only way we can face the security challenges bedeviling our country squarely,” he said. He said the force was determined to address the issue of shortage of policemen in some states. “By the time we finished the ongoing recruitment, states that have higher population would get more policemen. Kano is one of the states that need more policemen. I am aware of this problem since I was a police commissioner in the state. So, I will do my best to address this problem,” he said. The inspector general of police also disclosed that from now on, no mobile policeman would be attached to personalities as guards, saying mobile policemen were not trained to serve as guards. “The mobile policemen unit is the striking force of the Nigerian Police Force and we will not allow this unit to be misused. Currently we are considering construction of three additional mobile police barracks in Anambra, Imo and Niger states to accommodate our mobile policemen,” he said. Earlier, the Kano State Police Commissioner, Alhaji Rabi’u Yusuf told the IGP that Kano state needed more police personnel to protect citizens’ lives and properties. Yusuf said the major security challenge affecting the state at the moment was kidnapping, noting that as at December 51 kidnapping cases were recorded, 191 suspects arrested and various weapons recovered from suspects. http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/news/general/police-recruitment-posting-now-based-on-lgs-per-sate--igp/174521.html |

thegentile: Nigerians will never get angry, because the youths of this country lack history and we are so divided that we don't feel each other pains anymore. Take for example the way Igbo's and Yoruba's fight on nairaland, the people who come here to abuse tribes and ethnic groups are they foreigners? so until we correct this wickedness we are doing to ourselves we will continue to suffer in this country called Nigeria. Nairaland is suppose to be a platform to unit youths in this nation and not to divide us. Nairaland should be a platform for conscientious deliberation, but it saddens one's hearth to note that ethnic machinations always takes the front burner. The oppressors are always united when they want to share our common patrimony. But the oppressed are often divided when its time to hold them accountable. |

I don't know if we'll ever get there but judging by the comments on social media where I see poor, deprived youths leaping to the defense of their oppressors, I reckon we're a long way off from reaching the point of national rage. This your second paragraph is the part that breaks my heart daily. Why the heck should I struggle to buy data and use same to defend fani Kayode when he picks an argument with Jimoh Ibrahim. Or Fayose and buruji kashamu the fugitive. |

When will Nigerians get angry?
This question keeps popping in my head each time govt slaps us with a levy aimed at maintaining their obscene lifestyles.
Hardly have we come to terms with the CBN's draconian policy, directing telecoms companies to charge us more if we have any reasons to make phone calls beyond 2mins.
Here comes an NCC again, instructing the same telecoms to increase data charges, effective from next month.
We need to ask the Mr Minister of Communications, which categories of Nigerians are the most active data users?
Aren't they Students, Youths entrepreneurs? Unemployed graduates, youths seeking job advertisement online? Programmers? Et al.
Have these govt officials lost their minds? For God sake we employed this people to serve us and not to kill us.
When will Nigerians be angry?
Why is NCC hq and its state branches yet to be occupied by now?
The claim is Nigeria is broke and needs more revenue sources. Yet, some vagabonds in the national assembly are making orders for luxurious cars worth billions of scarce nairas? Executives are pocketing billions of naira every month in the name of security votes?
The former minister of finance, Okonjo Iweala, at the end her tenure proposed that luxury items like imported wines, private jets and their owners be taxed/levied. Govt seem not to have enough courage to impose taxes on this items and individuals. Yet they look in the direction of hapless masses?
When will Nigerians get angry?
Godwin Emefiele & Mr Shittu wants Nigerians, whose income have not increased since the commencement of the leadership induced recession, to pay more in order maintain an overbloated, ineffective and imprudent govt?
I ask again, when will Nigerians get angry.
Nigeria belongs to us all and not the few in govt. The decision for better life should not be left in the hands of those within the corridors of power.
Influential leaders, Progressive Students Union Movement, NANS, Leftist organizations, should call for a mass action now! Lalasticlala and mynd44 when will you guys be angry? |

Business › Obat Oil Dismisses Tale Of Skye Bank Takeover by citizenjuwon(op): 10:39pm On Nov 12, 2016 |
Mischief makers are bent on fouling the euphoric mood of the 7th ascension anniversary of Oba Frederick Obateru Akinruntan, the Olugbo of Ugboland, Ondo State and the Chairman of Obat Oil and Petroleum .Stories have been flying around about a purported takeover of the Obat Oil and Petroleum’s depot at H.I.M. Oba (Dr.) F.E.O. Akinruntan Close, Beachland Estate, Apapa, Lagos, over a loan allegedly indebted to Skye bank. The company has however debunked the publication, with a statement titled ‘ Skye Bank's Fictitious takeover of Obat oil. It reads,' The management of Obat oil and Petroleum has been drawn to the fictitious report making the rounds in the newspapers and social media about a purported takeover of the company by Skye Bank. We hereby refute the report and state categorically that there was no such incident. Contrary to claims that the takeover was approved and initiated by reason of the Federal High Court ruling, there is no ruling of the Federal High court directing or authorizing Skye Bank to take over Obat Tank farm/depot or its operation. We state categorically that there has been no takeover of Obat offices/tank farm and operations, rather the company’s many offices have been operating at optimum capacity, thus leaving the news being planted in the news media about the takeover in bad taste. We urge members of the public to disregard such news and publications'.
