PoliticsRe: PDP Threaten Nigerians Against Rejecting Jonathan On Saturday by Collynzo419: 11:50pm On Mar 24, 2015
Clerverly:
Anyone still in doubt that jonathan/PDP and their cronies are jittery over the possible outcome of Saturday? Just stay tuned to NTA and Ait, there has been a TV commercial called BITTER TRUTH starring Saint Obi, who threatens the peace of Nigeria, if goodluck jonathan was not re-elected.

Among the threats:
1. Resumption of militancy in the Niger Delta
2. Massob taking over Igbo Land
3. Cessation of Crude Oil Production from Niger Delta
and other useless, self defeating threats.
My question is, why this desperation by Jonathan?
Waste of time and effort. cheesy

Nigerians have decided to swap a corrupt, weak, inefficient, wicked, and dangerous drunkard for a 5-Star General who is incorruptible, determined and compassionate.

Nigeria will have a new President Elect this time next week.

Jonathanians, TANoids brace up for change.

Jonathan must be an idi.ot not to know that ALL PDP Northern governors are quietly but actively working for a Buhari victory.

The PDP chairman has given up hope, he tried his best but he is not a stupid man. Muazu is a smart man.

When you have the most influential Northern governor- Lamido enlisting the positive qualities of Buhari and never criticizes him, you know there is trouble!

How can the Northern governors be loyal to him when his wife calls their children- 'Born throwaway shildren'?

How can the Northern governors be loyal to him when he has sponsored newspaper articles to desecrate the memory of dead northern ex-presidents of Nigeria?

Different cultures, languages, backgrounds and ideologies BUT we are strong as a nation.

I admire Nigeria as a country and Nigerians as a collective unit.

Nigeria will be the new China of the world in the next 10 years- quote me! March 28 will usher in the beginning of change

By the way, I love the picture below. It reminds me of how General Buhari is putting Jonathan in his place!

Disturbing news

We will not allow Boko Haram to set this country on Fire!

Boko Haram is operating successfully because of the inability of this government to deal with them decisively! So much corruption in the government and they do not care about the ordinary Nigerian. Jonathan will go to bed tonight in peace while some Nigerians will be weeping and mourning.

Over 300 girls missing and yet another 400+ abducted??

We need change in this country.

This is no more sentimental politics but a realistic assessment of our situation.
PoliticsBoko Haram Abducts 400+ Women In Borno State by Collynzo419(op): 9:24pm On Mar 24, 2015
(Reuters) - Boko Haram militants have kidnapped more than 400 women and children from the northern Nigerian town of Damasak that was freed this month by troops from Niger and Chad, residents said on Tuesday.

There was no immediate official confirmation of the figure, but the Islamist group has previously carried out mass kidnappings. Boko Haram's abduction last April of nearly 300 schoolgirls in the region stirred international outrage and drew global attention to the group's six-year insurgency.

"They took 506 young women and children (in Damasak). They killed about 50 of them before leaving," a trader called Souleymane Ali told Reuters in the town. "We don’t know if they killed others after leaving, but they took the rest with them."

Troops from Niger and Chad last week found the bodies of at least 70 people in an apparent execution site under a bridge leading out of Damasak, where the streets remain strewn with debris and burnt-out cars after the fighting.

Ali said his wife and three of his daughters were among those seized.

"Two of them were supposed to get married this year. (Boko Haram) said 'They are slaves so we’re taking them because they belong to us'," he said.

Mohamed Ousmane, another trader, said the militants took his two wives and three of their children.

A 40-year-old resident who gave her name as Fana said fighters had rounded up captives in the main mosque before taking them out of town. She said she saved her two children by hiding them in her house.

Boko Haram wants to carve out a caliphate in northern Nigeria. A sharp increase in violence forced a delay in planned elections last month in Africa's most populous country.

Nearly a year after Boko Haram shocked the world by kidnapping more than 200 schoolgirls at Chibok, the radical Islamist militia appears to have struck again with another mass kidnapping in northern Nigeria.

Boko Haram has abducted between 400 and 500 women and children in the northeastern Nigerian town of Damasak, according to residents and a military commander quoted by international news media on Tuesday.

When FFK opens his mouth, all you can expect are lies, deceit and drug-fueled comments.

It is clear that the inner circle of the Jonathan government has been infiltrated. The patriotic Nigerians in the Presidency pass relevant information to the media and the opposition parties.

-2 weeks before the postponement of elections in Febuhari, the PDP said the election date was sacrosanct. The media raised alarm that PDP was planning to postpone it, FFK denied it- what happened?

-2 days before General Buhari's presidential speech at Chatham House, the media raised alarm that the PDP was planning to use illegal immigrants and miscreants in the UK to protest at the event- FFK denied it- what happened?

-Jonathan called the King of Morocco to solicit for support, the King dismissed him. The media reported it and FFK denied it- what happened?

The PDP keeps planning but the God of Nigeria keeps disappointing them.

Nigerians are ready for change and we will use our democratic rights to remove this wicked government.

Change. Change. Change!

PoliticsRe: Is There Some Hidden Agendas? by Collynzo419:
jerusalem101:
[s]As media practitioners and consultants, we used to do one thing while analysing national issues: who is commenting and who is not. What are they saying, what are they not. The aim is to see if an issue initially presented as a national one is actually an ethnic agenda. It is in this context that I have been doing an analysis of the Buhari presidential challenge and I asked: WHERE ARE NORTHERN VOICES? It has been a 'research' I have been doing since January till this year. Granted that Buhari campaigned in the North and pulled massive crowds but where are Northern opinion leaders? On mainstream and social media, the vehemence of the Buhari push is being spear- headed by Yorubas! In all his official engagements, within and outside the country, check the pictures: you wont find a Northerner behind him. The odd men out apart from South- westerners are John Oyegun and Rotimi Amaechi. Yet you see Tinubu, Fashola, Fayemi, Amosun, Lai Mohammed, Mamora and co. I may be proved wrong, but only once have I seen Tambuwal in photo with Buhari! Kwankwaso has quietly withdrawn himself! Atiku hardly talks even when his boy runs Buhari's media organ of the campaign. Wammako, Shettima, el-Rufai don't talk. While Obasanjo is talking every day, Babangida, Abdusalami, Ciroma, Coomasie, Lawal Kaita hardly say anything. Is there something going on? I spoke with a Northern senior friend of mine from Sokoto State who used to head a federal government electronic media arm on why the North is not giving the general the media and moral support required, here are his words: "We want power to return to the North but it seems you Yorubas have a hidden agenda with the way your people are pushing Buhari and turning it into a Yoruba crusade." I prodded him further but he politely declined to say more. I continued this 'research' on Facebook. Whenever someone posts a pro- Buhari or anti-GEJ material, I also usually do a demographic analysis of 'likes' and comments and again, I discovered that it is mostly 75-80% Yoruba thing. Even the Remove-Jega- don't-remove-Jega campaign is PURELY a South-west 'headache'. If you doubt, do your own media survey. Does it mean the feelers are true that most Northern leaders are uncomfortable with the way Tinubu has 'approximated' the change 'struggle'? Are they aware of any agenda some of us are not? I asked these questions because no matter the noise we are making here, high-wire, high stake politicking is going on at the highest level. Good day!!![/s]
Are you sure you are a media practitioner? During your training, did they not emphasize the importance of paragraphs when writing?

Your analysis is not only idiotic, it is a daft and incoherent body of meaningless tripe.

All APC governors are strongly in support of Buhari and actively campaign for him in their respective states. Rotimi Amaechi is the DG of the campaign office so he is always visible everywhere the General goes, Oyegun is the Chairman of APC and Fayemi is the head of the policy team which also explains their highly visibility in campaigns and town hall meetings.

The Yoruba politicians you have mentioned- Tinubu, Mamora , SIA, Fashola are always present when he campaigns in the SW, have you ever seen them in northern campaigns? It is same for the Igbo APC leaders like Ngige, Okorocha et al. They are always present during campaigns in the SE. Atiku, Kwankwanso, Tambuwal are always present when he campaigns in the North. The only time you see all the APC leaders together is when they are campaigning in key states like Lagos, Imo, Rivers and in a few days, they will all assemble in Abuja.

Today, Buhari was in Bauchi and Atiku was present. The north is 70% in support of Buhari, in some states, the support is more than 90%.

It is true that Yorubas are actively supporting Buhari but for you to suggest that it Yorubas are the main supporters of Buhari is stu.pid. He has national support and appeal. That will be demonstrated by the results on Sunday

This is the part that made me laugh the hardest.

Can you tell us how you did this phanthom demographic analysis to determine that 75%-80% of likes for Pro-Buhari comments are from Yorubas?

You are a fake media practitioner, a Jonathanian making things up because you can see that GEJ will loose the election.

There is no need for me to state that majority of Nigerians want change!

It is the first time in the history of the Nigerian state that an American president has directly addressed Nigerians in the run up to a presidential election. The reason is clear, the international community expects the Nigerian electorate to vote for change and take our rightful place in the committee of nations.

After-all, America knows

All we need to do is to use our PVC to remove this corrupt and wicked administration on March 28.

It is widely acknowledged that this woman is unlettered and educationally deficient but this is becoming a joke!

She has over 60 special assistants. What are they doing to help her articulate her thoughts without embarrassing herself and her corrupt husband?

1. Buhari lived in Dodan Barracks as head of state and not Aso-Rock

2. Buhari faced similar national security challenges as her corrupt husband but unlike Jonathan, he successfully destroyed the threat of maitatsine- he did this efficiently without giving stupid excuses.

3. It is not Buhari's fault that the women she knew during Buhari's reign 'stayed in the kitchen'. Nigerian women have been making exploits since the birth of this great nation.

4. Buhari sent corrupt politicians to prison and made them pay for their crimes- that is what Nigerians want. Nigeria will be a better country today if politicians know that there are consequences for corrupt practices. Nwobodo stole money from Nigerians and rightly went to prison for his crimes.

5. There is no evidence that Jonathan has empowered women in Nigeria. Just because his corrupt administration is composed of corrupt women like Diezani and NOI does not mean that the life of the average Nigerian woman is better. Women are suffering and hungry in Nigeria

6. This woman should campaign using the achievements of her husband instead of calling people names and insulting General Buhari and other opponents.

It is too late now. General Buhari will be her President- Elect this time next week.

[s]If by chance Buhari wins this election, extremely hard times lies ahead for this country.

Definitely, the creeks will go haywire again, Buhari will send the troops to the creeks and together they will set the oil facilities ablaze.

While these persists, the oil producing companies will simply withdraw their personnel from the volatile region and all foreign investment will seize in all sectors. And even if the troops kill 90% of the militants, it will take just one militant, a dynamite and just one location along the multi- kilometre trunklines to continue to wreck havoc.

Fast forward to 2019, if we remain one country and without a civil war,, we will be an economic wreck with no allocations and salaries, no capital projects, no hope with dollar exchanging for 400 naira and we are worse off than we were in 2015.

Cos the truth is that without crude proceeds for now, Nigeria is finished.

And then, we'll be screaming another 'Change' because we would have learnt a bitter lesson in the hands of the Fulanis, Tinubu and Saraki. And then we will ask.... Why were we this silly?

And before you quote me, make sure you outline in clear terms how you or Buhari will avert this obvious calamity staring us in the face

Only last week, they creek boys seem to have resumed activities by kidnapping at Yoho facility operated by Exxonmobil and have shut in 80KBD already. Are we ready for this for the next 4 years?

The entire world stands to benefit from a crisis in the Niger delta. Its not a coincidence that USA who abandoned us at the height of bokoharam is busy shouting for change in govt . When Buhari becomes president (future impossible tense), he will raise global oil prices' - low and behold, all Nigeria's economic woes will be gone within three months.

Simple Economics.
No sir.

You cannot make such a simplistic statement. Buhari has always insisted that plugging holes in corrupt practices will lead to savings. That is a valid position sir.

Transparecy International (as of 2012) estimates that corruption in the oil industry alone has cost Nigeria $35 b

http://www.transparency.org.uk/corruption/statistics-and-quotes/the-cost-to-business

Alajazera estimates $100b since 2008

Disturbingly, UPI estimates that Nigeria looses $1 billion a month to corruption in the oil industry

http://www.upi.com/Business_News/Energy-Resources/2012/10/25/Nigeria-loses-billions-in-oil-gas-theft/77851351181960/

I agree with General Buhari that nipping those corruption loopholes in the bud will save Nigeria a lot of money that can be used in more ethical ways for national development.

The outgoing administration has failed in curtailing corrupt practices, in fact they have encouraged it. It will stop from May 28 sir

Kagame:
The answer to your question is simple.

Nigeria is a mono-economy and vey vulnerable to dutch disease.Partly the same situation with other downgraded countries.

The present goverment has taken some bold steps to diversify the economy, but these steps take time to come good. Some have produced quick wins and instant results;its not a days job basically.

I agree that the government should have had enough fiscal buffers to withstand price shocks in the oil market, but thats a story for another day.
I respect the civility in which you responded to my questions but I respectfully disagree.

This administration has severally claimed that they would diversify the Nigerian economy , turning it from a mono-economy highly dependent on oil revenues. In fact, they have used the diversification line as a campaign tool claiming that Nigeria has turned the corner.

-This was a promise by GEJ in 2013 to diversify the economy

http://www.punchng.com/editorials/jonathans-economic-diversification-statement/

- In 2014, he also promised to diversify the economy

http://www.informationng.com/2014/12/falling-oil-prices-jonathan-calls-for-diversification-of-nigerias-economy-says-agric-sector-remains-vital.html

-We are now in 2015, end of first quarter and yet more promises.

http://leadership.ng/business/399144/oil-prices-shall-diversify-economy-2015-jonathan

I might come across as a cynic but once beaten, twice shy as they say. But as of February 2015, Nigeria still earns 90% of its export earnings and 70% of government revenue:

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-02-18/nigeria-central-bank-shuts-auction-window-as-naira-rates-widen

Like I said earlier, the Jonathan government was lucky to inherit a budget surplus and a robust forex reserve. That position is now history because of misappropriation of funds + inefficient financial and budgetary misallocation.

Someone has to take the blame and it is the President and C-in-C.

Bro,you have to request for a rating before you can be rated.

Some countries are graded as NR (Not rated) ,what does that mean ? It means the country has not requested to be rated or there could be insufficient information to carry out a rating.

Countries like libya and mali have no rating, even Namibia and a host of others.

Bros its not all about politics, most oil producing countries are affected by the downgrade.
Bro, the fact that countries have to make request to be rated is largely immaterial.

The reality is Nigeria has obviously requested to be rated by these agencies and there is a financial and economic reason for this; the ability to raise funds/capital internationally. The fact is this- Nigeria has been downgraded, you cannot argue that since most oil producing nations have been downgraded then it is not problematic. I have given examples of oil-producing countries that have not been downgraded and are rated by S & P.

Ecuador has a rating of B+ (remains unchanged)

Qatar has a rating of AA

UAE has a rating of Aaa (Moodys)

In addition, there are several other oil producing countries unaffected by this downgrade exercise by S and P. Examples are:

1. Kuwait- AA

2. China- AA-

3. Mexico- A

4. Brazil- BB

and most importantly 5. Egypt, a country facing far more political challenges than Nigeria and yet was not downgraded.

In sum, why was Nigeria part of the cohort downgraded? Where did we go wrong?

Olodo!
You think S &P rating is a free service? Boy ,you have to subscribe before you can be rated!
And now listen again, almost all oil producing countries were downgraded , Saudi Arabia inclusive.
Am not talking politics,am talking economics.
Well you are not informed. You need to read more.

S & P and other rating agencies do not rate countries based on the subscription of the nations , their economic and financial analysis/projections is essentially for the consumption of creditors and investors. A country's rating allows investors to carry out a risk assessment of the particular sovereign state.

I have mentioned 3 oil producing nations that were not downgraded- Qatar, UAE, Ecuador among others. What are they doing differently? Why is their case different?

Why is the country highly dependent on oil revenue even when this outgoing government is claiming to have diversified the economy?

Not just Nigeria.

All oil producing countries under their radar was downgraded too ; Russia ,Angola,Venezuela etc.

Its expected, due to the current volatility in the crude oil market ,added to the fact that the dollar got stronger.
That is false.

S & P assesses all countries, so there is nothing like specific countries 'under their radar'.

How can he be claiming to transform this country if it is not reflected in the effective economic management of the nation. How come countries like Qatar, UAE, Ecuador were not downgraded?

Enough of the excuses!

Another 'fresh air' milestone delivered by this incompetent outgoing administration.

Jonathan was in charge of this country when oil prices rose to record levels with Nigeria making huge foreign earnings from the sale of crude oil. He presided over the callous mismanagement of these earnings, with massive corruption and embezzlement in all ministries and parastatals under his command. He enriched himself at the expense of the Nigerian public and their generations unborn.

In saner climes, he would have honorably resigned and voluntarily handed himself to the police for investigation and prosecution. Yet he wants to rule over this country for another 4 years.
PoliticsRating Agency-standards And Poor’s Downgrades nigeria’s Economy by Collynzo419(op): 8:05pm On Mar 22, 2015
Standards and Poor’s (S&P) an International rating Agency on Friday said that the Nigerian government fiscal policies in response to fall in global oil price were “proactive and ambitious”.
This was disclosed in a statement Paul Nwabuikwu, spokesperson to the Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, in Abuja.
It said that the rating organisation in its latest rating of Nigeria’s economy downgraded it from BB- to B+.
The downgrading was attributed to the decline in oil price in the seven months which affected external position and external vulnerability of the country.
It, however, identified the coming general elections and the potential under performance
in oil production as possible negative factors.
“Nigeria is one of many oil producing countries downgraded by S&P due to the impact of the steep drop in global oil prices on their economies,” it said.
It further noted that it based its decision on significant political risk arising from the coming elections as well as the impact of insurgency in the North East.
The Agency put annual real GDP growth of the country at five per cent
of the fall in oil prices.
“This is slightly higher than the 4.8 per cent projected by the IMF and is quite robust by current global standards,” it said.
According to the statement, the GDP growth is being driven by the non-oil sectors of the economy.

Over the last 2 months, the PDP has embarked on a negative crusade--casting aspersions on the person of General Buhari, sponsoring false stories about Buhari/ APC leadership through their proxies like (Hope for Nigeria) etc. The campaign by the PDP has not been issue based, rather they have been using politicians such as Fayose who has spent over N100 Million on newspaper adverts to declare Buhari dead, sick etc, yet the popularity of Buhari continues to skyrocket.

It will be folly on the part of APC and General Buhari to participate in this charade of a debate, conducted by cronies of this corrupt administration. General Buhari has made his stance and policies clearly known to Nigerians through the APC Manifesto, numerous lectures, town hall meetings with the Organised Private Sector, Women associations, Youth groups and NGOs.
