Yes i know. We will be selling them of after 4 weeks. Thats why the title of my thread says brooding.

- Putting feed on the bare litter material for day old chics to "snack" on was and is a poultry practice that defies logic. If those birds were not properly vaccinated from the hatchery, you'd have had more deaths for that very mistake.

- Tray feeders are no longer advisable for brooding. The idea of chics stooling in their feed and pecking in it, is partly responsible for early coccidiosis. There are modified chic feeders that are price friendly.

- Even if electricity cannot be afforded, kerosene lamps are bad for chics. They're very contributory to Chronic respiratory disease. Small solar lights are serving that purpose now.

- You're wasting medications with the amount of water you're using for your brooding. One drinker of water is enough to meet any round of watering for all 200 chics. A tablespoon of medicine in a drinker, stirred, then shared into other drinkers can serve the purpose, since the water gets replaced three times daily.

- Your vaccination process is a bit worrisome, especially looking at that black container you're mixing it in, which is the same you use to wash drinkers. You're setting yourself up for fowl typhoid, and believe me, that's one illness that 80percent of inorganic veterinary medicines cannot treat.

- Agreeably, heat is important to regulate their temperature, but be certain to properly ventilate that brooding pen whenever the sun starts to come up. Circulation of that "smokey" heat not only causes CRD, but hampers proper growth.

You seem to know a lot about poultry bizz but i can tell you that my mum started this business when she was still backing me and stopped when i was in ss2 to venture into other things. she was very successful while at it.

-If you look well youd see a led bulb in their house.
Those lamps you see there are not cheap. It cost 12k to get the both of them. The lamps were bought the evening the chicks arrived so It was a hasty decision.

- ogbeni you are wrong. One drinker is not enough for 200 birds. Haba !

-you need to be calming down bros. We didn't use the black bucket for mixing the vaccine. We used the white one.

- we always ventilate their house when necessary.

Yeah it's quite nice but I think you really need to consider feeding costs before deciding on the number of chicks you need to brood so as avoid stories that touches the heart. From what I could observe from the above data, the competition amongst them is really high, within a while now they'll start having insufficient feed supply and that will really affect their growth and health. I'm brooding mine too but the quantity is just like half of what you stocked, but they are doing very fine, no death recorded so far and they are 12 days old.

Consumable size in six weeks ? That is not proper. Brooding alone is 3-4 weeks

They are warm blooded so its better to keep them warm.

They do need ventilation but that would be when they grow older.

Do you know what happens when you starve your broilers of food for too long ?

They begin to eat themselves... Literally.

They pick a target chick and pick its skin till breaks and blood starts oozing out, then they guzzle it down like vampires

We had an incident today so we had to quickly apply Gv on the affected bird.

Later, we found out that they picked on the same bird again and feasted on it.

we had to apply Gv on quite a number of them so they wouldn't be able to identify that particular one.

Broilers !!!

We gave them food and mixed multi vitamins, and super tylosin in their water

Well this is quite easy. You can tell by looking at their very obvious aesthetics.

The male:

They usually have a protruded behind
Their tail is usually short

The female:
Their behind is not as protruded as the male They have longer tails

Their cough is almost gone...praise the lord somebody

This is a big deal because people don't like buying birds that have cough.

In addition to thier anthoval medicine, we bought super tylosin 20/20 and it worked wonders (see pic below)

Yesterday i said we are about to stop buying charcoal for them, well, we went ahead to buy another half bag for them ....they still need heat.

We gave them food and mixed only super tylosin in their water (dont ask me why)

We are about to stop putting charcoal for them.

We gave them food and water with their normal mixture of drugs.

Day 9/day 10 update

After the day of their vaccination, we continued giving them water with their normal mixture of drugs.

They are eating a lot now.
We feed them morning, afternoon and night.

Can you imagine that they've finished two bags of feed, going to three in less than two weeks ?

Ive been doing a lot of research about it since i went on Upwork and obseved that most devops, kubernates, and docker jobs dont get a lot of bids unlike web dev jobs, and the pay is usually huge.

I was thinking of doing data analysis but almost everybtom dick and harry is doing it couple with the fact that its hard to get remote data jobs, and even data jobs in nigeria are not much.

I then decided to start downloading web dev tutorials today( sold my 0.2 ltc to get #10,000)before i remembered that i have a video of travis media recommending newbies get into tech via dev ops.

Ive been learning python since February and i was delighted when i found out its one of the recommended languages to learn while going the dev ops route

How we gave them vaccine today.

We put one and half big eva of water inside a bucket and mixed a sachet of cowbell milk and the vaccine inside.

They finished it in less than 20 mins.

We waited for about an hour before we gave them ordinary water and food

Day 8
Today makes it a week since the birds arrived so we got them vaccinated.

The name of the vaccine we gave them is called Gomboro. It costs #1,100

Giving your birds vaccine can be very, very dangerous if you're not careful. Like, it can actually kill them.

Here are some tips to your birds vaccine the right way:
1. Open the bottle of vaccine inside the bucket of water. (See pic below)

2. deprive your chicks of water the night before. This makes them so thirsty that they drink the vaccine in a short period of time.

3. Its advisable to give your birds vaccine in the morning before the sun makes their house hot.

4. Keep heat away from their house during vaccination. If you can, open their doors for proper ventilation.

5. Their vaccine should be administered in a Maximum of 2 hrs. Wether they finish or not, one its two hours, remove it. (This is why you need to starve them)

6. Dont pour the vaccine on the ground when administering. This could lead to overdose and then kill your birds.

7. Dispose left over water outside your house. including the one you used to wash the drinkers after giving the the vaccine

8. After giving them the vaccine, wait for like an hour before giving them ordinary water (no drugs inside)

Not really, after acquiring the skills I went on a break (school) for more than 6months I just resumed back trying to set up my portfolio and apply for jobs or gigs. Aside that I have also gotten freelance work from Twitter as I am active there.
