I'm hard pressed to find what 3-5-2 actually does bring in the modern game apart from making the side defensively solid. It might be a strange united side we see this season,even though the gaffer is looking for results first.

3-5-2 is actually 3-4-1-2. he wants a number 10 to operate behind the 2 strikers. so mata/kagawa would play behind rooney & RVP just like sneijder was operating behind robben & RVP.

the strength in the formation is that we would dominate the midfield, hug possession & when we are under attack, the wingers become full backs & we have 5 defenders. it's very effective if the wing-backs don't burn out.
