TheSuperNerd:
Guys, and ladies. Look at what I found out of casual browsing on the Naija footballers FB page.

Even "Naijafootballers" copied my own content verbatim without giving due credit. Claimed it was compiled by a greatziad on Facebook. Na wa!

The last time this happened many weeks ago, it was a twitter football account. Now it is Naijafootballers.

I know this for a fact: This Greatziad guy (yep, it's a He) visits this thread, copied everything word for word and claims it as his own.
And the most interesting part is I think I know exactly who that moniker is.

I will give that moniker time to see this post and respond or else I will reveal the moniker myself. And dont think you can deny it coz it's so obvious. You couldn't even hide your name.

Now to this moniker, I wanna just say this:
The least you should have done is to attach the real source of your info. It's not cool taking someone's post and running with it as yours. It's absolutely rubbish and speaks volumes of your own lack of original information search. I bring out a little precious time to put these kind of info together thanks to notifications I set up myself on my gadgets just for the passion of following as many of our lads as possible across Europe and the rest of the world.
You should have acknowledged the true source. What you did was very ungentlemanly and cheap plagiarism.

Now, I have good respect for Naijafootballers and what they do. Infact I am looking forward to their video special on Osimhen's "Back to the beginning" story but this is not cool. Probably not even their fault b'cos the greatzaid guy made them believe it is his compilation. That wasn't so great at all. Nothing Great about claiming someone else's originality.
Nice apology from zayyadidris

The last time I checked, club football still stood as the major unit of measurement to determine who deserves a call up. It's wrong to judge a player with just one game, irrespective of the outcome. Onuachu comes to mind.
Someone played for you at 28, he could barely carry himself. You now want the same person to perform wonders at 31 years grin grin grin. Mind you he may even be older than the 31 he is claiming.

For your information, I never rated Onuachu.

There's no reason why Amaju pinic should step in here. The private league would just be like a a street football competition since it wouldn't be presenting teams for the CAF competitions.

NPIFL secure N200m sponsorship deal for league
June 2, 2020 Editorial IV Sports 0

No fewer than 10 Nigerian private clubs have concluded plans to start a separate private league christened, Nigeria Private Investors Football League (NPIFL).

The NPIFL, which will consist of only private owned football clubs on Tuesday announced N200 million sponsorship.

The league organising body on Monday also set up five-man committee whose primary duty is to register the league and get approval from authority ahead of the kick off scheduled for this year.

“The temporary five-man committee headed by Proprietor, Remo Stars, Kunle Soname has been set up to make sure that they get the league registered and get approval from the authority,” sources said.

“When this is achieved, other private clubs who are willing to join can then register to participate in the NPIFL where every match will be live streamed and shown live on TV.

Proprietor of Kaduna-based Nigeria National League side, Kada City Football Club, Ekene Adams, while reacting to why a separate league from the leagues organised by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the ‘youngest club owner’ said that the initiative was borne out of the how NFF is running Nigeria Football which add no financial value to private club owners adding that private clubs are the ones recognised by FIFA.

“We are not happy with the way the private club owners are been treated like an outcast. We sat down to seek the way forward for Nigerian football because there is nothing to write home about in the league. We then decided to invest in our own private league which will commence soon. Ekene Adams added.

“As we speak football clubs like; Dynamite Force of Benin, MFM FC Lagos, Oyah Sports Surja, Remo Stars Ogun State, Kada City of Kaduna, Go-Round FC and host of others have already registered for the independent league.

“The registered clubs will compete for the N200m prize money drawn from South-South, South-West, South-East, North-Central, North-West, and North-East.

“The TV stations and sponsors are already on ground waiting for the approval from the authority before setting the ball rolling.

“We don’t have any problem with anyone; in fact, we work hand-in-hand with the NFF. The private clubs owners are the real investors,” he concluded.

The champions in the first season will smile home with N100 million prize while the runners-up and 3rd position pocket N60 and N40 million respectively.

The champions, runners-up will not engage in any CAF inter-club competitions.

Adelakun Was The One Doing All The Job Looking For Players' - Nigeria Great Odegbami Blasts Rohr

In a no-holds-barred interview with Nigerian television station Plus TV Africa monitored by allnigeriasoccer.com, legendary Nigeria winger Segun Odegbami strongly criticized the decision of the Nigeria Football Federation to give a new contract to Gernot Rohr.

The Franco-German football tactician is on the verge of inking a new deal with the NFF amidst all the conditions laid out in the proposed deal, including living in Nigeria to monitor potential Super Eagles players in the domestic championship and being paid in the local currency.

"I don't know about the plot to send him packing, I have been an advocate of the end of foreign coaches in Nigerian football and I stand by that," said Odegbami.

"It is very insensitive of people at this time in our history considering where we are now with the coronavirus opening our eyes to the new realities of the world for us to continue to go back to something that has failed us."

The highlight of Odegbami's interview was when he revealed that English-based scout of Nigerian descent, Tunde Adelakun was the one doing most of the job assigned to Rohr.

Adelakun has often been sighted at English Premier League match venues monitoring players of Nigerian descent with a view to a call-up to the national team.

"Gernot Rohr didn't succeed, he took all that money, didn't spend his time in this country.

"A black young Nigerian man, Tunde Adelakun was the one doing all the job, combing the whole of Europe to look for players and all Gernot Rohr was doing was spending few days to assemble players and play matches.

"Besides that his scoreline is not anything that Nigerians have not done before so we must put an end to this slavery and colonial mentality," Odegbami added.

The 1980 Africa Cup of Nations winner concluded by saying that an indigenous coach should be in charge of the Super Eagles

"Nigerians at this point have to look inwards, everything around us shows that these people out there don't love us so they can't love our country more than us.

"We have Nigerians who can do the job, they have always done the job and they can still do the job.

"Gernot Rohr, we have no business discussing with him, his contract expires in June, he should just go quietly."

This Ejaria...what does he bring to super eagles?

We seem to be collecting second class players and rejoicing. Though half bread is.....

Does he bring element of fear on opponents? Some teams then if they are playing against Okocha...hhhmmm.. Everywhere will be pulsating...opposition defenders will be receiving endless tutorials. I am not comparing Ejaria to Okocha but i think he is a low budget Iwobi. grin

Who is Ejaria? Football sometimes need this fear, I remember that time we use to play Cameroon with Milla,Mfede,Kunde,Bonaventure,Marc Vivien Foe...we normally lose to them due to fear. So there is nothing to excite about Ejaria...why is he not in First team....the guy is average please....his style of play lacks bravery and risk....he cannot even shoot...a midfielder ooooo...that cannot shoot....If he is a striker that cannot shoot but puts the ball in the net..thats ok..like PIPO INZAGHI...But a midfielder not shooting...is that not lack of confidence?

I am not against his coming to the team...may be.. may be... he may improve...but i am not really impressed with his addition..We remain an average team

My opinion...
Okocha didn't make his name overnight. The guy is still good and still developing.

Super Eagles coach Rohr hits back at demands to use Nigeria-based players

COLIN UDOH

At 66 years old, the Nigeria coach has seen and experienced just about all there is to be seen and experienced. Attempts to rile him, whether contrived or not, continue to fall flat in the face of his measured disposition.

Throughout his tenure as Super Eagles coach, and in recent weeks, there have been calls for him to select more Nigeria-based players in the national team; but Rohr shut that down, telling ESPN in a lengthy interview that the country's best players are in Europe not Nigeria,

"We cannot find all the time players in the local league who are better than the other ones," Rohr told ESPN.

The criterion for us, the first criteria is the quality of the players. Everybody knows, not only in Nigeria, that the best players are in Europe or somewhere else in professional leagues. That is the fact."

As true as that statement may be, it is bound to put Rohr firmly in the line of fire with critics. As if he were not already the centre of attention.

With football -- like other sports -- on a coronavirus-enforced pause, few topics have dominated Nigerian sporting discussion as much as the Super Eagles coach, his contract, his technical abilities (or perceived lack of), and everything else in between.

Early this week, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president Amaju Pinnick stoked those fires in a television interview in which he disclosed certain conditions in the new contract to be offered to the coach.

In typical style, Rohr doused that particular fire in a quick reaction to ESPN, but it did not quite seem to be enough to address the other issues.

Among those issues were the NFF's recent decision to fire Imama Amapakabo, one of Rohr's more trusty assistants, and replace him with the inexperienced former Nigeria captain Jospeh Yobo.

Both the manner of the decision (without the coach being consulted) and the speed of it, not to mention the relative lack of certification of the replacement, would have been enough to rile any other coach.

Not Rohr

"It is interesting to have such a former player with us," Rohr said.

"I was satisfied with the job of Imama. He was a very good assistant. But NFF decided to change so I have to accept, and I accept. I see that this person now is in a good spirit and I am happy about it. There will not be any problem in our staff.

"I think it only could be so easy to say let's do two years more. Nothing special from my side that I want more. So it could be very easy."

To demonstrate his lack of ill-feeling, Rohr said he had already put the newest addition to his staff to work

"We spoke together; he gave me a first call and then I called him back and we are in touch regularly. I even asked him to help me already because I cannot move for the moment to take connections and contact our players in Nigeria.

"I asked him to meet and speak with Ikechukwu Ezenwa, with Ifeanyi Ifeanyi who was with us for one of the last games. There is also Samuel Kalu, who is also in Lagos because he was able to take one of the last planes out of France. So I asked him to be in touch with some of our players who are in Nigeria, and that is what he did.

"I am happy to see that he has good motivation and is in good spirits and I think we can have a good working relationship together."

Ezenwa and Ifeanyi -- whom Yobo will be monitoring on Rohr's behalf -- are part of the German's rebuttal to suggestions that he does not give players from Nigeria's domestic league a chance in his national squad.

Ezenwa has been a permanent fixture of Rohr's squad from the get go, and he was even first-choice goalkeeper for the majority of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Ifeanyi was called up for games while was an Akwa United player before he left for Europe.

Rohr pointed out that the numbers back him up, if not the players who run off after call-ups.

"I invited already more than 23 or 24 local players since I have been in charge of the Super Eagles," he said, adding with a slight chuckle, "but we invite them and then immediately they are going to Europe. It is wonderful for them but maybe not for us."

With the B Super Eagles team, which is comprised of domestic league players, failing to qualify for the Africa Nations Championships (CHAN), a tournament for players who play in their country, Rohr said his job had been made more difficult.

"CHAN team and under-20 team must play all the time. The coaches who are responsible for these teams, must work with me together. And normally the best of the league are in either CHAN or under-20 or under-17."

And Rohr says he still has his scouts looking for young prospects in the country, and advises the league clubs to look to the academies for talent.

"I think they should also look at the academy to find the best young players. This could be a new chapter of this next future. That is why I have also my assistants like Victor Agali, like Alloy Agu, who are watching for me, looking for players in the local league. Especially for the goalkeepers, for Alloy to bring me goalkeepers from the league."

Young players have always been Rohr's focus in his time as Nigeria coach.

At the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Nigeria had the youngest squad. At the Africa Cup of Nations a year later, the team were the second youngest, and the German says it was deliberate.

With players such as Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze, Francis Uzoho and Wilfred Ndidi growing into leading roles with the team, Rohr says the next step on the ladder is the development of a uniform playing philosophy that cuts across all the national teams.

"I don't know now how the NFF will organize it but there must be a good collaboration between us with under-23, with under-20, with the under-1 -- and even with the women's team. I had a good solidarity with the women's coach before [Thomas Dennerby] but now he is gone.

"This unity [is something] we need to have in our different teams. To go in the same direction, to play with the same philosophy. The philosophy is to play offensive football with good wingers, with quickness with strikers, young players but also experienced players, too.

"We have good players, great players, young players. Now let us have football that plays well with their talent. Let us lay a good foundation from the back, and then go forward quickly to find our wingers. Then I think we have a good chance to go to the World Cup again and do better than the last time.

"We can do also the same for the local team.

"You know they are not playing the Afcon but there is a lot of things to do for them, to get right the playing philosophy the same as the others. But I am not the coach for the local team. The coach was before my assistant, and we had good work together. Now we have to see what happens."

For the here and now, though, Rohr has an immediate concern. The potential fixture congestion that will follow the end of the coronavirus pandemic.

"When you see the calendar which will come, there will be so many games in the second half of the year. And already decisive games for the World Cup will start in the end of the year. The qualification for Afcon, too, will have to finish before.

"So there will be so many games. Next year, I saw the calendar, perhaps we will have around 20 games.

"If we are in the Afcon, and I think we can do it, we will have one or two friendlies to prepare and then I hope seven games again until the finals. Small final and big final, could be nine games. And then you have the World Cup qualifiers; can be 10. A friendly again or two, 11. A lot of matches to come in a small time.

"This is why it is necessary to know everybody, to talk to the players regularly, because there is no time to make new experiences, to make a test or experiments with new players for something like that."

For now though, none of that matters with COVID 19 still in the air.
