Christianity EtcRe: Apostation In Xtianity by ConcernedRusian: 6:09am On Nov 03, 2017
shittufarukumar:
If this is commanded by bible den y do xtian say muslims are violent mean while they are the green snake under the green grass
The difference is that Muslims actually do this in reality, whereas Christians don't, and haven't since the Middle Ages. In fact, there is more to Christianity than just the Bible, and boiling Christian views on apostacy to the Old Testament is just ignorance, and I'm an atheist saying this. I guess that a literalist slave Muslim would never understand.

Out of the book and into real life, what do we observe Shittu? Let's compare Christian to Muslim nations.

How many Christian or historically Christian countries on earth right now give the death sentence for leaving Christianity? ZERO.
Not even the most conservative of Christian countries, like Armenia, Georgia, Greece or Russia have a DEATH SENTENCE, letalone any other kind of criminal sentence, for leaving Christianity.

Now look at the modern day Muslim countries. Nearly every single one makes Apostacy jailable or a death sentence, and that's if you're lucky and the angry Muslim hardliners don't form a literal lynch mob with pitchforks and kill you themselves, as has happened in Egypt, Pakistan, Iraq, etc.
You can't even blame it on the poor and uneducated. Islamic religious zealotry cuts right through class divides in Muslim countries - many ISIS recruits and people who join Salafist movements in Bangladesh and Indonesia are from middle-class households. It's the Muslim religion and the culture that is backwards.

Also, are you a sockpuppet of OmarIbnShittu? You both have "shittu" in your name.

Why are you angry nah? It's like someone has used religion to dupe you, I'm sorry about that. But you don't have to result into being an atheist.
What? Why is being an atheist such a horrendous thing to you? I know why - it's because you're a brainwashed muslim simpleton.

iamgenius:
I wish your life doesn't end up like this. If you claimed atheism is lack of belief in a god, I'll say you had rather say THERE IS NO GOD. why use the word LACK whilst you don't believe in these God.
Atheism literally means the lack of belief in a god. A- meaning without, and -theism meaning gods and religion. The entire point of disbelief is the lack of belief in god. Allah itself is inconsequential due to the fact that Allah simply isn't real. The problem is all the mad

iamgenius:
You still a low level atheist, you just being brainwashed. And you are here spitting what you've been spoonfed.
Is irony just completely lost on you, you silly Mussulman? LOOK IN A MIRROR! You can't even conceptualise atheism as anything other than some cruel and evil existence, you're that brainwashed by Islam. Here YOU are spitting what you've been spoonfed about the beginnings of the world!

Christianity EtcNigerians Are Too Fixated On Instant Gratification by ConcernedRusian(op): 4:53pm On Oct 31, 2017
This is not necessarily a religious topic, but it ties into religion.

Can't see the forest for the tree. Such a sentence describes many Nigerians perfectly.

Something I've noticed is that a lot of Nigerians have a serious problem with self-control and self-discipline. You can see this all the way through Nigerian society, from poverty to the richest and most powerful figures in Naijan parliament. Nigerians constantly rant about religious values and other such things yet are incredibly depraved.

Just look at the fetishising of arobas, the constant sexual obsession, the lack of interest in academic pursuit, the extremely individualistic personality, the lack of understanding of from the society for the society, the list goes on. I can't even count the number of Nigerian politicians who are caught embezzling millions out of state assets that could go towards betterment for Nigerian social and political infrastructure, who then use their money on prostitutes and luxury cars - the two most useless monetary trades on earth. And what about the disgusting Naijan "Pastors" who make a business out of preaching a religion that they do not follow, and rip money out from under the poor just so they can spend it on luxury jets and huge mansions? Disgusting! There is literally no point to these extravagancies. Good food, a good, functioning country/world and a good clean home are all that we need to live our lives, and that is exactly what these "pious" pastors and "upstanding" politicians deny the hundreds of millions people who call Nigeria home, all so that they can get a little suptuous decadence in within their pathetically short lives!

The fact that the first thing a Nigerian thinks when they get into a position of power is "how can I exploit this as much as possible" is a PROBLEM for Nigerian society. Without integrity, corruption flourishes, and this is enshrined better nowhere other than Nigeria. Nigerians also spend waaaaay too much time on matters of the sexual nature. It'd be understandable now and then, and there's nothing wrong with sex per se, but I swear there are some Nigerians who can't think of anything other than god and sex! (what a terrifying mind!) to the point where it eclipses the impulse for other pursuits, particularly ones of higher thinking. Maybe Nigerians should find some actually productive hobbies to sink their teeth into instead of constantly revolving their lives on this wonderful earth obsessing over arses, breasts and joysticks. Again, Nigerians with 6 children by the time they're 20 is a PROBLEM. Overpopulation is just making things worse.

I think Nigerians would seriously benefit if they stopped seeing regulated abstinence as a form of stupidity and as a healthy and socially constructive life choice. People always rage about scum when they are revealed in parliament selling off oil fields or operating money laundering deals, but nobody ever stops and considers where those scum came from. It's the same society they live in themselves.

Atheism has never been an imported idea. Godlessness knows no nation, and neither, ultimately, does the scientific community. This is the fallacy of Cultural Relativity - when you try to extend cultural relativity to defend a cultural practice that is blatantly nonsensical. What the hell does returning to some pre-Christian Voodoo doodoo do other than roleplay the lives of some uneducated tribesmen from centuries ago, and why is the "imported idea of Atheism" not preferable to this?

I'm not your bro, never will be, and your delusion doesn't hold up. Islam can't survive in the modern era, simply due to the fact that it is illogical to the modern educated brain to presume that a god exists, and that that god is a god outlined and enforced upon invaded countries by a bunch of Arabs 1400 years ago. There are great, secular educations to be had, especially in the West. People are waking up to the way Muslim hardliners indoctrinate through their community Mosques and their Saudi-funded Madrasas, and eventually there are going to be bans on all that sh!t. Islam will either collapse from within, or it shall be crushed. That is the fate of the world's worst religion.

Also, claiming that any criticism of religion is confusion and that blind devotion is "god's will" is just pure idiocy. Even cartoons make fun of that nonsense!

Christianity EtcBest Way To Deconvert Muslims by ConcernedRusian(op):
The best way to deconvert Muslims is to have them connect with non-Muslims, especially atheists. Islam rests on the idea of "if you are not with Allah, you are the enemy". This is why most American muslims are either becoming atheists or secularised, where as British and to a greater extent French and Belgian muslims are creating these little nations-within-nations where ultra-conservative religious views flourish counter to the rest of general society in said countries.

Leaving Islam is completely innocent. But it is seen as the ultimate sin by many muslims. Families will disown their kids, and indeed leaving Islam in nearly any muslim country, including in Nigeria's Northern states where Shariah law is active, is punishable by death. Of course in non-muslim lands this is clearly not the case, but it is still enforced by the muslim "community leaders", a.k.a. the muslim religious structures in France and Britain and the communities they have infiltrated - particularly the Salafists. Muslims in Western countries who openly leave the faith get sent death threats. The only way for Islam to stop proliferating is simply by headbutting it in the face - criticising the existence of a god and the outrageous and arrogant claim of "La ilaha ilallah", criticising and cutting government funding to Muslim religious "leaders" in muslim communities, and making a safe environment for Muslims to discuss and criticise their faith without some zealots lynching them.

ABOUT THE POACHERS PIPELINE

Al Jazeera's Investigative Unit exposes the people and powers behind the illegal trade of one of the world's most valuable substances - rhino horn.

In The Poachers Pipeline, Al Jazeera goes undercover to penetrate the criminal pipelines that traffic horn, from a fresh kill in Africa to a sale in

Asia.

Ground zero for the rhino crisis is South Africa's Kruger National Park - where poachers kill two or three rhino every night. They hack off the

horns, sometimes while the animal is still alive, and within hours the illicit goods are in the hands of a trafficker. Our undercover reporter, made

contact with a senior trafficker - known by law enforcement as a level 3 exporter - who shares his secrets on how to get horn out of Africa and

how to bribe his way out of trouble. He even claims to have a powerful contact in South Africa's state security.

The rhino horn trade is made possible by corruption at every step of the chain and by an insatiable demand that goes to the very top of Chinese

society.

I dont think we will be in the mess that we are in today because the devil knew she was weak & could be easily decieved that was why he went to her first. So if eve had eaten the fruit alone, i dont think God would have punished her alone considering the fact that she is weak, instead its possible He would have made her stonger to resist temptation.
If i can recall very well, God didnt question eve after they ate the fruit coz i believe He understood her plight. It was adam He questioned coz he was meant to be the one to scold eve for eating the fruit, and him trying to push the blame on eve really angered God.

*waiting for feminists to come break my head for referring to eve as weak*
I won't break your head for referring to Eve as weak. I think your head is already quite broken enough if you believe in the abject stupidity that is the Garden of Eden myth.

Eve, if she existed in the blatantly nonsensical creation myth, was intelligent, and the devil a hero of liberty. God had literally no reason to forbid them from eating an apple other than "I said so". Is that supposed to fly with intelligent human beings? Naturally people would want to understand the reason why they are not allowed to eat the apple. Is it simply because god did not want them to? Then that is nothing short of tyranny. This is just one of many biblical events where god acts like a conceited, cruel, psychotic, murderous monster and the reader is just supposed to accept it and go "well it's his will", without ever stopping to question him.

There is also the issue of god's supposed omniscience. If god was truly omniscient, then he would've understood how fate would've played out to begin with. He would've known that Eve was going to bite the apple before she had even existed. Why would such a god punish her for it, then? Sounds to me like this "god" is a cruel, malicious child who plays games with the lives of his creations.

Imagine if the story of Eden was applied to real people, with god being some autocratic strongman dictator in the style of anywhere between Idi Amin to Nicolai Ceausescu. "God" (the dictator) is the supreme being and ruler of the garden, and NOBODY may question their motives or position, and they maintain said position purely through displays of power and cruelty. "The devil" or "The snake" is a propagandistic construction of any voice of dissent, any voice of reason that questions the arbitrariness of this "god's" regime. You see this in Islamist suicide bombers, who believe that anyone who criticises their psycho religion is "the devil" talking to them or "confusing" them. It's a nightmare model of social control.

Then why did christian always criticized Islam for disallowing this. I believe we should all be saying the truth sometimes so that religion can be differentiate from social life.
Religion does not have to be literalist. That means not every single verse needs to be adhered to strictly or literally. Christianity also has passages like "kill cripples who approach the altar" and "if your children swear at you, murder them", but luckily nobody follows that nonsense in even the most conservative Christian circles anymore.

The problem with Islam is that almost all of it's verses are taken literally. That's the big differential between Christianity and Islam in the modern day.

Also, some food for thought: A lot of the things associated with Men or Women that we take as human universals, such as Pink vs Blue or Pants vs Dress, aren't actually so basic when we look at history. Trousers were invented by Indo-European horse-riding tribespeople, like Scythians, in the Northern steppes of Europe and Asia over 2500 years ago, and were worn by both men and women - before that men wore robes or tunics - essentially skirts. Trousers were ergonomic and spread throughout Persia like wildfire, worn by men and women alike. Many Ancient Greeks refused to wear pants because they thought they were too "feminine"!

President Yoweri Museveni moves to allay concerns of terrified local women after 23rd victim is raped, murdered and mutilated

Sarah Neliima worked as a waitress at Friends Restaurant in Katabi town, a few kilometres from Uganda’s international airport in Entebbe. At 9pm on 19 September, Neliima, who lived nearby, finished for the day.

“That was the time she usually left work for home,” said Harriet Namusoke, a friend.

The next day, Neliima, 22, did not show up for work. She was not at home either. Concerned colleagues and relatives mounted a search.

Neliima’s body was found later that day in a banana garden, a stone’s throw from the Entebbe-Kampala highway – the 23rd woman to have been murdered in the area since June.

The spate of brutal deaths in Wakiso district is raising the spectre of a possible serial killer at work and local women are terrified. Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni made an impromptu visit this week to the affected communities, promising he would personally investigate the murders.

“We have previously dealt with and defeated more sophisticated crime, including terrorism. We shall apprehend those behind these killings,” Museveni said. “The Wanainchi [ordinary people] gave me valuable information. We shall bring an end to these senseless murders.”

There have been striking resemblances between the killings: the women were all aged between 18 and 35, each of them was raped, and all had sticks placed in their vaginas.

Some of the murdered women were known to be sex workers, and at least two were students.

Authorities have blamed the murders on domestic violence, ritual sacrifice or a drugs gangs working in the area. After the first eight bodies were found there were reports of a man confessing to killing women on the orders of a local businessman. But Asan Kasingye, a police spokesperson, told the Guardian on Thursday that while they have so far arrested and charged 13 people in connection with the killings – the latest, a businessman, was apprehended on Wednesday – yet the murders continue.

More than 400 police officers have been deployed to the area and a curfew has been imposed. The presidential residence is in Entebbe and, with the airport nearby, the area already has a heavy security presence.

Among the other victims are 18-year-old high school student Norah Wanyama, whose body was found in a banana plantation on 21 July in Nkumba Central, a village in Entebbe.

Mother of four Julia Nalule’s body was missing for more than a month before her body was found. She had left her home to supervise her bricklaying business, but never returned.

On 5 September, parliament was unceremoniously adjourned after government ministers were unable to offer any explanation for the murders. Two days later, internal affairs minister Jeje Odongo told legislators the deaths were the result of ritual sacrifices – an explanation dismissed by activists as simplistic and insensitive to the victims and their families.

Uganda’s inspector general of police, Kale Kayihura, had blamed the murders on domestic violence. On Thursday he linked them to drug abuse, alcoholism, youth unemployment – which in most areas affects more than half of all 18-24-year-olds in the country – and organised crime.

Women’s rights activists have called on the government to account for the failure of the authorities to find the killers. They have created a hashtag, #NotAnotherWoman, and called on Ugandans to observe a day of mourning.

Uganda Women’s Network posted: “I am the unknown woman, killed in cold blood, if government had done more to protect me, I’d be alive, to fend for my kids.”

Action for Development, a local advocacy group, said: “It’s the responsibility of the state to ensure safety for us all. Lives [have been] cut short because they are women.”

Liliane Byarugaba, a member of the Uganda Association of Women Lawyers, told reporters in Kampala earlier this month: “We demand a combined security report from the security arms of government led by the police about the causes of the murders.”

Kayihura said: “With more vigilance and community policing we’ll be able to get those behind these killings.”

He said the police had formed lookout teams among local people to help identify people they suspect to be behind the murders.

But this has done little to calm the fears of women. Annette Belinda, a retailer in Entebbe, said: “We are scared. We have been told not to move out of our houses after 10pm.”

Few residents have faith that the killings will stop.

“I have stopped moving about at night. He could be a serial killer. I don’t know where he will strike next,” said Deo Busulwa, who lives a stone’s throw from the canalside location where the body of mother-of-two Maria Nabilawa was found earlier this month.

Researchers supported by The Wellcome Trust were able to sequence the Canaanite genome from the remains of five individuals buried in the ancient port city of Sidon (modern Saïda, Lebanon) around 3,700 years ago. The results were compared against the DNA of 99 modern-day Lebanese residents.

According to the results, Canaanite ancestry is a mix of indigenous populations who settled the Levant (the region encompassing much of modern Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Israel, and the Palestinian territories) around 10,000 years ago, and migrants who arrived from the east between 6,600 and 3,550 years ago.

An additional Eurasian element was added to the genetic mix sometime between 1800 and 200 B.C., a tumultuous period that saw the collapse of the Bronze Age and the advent of the Iron Age, the era in which most scholars believe the Bible was recorded.

Biblical Villains or Israelite Ancestors?

Biblical accounts generally portray Canaanites as the arch-enemies of early Israelites, who eventually conquered Canaanite territory and either exterminated or subjugated its people.

Archaeologists, however, identify the Canaanites as a collection of tribes of varying ethnicities that appears in the Levant around the beginning of the second millennia B.C. Over the centuries, they were at various times independent city-states or client states under Egyptian control, and their presence is recorded in letters from Bronze Age rulers in Egypt, Anatolia, Babylon, and elsewhere in the region.

Despite massive cultural and political upheaval in the eastern Mediterranean at the end of the Bronze Age in the 12th century B.C., Canaanite presence persisted in the region, most notably in powerful port cities along the coast, where they were known to the Greeks as Phoenicians.

No archaeological evidence for the widespread destruction of Canaanite settlements described in the Bible has yet been identified, and many scholars believe that the Israelites, who appear around the beginning of the Iron Age, may have originally been Canaanites.

The "Tip of the Iceberg"

The new study is notable for its sequencing of the Canaanite genome. Obtaining ancient DNA (aDNA) from human remains found in the region is difficult, since heat and humidity are the "biggest enemies" of aDNA preservation, accordingto Marc Haber of The Wellcome Trust's Sanger Institute and a co-author of the paper. Many of the ancient samples tested came from sand-filled vessels near the sea shore at Sidon, a major Canaanite/Phoenician city-state that was eventually conquered by Alexander the Great in 332.

The research demonstrates that scientists have the ability to do interesting studies on aDNA from Lebanon and surrounding areas, says Sanger Institute co-author Chris Tyler-Smith. "This is only the tip of the iceberg," he adds. "We're looking forward to more samples from different places and different time periods."

While the researchers were surprised at the level of genetic continuity between ancient Canaanites and modern Lebanese after some 4,000 years of war, migration, and conquest in the area, they caution against drawing too many conclusions on ancient history based solely on genetic data. "People can be culturally similar and genetically different, or genetically similar and culturally different," says Tyler-Smith.

Archaeologist Assaf Yasur-Landau, co-director of the Tel Kabri Archaeological Project and author of a forthcoming book on the Canaanites, agrees. "Canaanites are still a huge mystery to us, so every study of the Canaanites—whether it's in genetics, culture, economy, religion, or politics—is something that will tell us tremendously important facts about the makeup of the Biblical world of the first millennium."

WRONG. The Bible originates from Judaism, which originates from the Semitic religions of the semitic people. (e.g. Aramaeans, Hebrews, Arabs, Assyrians, etc.) Semitic people themselves coming from ancient Afro-Asiatic peoples from whom Oromo and Somali and Ancient Egyptian also arose. Nigerians, and the overwhelming majority of Africans are not semitic people, ethnically culturally or linguistically.

The only people in Nigeria outside Arab tribes who could genuinely claim some sort of ancient semitic connection are Hausas because their ancestors are actually people who came from Eurasia into Africa, and their language is a distant relative of Arabic, Somali, Egyptian and Berber ,and even then it's only a whisper.
