Business / Re: CAN Plans Christian Banking After Swedish Model by colouring: 4:59pm On Aug 26, 2011
POTUT:

As it turns out, I have met many muslims, and I have a very good friend who is a muslim. We turned from colleagues to very good friends today, even after we no longer work in the same organization. He is not on NL, and he makes a lot of sense when he talks.

Unfortunately, the NLers who appear to be muslim make little sense in their posts. They do not respond to the essence of the matter being discussed, they see everything as stereotyping them. I really don't know the kind of bondage they are in. Whatever it is, its effects are very obvious.

Muslims are not in any bondage, but the lack of structure, organisation and maturity on this forum prevents lot of muslims from making comments on issues that borders on the Islamic religion. As a NLer, i have witnessed intelligent comments that were faced with abuses and sometimes curses just because some NLers have religious biases, prejudices and sentiments. Take for instance, a bomb blast occur and in less than 30 minutes, without any authenticated evidence, some NLers have started castigating muslims for the attack. No conscious muslim will support killing of innocent citizens. In Islam, an unjust killing is synonymous to destroying an entire nation and likewise saving a soul is synonymous to saving an entire nation.

On the issue of Islamic Banking, I believe that the problems many Christians have is the word Islam and that is why they do not bother to understand the basis, modus operandi and the benefits of this banking system. However, this is like planting a seed of ignorance, which will only bring about the fruits of enmity and discord. Why will Nigeria borrow $5bn in 1985, paid almost $20bn and still owed $28bn. This is the height of injustice, some people may say that it is based on agreement between the parties but i say why not try a better alternative which is Islamic Financing. Even the US Govt raised over $12bn dollars from Islamic Bonds, this is because they know the benefits they will derive from the transaction. Interest kills and if there is an alternative, why not abandon it. Let us try to embrace the spirit of love, affection, unity and tolerance.

For instance, it will be inappropriate for a muslim to say that Nigeria is being islamised because of any of the following reasons, amongst others:
1) Sunday is an-off day work whereas there is work on Friday;
2) The symbol of cross is used by Nigerian Medical Association, just because of the believe that "Christ Heals";
3) Almost all classrooms are being used as Churches in our tertiary institutions;
4) Proliferation of Churches on Lagos streets and mid-night disturbances for vigil prayers in residential areas;
5) Use of "Church-originated" gowns by schools to graduate students;
6) etc.

With love, affection, unity and tolerance, we can live happily as brothers in this country.

Whether the story is true or not, there are important lessons to learn by all aspiring bachelors and spinsters. Although, I do not know the circumstances surrounding your getting together as admirers before you got married, I think it is important to pray and fast ceaselessly before going into marriage so that you don’t end up with a wrong pick.
Albeit though, a woman slapping a man is not acceptable by any standard (this does not mean a man has the license to slap a man). Since, you have persuaded the woman severally, put the two families in the picture and have also taken a temporary leave out of your house. I think the next step is a permanent solution. Pray to God for guidance, fast (if you can) for God to guide your decision and be bold with whatever decision you take.
Within me, I suggest you divorce the woman and report to the police (or appropriate authorities). If she realizes that the slap is not as painful as she thinks, she may introduce knives, forks and even gun. This is a possibility going by your narrations, I pray you don’t end up your life prematurely so that you can enjoy more of egusi and pounded yam. This combination is very sweet. Once you divorce her, run away for your dear life, you may require the support of the police to relocate your properties, get another apartment and she will soon realize that she is a big fool. I really don’t think joblessness and infertility should degenerate within 2 years into insanity. Please, my guy, RUN…
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Is There Hope For Third Class Graduates In Nigeria by colouring: 6:02pm On Aug 16, 2011
Most organisations overrely on paper certificates and this is a very wrong practice. Its relatively easier for a 2-1 or 1st class to grab entry-level job placements. However, a 3rd class graduate need to do some catchup such as Postgraduate studies, informal skills acquisition, gaining experience in a low-paying organisation, etc.
One of my friends graduated with a 3rd class in Mechanical Engineering and he joined a local mechanic workshop to gain hands-on-experience for 3 years and before you know it he was gainfully employed by a Multi-national car dealer as a technical supervisor. Upon joining the company, the guy was taken abroad for training on automobiles and he is currently okay financially.
LOSE NOT HOPE AND BELIEVE YOU CAN.

I suggest that the administrator should suspend Sike and Sicily4u for their immature comments on this forum. Why would you guys be cursing each other? What for? The objective of NL is to enlighten and promote the spirit of knowledge sharing and collaboration.
Moderator, please take note.
