If you think traffic in Lagos is bad, wait till you hear of the one that happened in China on February 21. Due to extremely heavy fog causing low visibility on Wednesday night, ferry services on the Qiongzhou Strait were canceled. This meant that the thousands of cars, coaches, buses and lorries that needed to use the service were stuck. And the number of people waiting in or outside of the three Haikou ports just built up until there was heavy traffic. Over 11,000 cars are reported to have been stuck in the traffic that lasted from night till the next day. An estimated 100,000 commuters were forced to spend the night on the road. The ferry services began working a day after but the backlog of vehicles took so long to get sorted. There were still some delays on the road as at last night. Speaking to Xinhuanet, Gu Gang, executive vice mayor of Haikou, said: “We are working with the city of Zhanjiang in Guangdong to ensure the shipping route operates normally. The Haikou city government also issued a notice asking workers who use the route to “take the day off” to help reduce traffic. https://naijagossipa.com/2018/02/23/11000-car-traffic-jam-in-china-causes-commuters-to-spend-the-entire-night-and-the-next-morning-in-traffic/ Lalasticlala

A mutant pig was born looking more like a baby elephant – with a tiny TRUNK hanging from its face. The three-day-old creature stunned villagers when it was born in remote Nakhon Phanom province, Thailand, on the Laos border last Saturday. Residents noticed the male pig’s deformed face and the strange trunk hanging from his forehead between his tiny eyes. But the youngster was unable to suckle its mother and the residents began providing round-the-clock care for the pig by bottle-feeding it milk. Local farmer Nisaa Seehala, 34, said: “The young pig did not have any strength. He was so weak and couldn’t reach his mother. “He came out of the womb deformed or handicapped and looks like a little elephant. He doesn’t know it though, I feel so sorry for him. “He is a wild pig but everyone has been amazed that he looks like an elephant. He also said, ‘it is an evidence of the natural world.’ https://naijagossipa.com/2018/02/23/mutant-pig-born-with-elephant-trunk/

The Sexual Offences And Domestic Violence Court commissioned on February 1, by the Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has delivered it’s first judgement. The Court on Wednesday, sentenced 58-year-old Cobina Iziejen to 60 years imprisonment, with hard labour, for defiling a 12-year-old pupil. Iziejen was convicted of the offence of defilement on February 15, after he confessed to have slept with the victim on three different occasions. While delivering the judgement, Justice Sybil Nwaka said the verdict would deter other sexual predators. “I cannot agree more with the prosecuting counsel that incidences of rape have taken a new astronomical dimension in our society. The rate at which men in our society are prowling around, looking for young underage children to defile, is alarming. Children, especially the girl-child, are no longer safe in the custody of uncles, brothers even fathers; this is sad,” said Justice Nwaka. “Our children, especially the girl-child, should be encouraged to cry out and report any sexual assault against them, as this is the only way to correct this dire situation. We desire to make Lagos and its environs safe for our children. “These children are leaders of tomorrow and as such, should not be ruined in their formative years. Lagos has zero tolerance for sexual offences. For these reasons, I hereby sentence you to 60 years imprisonment with hard labour.” Iziejen was arraigned on February 12, alongside Raimi Jimoh, 38, and Arowolo Olorunwa, 35, on a three-count charge of child defilement. Iziejen pleaded guilty, but Jimoh and Olorunwa pleaded not guilty. Their trial will commence soon. According to the Chief State Counsel, Mr Jide Boye, the convict committed the offence in 2017 at Orimedu Town, Ibeju-Leki, Lagos. “It was observed by her school authorities that she often returned late from her lunch break during school hours. Upon enquiry, the child admitted that Olorunwa has been having sexual intercourse with her during the break time,” said Boye. “The head teacher of the school, probing further, reported the matter at the Akodo Police Station, Ibeju-Lekki. At the police station, the child also identified Jimoh and Iziejen as persons who also defiled her on a number of occasions during her break time.” he added. At that proceedings, Boye urged the court to allow justice take its course, saying a stiff punishment would send a clear message to the public. Iziejen, in his statement to the police, admitted defiling the pupil on three occasions in his home. https://naijagossipa.com/2018/02/23/court-sentences-man-to-60-years-imprisonment-with-hard-labour-for-defiling-12-year-old-girl/

Welsh legendary singer, Tom Jones, 77, found himself in a compromising situation while attending the BRIT Awards at London’s O2 Arena on Wednesday night. The Voice UK judge was pictured checking out his co-judge Jennifer Hudson’s cleavage as they posed arm-in-arm on the BRIT Awards red carpet. Many are saying the singer was distracted by Hudson’s stunning figure, who attended the event in a strapless red floor-length gown, that flaunted her ample cleavage. https://naijagossipa.com/2018/02/22/the-voice-uk-judge-tom-jones-caught-checking-out-jennifer-hudsons-cleavage-as-they-pose-together-at-brit-awards-photos/ Lalasticlala

A 15-year-old student of Army Day Secondary school, Imo state, Queendaline Ekezie collapsed and died after she was allegedly forced to do frog match by two soldiers in her school for coming late. Her father, Hyginus, on hearing the news, passed out and was rushed to a hospital in the community for treatment. Speaking to Punch, a friend of Queendaline, Miss Aguocha who was present when the incident happened said; “On that day, we had set out at 7am. We waited for a motorcycle to take us to school till it was 8am. When we became frustrated, we decided to board a commercial cab. But the driver did not leave the motor park until the car was filled with passengers. When we got to school at 9am, we met three sets of late comers on the ground. Two soldiers were asking each set to do frogmarch to a particular distance after which they picked their bags and entered their classes. When it was our turn, we were about reaching the finishing line when they said we were not doing it right and we should start again. After we repeated it, we went to pick our school bags, but one of the soldiers said he was still not satisfied. I completed the punishment the third time and I picked my bag and left. I suddenly discovered that my friend was not with me. When I returned to the place, I saw her crying. She started vomiting the food she ate that morning. She was saying, ‘my back, my chest.’ The soldiers were just staring at us. She added that while the 15-year-old groaned with pain, a teacher who was just arriving in the school, observed her and asked if she had been sick before the time. Aguocha said she insisted that her friend was healthy, adding that the school principal, who also later arrived, joined in examining her. The victim was allegedly taken to the hospital in the principal’s car. She was given an injection and then put on a drip. “After they put on the drip, she started vomiting blood. Blood was spurting out of her nostrils, mouth and ears. I called the teacher to inform her and she alerted a nurse who said her condition had worsened” The victim’s sister, Immaculate, a Senior Secondary School 3 pupil in the school, said her sister was not given adequate medical attention which contributed to her death. Reacting to the incident, the 82 Division’s spokesman and Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sagir Musa, said it would be premature to comment on the incident as the Imo State Ministry of Education had planned to issue a statement on it on Thursday https://naijagossipa.com/2018/02/22/secondary-school-student-slumps-and-dies-after-being-subjected-to-frog-match-by-a-soldier-in-imo-state/ Lalasticlala Mynd44

The pilot of a Transavia Airlines flight traveling from Dubai to Amsterdam Schiphol last weekend was forced to make an emergency landing after a row caused by a passenger who wouldn't stop farting. Two Dutchmen sitting next to the man who was farting didn’t take very well to it but the unashamed man refused to hold back. Members of the crew on the Dutch low-cost airline refused to do anything about it and a fight broke out between the men despite a warning from the pilot. The row caused the flight to be diverted to Vienna Airport. After the plane landed, police went on board with dogs and removed two sisters and the two men after the pilot made a report about "passengers on the rampage". The two sisters who were removed from the flight are now taking the Dutch budget airline to court, claiming they have done nothing wrong. Nora Lacchab, 25, a law student from Rotterdam, and her unnamed sister, say being removed was "humiliating" are now seeking to legal action. The two women, who are of Dutch and Moroccan descent, were returning to Amsterdam after a week holidaying in Dubai. Nora told De Telegraaf: "We had nothing to do with the whole disturbance. We distance ourselves from that. Do they sometimes think that all Moroccans cause problems? That’s why we do not let it sit. "We had no idea who these boys were, we just had the bad luck to be in the same row and we didn’t do anything. All I will say is that the crew were really provocative and stirred things up." All four passengers have since been released and were not arrested as they had not broken any Austrian laws. However, they have all been banned from Transavia Airlines, who say that the two girls were also involved in the fight. In a statement they said: "Our crew must ensure a safe flight. When passengers pose risks, they immediately intervene. Our people are trained for that. They know very well where the boundaries are. Transavia is therefore square behind the cabin crew and the pilots." https://naijagossipa.com/2018/02/20/pilot-make-an-emergency-landing-after-a-passenger-drops-farts-with-a-bad-smell/

A student in Kiambu County, Kenya was suspended from school and ordered to buy 1000 loaves of bread as punishment for allegedly stealing a loaf of bread. The Form 3 student at Muhoho High School in Gatundu South was sent home on Thursday, February 15 after supposedly stealing the bread from the school dining hall. In the suspension letter obtained by Citizen Digital, the student was required to return to school with 1000 loaves, which, according to the school, is bread enough to feed all the students in the school. In addition to buying bread for the whole school, the deputy principal ordered the student to clear all his pending school fees balance. “You are required to return to school the soonest possible at 9am having cleared all the school levies and come with bread for all the students in the school i.e. 1000 loaves.” With bread retailing at an average of Ksh.50, this means the student’s parent or guardian is set to part with approximately Ksh.50,000. https://naijagossipa.com/2018/02/19/student-suspended-ordered-to-buy-1000-loaves-of-bread-for-stealing-just-1-loaf/

Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, has charged troops to capture Abubakar Shekau, the factional leader of the Boko Haram terrorists group, dead or alive. The Army Chief gave the charge when he paid a visit to Camp Zairo, the former Command and Control Centre of the terrorists group in the Sambisa forest yesterday February 17th. He said: “Let me say congratulations. But, we must move across to wherever this criminal, Shekau is and catch him red handed. I want you to get him. Mr President, Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces says congratulations to all of you for recovering the Sambisa Forest. As far as we are concern, we have come to the end of this operation (clearing the forest of remnants of terrorists). What is remaining now is the Lake Chad waters only and we hope to do that (clear terrorists from it) also very soon. Meanwhile, you all know these criminals are still on the run; these guys are on the run, you must make sure that you get them wherever they are around this area. You must not allow them to escape. Every day, you must go on patrol, lay ambush for them and you go on raids. This is the time we have to consolidate and ensure that this place – Sambisa forest, is safe and never for these criminals to come back to it,’’ Buratai charged the troops'' https://naijagossipa.com/2018/02/18/catch-shekau-dead-or-alive-chief-of-army-staff/
