afrodoc: i saw that too,he took a step towards his left and then had to adjust and dive right.having said that mata's shot was very well placed
it was well-placed but the height was favourable for any goalie - it wasn't as deadly as the one of last season heading for the top corner....

our wall was a disgrace too - no one jumped but all the blame should go to rooney! he's a rétard!
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 9:01pm On Oct 28, 2012
mbulela: I kept wondering why Valencia was attempting to do more than the simple things he is excellent at? slowing down play and learning to dribble.
DDG impressed me immensely.
btw, Mata is king.
mata has always been king - i told nuccas last season he's better than david silva but they kept snapping at me! he's so good with finding space and hitting the right pass! i was very impressed with his game play tonight! he was boss......

gary neville pilloried de gea for the freekick - he said its a goalkeeping mistake!
when i saw the replay, i thought de gea messed up too - he moved towards the other side instead of guarding his own side of the post! if mata's shot cleared the wall n scored then fair-play to mata......but de gea got murdered on his own side!

BlueDiva: We would have skinned them but Mark Clattenberg just had to earn his payoff.
Can any decent United fan even enjoy such a win?
how many chelsea players were on the pitch in the first half when united got 2 goals?

So proud of the lads, everybody apart from the dud gave 100%.
As for the other Spaniard, good riddance, i wish he gets a straight red.
who is the other spaniard? ibime?

As far as i'm concerned we have been playing with 10 men throughout the season.
What a waste of space. Even Lukaku is putting up a decent performance on loan.
nothing like that - di matteo was very silly
united have no fit defenders but they are loaded in the attack department - common sense should have told di matteo united were coming to go "gung ho" - in the previous duels, united play a lone striker @ the bridge....

di matteo must have seen united's line up one hour before the match to see fergie's intentions but he did nothing! he should have taken the steam out of united's graggs - giving those 2 goals away so early cost chelsea big time. you don't give united a 2 goal lead and not get punished at this level!
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 8:44pm On Oct 28, 2012
montelik: Besides some clever counter attacking opportunities that turned to goals, we were back to the wall most of the game until the 1st red card. If not for DDG producing some brilliant stops we could have been behind going in at half time. Interesting to see people giving credit to Young for defensive work, when Rooney was even better defensively. Besides his needless foul for Chelsea's 1st goal, his hard work and tenacity was the main reason Chelsea's midfield didn't absolutely slaughter us. The were many instances he was there to block the shot, clear the ball, close the spaces and cover gaps.
young was my man of the match - chelsea would have destroyed us with the way evra was brainfarting throughout the game....if young had a rafael equivalent on the left, he would have done more.....evra did nothing supporting young or even overlapping to create options!

the ivanovic red card was sheer pace and determination even at that stage of the match - nani and valencia would have slowed down instead of attackin the space ahead of them! young did really well in spite of getting scraps from his full back. valencia was shyte(his assist aside) - he started so he could trouble cashley with his pace and i am afraid he didn't trouble ashley enough for me! then you mentioned rooney - the guy that cost us the first goal with his low IQ?

there's a rush of blood associated with british players - rooney, gerrard, scholes, joey barton and few others have this issue. they don't think before they take certain actions. hazard had already beaten rooney to it - hazard was running into a dead end with the clusterfuck at the edge of our box, why did rooney make that idiotic tackle? seriously, this kind of rubbish can undo us in europe - it was a very silly decision.....not what i would expect from a world class player....

bxg: Is it only me but i find Valencia very useless
he cost us the game....
the 2nd goal rocked chelsea and for a moment, they were like a deer in the headlights....rafael put valencia in great positions thrice and valencia wasted every one of those chances. valencia is bizarre - he switches off once he provides one assist or a goal....a 3rd goal for us in that first half would have buried chelsea but we allowed them into the game and from then on, the deadly triumvirate of chelsea murdered us from the 35th minute!

i was very impressed with young.....his desire to run and get ahead of ivanovic was the turning point in the game. down to 10 men, chelsea got jolted a bit and that was when i expected us to reshuffle, bring on anderson or nani(dribblers) but fergie goofed n brought on that useless giggs! this is the most annoying victory we have copped!
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 7:11pm On Oct 28, 2012
chamotex: I bet if United went down to 9 men...Chelsea would have battered and embarrassed us.
I was even more concerned playing a 9 man opposition.
It's just not right. 9 flipping men! 9? I'm not even happy about it.
fergie will tell them to calm down.....throw in some bunch of tired legs to "take the steam out of the game" we need to add to our goals difference - we should have embarrassed chelsea today - you don't get such lucky breaks everytime!

chamotex: Not happy with the way we played when they went to 9 men.
Offside goal but I'd take it any day.
that's the united way, bunch of lazy players....
@ 2-2 with chelsea down to 9 men, fergie throws on giggs on the pitch - how positive is that? why not unleash anderson to finish them off? we don't punish opponents at all! we saw how city took full advantage last season when evans got sent off - when kompany got sent off in the fa tie, we failed to capitalise! it's a disgrace to fergie but we are playing chelsea again on wednesday and i expect them to batter us in that - we also have the arses next saturday......we should just send the reserves to the capital one cup and focus on the league! the first 35 mins of the first half was our best football - every other thing after then was pure dross! rooney is a twit!
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 4:28pm On Oct 28, 2012
Purist: Line-up: De Gea; Rafael, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra; Valencia, Carrick, Cleverley, Young; Rooney; van Persie.

Subs: Lindegaard, Anderson, Giggs, Hernandez, Nani, Welbeck, Scholes.
strong bench minus the oaps.....
what does anderson need to do get a start these days? carrick played 90 mins against stoke, 90 against braga and he's starting again this afternoon - he's 31, isn't he? the starting line up is good enough to keep chelsea on their toes!

chamotex: Watching Pogba play for Juve...unless the money he was 'reported;y' askng for was outrageous, we should have kept him.
We definitely dont have a midfielder of his type in our squad.
kept who? with the way fergie kept marginalising younger players and playing giggs/scholes in every game? i would have left too and money wouldn't be the reason. if a bunch of oaps are considered better than i am @ 19/20 then it means i am not loved by the gaffer.

pogba must have seen youngsters like wilshere, eriksen, goetze, etc run things for their respective clubs while he was at old trafford leaving butt-prints on the bench! the other day, fergie started carrick as a centre-back and we have defenders in the reserves that are fit for that purpose - if he cannot trust those youngsters in a home game, when exactly would he play them? where would they get the experience if he's not bedding them in now?

fergie has lost it! i fully expect him to start giggs/scholes/carrick midfield again this afternoon.....fergie's blindspots are so predictable! he would start giggs again then take him off after we must have given 3 goals away and the 2nd half would be the rat race to equalise! fergie's idiotic selection costs us at least 30 points a season!

i was quite impressed too.....

dyabman: if you can score goals do that without match fixing , tippy tappy or tipsy tackky is all folks , having the right players is most important to execute such plan

i believe team work is the most important , porto 04 , liverpool 05 , chelsea 2012 .. tippy tappy is just a tactics to enjoy yourself on the pitch. .
that's anti-football!
in the next 15 yrs, would you remember the style of play of chelsea, porto or liverpool? nah! you would talk about barcelona 2008 till now or ajax of the mid-90s. beautiful football and titles can co-exist! managers/players are just lazy these days to deploy a blueprint to play pretty football and win @ the same time!
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by coogar: 8:19pm On Oct 27, 2012
dayokanu: Arsenal of 2003/2004 were not tippy tappy The tip tap rubbish started after 2006. Arsenal before then played realistic football most of which is just route a long ball to Henry who blitz the defence Check Arsenal performance in San Siro in 2003/2004 to see what I am saying
the arsenal unbeaten team did not play tippy-tappy? don't let anyone hear that from you...they were pass masters. the youtube clip you brought up was an away game to inter-milan in which arsenal lost 0-3 in the corresponding fixture in london. how can that single match mirror their whole season? would i be correct if i bring up barcelona's semifinal duel with chelsea in 2009 as an example that barca did not play tiki-taka that season?

Check how Arsenal played their CL campaign of 2006 or the FA cup final of 2005.
they were playing teams better than them in both cases. united took 6 points from them that season and arsenal's campaign in 2006 champs league was an anomaly. they played 4-5-1 throughout and their aim was to load the midfield, stifle their opponents and score from a lucky break!

Realistic football is what Real madrid played between 98 and 02. 98 was a Capello/Juup heyckenes side definitely not tippy tappy in any way, Madrid of 2000 played some of the most negative football in that series and were under the cosh from both Man Utd and Bayern for long spells mostly taking their chances on the counterattack. The Madrid of 2002 was the most attacking of that era yet they had the grit of Makelele.
real madrid were head and shoulders above everyone in europe then. they did not play realistic football - they were not even interested in defending with the array of stars they had in that era! under del bosque, they passed teams to death!

Their attempt to play the real tiki taka post 2003 was what led them into the ignominy of the Galacticos era.
keep lying to yourself - the loss of makelele as their real destroyer was their undoing! they hired and fired managers at will so they never had any team stability! so you are telling me a team under carlos queiroz would ever consider tippy-tappy? dayo - if you wipe your mouth, there would be blood on your palm!

question for obinoscopy....

nigeria as a nation today has about 370 tribes in it - given that no country in the west african region has up to that encompassed in one entity, don't you think this is an anomaly given the relatively small land size of nigeria?

dayokanu: The only club where tippy tappy has worked largely is still Barcelona. Can you give any other example? The Dortmund you keep referring to is a counterattacking side. Who defend in numbers and break out at speed

If we have just one club out of hundreds where tippy tappy has worked, Would that be considered a successful tactic that can be replicated with guarantees of success?
arsenal's tippy-tappy in 03/04 was as good if not better than barcelona's....they fell apart mainly because of a small squad size not because of quality! tippy-tappy football is the way it should be........it was when clubs with inferior players realised they cannot match the quality of the big boys that negative football became popular! who can tell me the great madrid sides between 98 and 2002 were not tippy-tappy? football of the highest quality with players who would rip teams apart......

dayokanu: In 1994 I think Sweden and Romania were very exciting to watch.

That Brazil of 1994 was one of the dullest Brazilian teams to the world cup. The game vs Holland was very dull until Bergkamp and Winter scored
well - you thought wrong
brazil were the most exciting team to watch.....i reiterate, go and watch the match between america and brazil especially after brazil went a man down.....i am not sure there has been a football match more delicately poised in any world cup since then! alexi lalas deserved to be named world footballer of the year based on that match alone - but in the end romario and bebeto still manufactured a well-worked goal!
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 4:02pm On Oct 27, 2012
RuuDie: I said "we've won the ligue mostly playing the pair. . ." Let me clarify; I didn't categorically state a period or season or how many times it happened.
So even if it was a gazillion years ago and even if it was just once kpe're, it is still there on record for all to see that we have won the EPL playing with both Carrick+Scholes as our main center midfielders for most of the campaign. . .and I do not blame SAF for sometimes thinking the pair can re-ignite that magic again!
i understand what you are saying now but the only problem with sticking with a winning formular such as this is the fact that carrick/scholes have added 6 good years to their age since then! they do not have the legs to run that midfield like they did in 2006 - we have to move on from that and try tested and proven legs........till today, the cleverson axis has won all the matches they have started together.......

since we all agreed our defence is out of shape at the moment, a pair that would aid gung ho football should be our option! ramirez and mikel would batter scholes to a pulp......and scholes is only good when opponents stand off him.....when his markers are in his face, the midfield collapses! as long as you don't let scholes look up and pick a pass, he can be tamed! i really think we should play cleverson.......anderson vs ramirez would be a classic!
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar:
montelik: You do realize we are the away team and we haven't won there since 2002. We can't get to caught up in trying to stretch them, while allowing Mata and co to run all over our midfield (if the lesser team/players have, I have no doubt they will) and suspect backline.
away team my foot! are we going there to sit back and get slaughtered or going there to take 3 points? we played like the away team @ etihad last season, what was the outcome? our attack is superior to any other team in england and we should capitalise on that. if chelsea want to score, let them score....as long as we outscore them! if we go there to play some useless defensive football, chelsea would still score anyways cos our defence is shyte lately! until we have vidic/smalling/jones back in the squad - our only option to win is to go gung ho! it paid off supremely against newcastle - it should pay off again tomorrow!
