Politics / Police Arrest Pregnant Woman Who Stabbed Maid in Lagos (video) by contactwale: 10:59am On May 21, 2023
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old pregnant woman, Eucharia Ndigwe, who allegedly stabbed her maid’s body with a knife for failing to wash a bag.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who made this known on Saturday, said the woman was arrested on Saturday by the Ijanikin Police Division after the police got information that the victim, Florence Anienene, was injured with a knife by Ndigwe.

Hundeyin said: “The woman was arrested. It was discovered that she is heavily pregnant and was transferred to Gender Unit of the command where they will work with the Lagos State Domestic, Sexual and Gender Violence Agency.

“While she is there, they will take care of her medically while investigation is ongoing.”

A viral video has been circulating on social media showing a teenage girl, who identified herself as Chinaza Anienene from Anambra State, with an open wound with blood gushing out from the left side of her body.

The video was recorded by someone, who claimed to be a concerned neighbour to the teenager.

Chinaza in the video claimed Ndigwe stabbed her with a knife because she failed to wash a bag given to her by the “aunty”.

The concerned neighbour in the video claimed that he used to hear the teenager’s cries.

The neighbour said he heard the teenager’s cry again on Friday and decided to visit the apartment, where he found blood dripping from the girl’s body.

Politics / Investment Of Obi In Anambra Is Worth Next To Nothing- Soludo by contactwale: 8:28pm On Nov 10, 2022
Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has declared that the purported investments by the Presidential Candidate of Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi when he was the governor of the state is now worth next to nothing.

Soludo made this known on Thursday evening when he appeared on Politics Today, a flagship programme on Channels TV.

When asked about his perspective on government investing outside the public sector with reference to Obi as former governor in Anambra, Soludo simply said, “I don’t know about the investment.”

“Our interview is about the 2023 budget. I’m not talking about investments of any of my predecessors. By the way the one that you talked about I don’t know about that. I think there was something I read about somebody speculating about whatever investment. With what I’ve seen today, the value of those investments is worth next to nothing. So, let’s leave that aside,” he said.

Politics / APC: Runningmate Should Be About Competence And Not Religion by contactwale: 9:46pm On Jun 11, 2022
To be declared winner of the Presidential election in Nigeria, a candidate must not only get the overall majority votes, he must also get at least a quarter of the votes in at least two thirds of all the states in the country.

Two thirds of all the states in Nigeria, plus Federal Capital Territory is about 25.

The chance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming 2023 elections is very slim in the South East (SE) and the South South (SS) geopolitical zones of Nigeria.

It is a no brainer that SE will overwhelmingly vote Mr. Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party. Majority of the states in the SS will also pitch their tents with the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

That leaves APC with four zones of North West (NW), North East (NE), North Central (NC) and South West (SW). These four zones can boast of 25 states and FCT. These are the states APC should focus on.

On the debate about the Vice Presidential candidate, I think the South West will still support their own even if APC goes for Muslim/Muslim ticket.

Until we started losing our values and culture to urbanisation, religion has never been an issue. Yorubas were traditionalists before the advent of the Abrahamic religions. Even today, there are many families where you will still find practitioners of different religions, even among siblings.

The alleged religion division they talk about in Yorubaland is actually being promoted by the immigrants amongst us.

It is therefore a sheer ignorance to use Lagos to define Yoruba. Lagos is a cosmopolitan city with people of different background, orientation, culture and value. Real Yorubaman do not relate to you based on your faith, unless you prove otherwise.

So, aside from religion, APC needs to consider a lot of factors in choosing a running mate from the North.

Tinubu needs a popular and influential politician who can add to his fortunes. That is why I will prefer somebody from the North West.

North West boasts of the highest number of votes in the country. So, it will be a big plus for APC to choose their presidential running mate from the zone. Only an amateur politician will joke with a zone where the real votes come from and Asiwaju is not one!

Unfortunately, I do not see that type of politician who is a Christian in the North West. In the absence of that, they would have to make do with a Muslim.

In the type of democracy we practice, VP is more or less a glorified Personal Assistant. He is powerless in the scheme of things (as we can see in the case of Prof. Osinbajo). Power resides with the President (and may be, his kitchen cabinet).

So, I don't see how a VP can influence the decision of the President, especially on religion's matter.

And religion will not be an issue in Tinubu's government, if elected. He does not relate with people based on religion. As a politician and administrator, his policies and programmes have always been people-centric, with no religion colouration.

Besides, I do not see how a man whose wife is a Pastor (and many of his children, Christians) will work against Christianity.

In summary, I will advise that competence, acceptability, influence and popularity, and not religion, be considered in choosing a running mate for the presidential candidate of the APC.

Politics / Soludo Inaguaration: Video Shows Obiano's Wife Slaps Mrs. Ojukwu First by contactwale: 12:18pm On Apr 11, 2022
A clearer video has emerged that set the record straight what indeed transpired between Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu and Mrs. Ebele Obiano, wife of former Governor of Anambra during the inauguration of Prof. Charles Soludo as the new governor of the state.

In the video, said to be released by Mrs. Ojukwu, it can be seen that Mrs. Obiano indeed attacked Ojukwu first before the latter retaliated.

This put to rest the insinuation that it was Mrs. Ojukwu that first assaulted Mrs. Obinao in reaction to a comment by the latter.

Please watch.

Celebrities / FACTCHECK: The Video In Circulation Is Not Tiwa S*xtape by contactwale: 12:24pm On Oct 13, 2021
Summary: The video is circulation is not Tiwa's s*xtape. It is a 30-sec cut from the original 12-min long p*rn video available online. The guy in the video is named Fella Run It All. He is a p*rnstar

I finally see "Tiwa s*xtape" today!

A friend was talking about it on his status and I requested for it. As in ganni afiji. Iroyin o t'afojuba...

Well, it turned out to be a 30-sec clip with one lanky beau and his belle doing it in a sitting doggy style.

If you are a night clubber, chanced are that you have seen this position many times.

Here, the lady sits on a chair facing the backrest, with the guy ramming into and hammering her from the back.

I particularly like the position because it allows for deep penetration. It is also not too stressfully for ladies (especially the lazy ones) as it allows them to rest their head while taking all the "assaults" from behind.

It is somewhat difficult for ladies to keep quiet when they are being ponronised in this position. The scintillating effect goes through the body leaving no area untouched.

So, watch it! You are likely to be treated to all manners of "innuendoes" ranging from moans to dirty talks, growling, purring,
squeaking, screaming and even swearing.

Oh Lord, we thank thee for creating s*x. Amen?

Well, when I received the clip, I first looked for my headset. The way some of these girls shout when they are being ponronised these day too dey taya person. They nor dey do swallow for outside, but wetin dem dey swallow inside pass trailer. Wetin nah?

Anyway, back to the clip. While watching it, the first thing that gave it away was the guy. Though a short clip, I knew I have "seen" the guy somewhere before.

I then remembered! This guy has an IG page and I'd stumbled on him years back. And he has not changed that much.

So, the guy is actually a p*orn actor and that lady is one of his girls!

I have seen pictures of some girls that actually look very much like Tiwa online and this girl is one of them.

So, that viral video is fake and the lady therein is not Tiwa! That clip itself has been online for years. So, it couldn't have been new.

In case you want to dig more on this guy and the girl, you can go on IG (and/or Google) and search for Turnupmonsters and/or Fellarunitall.

You can also search for them on SnapChat. I want to however warn you to be prepared for whatever you see.

In summary, the viral video is FAKE!

Having said that, I really don't believe there is any s*xtape anywhere. Tiwa lost her bf some 3 months ago and it will be f*olish of her to be having s*x on tape with a man she's just met. Even if you are not a celebrity, you need to build some level of trust in somebody before you start doing something "natural" with him.

While I do not see anything natural in having s*x on tape, I believe she is matured enough to face the consequence, if any. So, she is free to do her bits in her privacy.

So, what do I think?

I see the whole stuff as publicity stunt. Even, if a blackmailer confronts her with such a claim, I wouldn't believe she would come out herself to spill the beans. It is easy to deny some of these things in this our new era. She could dare him to release it and claim that it was a Photoshop. After all, a Kano evangelist was allegedly caught on tape stuffing his black suits with bundle of CFA Francs and he denied it. And that was the end!

Why would she come out with such a claim, you may ask?

Well, these celebs can do anything to trend and remain in the news. About two years ago, an obituary was posted of one of them, which later turned out to be a farce. So, they can do anything.

I also learnt the video of her new work, Somebody's son, will be out this week. She may be doing this for clout chasing. The more clicks on your YouTube videos, the more money in your account...

Anyways, that is my opinion. I may be right and I may be wrong.

Do have a great week!

Politics / Lagos VAT Contribution: Between Fact And Fiction by contactwale: 9:14pm On Sep 11, 2021

The ongoing debate about Value Added Tax (VAT) has been both interesting and enlightening.

As a converted fencist however, I have not lost any sleep over it. I am experienced enough never again to stick my neck out for polticians and their political rigmaroles. Even if states are allowed to collect VAT, how will that better the lots of us citizens?

No, fencists are not neutralists.

We have our politicial biases. We have only decided to be objective and not totally accept or reject anything. We believe that in bad, there is good and in good, there is bad. So, fencism is not neutralism. It is only about not taking sides, afterall one can not be totally right or be totally wrong.

Yes, I agree the development is a step in the right direction in our attempt to restructure the country. However, it will only translate to more money for some states which will eventually end in the pocket of the politicians. What have they done with the ones they have been collecting?

Since the debate commenced, the social media space has been awashed with different conjectures, some good, some bad, some ugly. However, the one I find rather disturbing is about the contribution of Lagos State to the total VAT revenue generated by the Federal Government. It is gradually becoming entrenched that even tax experts and economists have started quoting the figure without taking a second look at it.

It is said that when lie is allowed to go unchallenged, it becomes truth before public. Hence, the need for this piece.

In 2018, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) released data about the vehicle number plate production in Nigeria. A breakdown of the statistics showed that Lagos has the highest with 60.87 per cent. Since the report was released, many had assumed that over fifty (50) percent of vehicles in the country are in Lagos and have been going around with that impression.

Of course, this is not correct. We know that many non-Lagosians prefer to have Lagos number on their vehicles despite that they do not reside in Lagos.

The same interpretation has been given to a statement by a former Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun. In August 2017, Mrs. Adeosun revealed that 55 per cent of the revenue generated by the Federal Government from Value Added Tax receipts was being collected from Lagos State.

Last Wednesday, at a public hearing on "A Bill for the law to impose and charge value Added Tax on certain goods and services provided for the administration of the tax and other Related Matters", the Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa was quoted to have said that Lagos State generates an excess of N500 billion in Value Added Tax annually.

Nothing can be more misleading.

While it may be correct to say that 55% of VAT generated in Nigeria is COLLECTED from Lagos, it is wrong to concluded that the 55% is GENERATED in Lagos.

VAT by definition is CONSUMPTION tax.

It is levied on a product repeatedly at every point of sale at which value has been added. The tax is added when a raw materials producer sells a product to a factory, when the factory sells the finished product to a wholesaler, when the wholesaler sells it on to a retailer, and, finally, when the retailer sells it to the consumer who will use it.

In summary, VAT is borne by the final consumer.

Under the Nigerian VAT regime, Nigerian companies that are carrying on VATable transactions are obligated to deduct VAT at source and remit directly to the tax authority, which is Federal Inland RevenueService (FIRS). So, if you are a company with offices in all the states of the federation, VATs are calculated at the head office and remitted in the state where the Head office is located.

This has worked "in favour" of Lagos State.

In Nigeria, the headquarters of many of the big companies are in Lagos. So, when VATs collected for all goods and services in all states of the federation are computed, they are paid in Lagos. In essence, what is paid in Lagos by that company is not what is generated in Lagos alone, but in all the states where the compay's good and services are connsumed.

Let us use the mobile phone industry for illusration.

As at Q4 of 2020, the total number of mobile phone subscribers in Nigeria was put at 204.6 million. The breakdown in each of the geo-political region is as below:

1. South West- 58.37million (28.5%)
2. North West- 42.53 million (20.8%)
3. North Central- 37.07 million (18.1%)
4. South South- 29.6 million (14.5%)
5. South East- 20.1 million (9.8%)
6. North East- 16.96 million (8.3%)

Out of the above figure, the total number of mobile phone subscribers in Lagos 24.88 million subscribers (or 12.1%).

Other states in the top 10 include Kano State (12.67million), Ogun State (12.01 million) Oyo State (10.45 million), FCT (9.01 million), Kaduna State (8.71 million), Rivers (7.46 million) Edo State (7.1 million), Delta State (6.91 million), Niger State (6.53 million) and Anambra State (5.79 million)

However, because the headquarters of all the mobile phone companies are in Lagos, the VATs collected from the subscribers from sales of airtime, data etc in all the 36 states and the FCT are calculated and remitted in Lagos. So, whereas the VAT is remitted in Lagos, not all is generated in Lagos.

So, if mobile phone companies paid N50billion to FIRS in Lagos as VAT in August 2021 for example, it is entered as VATs collected in Lagos. This is despite the fact that Lagos State constribute "just" 12.1% of the mobile phone subscribers.

The same applies to other big companies like Nestle Plc, Nigerian Breweries PLC, Flour Mills of Nigeria and all the banks who have their head offcies in Lagos.

In summary, Lagos is paying VAT on behalf of other states. This is not to dispute the fact that Lagos may be contributing more than 50% of the 55% VAT collected in the state.

That is why I disagree with the River State Governor about his jibe that "You can’t contribute humongous numbers during elections that can’t translate to tax earnings for your state". If VAT is calculated and remitted based on where the goods are consumed, it will be clear that population is a major factor when it comes to generation of VAT.

Unfortunately, the way the collection of VAT has been structured in Nigeria has made some states to look as if they are useless.

As the debate continues, I will not be surprised if the template used in collating VAT is editted in the nearest future to reflect where the good and services are actually consumed. That is, if FIRS eventually wins at the Supreme Court.

Until then, make politicians continue to take una catch cruise. As for me, I nor dey house.

Politics / When Pius Is Not Pious by contactwale: 10:36am On Dec 08, 2020

"Smart, I know you are
very smart, but I beg you
in the name of God, don't
be smart in beating your
wife. Don't be smart in
cheating on her.

"Rather, I want you to be
smart in taking good
care of her, in honouring
her and in pampering
her. And God will bless
your home"

The above is the highlight of the sermon delivered at the wedding ceremony of Mr & Mrs Smart and Yemisi Adeyemi in April 1992.

Adeyemi, now a senator representing Kogi West constituency, was a presenter with NTA Ilorin. Aunty Yemisi, now of blessed memory, was also working with the broadcasting house as a newscaster.

Both of them were popular and household names in Ilorin then. This is because NTA Ilorin was then the only television station in Kwara and Kogi States.

When the ceremony was later shown on the TV station, the sermon became the talking point for months.

Now, I wouldn't know if Smart is indeed "smart". However, if one studies how he leveraged on his position at the Nigerian Union of Journalists to become a Senator, one will be right to say that the name is not a mismatch. He completed his tenure as NUJ President in 2006 and became a senator the following year.

Many times, a person’s name holds special meaning. Little wonders parents go to any length when chosen names for their children.

In the Biblical times, names were even more intentional, often saying something about that person’s character or their situation. Reading through the Bible, one could see how accurate names of people matched their personalities or mission in life.

There are accounts in the Bible where God changed some people's name for a purpose or new mission.

Abram became Abraham. Sarai was changed to Sarah. Jacob turned to Israel. Saul became Paul and Simon was called Cephas (which means Peter).

In Nigeria, it is not uncommon to see people change their ancestral names to identify with their new found faiths. So, names with prefixes like Ogun, Sango and Ifa get changed to Oluwa, Olu, Jesu etc

There was a time Goodluck was the reigning name for newborn babies. This is because of President Goodluck Jonathan, who is seen as the luckiest politicians Nigeria has ever produced. Jonathan became a Governor and later a President without contesting for any elective post as the standard bearer. To some people, his name brought him the fortunes.

One person who was not carried away by this belief was Juliet, the female protagonist in Williams Shakespeare's play, Romeo and Juliet.

While arguing that it does not matter that Romeo is from her family's rival house of Montague, she had declared:

"Call a rose something else, it still smells good. If Romeo had a new name, he'd still be just as perfect."

To Juliet, a thing is good if it's good, not because it has a good name attached to it. In other words, the name of a thing does not matter as much as the quality of the thing.

Perhaps, she was right when one considers the the story of Mr. Pius Angbo, a reporter with Channels TV.

Yesterday Angbo's wife, Dr. (Mrs) Ifeyinwa Angbo called him out over his long history of beating her up in their six years old marriage.

In the video that has since gone viral, Dr Angbo, showed her battered face as she described her husband as a wife batterer, abuser, attempted murderer, adulterer and a spendthrift.

In the over two minutes video, she cried to the public for help over alleged repeated assault, adding that he often assaulted her over ‘petty’ arguments at home. Continuing she said, the latest assault was a result of her advice to him to stop spending lavishly on ladies and cater for his four children.

If all these allegations are true, these should not be the characteristics of a man that was named Pius.

According to babynamespedia, Pius is an English and German name of Latin origin. It is a biblical name that is derived literally from the word 'pius' which means pious, godly, honorable.

The name was borne by at least twelve popes, and is often associated with the papacy.

The management of Channels Television, employers of Angbo has said the company will look into the allegation and carry out necessary disciplinary action.

The media outfit added it does not condone violence against women or anyone in general.

Later in the day, there was a report that the governor of Benue State (Pius' home state) Mr. Samuel Ortom, has reconciled Angbo, with his wife, Ifeyinwa.

Ortom and some of his cabinet members counselled the couple and enjoined them to embrace peace in their home.

While the effort of Mr. Governor must be commended, I think this matter must not be seen as a normal domestic conflict between a man and his wife. What they have done is in the right direction but other measures should be put in place to avert a potential "story-that-touches"

Normal conflict is part of every intimate relationship and it is usually resolved by conflict resolution However, what we witnessing is a clear case of domestic violence.

Domestic violence is a delicate issue. It has no place in a healthy relationship. So, when it happens, we must not try to resolve it the wrong way. We must avoid any effort to force a solution on any or both of the parties. Abuse of six years takes a long time to heal. That is why I feel a measure must be put in place to get to the room of the matter and deal with it.

Violence against women in any form whether physical, sexual, psychological, or verbal is never justified. It is sinful and a violation of fundamental human rights, which the Nigerian Constitution is against.

In the video, the wife revealed that before they got married, she stumbled on a paper where her husband wrote a prayer that “thank God for saving me from hatred and abuse of women.”

Obviously, she has an abusive husband.

According to studies, abusive men often share some common characteristics. They tend to be jealous, possessive and easily angered.

Many abusive men believe that women are inferior. They believe that men are meant to dominate and control them.

Here was a man who is blessed with a medical doctor as a wife. How are we sure he's not even jealous of his wife. Yes, some men do!

Like I wrote yesterday, some women stay in an abusive relationship because of fear.

Some believe that the abuse is their fault and therefore they can stop the abuse if they just act differently and be submissive. In the process they lose their self confidence and inferiority complex gradually sets it.

The wife also alleged her husband womanizes. Can anyone vouch he is not also into alcohol and drug use These three often walk together and are often associated with domestic violence.

That is why I think the guy needs to go for therapy. He may start by going for psychiatric evaluation. An abusive man who drinks or uses drugs has many issues to deal with and a 4-hours peptalk can not treat them all

No one should be forced to stay in an abusive relationship. As a matter of fact, no person is expected to stay in an abusive marriage.

Our religion houses also have a role to play in addressing this malady. The teachings on the permanence of marriage should be restructured Women in abusive marriages should be encouraged to seek a separation or divorce

The abuser has already broken the marriage covenant through his or her abusive behavior.
Violence and abuse, not divorce, break up a marriage.

ThatErha:

Before your Rav4 stopped, did you ever observe The check Engine Light on at any time? If so, did you do a scan? If yes, what were the codes displayed?
If your answer is NO to above questions, then troubleshooting may be difficult at this point (though, not impossible). Still do a scan, and get codes first.
Secondly, " Kazeems " don put hand.

Thanks ThatErha, your response has been eye-opening.

Please can you oblige me your phone number so we talk further? Mercie
