Nairaland / General / Osun Food Support Scheme: Encomiums As Oyetola Govt Takes Palliatives To Marke by CityMirrorNews1: 5:51pm On Nov 22, 2021
...No going back in giving back to the people - Special Duties Commissioner

The monthly Food Support scheme of the Osun State Government on Monday, took a strategic dimension as the palliatives were taken to some markets in the State for distribution.

This is to ensure that citizens who are not captured under the World Bank Social Register adopted by the State for the distribution also benefit from the Food Support scheme.

It will be recalled that the State government last week flagged off the 8th edition of the scheme, which it said had reached over 240,000 beneficiaries so far.

Among the markets where food items were distributed on Monday are Akindeko Market, Igbonna Market, Oluode Market, Oja-Oba Market, Shasha Market, Ota-Efun Market, all in Osogbo, the State capital.

Others are Ilobu Market, Erin-Osun, Ifon Market among others in Osun Central Senatorial District.

Some of the beneficiaries who appeared elated and enthusiastic after receiving the palliatives commended the administration of Governor Oyetola for the gesture.

They prayed God to continue to uphold the Administration for prioritising the welfare and well-being of the citizens.

Mrs. Kudirat Adeyemi; Mr. Fatai Aremu, Mrs. Idowu Olayiwola and Mr. Risikat Amoo who are petty traders at Akindeko market, Osogbo, expressed gratitude to the government for taking the good gesture to their domains.

According to Mrs. Adeyemi, "the initiative is a reflection of the passion and love which the Administration of Governor Oyetola has for the masses as it had shown clearly that he has the welfare of the people at heart."

Also, some of the beneficiaries at the Igbonna, Oluode, Ilobu and Ifon markets, applauded the government on the sustenance of the scheme since its inauguration.

Mrs. Olasunkanmi Ayooade, a fruits seller at Ilobu market, said, "I must commend the government for sustaining this initiative. This is highly impressive and impactful. Though, I never thought I could benefit from this but with this, I have a positive story to tell. It is a good thing that aside the style adopted for distribution, it is now being taken to market places."

Speaking on the initiative, the State Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties, Engr. Olalekan Badmus, said there was no going back in giving back to the people.

He said the market approach strategy was adopted as part of effort to further reach out to the masses at the grassroots, saying the present administration was making deliberate efforts to ensure that citizens benefit directly and indirectly from policies and programmes of the government.

"We have gone to see how far we have been able to reach out to the people. We have relied on the World Bank-sponsored Social Register to reach out to the vulnerable citizens. However, in trying to ensure that we have more reach, we have introduced market approach. We are targeting all the markets in the State.

"For this month, we are beginning with 20 selected markets in the three Senatorial Districts and for the Central, we are beginning with Osogbo Federal Constituency and for the West, we are beginning with Ede federal, and for Osun East, we will start with Ijesa-South Federal Constituency.

"There is no doubt that Governor Oyetola is passionate about the welfare of the people, and the massive turnout of the people at various markets visited is an indication that they love the Governor and his Government.

"It is a good thing that the Governor is giving back to the people and we shall continue to maintain this by ensuring that the welfare and well-being of the people are guaranteed", he added.

Nairaland / General / Infrastructural Development Under Governor Gboyega Oyetola In Osun by CityMirrorNews1: 2:17pm On Nov 11, 2021
The Osun State Government under Governor Gboyega Oyetola is caring out with the state infrastructural development across the state, reaching out to the people of Osogbo the state capital.

However one of the reasons the Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola , has remained in the good books of Osun people is the massive infrastructural development that the state has witnessed since the governor assumed mantle of leadership in November, 2018.

At the twilight of his taken over as incumbent Governor Gboyega Oyetola commissioned four projects as part of the activities marking his taken over.

The commissioned projects were: upgraded Technical College, Oba Sir Adesoji Aderemi East Bypass, Obafemi Awolowo Motorway and

Fakunle/Unity High School, all in Osogbo. Prominent among the projects is the Awolowo Motorway which is the dualisation of 40km Osogbo–Ikirun–Ila odo, Kwara State Boundary.

The road construction projects created over 5,000 direct jobs in the state and 12,000 indirect jobs for welders, plumbers and bricklayers, as well as food vendors.

Though quite a number of projects are being undertaken by Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State, but clearly, the flagship project of the massive investment in upgrading of infrastructural amenities in the state in recent months, especially in Osogbo, the state capital, is the dualisation of the 45 kilometer Osogbo-Ikirun-Kwara State Boundary road.

It would be recalled that Federal Executive Council (FEC)recently approved NNPC’s request to fix 21 federal roads at N621bn.

However Southern Nigeria got a total of 228.22km while rehabilitation and expansion of Lagos-Badagry Expressway (Agbara Junction-Nigeria/Benin border) in Lagos State. 62km was equally involved

Also Dualization of Ibadan-Ilorin road (Route A2) Section II in Oyo State (Oyo-Ogbomosho). 52km

Consequently the people of Osun state are equally urging Governor Gboyega Oyetola to make move on NNPC,s roads projects so that Osun could benefit on the project as to assist in the completion of Osogbo (Old-garage) to Ikirun junction road (20.5 kilometers) and Ikirun-Ila Odo- Kwara State Boundary road (16.55 kilometers).

Since the state government signed a N17.8 billion contract agreement with SAMMYA Construction Company Limited for the Dualisation of the 45kilometer road, the project segmented into three of Osogbo-Dagbolu (International market) to Alamisi Market in Ikirun (9.52 kilometers); Osogbo (Old-garage) to Ikirun junction road (20.5 kilometers) and Ikirun-Ila Odo- Kwara State Boundary road (16.55 kilometers), the state government has been receiving a lot of commendations from both the people living in the state and road users using the ever busy Osogbo-IIorin road.

In line with the assurance given by the past government , that the project would be completed within 24 months, with the explanation that the project was not the usual direct contract award, but a Contractor-Financing transaction which came out of the confidence of the contractor in the previous administration and that the money for the contract would be repaid across 36 months after the completion of the project,

Stakeholders Comments

The Contractor, SAMMYA Construction Company Limited has not only demonstrated its capabilities in executing the project technical wise, but it has also displayed a rather solid financial war chest that only few construction companies can boast of, thereby clearing any doubt about the success of the project. This is the submission of one Kunle Folorunsho who resides in Ota-Efun, Osogbo the state capital.

Chairman of the rulling party ,All Progressive Congress in the State Prince Gboyega Famodun who commented on the dualization Old Garage to Kwara State boundry opined that contractor handling the project is very much on site and he is doing well.

Famodun stated that there is tremendous achievements and the work is getting to the outskirts of Ikirun town already.

He however submitted that funding was the bane of it's problem, saying it was affected by fund but notwithstanding the government still doing its best.

The APC Chairman stressed that it was a federal government road but the State government took over inform of collaboration, saying that the government of Governor Gboyega Oyetola would not relent in the completion of the project.

Also an APC stalwart Mrs Adeola Egbedokun contended that the contractor handling the project has remained Committed to its speedy completion.

She urged the state government to make available everything that is needed to complete the project in a very shortest period.

Equally a civil servant who does not want his name mentioned told THISDAY yesterday afternoon that the contractor handling the project should be mobilised with funds for its full completion.

He remarked that the contractor is doing good job on site and urged the state government to as a matter of urgency to make adequate funding a watchword.

Commendations.

About Eight years down the line since work commenced on the multi-billion naira project however, opinions of people of the state about the performance of the contractor on the job has been nearly the same, with people praising the technical knowhow that has never been seen in the state before now being employed by SAMMYA in executing the project.

However one Adeyi Olakunle who spoke with THISDAY said: We are celebrating an enduring legacy, a legacy that has been through storms, insult and many other challenges.

“Oyetola has done what Awolowo aimed to do. The dream of Awolowo was to ensure every Nigerian is literate. All what

Oyetola have been doing in fulfilment of Awolowo’s dream. Aregbesola’s behavior is similar to that of Awolowo. He has transformed Osun in spite of the financial and political challenges. I thank God for Oyetola,s success.”

Speaking, Prince Aderonmu Kunle said Oyetola is a great man, adding that his projects are unforgettable because they are developmental, adding that, “Oyetola is the first Nigerian politician to bring back history and honour Nigerian past leaders like Oba Aderemi and Awolowo. Oyetola has laid wonderful foundation for the progress of the state”.

Nairaland / General / Drama As UNIOSUN Workers Celebrate Mock Funeral Of VC Labode Popoola’s Exit In O by CityMirrorNews1: 8:20am On Nov 06, 2021
Drama As UNIOSUN Workers Celebrate Mock Funeral Of VC Labode Popoola’s Exit In Office

---Describe Him As ‘Tyrant Administrator’

Workers of the Osun State University yesterday staged a mock funeral celebration to send off the immediate past Vice-Chancellor, Prof Labode Popoola whom they described as a tyrant administrator.

The members of staff of the university gathered at their Osogbo campus as early as 10:00am and celebrated the exit of Popoola amid dancing, singing and frying of bean cake.

It was dramatic as students of the institution watched the workers who used brooms to sweep from the school Vice-Chancellor's office to the school gate. They later ate the bean cake as a sign of farewell to Popoola.

The staff, who are members of the three unions including the Non-academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), and National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), argued that Popoola's tenure was not palatable and that his five years tenure was filled with injustice, corruption, nepotism, impunity, abuse of office and illegalities.

They hung a banner on the Senate Building of the campus bearing the picture of Popoola and inscriptions such as "With gratitude to God, the entire staff of Osun State University celebrate the inglorious exit of a mischievous tyrant, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Labode Popoola. He will be fondly remembered for lies, mischiefs, high-handedness, arrogance, divide and rule, power drunkenness, corruption, abuse of office, power intoxication, fetishism, sadism, witch hunting, nepotism, illegalities, among others."

The jubilant workers expressed joy for the exit of Popoola who left office officially on Thursday and urged the newly appointed Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adefemi Bello, to right the alleged wrongs of Popoola.

Addressing the workers, the Chairman of NASU, Comrade Isaiah Fayemi, disclosed that Popoola interdicted workers for protesting against his alleged corrupt practices adding that the Chairman of Joint Action Committee of the university, Comrade Lekan Adiat and dive others are currently interdicted.

"Popoola is a VC that came and used his position to victimise us, to withhold our salaries, and that is why we are celebrating his exit. We are happy that he is gone and gone forever. One of the reasons why we have gathered to celebrate his exit is for everyone to learn lessons and for those in positions of authority, that if you do good, you will be celebrated and if you do bad, like Popoola did, you will be condemned. We expect the newly appointed VC to do well. We started this university together," Fayemi said.

Jubilation Galore As Engr Sowade Donates Air Conditioners, Generating Set To Ogunsua Palace To Mark Gov Oyetola 67th Birthday

---Says There Is A Need To Give Back To The People

---Describes Gov As Silent Achiever

There was a jubilation galore at the palace of Ogunsua Modakeke in Ife East Area Council, Osun State when a philanthropist, Engr Kayode Sowade donated a 60kva generating set and 5 sets of split air conditioning units to the palace in commemoration of the 67th Birthday of Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State.

Scores of members of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC in the ancient town had thronged the palace in solidarity with Engr Sowade who they described as a core loyalist of Governor Gboyega Oyetola and lover of his administrative style.

Recalls that Governor Oyetola had recently marked his birthday anniversary in Osogbo, Osun State capital.

Speaking, Engr Sowade reiterated his commitment in giving back to the society.

He said he felt the need to give back to his community as he was brought up in the town.

He said: "I felt the need to give back to my people. I was brought up in this town, this is my home. I believe we need to rebuild our palace because it is our heritage".

The donor also congratulated the Governor on his 67th birthday and appreciated him for all he has been doing across sectors in bringing development to the state, saying Oyetola is a silent achiever.

He said: "Today is a way of marking the Governor Adegboyega Oyetola's birthday and to commend what he has done in the state and Modakeke in particular

"There are roads that has been abandoned for about 38 years, but the Governor has fixed it. We need to appreciate him and thank God for his life. This is a way to say happy birthday to him.

" We look at what can be done to complement his efforts and we find the need to donate the Generator and some split Air Conditions to the palace just to say thank you to the Governor and for him to do more.

"It is not about the cost but we given gratitude to the Governor because in the last three years, we see him touching all sectors that will have impact in our lives in terms of roads, Education and Infrastructure".

While speaking at the event, the Ogunsua of Modakeke, His Royal Majesty, Oba Moses Oladejo Ajonbadi III appreciated the kind gesture of Engineer Sowade.

The Kabiesi who spoke with newsmen through the Moye of Modakeke, Chief Adeniyi Adetunji said: " On behalf of Kabiesi, I'm expressing our gratitude to Engineer Kayode Sowade for this beautiful gesture. He has lightening the palace and we pray God will light his way.

"We are using this opportunity to demand from the Government to provide a standby security to the palace. I want to confess to you that this palace is porous. It's accessible to everybody. There should be a check from the gate there on people coming in and seeing a uniform person stopping you at the gate will command a respect.

" Our people do not respect people in mufti challenging them to stop. They will tell you this is our palace. So, we need a standing police officer working here 24/7 probably on rotational basis. If we have security operatives here, there would not be entry of people as they like.

" Though, local hunters are helping us but they need to go and fend for themselves. We need a standing security.

"We also need solar energy to run this machines so that the equipments can work effectively as the donor as plan and security lights round the palace. The palace is also needed to be fully furnished.

"I'm presently working with the Kabiesi 24 hours in the palace. This is a welcome development. Nobody likes darkness. Darkness is an enemy of human being. If someone is lightning our way, we have to be very grateful.

The monarch reiterated that some of the major roads connecting the town to villages are not in good shape which needed Government urgent intervention for farmers to bring their farm produce to the market for sale.

He said: "Our major challenge in Modakeke is bad roads across across the town. All roads that connect the town to villages are not in good shape and at the end of every season, we need to bring our farm outputs from villages to town to for sale.

" We are suffering. However, We are very thankful to the present administration of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for rehabilitating some of the roads here but need him to do more.

"Some of roads that links our streets needs to be done. So, oads is our main problem here. I'm using this medium to plead with the government to help us out on it". Adetunji added.

Nairaland / General / Osun Assembly Summons IBEDC, Others Over Power Outage In Six Communities by CityMirrorNews1: 10:34am On Oct 07, 2021
By Ayobami Agboola, Osogbo

Perturbed by the continued power outage in Ife North Local Government Area of Osun State, the Osun State House of Assembly has passed a motion to summon the Managing Director of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), the Nigerian Electricity Regulation Commission (NERC) and the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).

The motion was moved Honourable
Tunde Olatunji, the lawmaker representing Ife North State Constituency in the House of Assembly.

CityMirrorNews recalls that some communities in Ife North Local Government Area of Osun State had recently cried out to the management of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) over blackout in the communities.

The six affected communities including Ipetumodu, Edunabon, Moro, Yakooyo, Asipa and Akinlalu said they have been living in darkness in the last four months adding that their complaints and lamentations to the State Government and IBEDC have been ignored.

CityMirrorNews gathered that a transformer, 7.5MVA Substation at Moro, that supplies electricity to the communities had developed fault as a result of overloading.

Moving the motion during Plenary, the Chief Whip of the Assembly, Olatunji stated that it became necessary towards finding a lasting solution to the total system collapse of the 7.5MVA electricity power substation in his constituency.

Olatunji disclosed that six major communities in the council are experiencing electricity blackout for the past four months due to a faulty transformer.

According to the lawmaker, “I moved a motion on the Power outage in Ife North State Constituency and the poor responsiveness of the electricity service provider as a matter of urgent public importance at the plenary today.

“I reiterated the untold hardship the power outage has brought on our people and the poor and unacceptable responsiveness of the distribution company to our plight despite several efforts and engagements with the company on how to repair the faulty equipment and restore light.”

While emphasising the importance of electricity as an essential public utility that every citizens deserved to enjoy, he accused the distribution company, IBEDC of poor service delivery which had left several communities in the local government frustrated and resorting to self help.

He added that despite the takeover of electricity distribution by private companies, they were only interested in billing and collection of tariff and not the provision or repair of the equipments they need to generate the tariff.

"Electricity is an essential public utility and every citizen deserves to enjoy the facility. Despite the take over of electricity distribution by private companies, the poor service delivery of the Distribution Companies (DisCos) has left most communities frustrated and the people now resort to self-help. Our distribution company is only interested in billing and collection of tariff and not the provision or repair of the equipments they need to generate the tariff.

"I therefore moved a motion that the House of Assembly should summon the Managing Director of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) to appear before it on Wednesday, 13th October, 2021 on resolving the power outage in Ife North and the motion was granted.

“It is indeed a major milestone towards restoring electricity in Ife North State constituency and addressing the unsatisfactory attitude of the electricity distribution company to the citizens of our State,” he said.

Osun communities lament months of darkness, demand Govt, IBEDC intervention.

The Presidents of Ife-North Progressive Union, Sunday Oyebowale, Amos Adeniran, Femi Ojedele, Adewale Oyebowale, Rauf Oladunjoye, and Femi Odelana, had during a press conference lamented the effect of the lack of electricity adding that it has encouraged insecurity, theft and economic paralysis.

Speaking on behalf of the communities, President of Ipetumodu, Sunday Oyebowale, said the substation is grossly inadequate and requires a total upgrading and overhauling. He said, "It is very sad and very disheartening to note that Ife-North Local Government have been experiencing total blackout four months ago and nothing has been done by the IBEDC to alleviate our problem.

"The total blackout has been encouraging kidnapping of people, as we know that when there is no light, nay bad cat is easy to perpetrate. Non supply of electricity has encouraged theft in the communities. At Asipa community, a shop was looted by thieves who took advantage of the darkness; this same problem had been reported in many areas in the local government.

"Our economic activities have been paralysed as people using electricity to do their daily works find it very difficult to transact their businesses and this need urgent attention so that the society will not become desolate. Ife-North has been known for peace but this absence of light has made it to be a lawless society where different people just come into the Local Government unchallenged at night. Out System Government and the IBEDC must make sure that positive step is taken before things go out of hands.

"People who deal with frozen food business are suffering because there is no electricity to freeze their food and many of them have turned to debtors due to the damage of their wares like fish, turkey and meat of all kinds. Artisans like welders, hair dressers, electricians and all sorts of trades are suffering because if lack of electricity supply.

"We have written several letters to the State Governor and the IBEDC even to their main office in Ibadan but nothing has been done. We are imploring people in authority and Nigeria Government to stand up and assist us so that we won't continue to suffer," he said.

Reacting to the development, the IBEDC Regional Communication Officer, Kikelomo Owoeye, said the company was aware of the problem and working tirelessly to restore electricity to the communities.

Owoeye appealed to the residents to exercise more patience, saying the company is not resting on its oars to restore power supply to the affected towns.

“We are aware of the blackout in the communities and we have been working on the faulty transformer, but is yet to come up.

“We have been on it for awhile. It is not that we left the situation like that and the people in the communities are aware of this.

“We appeal to them to exercise more patience, our engineers are working tirelessly to restore electricity to the communities”, Owoeye said.

Nairaland / General / I'm Impressed With Responses Of Yoruba Obas On Asiwaju Tinubu's 2023 Presidentia by CityMirrorNews1: 7:12pm On Oct 06, 2021
I'm Impressed With Responses Of Yoruba Obas On Asiwaju Tinubu's 2023 Presidential Bid- Rotimi Makinde

The presidential ambition of All Progressives Congress (APC) National leader, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu has again gathered momentum just as key Yoruba traditional leaders in Lagos are now throwing their weights behind the agenda.

In what seemed to be unprecedented, the traditional rulers openly and happily endorsed Tinubu whom they believe has everything to govern Nigeria better than any other individual after the end of the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

South West Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA) 2023 has been the group promoting this initiative. SWAGA’23, is a campaign group championing the candidature of the former Lagos State Governor, Tinubu.

The group had commenced a week long sensitization, consultation and mobilisation tour in Lagos since Sunday, October 3, 2021 with visits to traditional rulers in Badagry, Ikeja, and Lagos Divisions, soliciting for their support and the feedbacks have been impressive.

Reacting to the recent development, a former member of House of Representatives in the 7th Assembly, Hon Rotimi Makinde who is a key member of SWAGA 2023 commended the unprecedented approach of the traditional rulers and described them as true custodians of tradition and culture who mean well for Yourba ethnic nationality and Nigeria by extension.

He said,

"I am deeply impressed with the turnout and genuine commitments of our Yoruba traditional rulers, their responses on Asiwaju presidential bid is quite unbelievable, they have proven beyond doubt that they truly mean well for their subjects in the overall good of our nation, Nigeria.

Makinde continued, "this laudable gesture abundantly showed that Yoruba elders and traditional leaders have learned from history and are also saying enough to this curse of every 30, 30 years on us as a people. We are happy that the jinx against Yoruba unity and progress have been finally broken by these highly revered Obas who came out in large numbers from their respective kingdoms and endorsed Asiwaju. I am strongly confident that Asiwaju is the best man for the job and his landslide victory in 2023 can never be controverted."

Osun Govt Organises Essay Competition To Mark Nigeria's 61 Independence As Bowen University Medical Student Wins Toyota Corolla

By Ayobami Agboola, Osogbo

A student of Bowen University, Iwo, Master Adeyemo Victor has emerged the winner of the tertiary institution category in the 2021 Independence Day essay competition organized by the Osun State Government, while Miss Adegboyega Abisola Faith of Fakunle Comprehensive High School, Osogbo won the secondary school category.

This is as the Governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola said his administration is concerned about building the next generation of leaders in the State.

Master Adeyemo is a medical student, who hails from Odo-Otin Local Government area of the State, while Miss Adegboyega is from Olorunda LG.

It would be recalled that the State Government of Osun had announced that interested students of secondary schools and higher institutions of learning should submit essays on the chosen topics.

Governor Oyetola who was represented by his Deputy, Olugboyega Alabi, at the Grand Finale of the essay competition, organised by the State Government to commemorate the 61st Year Independence Anniversary of the country, said: “This essay competition recommends itself highly as a platform for stimulating excellence among our students. It charges them not only to be imaginative as active producers of relevant ideas for nation-building, but to also courageously ventilate such ideas unashamedly in the public space.

“What comes with such effort is the deliberate training of the mind to acquire the requisite capacity for healthy engagement of societal challenges. This is the goal of any functional education.

“Since assumption of office, our Administration has prioritized the provision of qualitative education for our young people. This is because we know that building a sustainably prosperous state requires strategic investment in our young people in a manner that prepares them for the reality of the keenly competitive global knowledge economy.

“This is the least we owe our young people, and we shall not disappoint them”, Oyetola said.

In his welcome address, the Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties, Lekan Badmus appreciated the state governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, for approving the Osun 2021 essay competition among students from secondary and tertiary Institutions as part of the activities lined up to mark the 61st Independence Day of Nigeria.

He further disclosed that the Ministry of Regional Integration and Special Duties received 700 entries from 34 participating schools of both private and public higher Institutions across the country. The entries were also received from 23 local government areas of the State and also from non-indigenes.

According to Badmus: “Today, our dear state has assembled sizeable population of youths to think and suggest probable solutions to the challenges facing us as a nation. To some people, this might not sound interesting as Osun state Government has thought-out-of-box and moved away from the conventional March past to this assemblage.

“You will agree with me that this initiative will promote reading and writing culture among our students. This gesture is dynamic, capable of encouraging healthy rivalry as well as intellectual competition amongst Students’ in Secondary and Tertiary Institutions. I thank Your Excellency for powering this laudable programme”, he said.

In his keynote address, the Chairman of the event, Lt. General Lamidi Adeosun (rtd), gave kudos to the governor for giving the students the opportunity to participate in the essay competition.

General Adeosun described the event as a thing of joy, adding that in a world where negative activities have become the norm, Osun State has braved up to organise such a challenging event.

He charged participants and the teeming youth population of State not to relent in their efforts in contributing their quota to the development of the society, adding that education, security and other developmental needs of the State and the nation, are a collective responsibility.

He also recommended a revisit of family values and ideals as instrumental to rebuilding the weak security architecture of the nation, adding that security is not only a top-down affair, but also has bottom-up dimension which lies in the hands of citizens.

The winner of the maiden edition, Abosede Samson Oyinlola, lauded the administration of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for the initiative behind the essay competition, describing it as a preparatory phase for future leaders of the State to begin to identify the problems facing the society and proffer solutions.

In his goodwill message, the Head of Service, Dr. Olowogboyega Oyebade, lauded Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for the initiative, stating that: “I’m a product of this kind of a competition”. He charged participants to see the prizes gotten from the exercise as a start-up pack for greater accomplishments.

After serious scrutiny of the final 25 contestants in both secondary and tertiary category, the three best candidates who emerged winner were: Adegboyega Abisola Faith from Fakunle Comprehensive High School, Olaniyi Inioluwa Opeyemi from Ambassadors College Ile-Ife, and Onwugbofor Happiness from Our Lady and St. Francis College – for the secondary school category.

The ruling APC Secretariat is situated in a spacious compound on the road at Ogo-Oluwa area but the road is regularly closed arbitrarily by the police each time activities are held in the Secretariat.

While the compound is large enough to accommodate most of its programs, observers keep wondering why the road had to be closed each time activities are held.

As it has been established, poor leadership is responsible for over seventy-five percent of the problem currently confronting our nation. It is very glaring that the social-economic and political atmosphere is not favourable to the masses of our people in Osun state and the country at large.

As we are now looking forward to seeing another Governorship election in Osun state in 2022 and another round of general elections in the country in 2023, the time has come for us to be more careful about the caliber of the people we put forward as leaders

The development which majority of political analysts described as a tenacious political sagacity of Senator Jumokol.

There has been some clamouring for senator Ogunwale to re contest for the Osun Central senatorial seat.

Given his antecedent and his contribution on the floor of the house, between 2003 and 2007, it will not be a bad idea if Ogunwale yield to the calls of his constituent.

After all, his contribution to his party in the recent time is enough testament that he is loved by his people and this should count for something.

Nairaland / General / Osun PDP: Adagunodo Faults Query Issued Against State Executive Officers by CityMirrorNews1: 1:29pm On Aug 04, 2021
Osun PDP: Adagunodo Faults Query Issued Against State Executive Officers, Says It’s Illegal

The embattled Chairman of the Peoples Democratic party in Osun State, Hon. Clement Olasoji Adagunodo has described a purported query that was allegedly issued by the State Secretary of the party, Prince Bola Ajao as illegal, null and void and of no effect.

Adagunodo who expressed shock in a release today in Osogbo and made available to news men said all what Prince Bola Ajao did amounted to flagrant violation of the constitution of the party because the constitution of PDP is clear enough that a factional chairman has no power or authority to direct the State Secretary to carry out such a function to call a selective executive meeting.

According to Hon. Adagunodo, "the composition of the State Executives of the party in Section 24 (1) (a) - (x) states clearly those who must be on seat before the party can issue queries to members of the State Executives Committee in case there is an infraction."

Adagunodo added that "a factional Chairman of a pressure group like Sunday Bisi, the legally recognized Publicity Secretary of the party has no constitutional power/authority to delegate power, assign or give the State Secretary any instruction to act the way he did.

According to Hon. Soji Adagunodo, the queried officers are not bothered about the illegality going on in Osun PDP under the factional Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi and they will take appropriate action if necessary on the purported query issued to them, however, they largely rely on the pronouncements of the Court, because:

1. They have been reporting to PDP Secretariat, located at the King's Square, Opposite BIKET Hospital Junction, Ikirun Road at regular intervals and holding meetings as occasion demands more so that they have not been invited to their actional meetings for obvious reasons.

2. As far as law is concerned, Adagunodo remains the Chairman because the ruling of Ikirun High Court of November 9th, 2020 has neither been vacated, nor appealed.

3. Even Court of Appeal Akure, for the fact that it refused to uphold Ground 6 of the Appellant, did not remove Adagunodo as Chairman. (See the case of Mafimisebi Vs Obaruntan)

4. No Court in the land has ever made specific order or judgment that the usurper is the Chairman of PDP in Osun State or that he should return to office as Acting Chairman after his removal of 3rd November, 2020 and the validation of same on 9th November, 2020 in a preservative order granted Adagunodo to continue in office pending the final determination of the substantive case. They should not add what is not contained in the Court of Appeal Judgment into it.

5. For the fact that the purported removal from office by NWC has never been approved by NEC of the party, Hon. Soji Adagunodo remains the chairman, whom they reported to in compliance with Section 59 (3) (a) to (x) of the Constitution of the Party.). The NEC has held at least three or four meetings after the purported suspension and the issue or ratification of same was never tabled or discussed.

7. Even the usurper's unlawful appointment by the National Working Committee was set aside by a court of competent jurisdiction on the 9th of November, 2020 which decision restored me back to office as the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Osun State Chapter which is still very valid, subsisting and binding on all parties as same is yet to be appealed against or set aside by an appellate court of competent jurisdiction.

8. In what capacity can a fellow Exco member query another fellow Exco member? None.

9. It is the person that issued the Query that should be sanctioned for factionalising the Party and for holding purported Selective State Exco Meeting in a private residence and building. (See the case of Inakoju & ors Vs Adeleke... ) (Governor Rasheed Ladoja's case).

10. It is interesting and rather unfortunate that, the usurper who precipitated the first crisis, without waiting for it to be resolved or making any move whatsoever in resolving the crisis in Osun PDP have now scaled up their desire to destroy the party, by stirring the hornest net. This is not an issue of the opposition party to blame, as the usurper are trying to deceive the unwavering, rather it is a self inflicted injury, born out of inordinate ambition and financial gains. It is not going to work. They have, for the second time, thrown their hat into the rings; we are very ready to accept the challenge. It is a matter of " iron will bend iron."

The party will not cede her control and authority to power Merchants who are wining and dining with the opposition Government at the Federal level and in some states yet pretending to be sympathetic to the course of PDP in Osun State. The party will confront the gamers and enhance our electoral values and ultimate victory in 2022 by the Grace of God.

Going by the above analysis, Hon. Adagunodo said the purported query of our seven officers is in total violation of the provisions of the constitution of the party which vested the power to query erring officers or members of the state Executives on the State Executive Committee of the party as entrenched in the constitution not a selective one as done by the factional executives loyal Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke and the query should be discarded, disregarded and treated as null and void and of no effect.
