Politics › Re: Kogi Poll: Resign Now, PDP Tells AGF, INEC Chair by contigiency(m):
I think INEC has taken a proper decision on this matter. And it will not be proper to start insulting the AGF or anybody for whatever opinion they gave on this matter. Rather, we should check facts and contents of submitions made by anybody and see the credibility of such opinion and how its application can help to finally lay this issue to rest.

I totally agree with both the AGF and INEC. For instance, the AGF stated three vital points which are not just mere opinion but Nigerian constitutional provisions. He said;

1. That neither the constitution nor the electoral act states that election that is in progress should be cancelled because of a death of a candidate.

2. Rather, section 33 of the electoral act gave political party power to substitute a candidate in a case of death or where the candidate voluntarily withdraw from the election. Which means the party can do that if the event occure either before or during the election. So in this case the APC nominated candidate died and the natural thing to do based on the stated electoral act is for the party to replace him.

3. That section 221 of Nigerian constitution states that in an election, vote cast by the electorates are in favour of political party and not for the candidate nominated by the party. Just like in the case of Amechi vs INEC/Omehia. It goes to say that all the votes casted for APC was to the benefit of the party, and because the party is empowered by the above quoted electoral act to replace a dead candidate, they will simply do so in this circumstance.

so its not INEC or the AGF view that is being applied in this case but that of the provided laws. Unless Metu is saying that those quoted sections are not in our constitution and electoral act, or that there are other sections that countered them, then the best he should do is to state whatever section/s.

But in all of these, one question that is very important that we need to answer is; would anyone have suggested the cancellation of the election if the dead person were any of the candidates that scored insignificant votes?

Apart from the fact that you brag whenever evil acts take place, you always want to be associated with evil predictions. If prophecy is about this your type, then some of us are even better prophets than you. Because what you do is to just pick some countries and just say they should be careful that they are likely to encounter a problem in their life time. And if anything happens there no matter how long it takes for any problem to occure there you just start bragging that you prophesied it. I can just say now that England, Nigeria or any country at all should watch out for a possible danger and wait, even if it takes a century for any problem to occure in that country then I will say that I prophesied it. Yes because there is no any perfection nation that will stay years without having one casualty or the other. Besides, whenever you have such prophecy, I think your role as a prophet who sees beyond ordinary man is to tell whoever is the affected person/nation what prayer project they must do to avert the problem. And not wait even if it takes 20years for any casualty to happen there, you start boasting. Else, you are causing more problem than good.

FLETS

Your analysis are very much in other with detailed insight. However, The government has made arraingment on how to finance the budget from borrowing other than its own revenue. For Instance, they intend to make use of the PENCOME fund which is about N6
trillion, and the vice president has stated severally that the country must source fund from many places and invest in infrastructure.

Flets:
This government should be reminded that elections are over. Enough of these noises as reality have set in already.

Lets do some simple mathematics.
Nigeria's total crude production currently hovers at 2M barrel per day, but I will assume 2.5M barrel for sake of optimism
Crude oil sells at slightly above $40/ barrel but I will assume $45/ barrel
Most JV agreements with Oil corporations stands at an average of 60% for Nigerian govt.
Cost of production of oil for most companies stand at almost 50% but I will assume 30% (optimist case) and then 70% profit
Only about 52% of total earnings goes to the FG, the remaining goes to state allocations and host state derivation
Assuming an exchange rate 200 naira per dollar and 365 days a year

Federal Government can make approximately 1.8 trillion naira from crude sales for 2016 optimally. Details below
so 2.5Million x $45 x 60% x 70% x 52% x 200 x 365 = 1.8 Trillion Naira

Historically, crude has formed about 70% of our budgets.... following same logic, total budget can only be 2.6 trillion Naira (1.8Trillion/ 70%)

Even if we increase taxes, collapse all tax and duty exemptions and without any diversification efforts by the current government, we will be lucky to add another 1trillion the 2.6 trillion to make it a maximum of 3.6 trillion.

So realistically speaking, 8 trillion FG budget is impossible for 2016. Propagandically speaking, APC govt have said it and they believe their zombies will believe it.

I am only suprised by this judgment, short of words. Olisa Metu hope the Judiciary now has integrity?

Based on what the returning officer did by reversing his earlier decision to cancel the problem local government areas, the majority of us can only be appeased if a re-run is done is such places. Because, till now Inec has not told us why they went ahead to annonuce a result in areas that they told the whole country was mared by irregularities. So for the confidence of the people and integrity of both Inec and the Judiciary, the needful should be done.

We cannot support evil so law must take its course. Having said that, Nigerian police should know that their job does not protect them into taking laws into thier hands. A situation where a suspect will be subjected into all sorts of humiliations without any court pronouncment is unlawful. Besides every suspect is supposed to write statements in the presence of a lawyer. The world has moved away from the practice of torture of a mere suspect or accused. The practice elswhere is litigations and investigations followed by rehabilition even when found guilty in some cases. Government should improve Nigerian police capacity especially in the area of global best practices.

When we are saying that the cabinet is long over due, people are still asking for more time. No I dont support this, in as much as we want youths and women to be in leadership, Nigerian present economic realities require tested and trusted hands for us to get out of our present mess. Its not time for trial and error. So I advice all to tarry a while and lets see what the near future of this our great country will look like.
