Immediately after the coup Igbos all over Nigeria celebrated the deaths of the Yoruba and Hausa leaders killed in the coup. They even went to the extent of creating songs with it to taunt them and also produced lots of souvenirs about the incident. Bread label's were used to glorify the coup all across igboland.

After the coup, igbo officers replaced the executed officers from other tribes and made sure they fill up all the ranks with their kinsmen. An igboman became head of states and the first major decree he made was to centralize power cos of greed and the federal level thereby putting and end to the more successful regional government till date.

The first coup has igbo boldy written all over it and the igbos were proud to taunt others with it before they reaped the repercussions... had they known.
