Wow no vaccination and cocci drugs??! This ur Cockrells are unbelievable, and saving you lots of money too.can you share some pictures of them? I would love to see the rate of their growth. Please which hatchery did you get it from?

I have 50 right now that are two months and super healthy, and I didn't vaccinate them even once...apart from the occasional multivitamin drugs I sleep in there water, I don't give them anything else. Yea, cockerels eat a lot, but it helps them grow. I will get the contacts of where I get my chicks.

Oh really? And am here vaccinating mine every one to two weeks, my money don finish for multivitamins, typhoid and coccidisis drugs, from what am seeing, Cockrells are more delicate, complicated than broilers. Everyone is blaming me for venturing into Cockrell. (gumboro, lasota, deworming,) and mine eat a lot (thought they said Cockrell doesn't eat much?) consumes 2bags of feed a day. Please can I have the contact of the hatchery that supplies you, and @how much? Thanks very much.

About fowl pox, the place I buy it, they always mark the box as being vaccinated at day old when I buy, so I don't know which type of vaccination they actually give them. And from the day I collect them, I don't give them any other vaccine, and none die...They are always healthy till the end.

You have 300? That's lovely. How many weeks are they?

About feeding, I feed them normal feeds that broilers eat...Starter, Grower, and Finisher Feed. I guess this is where my secret lies. Most pple that rare cockerels mostly just feed them starter, and growers.

Please What and what do you feed them? Did you give them fowl pox vaccine? I have 300 Cockrell and am planning to skip giving them fowl pox, can I risk it?

I feed them for 4 months, not 5 months. And yes, there is demand for any kind of chicken...so, yes, there is demand for cockerels. It might not be like the demand for broilers, but there is demand. I target market women that sell chicken in cages all year round; they prefer cockerels and layers to broilers cos broilers are not as strong. I am still working on how to sell in hundreds...The total cost of feeding and treatment from day old to cockerels have my chickens at N600 each...If I can find a way to sell off a thousand chickens each month for N800, I would be making N200,000 on them. This is what I am looking into now.

You can look more into broiler business, I just prefer this one cos it suits my nature- It is very flexible, and cos I hate losing chickens, and I never have to bury any of my chickens at anytime with cockerels.

Help! I noticed that whenever I feed my fishes at a spot they scamper and rush the feed to the extent that they choke each other and wound themselves. Like yesterday while I was feeding them, they clustered around at one spot, by the time they finished eating, I saw about 5 of the big ones with deep cuts on the head and bodies.. How can I prevent such cannibalism? Will the wounded survive the cuts? I just tire walahi... Since last 3weeks I've been trying to save my fishes from skin peeling, and now this!

I for say! Cuz I've searched for aquafeed all over Ihiala. But wait o! Aquamax better than Multifeed?? and to think I've been underestimating it... Am planning on switching to top feed next month, but might try aquamax since u've confirmed it's "supper"

Hi mercy, the "aqua" you are referring to, is it aquafeed? Aquamax? Aqua Manna? Or Aquaxcel? There are lots of "aqua" in the fish market... Please can u post the bag of the feed ? And also can I Have the contact of the place ur friend bought the feed in Ihiala? Am in Ihiala too.

Can you rank/rate your feeds used so far?

For me, I've used durante, multi and aqua.
Durante is better than aqua which is better than multi.
In my nex breeding, i will stick to aqua cos its cheap and good compared to others.
Durante here is 5600 for 15kg, multi 5000, the aqua I bought is 4600. I don't know if the aqua is that cheap cos of where it was bought. My neighbour and colleague helped me buy it at ihiala. My fish eat the aqua as they eat durante.

My fish will be 4months by month end. I may sell when they finish this bag of feed or may add extra 1month for them.

I just have a small plastic pond which am using to test catfish farming. There is a very very big fish farmer I heard of at ihiala. Heard his workers are Yoruba's from the west. You can ask around and see if he sells fingerlings.

But first thing first, do you have source of water supply?

thanks very much, I ve taken the females to the male (Even though she no gree for am). As for the sex of the weaners, I just went back to see if I can detect their sex, I can't see anything under the weaners apart from their anus, but the mature rabbits organs are pronounced and visible. If someone comes to buy a particular sex from the weaners, I won't be able to tell. Unless there's something am missing.

These are my buck and doe, the buck name is Barry White born on 22nd May, 2014 while the doe is Queen born on 29th July, 2014. She had birth twice but all die because of lack of care from the person I kept them with but now they are with me and just get them this new cage for 10k, good food and livestocks multivitamin as you can see in their water. The feed wont be powder; the feeds are turned into pellets at d feedmill. You can either buy all d ingredients individually and take it to d feedmill for dem to mill it and pelletise it, or u just go to a feedmill with your written composition and dey churn out the feed for u.

If really you are a novice as you said in ur post, i will advice u stick with your floating feeds at least till after ur first batch of fish have been harvested. By dat time, u would av learnt alot in fish farming and u will be better equiped to handle the use of local feeds.
