Our Petition Led to Toyin Saraki’s Arrest – Kwara PDP

It has become imperative to inform the members of the public that we have every reasons to believe that a petition recently submitted to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kwara state chapter is largely responsible for the invitation and eventual criminal prosecution of the former Kwara First Lady and wife of the Senate President, Mrs. Toyin Saraki.

It will be recalled that our party had sometimes early this year, discreetly submitted a petition to the EFCC detailing how certain individuals in high places under the past administration of Dr. Bukola Saraki had milked the state dry and left the people more impoverished than they met them.

In the said petition, we carefully chronicled how state officials, including former First Lady Toyin Saraki, former Special Adviser to the Governor on MDGs, Mr. Ope Saraki, Personal Assistant (PA) to ex-Governor Bukola Saraki, one Mr. Abdul Adama from Kogi state, a former Commissioner for Information, Mr. Tunji Morounfoye, all working in a ring, got enmeshed in a cesspool of corruption unprecedented in the history of Kwara state or any other state of the federal for that matter!

Although, we believe that the arrest and prosecution of Mrs. Toyin Saraki is long overdue, we nevertheless take solace under the fact that the long arm of the law seems to have finally caught up with her and her cronies. We are particularly delighted that our painstaking efforts at chronicling the monumental heist that defined the 8 years, almost uneventful rule of former Governor Bukola Saraki in Kwara, has not gone unnoticed.

We therefore commend the EFCC for its resourcefulness and painstakingness. We pledge our cooperation with the EFCC and all other relevant anti-graft agencies to ensure that all those who knowingly looted our collective patrimony but now walking the streets of Kwara free with their ill-gotten wealth, do not go unpunished.

We urge the anti-graft agency not to buckle-in to pressure or blackmail that is already being mounted by political jobbers over Mrs. Saraki’s invitation by the EFCC. Instead of sponsoring paid activist-for-hire to stampede the EFCC out of the prosecution, one would have thought that the most moral thing for Toyin Saraki and her handlers to do now is to allow the law to take its cause. Since the duo of Ope Saraki and Tunji Morounfoye are already standing trial for their crimes, one would expect Mrs Saraki too to seize the moment and clear her name, instead of playing to the gallery.

For the avoidance of doubt, we reiterate that the offences Mrs. Saraki is being accused of are criminal in nature and such offences are not known to be statute-barred. Therefore, the fact that it took over five years after Mrs. Saraki left office as Kwara First Lady before she is eventually brought before the law does not matter. What matters is that justice is ultimately served, especially for the sake of the hard-working Kwara civil servants, poor Kwara farmers and the promising children of Kwara who were and are still being subjected to all manners of deprivations as a result of the rapaciousness of a privileged few who could not contain the temptations to stare clear the cookie jar.

I read on today's edition of Punch newspaper that NDLEA has set up a panel to investigate a music video (Fans mi) released by Nigerian artiste, Davido, in which he displayed a substance suspected to be hard drugs.

The Director of Public Affairs of the NDLEA, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, told Punch that the investigative panel might invite the hip-hop artiste for questioning if the need arose.

“When our attention was drawn to it, we viewed it and we discovered that it was improper. There is no moral lesson in it and he was just advertising drug trafficking.

“In the video, he exchanged a brief case supposedly containing narcotics for dollars. He was displaying affluence in the video. If it (the plot) had climaxed in an arrest and possible detention, we would have congratulated him for partnering with us. But the way he portrayed drug trafficking in the video was a means to an end, which the end is a life of affluence which we disagree with.”

After reading this, I had to go to Youtube to watch the video. It was to my greatest consternation to discover that there was nothing like drug in the video!

Certainly the setting of the video is that of drug barrons where substance suspected to be drugs were wrapped and put in a suitcase. The suitcase was actually exchanges for another one stuffed with different dollar denominations.

However, the video later showed the substance being poured into boiling water where a plate of semovita was made out of it. The video ends with Davido devouring the dish with some pieces of bush meat and efo riro while washing it down with choiced drinks.

While I will agree with the law enforcement agency that there is no moral lesson lesson learnt in the video, as it encourages fraudulent practices, this was not a case of hard drug. IT WAS A CLEAR CASE OF 419 as money was fraudulently obtained from the white guy under false pretence.

It is my submission that Nigerian public servants need to do their homework well before coming to the public to inform us.

Whenever Saraki wanted something, he’s willing to sacrifice anything. There are instances where he sacrificed his father for political expediency, his sister and this time around, he had the party to be thrown under the bus and he did that very quickly to the extent that even the party and the President did not recognize and realize what happened before it was too late.

He understand that if he attended the meeting with the President that morning, they would probably prevail on him and say the party is bigger than you but he wanted the senate presidency so bad that he was willing to sacrifice anything to get it. In that regards, everyone missed the clue.

What happened was part of the efforts to diminish Bola Tinubu’s role. A part of it, is also to enthrone a political criminal gang. There is now a newer, more aggressive, more cultinate political gang than Tinubu’s in town, that people haven’t paid attention to. They are composed of business people and politicians. Many don’t know that Bukola Saraki was the biggest fund raiser for Buhari’s election.

Everybody thought it was Tinubu because Tinubu was the owner of the party. It was Bukola Saraki who got money from the likes of Dangotes and some of the guys who realized very early or very late in the game that Jonathan was going to lose. They channeled all the money through Saraki, including … from the NNPC. You must have heard of the story of him taking money from the Minister of Petroleum Resources. This was some of the money channeled last minute. He was a really bagman for the campaign and he felt that he deserved to be rewarded for this but the party didn’t see him as someone who should be in a position like that. So, that new gang was able to prove their mettles and put Bola Tinubu apart.

Lawan was actually not Bola Tinubu’s candidate for the senate presidency. It was Akume, the former governor of Benue State that Tinubu wanted. But after reading Buhari’s body language, which is the best they can do, knowing the kind of character that he is, they decided to go with Lawan…….But Saraki went back to the rich guys and told them: it’s possible we have lost the senate presidency to someone who you cannot approach to do business. He’s not a business person but you need a Senate that is pro-business person. (What pro-business means in Nigeria is someone who can support all the criminals in the business community)

They supported him and they over-spent Bola Tinubu and all his people, overnight and he went back to the PDP to get all the remnants of the PDP to back him. Because he only had 11 senators from his own political party and that’s why they had to do what they did, which is not allowing the other Senators to be part of the election process. So, they went to David Mark and David Mark arranged for the Clerk of the House to make that happened for them because that (Clerk) was his (Mark’s) man.

It will interest anyone who cares to listen that as an IT guy, I am very fast with mobile phones and I possess requisite knowledge and skill to work around them.

I have placed a bet with some of my friends to see if they will succeed in this venture and they have always returned with the same story.

Following the confirmation of Mr Osita Chidoka as the new Minister of Aviation, Mr Boboye Oyeyemi has been appointed the new Corps Marshal/Chief Executive of Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC.

Oyeyemi, until his appointment, was a Deputy Corps Marshal and the highest ranking officer at FRSC.

Update

President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday named the former Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Mr. Osita Chidoka, as the new Minister of Aviation.

He also named a former lecturer at the University of Abuja, Dr. Suleman Abubakar, as the Minister of National Planning and Deputy Chairman of the National Planning Commission.

Jonathan made the announcement after the swearing in of the two new ministers shortly before the commencement of the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting.

The President also named Deputy Corps Marshal Boboye Oyeyemi as Chidoka’s successor in the FRSC.

He urged the new government officials to ensure that they leave their footprints in the offices they were deployed in.

On Oyeyemi, Jonathan said he decided to appoint him from the commission in order to ensure stability.

This, he added, was a clear departure from what had been obtainable in the FRSC since its inception when its heads were appointed from outside the system.
