Ukodhiko Visits Ozoro Monarch on Fact-Finding, Debunks ‘Rape Festival’ Claims

The Member representing Isoko North and South Federal Constituency, Rep. Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko, has debunked viral claims of a so-called “rape festival” in Ozoro, following a fact-finding visit to the leadership of the Ozoro Kingdom.

Ukodhiko paid a visit to the palace of the Ovie of Ozoro Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Anthony Uvietobore Ogbogbo, Ibuka I, where he held consultations with the monarch and the President General of the Ozoro Progress Union, Odio Chief Beckley Asiafa, to obtain firsthand clarification on the incident that had circulated widely online.

According to the community leadership, no case of rape occurred during the Uruamudhu festival.

They clarified that the incident involved harassment and assault of some young women by a few miscreants who exploited the situation, but were promptly stopped by vigilant motorcycle riders and youths of the kingdom before any sexual violation could occur.

The leadership expressed concern over the rapid spread of misleading and exaggerated narratives on social media, which falsely portrayed the incident as a cultural practice.

Speaking after the visit, Ukodhiko described the reports as disturbing but firmly rejected any attempt to link such acts to the culture of the Isoko people.

“The Isoko people are known for their hospitality, dignity, and strong moral values. We will not tolerate any behaviour that is alien to our culture or capable of tarnishing our collective identity,” he said.

The lawmaker condemned the actions of those involved, describing them as criminal and unacceptable, while expressing sympathy for the victim and reaffirming his commitment to ensuring justice.

“My thoughts are with the victim. Such acts are evil and have no place in our society. Those responsible will be brought to book. Nothing will be swept under the carpet,” he stated.

Ukodhiko further emphasised that no community in Isoko land has any tradition that promotes or condones sexual violence, noting that cultural festivals are meant to promote unity, heritage, and communal harmony.

He commended the monarch, His Royal Majesty Anthony Uvietobore Ogbogbo (Ibuka I), and the President General, Odio Chief Beckley Asiafa, for their swift response and cooperation with security agencies in clarifying the situation.

He also appreciated the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area, and law enforcement agencies for their prompt intervention.

Ukodhiko urged media organisations and social media users to exercise responsibility by verifying information before publication, especially on sensitive issues capable of damaging the reputation of communities.

While condemning the attempted act, he reiterated that isolated criminal behaviour must not be misrepresented as culture, stressing that Ozoro remains a peaceful and culturally grounded community.

In a statement by his Media Team, Rep. Ukodhiko described Prince Ogorugba as a grassroots politician whose emergence as council chairman reflects divine purpose and the collective will of the people.

Beneficiary Testifies to Ukodhiko’s Transparent Empowerment, Says Hope Still Alive for Ordinary Citizens

Mr. Eloho Idoro of Emevor, a beneficiary of an empowerment programme facilitated by the Member representing Isoko North/South Federal Constituency, Hon. Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko, has shared a compelling testimony highlighting what he described as transparency, fairness and people-centred leadership in the lawmaker’s interventions.

In a Facebook post, Idoro recounted how he initially doubted reports of a business expansion empowerment scheme carried out last year, suspecting, like many similar initiatives, that it might be politically influenced.

However, he said his doubts were dispelled after he decided albeit reluctantly to prepare and submit a business plan for consideration.

According to him, his application was shortlisted strictly on merit, after which he was invited for a physical interview to defend his business proposal.

“To the glory of God, I emerged as one of the 18 beneficiaries of the ₦500,000 empowerment grant, without any form of political influence,” he stated.

Idoro noted that the experience fundamentally changed his perception of governance and leadership, stressing that the process demonstrated that integrity and fairness are still possible in public office.

“That singular act made me understand that there is still hope for the common man in the corridors of power,” he wrote.

He further described Hon. Ukodhiko as a leader who listens to the cries of his people and responds decisively without compromise, commending both the lawmaker and his foundation for prioritising genuine empowerment over patronage.

Expressing his gratitude, Idoro pledged continued support for Ukodhiko’s principles, programmes and vision for the Isoko nation, affirming confidence in his leadership and endorsing his aspiration for re-election in 2027.

Since assuming office, Hon. Ukodhiko has been widely acknowledged for initiating empowerment schemes, interventions and constituency projects aimed at improving livelihoods and expanding economic opportunities across Isoko North and South.

Ukodhiko Meets Owhe Clan PGs, Assures Completion of Power Upgrade

...Urges Protection of Public Assets

The Member representing Isoko North and South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Rep. Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko, has met with President Generals (PGs) of communities in Owhe Clan, assuring them of the timely completion of the ongoing power infrastructure upgrade in the area.

The meeting, which held on Saturday at the lawmaker’s country home in Erawha-Owhe, provided an opportunity for engagement on pressing community development issues and strategies for sustaining peace and protecting public facilities.

Rep. Ukodhiko thanked the PGs for honouring his invitation at short notice and appreciated their continued support over the years.

He also congratulated the newly elected President General of Akiewhe Community, Hon. Herbert Erah, and wished him a successful and impactful tenure.

Charging the PGs to remain effective custodians of their communities, the federal lawmaker urged them to promote peace, particularly among youths, and to strengthen unity across the Owhe Clan.

He stressed that peace, cooperation and collective responsibility are indispensable to grassroots development.

Briefing the leaders on the status of the ongoing electricity upgrade, Rep. Ukodhiko, who is also the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Science and Technology, expressed concern over delays by the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) in energising and commissioning the upgraded 33kV power line serving the clan.

He criticised the demand for huge electricity arrears from communities that have suffered prolonged irregular power supply, insisting that development issues should not be politicised.

The lawmaker assured the PGs that he remains committed to resolving the power challenges and that the upgrade would be completed soon.

He also condemned the vandalism of newly installed 33kVA transformers within the clan and appealed to community leaders to take ownership of government facilities by ensuring their protection.

On solar street lighting, Rep. Ukodhiko explained that communities yet to benefit should exercise patience, noting that over 1,700 additional solar streetlight units would soon be deployed across Isoko land to guarantee fairness and equitable distribution.

Speaking on behalf of the Owhe PGs, the leader of the Owhe PGs Forum, Dr. Israel Adaigho, commended Rep. Ukodhiko for his people-centred interventions, including transformer upgrades, scholarships, solar streetlights, hospital equipment, and the rehabilitation of the Owhe water reticulation system.

Dr. Adaigho appealed for the provision of additional transformers for Otie, Enuru and Otor-Owhe communities.

He also requested the installation of solar streetlights at transformer locations to deter vandalism, as well as stipends to support community vigilante groups.

In his closing remarks, Rep. Ukodhiko disclosed that MTN would soon commence the installation of a multi-service telecommunications mast in Erawha-Owhe, a development expected to resolve persistent network challenges affecting Otor-Igho and neighbouring communities.

The meeting ended on a positive note, with renewed commitment to peace, community development and sustained collaboration among stakeholders in Owhe Clan.

Agbi Calls Out Contractor Handling Isoko Ring Road

...Commend Oborevwori for Turning the State into Construction Site

By Oma Rojas

Special Adviser to the Governor on Project Monitoring and Audit, Engr. Dr. Goodnews Agbi, has expressed dissatisfaction on the pace of work and equipments used in the construction of Isoko Ring road linking Isoko North and Isoko South LGAs.

Agbi made the expression on his visit to the reconstruction of Ellu/Ovrode/Ofagbe/Orie-Irri/Okpe-Isoko/Uro Irri/Ada-Irri in Isoko North and Isoko South LGA where he noticed that the job had remained at the same position after his last visit to the site requesting to know the challenge of the contractor who only had his engineer on site that couldn't profer cogent reasons for the delay.

Agbi who was joined by the state house of Assembly member representing Isoko North, Bernard Odion, alongside the Special Adviser to the Governor on infrastructure, Nathaniel Igbade, amongst other Executive Assistants and professional Engineers in the ministry, called for better productivity or suffer the fate of losing the contract to a more capable hand.

"We are not impressed with the rate and progress of work in Ofagbe that is, the Isoko ring road. Equipments and supervision are very poor. We urge the contractor to sit up because the community is already agitating that the job is restricting their movement. The rainy season is over. With this few break they should be able to do a lot of work because when the rains return, they will be stalked."

Member representing Isoko North at the state house of Assembly, Hon. Bernard Odior, who joined the inspection on the grounds of representation and oversight, gave his review concerning the project saying; "the contractor is not doing well and the contractor needs to up his game to avoid statement that the Governor is not working whereas, that is not the truth. That project has been reviewed upward for him, he has no challenge of money so he has to up his game and we want him to finish that job in reckon time. If he is not ready he should let us know so that we can give it to a better hand to handle the project for us because we don't want our people to suffer. I therefore, appeal to the people of Ofagbe to remain calm. We are ready to deliver. The company should have an alliance with the community."

Moving to the construction/rehabilitation of Emevor Ivrogbo/Orogun road phase II at Emevor town also in Isoko North LGA, the team including Hon. Odior commended the contractor for the job achieved not minding the terrain.

"For Orogun/Emevor road I want to praise the contractor he has done very well. He has done a good job. The area is swampy and impassable that the Governor is making it passable and the contractor is doing very well using equipments that has enough capacity to do the job assigned to him and he has promised to conclude the project by November I encourage him to do more so we can continue to partner with him."

Other projects visited were the rehabilitation/Asphalt overlay of Nnebisi road Asaba in Oshimili south LGA and Rehabilitation and expansion of Umejei road with drains in Asaba, a spur to the Federal Government Girls college ibusa in Oshimili North LGA where Agbi commended the contractors.

"We are at the era of a working governor. We've gone round the whole places and we can see that there is work going on in every community. We started from Oshimili South from FMC down to Abraka.

The road is under construction the new road median barriers are almost completed to Abraka and also to specification. The contractor did very well and has proven to be one of the best so far and according to them, they would complete the job before Christmas to make movement easy for road users. From Vision To Reality: Two Years Of Bringing Devt Home

June 13th, 2024, I marked my one year in office as the member representing Isoko North/South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, wherein I am the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Science and Technology.

While commemorating my one year in office last year, I made available to my constituents a compendium of my statutory projects and the ones we lobbied for in the 2024 Appropriation Act, which made our budgetary allocation a little below N500m, with all the projects fully executed giving us a 100% performance.

My dear constituents, As Federal Agencies and Ministries prepare to commence the implementation of the 2025 Appropriation Act, commonly referred to as the national budget and as I mark my second anniversary in office today, I felt it was important to personally share this information with you. This is to ensure that you are well informed about the provisions we have secured for the benefit of our constituency in the 2025 budget, ahead of its implementation.

For the first time, the president, to the delight of members, graciously increased members' Capital Projects to N1billion as part of his Renewed Hope Agenda to enable members who are the closest to the people at the constituency level to take to their constituents more dividends of democracy through quality project delivery.

Just as the traditional saying goes, the older the wine, the sweeter it becomes. We did not just double our first year efforts; we decupled it and did an additional inclusion of about N2.1 billion as part of our resolve to ensure that our people benefit tremendously from the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President, who made it possible for members to have more budgetary allocation and to complement the efforts of our working Governor of Delta State, Rt. We undoubtedly acknowledge that every ward and community has demands, but the reality is that, we cannot meet these demands in a single budgetary year.

I want to appeal for calm from members of communities that did not receive any project inclusion in this year's budgetary cycle and to reassure them that they will be considered next year. I encourage community leaders whose areas have not yet benefited from any project through us to identify and submit their priority needs that can be addressed through our statutory budgetary allocation.

These should be sent to me ahead of next year's budget preparation. I remain optimistic that the projects mentioned above will be executed to the admiration of all and will effectively serve the purpose for which they were included.

God bless you all.

Yours in service,

Hon. Engr. Ajirioghene Jonathan Ukodhiko,
Member Representing Isoko North and South Federal Constituency.

Delta State Government Determined to Deliver the Dividend of the MORE Agenda as Projects are Still Ongoing

By Oma Rogers

The Delta state Government has continued to ensure that the dividend of the MORE agenda gets to Deltans not minding the political situation of the state with the people trying to digest the movement from the People's Democratic Party, PDP to All Progressive Congress, APC.

This is following the inspection of projects in different Local Government Areas by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Project Monitoring and Audit, Engr Dr Goodnews Agbi, who has continued to make sure that contractors are placed on their toes to deliver projects in time and according to specification.

Agbi alongside his team of experts who visited the Construction of Olomoro-Igbide Road in Isoko South LGA, Construction of Udu Habour market Udu in Udu Local Government Area, renovation/rehabilitation of Warri Township stadium in Warri, and the Construction of Osubi Specialist hospital in Okpe LGA were impressed with the pace of work happening at the different sites.

Giving an overview of all projects visited Agbi gave his remarks saying; "This is the elevation of the state government proposed Osubi specialist hospital. We have gone round and found out that they are doing the site preparation by removing the top soil before they start filing.

These are some of the projects that the Governor is executing in Osubi and environs. To be sure that this project is delivered on time for the people to enjoy the dividend of the MORE agenda, there are four contractors on this project. This project is going to impact on the lives of those living here and we want to appreciate the governor for what he's doing for the people of Delta state."

"For the Udu Habour market, they have gotten to 65% from what I saw. They've not finished the rendering of the outer parts of the market but the plastering and finishing inside is very good. However, due to the landscape, the job might be delayed a little, but we are hopeful that within this May or in June the work will be completed and commissioned.

The market which is the largest harbour market in West Africa has been roofed. So, projects are still ongoing in every parts of Delta non stop."

The Special Adviser also disclosed that the Olomoro-Igbide Road will soon be linked in no time.

According to Agbi on his remarks from his visit to the stadium, he said; "At the stadium all the roof trophies have been completed. According to the contractor, they'll lift the stadium from 400mm to 500mm which means if rain falls water will no longer gather there.

The water will flow naturally because the surrounding area is lower than the stadium. So they're trying to raise the stadium. In less than 18months the stadium will become a brand new stadium for Deltans. This is to tell you that the Governor is also in the social circle trying to improve the lives of Deltans."

Meanwhile, Engr. Femi James of Peculiar Ultimate concerns in charge of the Warri stadium project added that; "we are looking at completing the stadium in 12months. On the Main bowl, we are working on the football pitch bringing it up to a FiFa standard then the tattered tracks to a WBS standard.

Then cladding the entire main bowl to become a brand new one. In addition we have the indoor sports hall which is new. We are also working on the swimming pool and some other facilities. We are going to build a mini police station, and a power house.

We are working on the entire landscape by raising the compound because of the flooding we are having so that at the end of the day, the problem of flood will be eradicated. We are also working on the practice pitch to meet with FiFa standard. All these to be achieved in 12months."

Delta PDP's move to APC driven by state's political interest – Rep. Ukodhiko

The Member representing Isoko Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko, has described the recent mass defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State as a bold and strategic step aimed at safeguarding the state's political future.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Lunch Time Politics, Ukodhiko said the decision to join the APC was made after careful consideration and in the best interest of the state.

According to the lawmaker, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s move demonstrates leadership and a commitment to the collective interests of Deltans, rather than personal gain.

“Looking at the broader picture, the Governor is doing very well, as many have acknowledged. However, to secure the political future of the state, he had to make a decisive move that would carry everyone along,” Ukodhiko stated.

He noted that many political analysts have evaluated the national political climate and its implications for the PDP, observing that the party currently lacks a viable structure at the federal level.

“If I ask you today who the National Secretary of the PDP is, you probably wouldn’t know. That says a lot about the party's current state,” he added. “Why would anyone want to remain in a party that has no clear future?”

Responding to questions about former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s alleged issues with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ukodhiko dismissed any connection between the defection and the former governor.

“The decision by the entire Delta State PDP to move to the APC is solely about securing the future of every Deltan, myself included,” he emphasized.

“As a representative of the Isoko Federal Constituency, we were uncertain about our political direction until this move was made.”

He explained that the governor responded to widespread concerns among stakeholders who repeatedly questioned the political future of the state.

“We needed to be in a place that offered stability and a better outlook for the state's development. That’s why we chose the APC. It’s about the future, not about any individual,” Ukodhiko said.

He also pointed out that the state has been in opposition for the past ten years, a situation that he believes is no longer sustainable.

“We can’t continue to remain in the opposition, especially when the President has shown genuine love to Delta State. Let’s not forget that the First Lady is also from Delta. It would be unwise to stay disconnected from the center.”

Ukodhiko stressed the importance of being part of the ruling party to gain better access to federal support and influence national policies that affect the state.

“We can't continue to rely solely on FAAC allocations. For effective policy implementation and development, we need the support of the federal government,” he said.

He further highlighted projects that the state government intends to undertake in collaboration with the federal government, including improvements in port infrastructure, electricity, and other critical sectors.

“Now that we are aligned with the federal government, we are in a better position to attract these developments and ensure meaningful progress for Delta State,” Ukodhiko stated.
