5. It is essential, in order to avoid misunderstanding or confusion, that all subsequent requests for support be formally made to me by you in writing.

Did ojukwu say anything wrong here?

If gowon could go to Ghana, infront of world leaders sign on paper about aburi accord and renegade in it.

Should ojukwu and victor banjo be making verbal promises about serious matters like this, so that tomorrow someone can say ojukwu told me to do this and that?

Is there anything wrong in this his request?

4. I do not need to remind you that Biafra regards all Yoruba as friends. As such everything should be done, to ensure the minimum force and loss of life are involved in achieving the objective of liberation.

Let us tell ourselves the truth, did ojukwu say anything wrong here? Should the Biafra forces reach the SW and go on a looting, killing and raping spree?

Or because they said the Hausa Fulani forces would be pushed all the way to the river Niger, therefore once they get to kwara they should do to kwara people what Hausa Fulani did to anima people at asaba?

The truth will always be the truth, in history people only celebrate victors, in history the victor is not always right.

(viii) Should our troops arrive and liberate Lagos, the government of the Republic of Biafra reserves the right to appoint a Military administrator for the territory. Such an Administrator will remain in office until a merger of that territory with Yorubaland is effected by Biafran troops.

(ix) As soon as possible after your appointment as the Military Governor of Western Nigeria and separation of that territory from Nigeria, you and I must meet to discuss:

(a) the duration of stay of Biafran troops in your territory;
(b) the areas and subjects of cooperation between the liberated sovereign states of Western Nigeria, or by what name it may call itself, and Biafra.

Lagos at then was not part of the western region, naturally Lagos had to get its own administrator. Ojukwu showed he had no igbo agenda here cause obviously the administrator of Lagos would still be a Yoruba man. If ojukwu wanted to invade Lagos he could hv sent ifeajuna or another igbo man to march towards Lagos with the Biafra army, but he sent one of their own, as he believes that person would do what’s best. And would easily carry the interest of their people at heart. What then did Ojukwu do wrong?

He said him and victor banjo must meet, if he was calling victor banjo to the east and saying he must meet with him at Enugu, u would think he wants to negotiate at a location and position of power. Ojukwu is a person who like such meetings to be held on neutral grounds. This was proven at aburi where it held in Ghana.

In this meeting, won’t the duration of the Biafran army on the west be discussed, or did they come to stay permanently? People who come to an area to stay permanently are an occupation force and ojukwu just proved he wasn’t.

Ojukwu proved himself fair, it would do history a big disservice if an igbo man tried to come up with a name for a Yoruba country, he asked him to come up with a name for the country.

Ojukwu also showed how fair he was in this when despite igbo being the majority tribe in the eastern region the person who came up with the name Biafra was someone from a minority tribe.

Tell me where I lied or where the igbo agenda was in any of this?

[b](iv) Biafran troops will, after the liberation of the Yorubaland, remain in that territory only for as long as we in Biafra consider it necessary for the Yorubas to consolidate their position and sovereignty against any external threat.

(v) On the liberation of the Yorubaland, you will be appointed as the Military Governor of that territory.

(vi) The liberation of Western Nigeria will be a prelude to the liberation of all Yorubas up to the River Niger and the severance of all connections between the West and the North at Jebba.”

I already said it earlier that ojukwu suffered from paranoia, if ifeajuna an igbo like him could be executed by him out of meer suspicion, is it banjo that’s taking a military campaign to his territory, that can get there and decide to do another aburi on ojukwu? His fear isn’t banjo not carrying out the task his fear is, banjo getting to the west and joining the Nigerian forces to attack him.

And his fears were legit. This is a fact.

If he doesn’t appoint victor banjo as military governor of the west , if he succeeded in liberating the west, was it Benjamin adekunle or obasanjo that he doesn’t know, you are expecting him to appoint?

His reason for wanting to push away the Hausa Fulani to as far as the river Niger is to me a defense strategy, if there’s a huge river separating the 2 regions a counter attack would hv been harder. This is purely a military strategy, and anybody reading this would agree with me.

I am going through this with ease, I am trying to figure out the crimes in this letter
Politics › Re: Odumegwu Ojukwu's Letter To Victor Banjo In 1967. by Coldie: 10:18am On Jul 09, 2024
Same you that is saying ojukwu is trying to annex other regions, skipped this where he spelt it out with boldness that:

(ii) The willingness and preparedness of Biafra to assist any part of the former Federation of Nigeria wishing and willing to liberate itself from the Hausa/Fulani domination, does not in anyway whatever imply any inclination on her part to compromise her sovereignty or preserve what remains of the defunct Federation of Nigeria. In other words, our sovereignty and break with Nigeria is irrevocable. Nothing must, therefore be said or done by you or any member of the Liberation Army to give a contrary impression.”

What he means is that the Biafra forces being willing to aid others, doesn’t mean they have any intentions to compromise their sovereignty of not remaining a break away nation.

If they had annexation in mind, if after they liberated Midwest region, y didn’t they annex it at once?

Confusedlady I ask you?

Yorubaland on the following clear conditions:-

(i) You will have nothing to do with the Military Administrator in the Mid-West Territory during your sojourn there prior to your move to the West.

Ojukwu is in a state of war, his mind is suffering paranoia, there are many cases where promises are made and were completely broken, we haven’t talked about the promises broken at aburi, let’s talk about during the soldiers transfer agreement, where soldiers of northern origin were to be sent to kaduna and then Lagos while soldiers of eastern origin were to be sent to Lagos then the east, east is very small so the moment the soldiers crossed eastern borders they were free. But the moment eastern soldiers in the train to Lagos, the moment the soldiers in it heard that their brothers have crossed the east they descended on all of them.

Ojukwu suffers paranoia to the extent that guys like Emmanuel ifeajuna was executed by him cause he feared they wanted to topple him. Y then are u using his paranoid state to say it’s a form of igbo agenda?

2. Sharing.our belief that the people of Yorubaland have a right to live a life of equality and self-respect and justice free of domination and dictatorship from any quarter, you have both identified with the cause of the Biafra struggle for survival and expressed your determination to see the people of Yorubaland freed from Hausa/Fulani domination.

We, the people of Biafra, for our part are willing and have decided to give you and the people of Yorubaland every assistance to achieve your aim.

Like I explained above, didn’t everything ojukwu say eventually come to past? Weren’t the signs there?

Where the military have a ranking system, after aguiyi ironsi was killed the person that was next in ranking was a Yoruba man, but they jumped over him and put a junior officer from the north in power.

“ 1. For some time now, you and I have been discussing the circumstances that have led to the current and inevitable disintegration of what was the Federation of Nigeria. We have been fully convinced that the aim of the Hausa/Fulani complex has ever been, and will ever remain, the total domination of every other part of what was known as the Federation of Nigeria. It is impossible to forget that the crisis which led to the army take over in January 1966, the coup of the Northern soldiers led by Gowon in July 1966, the wholesale and indiscriminate massacre of the people of what is now Biafra- and, to a less degree, the people of the Mid-West and West, including the Yorubas, were all the direct result of Hausa/Fulani attempt to subjugate and use as tools, the gallant people of Western Nigeria namely the Yorubas. We do not need to remind ourselves of the heavy losses in life and property suffered by the Yoruba people in their fight for justice and freedom during 1965.”

Ojukwu accused the Hausa/fulani of a plot to dominate Nigeria. Nigerians looking at alot that happened down the line, I am not a tribalist, I don’t blame Hausa/fulani people, neither am I accusing them of having any agenda. But let us all be the judge of between what ojukwu said between then and now, didn’t everything ojukwu say later happen, did the Hausa/fulani eventually dominate Nigeria?
Didn’t it get to the point that many government parastatals and offices not just in the south but in Nigeria as a whole, Hausa language became to lingua Franca, from customs, to the Nigerian army, to immigration, to nimasa to CBN etc.

If a Hausa/fulani man and a southerner join the Nigerian army the same time at the same rank, give it 20years and ask their rankings, do they have same ranking in 20years regardless of their efforts?

Nigerians did ojukwu lie or finally what he was saying was the truth?

“ It is impossible to forget that the crisis which led to the army take over in January 1966, the coup of the Northern soldiers led by Gowon in July 1966, the wholesale and indiscriminate massacre of the people of what is now Biafra- and, to a less degree, the people of the Mid-West and West, including the Yorubas, were all the direct result of Hausa/Fulani attempt to subjugate and use as tools, the gallant people of Western Nigeria namely the Yorubas. Did ojukwu lie in this part, coup or no coup, in Nigeria military decisions are made independently from civilians, weren’t southerners massacred for things they know nothing of? In 1965 didn’t the Yoruba and SW suffer injustice that saw awolowo get imprisoned and charged for treason unjustly?

You say you can’t fight and insult other tribes.

Is it the fault of igbos that certain tribes are always coming for us? In 2023 elections the oba of benin said sth about Lagos being part of benin, SW ronus went on an onslaught, there was a bit of exchanges between benin people and SW people, smhw benin people in apc had to do damage control, they switched the whole matter into the common enemy.

They started spreading propaganda that Igbos are fanning the embers of discord on the problem just to get Biafra. Which we know is a big lie, I stopped using naira land for some time cause it’s a faceless forum, if u want to see where it’s happening go to twitter.

Anybody who saw that Yoruba vs benin matter last year knows igbos were no way the cause, also knows how igbos preferred and were warned not to interfere but were surprised about how we got dragged into it despite how much we tried to mind our business.

Another one was right now there’s friction arising between ronu and northerners, it stemmed from a northern girl bringing light to the bad roads in Ogun state, ronus are on the onslaught again. Igbos minded our lanes, but to your surprise you would be surprised how Igbos will be dragged into it and be blamed for it.

We keep getting dragged into matters we know nothing about and blamed and same u is asking how we are always fighting back.

“ Who want to forcefully install their half son who speaks their speak their language but can't speak his father language but speak fluently his mother own as governor”

Nigerians we were all alive in 2023, is what he is saying true or lie as usual, in 2023 between Apc and Lp who tried to forcefully install anybody into power? Who was attacking people in Lagos state, who was shooting people in Lagos state?

Y on earth would someone say a Lagos state indigene who has a mother from another tribe should not be allowed to contest for governorship, his mother is from another tribe, but someone who came all the way from 5 states away should be allowed to contest.

In 2023 Labour Party at first opened its arms to everyone, igbos were not a majority in LP, neither was Peter obi supporters at first. When they started joining LP they met people there, some Yorubas, leading up to the pools, there was controversy where they would all walk together and when they were trying to reach a certain level of progress certain people for certain region would break away and say: we have seen the light and it’s in Apc, we and our supporters have therefore moved to Apc, you would say ok let’s move forward. It’s just like what we saw with Doyin okupe, who after he resigned from Labour Party he retweeted a bigotry tweet calling a tribe products of baby factory. Was he forced out?

No? Tomorrow if sth happens they would say obidients drive everybody away, but when u ask them how, they get angry. That’s simply the script. But u people keep lying and projecting.

There can be many things am not sure of but you see this ur comment, it’s filled with many lies. Even if there might be truth or not in it, once there are lies, it makes whatever u say seem suspicious or less trustworthy.

I am alive and very active on social media, and I can say this with extreme confidence that you lie.

Most Nigerians seeing this post can judge for themselves, during the election period obidients were trying to make bridges with lots of people, during the elections period, there was very minimal tribalism from the SE against others. Why would they employ tribalism when their candidate was obviously marketable.
Anybody who says I lie, should tell me the form of tribalism igbos employed during 2023 elections, I put this out to everyone.

I can say the people who employed tribalism in 2023 was Apc, Apc didn’t know how to attack Peter obi, apart from the pastor oyedepo saga that happened, later, Apc had absolutely nothing on Peter obi. First they used to try to fact check absolutely everything he was saying, it went to them referring to him as a liar, to them absolutely lying against him.

I remember when Peter obi went t the north, the level of scrutiny he received was much more than what Atiku or even Tinubu got, it was as if the rest were there for paddy paddy treatment, while Peter obi was there for total grilling, one of the major scrutinies came from el rufai who said, during 2013 elections period he visited Anambra and Peter obi restricted his movement, he was saying this with so much excitement and enthusiasm not just from him, u could see it even in apc camp and Tinubu in particular, cause after he finished they burst into sm kind of laugh.

When Peter obi replied El rural, he said in 2013 he was the governor under apga another political party that was different from the one at the federal level, he said he has no control over security apparatus in his state, that it’s controlled by the federal by the federal, that apart from that the security heads then we’re northerners, if he was responsible, they are their brothers they can go and ask if he Peter obi was the one who told them to restrict el rufai movement. He also said it’s normal for movement to be restricted during elections, that even him was restricted to his LG during elections. They all went quiet after it.

When they did everything above and it didn’t work, their last attempt was tribalism and bigotry, Nigerians know the answer to this, when u ask which tribe promoted tribalism and bigotry, go and twitter, they are trying to redeem their image from the damages a loud minority of their people have done to this once great people that were loved by everyone.
They went from labelling Peter obi ipob, to calling obi supporters ipob, to the extent that they started calling anybody who doesn’t support apc ipob, to the extent that they brought total division and tribalism to Lagos state, telling other Nigerians to go back to Anambra, it didn’t stop their. On their official twitter accounts they started a full blown character assassination against the tribe Peter obi came from, this here is a fact. Imagine where official government handles were following tribal bigotry pages and liking them. You people have lied and lied so much that u are now trying to gaslight and project your lies upon others.

We haven’t even forgotten what was done to GRV, I can still go on, but you put up too many lies, I am going to debunk and expose all your lies.

Nigerians below is one of them, an appointee in Lagos state government not just a regular citizen insulting people on the internet, a Lagos state government appointee is involving himself in bigotry. But yeah let’s blame obidients.

I have commended Awolowo, it’s time for me to commend Yakubu Gowon.

Yakubu Gowon is a good man, it is by Gods timing that what happened in 1966 happened and it’s by Gods timing that someone like yakubu gowon happened to be in the position he is at the time he was in it.

Yakubu gowon, at a time when things were going south, when there was killings everywhere he tried his best to stop the bloodshed, he called out many times to his northern brethren to stop the killings.

There was some firm resistance against him, especially with him being a Christian and a northern minority, him being the head of state as at then could have saved us.

I just imagine if it was Murtala Muhammad that was the head of state at the time the Biafra war happened. Maybe I won’t be here typing this, maybe the igbo tribe would have gone extinct, maybe we would be a tribe people of now would hear only in stories.

I commend you for the work you've done in this thread but your stance on Awolowo is completely wrong in my opinion. The starvation policy didn't let the war end quickly. It was a very slow and painful death for those who perished that way. Many were children. I know of a woman who lost six of her nine children in that time (the three who survived were the youngest — the older children were giving them what little food they had).

To ask people to say sorry to the man who masterminded that is absolutely horrific. He was evil — plain and simple — and if he had any morals whatsoever then he would have apologised to the Igbos for what he did.
Sorry. I also lost relatives.

But we igbos need to build bridges, one way of doing this is in a world where people are hell bent on hating you, is to appreciate people for the little things they do for you.

You are making my arguments. How do you then account for the top Military Officers officers of Northern and Western lineage that were executed yet, Agonyi Iroson escaped. Man you are laughable.
This is the position of the Igbos that conflagrate the whole situation.
We are not saying anybody is innocent, we don’t have the full details, but am telling you what lead to those guys being the direct victims of the January 66 boys.

Aguiyi ironsi could have been an opportunist who used the opportunity to seize power.

That apart, from what I read and researched, most of the people who died from the coup knew there were rumours of an impending coup, but didn’t beleive anybody had the guts to do it.

Lol. I can understand why the war. Your argument is seriously annoying
You and I know, war was the last thing the east wanted?

But I ask you, what other options did the east have?

Our people were being massacred and still being massacred and nothing was been done.

So what were we supposed to do?

Stay there and wait until the people killing us get tired of killing us?

I love this
Even though there are some inconsistencies
But a great analysis.
Though it's still unbelievable that majority igbo officers seek to put a yorubaman in position, but its quite possible.

I like the way you admitted mistakes and apportion blame , fair enough

But , it's still an igbo coup because as you yourself admit, no single igbo leader was killed , if you were not igbo, you will feel exactly how others feel
Tell me the inconsistencies, I want to address it.

I want people to know the truth. One day somebody who really wants to know the truth would see this

The actions of the first coup is why till today in Nigeria, especially struggles that cut across regions and geopolitical zones, killing is the last thing anybody ever does. They can keep you imprison for as much cause they know power is transient, but no one ever resorts to killings that easily.

That’s y even with what’s happening with Nnamdi Kanu they can’t kill him.

That’s y in future coups they hardly ever killed the head of state. Or leaders.

The major time a leader outside 1966 was killed was Murtala Muhammad, and I can tell you y I am not surprised he died. The karma of what he did in asaba came for him.

Are you dis Daft, read the article here, and still call it lie ...your ppl instigated the Northerners to attack them, and u were killing them in the East too....is that why you are still killing them in the East till date in the name of Biafra huh

The Igbos will never admit they were wrong, so no need opening thread Upandan..
Here is another lie:

“ This triggered the first inter-ethnic crises in the North. Igbos fled to the East, and returned only later under guarantee of their safety by president Ironsi. Some say mischievous secessionist Igbos orchestrated the pogroms to get their people home”

Imagine where someone is blaming Igbos for the progrom killings in the north, that Igbos orchestrated the killings of thousands of not other people our own people not just once but twice, so that secession can occur. Just imagine the level of gaslighting lol.

Why CAN'T you read well? 😏

The OP already explained that Balewa, Ahmadu Bello,Akintola and Okotie-Eboh were all Killed because they are Actual Cause of the Unrest we had in Nigeria then.😒

You expect the Coupists to Kill Azikiwe who held no Important office? undecided
Or Michael Okpara who had no Business with anything at the Federal level? sad
It’s surprising.

Right now if today today a coup like that was to happen again, people be asking y they did not kill Peter obi?

It’s crazy

The obvious fact is what you just penned down... It was even explained further by A.Ademoyega in his book Why We Struck
I have never read that book, this is my personal findings from deep research.

People are saying but Michael okpara want killed, Michael okpara had nothing to do with the western crisis, he had nothing to do with the violence in the west. Y then should they kill him.
