Man made culture not woman.
women are the major drivers of this archaic culture. widowhood & marriage are left for the women of the village to handle. men don't have a say in this matter.

Trash! grin
Which state is she from?
I'm from Owerri, Imo state and I haven't heard all these, as my cousin elder sister never did it.
so who are the umuadas?
men?

For Village girls mostly/only.
Mind you, Village girls are very submissive. Find one for yourself. grin
in this 21st century where village girls are watching pörn on their mobile phones? tell that to the birds. village girls are notoriously corrupt these days - much more than the city girls

Good.
Only Yoruba girls can be submissive.
every woman should be submissive to her husband. if submission isn't in her dictionary then she shouldn't marry - abi na by force?God constructed marriage with terms & conditions. if you can live with the conditions, fine. if you cannot, leave the institution alone. grin

undecided undecided

Lastly, fathers gain mostly from that endless list. It's men that gain from their fellow men for selfish reasons.
i disagree.......
women are the major benefactors of this list & they are the ones who continue to let the culture thrive in eastern nigeria. this is why they stylishly make fun of the girl who isn't married yet......they don't do that for the mockery alone, they do it for the purpose of their bellies.

VictoriaBee:
Coogar, check again!
Our Igbo men are not complaining.
Most of the men that frequent this section and argue about submissiveness are not Igbo except that dude Njokusomething.
Our Igbo men love us. cool
how can they complain ?
they have fled the villages to marry yoruba women in lagos. i cannot count the number of times i have seen igwes begging that the laws should be removed so that senior village maidens can marry. grin

Ok then, so only married women aren't equal to men and those men being their husbands, guess this means that, so long as a woman isn't married, she is not lesser than a man.grin
she's not!
this is why some women don't even marry. without marriage, she won't have to cook for any man or suffer any sort of domestic violence. she can buy sëx if she needs one or buy a vïbrator.

apart from marriage, there's no other sphere in nigeria where women are treated differently to men. women go to school, women work wherever they want, women have the rights to vote. so what is the problem?

Godin has been the best centre back in La Liga this season just as He has been over the last 2-3 seasons. Dude has been Impeccable(For country too mind you). Had He been born German, He will simply known as GodTANK on these pages.

The League starts in August not November so we can't simply omit those two months. The official La Liga website has Godin in the team of the season not Otamendi.Think I'll go with them thank you.
no serious pundit would put godin over otamendi this season. i concede godin has been super-consistent over the last few years but otamendi really took matters in his own hand this year. he's been nothing short of breath-taking.

This is the definition of chivalry

chiv·al·ry
ˈSHivəlrē/Submit
noun
the medieval knightly system with its religious, moral, and social code.
historical
knights, noblemen, and horsemen collectively.
"I fought against the cream of French chivalry"
the combination of qualities expected of an ideal knight, especially courage, honor, courtesy, justice, and a readiness to help the weak.
courteous behavior, especially that of a man toward women.

The word is not ours. So what you listed are not chivalrous acts. But cultural demands that need to be scraped and as a Feminist its either we both pay brideprice or scrape the system with immediate alacrity. Also, maybe you can start by telling me how African society has helped the 'weak-vesseled' African woman! cheesy Maybe I will change my views... grin
so not letting women carry dane guns to fight the fulani soldiers isn't chivalrous? grin that to me was courageous of the men in those villages. they sacrificed themselves to preserve the women & children. it can also be seen as the readiness to help the weak(women & children) cheesy grin

thank you - this is what african feminists should thrive to scrap instead of concentrating on inferior or superior gender. there are areas where women are overprivileged already & there are areas where they are underprivileged.

fairness to me = african feminists reducing the excess privileges women already have & adding more privileges to where women came short. however, you will find out that feminists don't seem to care about the areas where men are shortchanged.....they just want more & more rights without responsibility.

They made it seem so.
who made it seem so?

The whole sh1t was instituted by traditional men. No one woman begged for it.
They can stop it, we won't cry.
Infact, women are clamouring for it to stop but men don't want to end it.
women are the ones benefitting from this illegal trade the most. ask cococandy - she's an ada. in 20 years time, she would go back to her village and become the chief tax officer for any groom that intends to marry in her borough. it's a cycle!

Sorry, this old and no longer applied now except in the Village.
it still applies - background check is still alive & kicking.

I'm not Yoruba.
you see?
this is what yoruba men go through week in week out. his dignity must be laid bare before they can deem him worthy to own a wife. how is that not hardwork?

In my culture, men don't prostrate but shook hands.
i am sure they would rather prostrate than pay for that long list of things to buy for the traditional wedding. prostrating is evil but it's the lesser evil here.

Males are inferior to females then. grin How does that feel?
If we can allude to the superiority of the male gender, so we should be able to allude to the inferiority of the female gender.
I have no qualms with women who see themselves as such, but for the love of God do not use it to define other women.
if i were female, i would be very happy that the only being i am inferior to is my husband. i mean, what if God made women as spinach.....you would have about 300 living things to see as your superior. you should be grateful that only one man is superior to you. grin

Again chivalry is the least concern of the African feminist. It does not exist in our environment. I am not interested in you coming out of your car and walking round it for you to open my door. Rotflmao!
it does!
so a man going to see his prospective-in laws isn't chivalrous? a man that has to buy a set of st. michael's undies for his mother in law isn't chivalrous?

chivalry clearly exists in africa - the flavour of what we term as romance is the difference. men still make sure jobs that can physically scar women are kept away from them. when men - some of them as young as 15 were being drafted to fight biafra war, where were the women?

that's not chivalry? grin

VictoriaBee:
President got there by hardwork.
Pilot got there by hardwork.
Other ones were favoured.
Can that be said of marriage that's gotten by privilege?
so you don't think married men must have worked hard to become husbands? do you know the number of hoops nigerian men are made to jump before they can officially own a wife?

•bride price
•traditional wedding
•introduction

that's not all - some families send spies to learn the background of the groom. if there's any strange ailment in his family, the marriage can be annulled.

i can boldly say it's easier to become a president in nigeria than to get married. no presidential candidate is forced to prostrate in the sand to get a bride - men do that on a weekly basis in nigeria.

Their roles are clearly different, and only an absolute hater would begrudge Hazard the adulation that his way this season.
how are their roles different?
silva plays on the left side of the attack.....same as hazard. one loves to dribble into a culdelsac while the other uses vision & through-balls to unzip the most stubborn defence unit.

He has improved yearly on an outstanding debut season, and creating the highest number of chances in the league for 2 seasons Back-to-Back is no joke...regardless of minutes played
he's played the most minutes if you add his numbers - it's not surprising that he leads that particular stat. however, if you narrow the stats to per minute.....silva räped hazard without condoms!

You said something very similar to me in our conversation about Harry Kane.

feminists made the word frivolous. a vice president does not feel inferior. a co-pilot does not feel inferior. why are the 21st century women getting antsy over the word inferior.

feminism is a fraud!
they are selling a lie....talking about how women weren't allowed education or voting rights. men of lower class, coloured men, men who had no lands were all also deprived these rights too.

the draconian laws that existed then did not oppress women alone. the laws oppressed everyone that was not in the upper class echelon. while women in america had no voting rights, women in sierra leone were voting, yes - sierra leone(the same super-sexist africa) allowed women to vote before america did.

Let us not feign ignorance here for the love of God. The Nigerian society does not recognize this fallacy of interdependence you talk about. In fact when a woman is married she forfeits her independence to the dictates of her husband and this is NOT culturally, religiously required of the man to reciprocate his independence to the dictates of his wife.

Chivalry is NOT even an African construct. Where we come from women serve men. Men do not pick up our baggage, hold doors. That is an European construct. Chivalry was for gentlemen, and according to Fela the quintessential african, he is not a gentleman, he is an original african. You are right, i overlooked the number of playing time. But still on that, Coogar, Young and Navas can't outplay Hazard if given the same number of playing time FOR NOW. Young improved but he's still won't outshine Hazard. If Young, Navas and Hazard were in Real Madrid, Young and Navas will be benched if a gaffer is to field one amongst the three. Only Sanchez i agree outshines Hazard. If I'm a coach, i'll purchase Sanchez over Hazard because of his pace and goals.
hazard is better than young, navas, bolasie, etc. he's very durable but you cannot overlook the fact that he's overhyped. london clubs are desperate to produce a ballon d'or winner so they have been blowing bubbles inside hazard's rectum for ages......truth is, he's nowhere near that world class level yet.

We're saying something alike. @ embolden, that's the point i used in rating Hazard above Fab. When the season started, Fab was head and shoulders above others, he's the engine of that team, but he couldn't keep it going while Hazard kept his till the end of the season. You can't blame Hazard for Mourinho's over-using of players which affected Cesc and Costa. Hazard managed to stay consistent and that's what singles him out as the best out of the team.
so which attribute do you prefer? productivity(goals + assists) OR durability(100% appearance + dribbling)?
FamilyRe: Feminism: A Joke In Nigeria—for Now! by coogar: 7:00pm On Jun 02, 2015
NifemiOlu:
I don’t think I need to define the meaning of feminism at this point but a careful look at the core of feminism shows that it is centered on economic, social and political rights of women.
Feminism is a great movement as no human is expected to be subordinate to the other sexes—males and shemales. It is germane that I let you realise that feminism, to African women—at least most women, is a fraud. It is a fraud because it is not understood in the right context, the African context.
The aim of feminism all over the world is different. In the US, feminists are calling for equal pay with men. What do Nigerian women want? They want equality but then, ask, is there a state government that pays women less than their male counterparts? Is there a private company that does so? The answer is NO but there persists a problem—an inequality problem. The Nigerian laws have protected women more than they could imagine and providing equality but…
I have studied feminism or let me say I’ve been ‘following’ feminism since 2009 and since that time till now, I have not read a robust article that did justice to the place culture in feminism in Nigeria. All feminist arguments have been imported just like ‘our’ makeups and shoes and bags and sin bras…I love sin bras…another broad day light fraud.
An average feminist in Nigeria looks like this: educated, beautiful in her own way, smart, independent, religious and wants to get married. But little did many of them know that those guys selling that brand of feminism from abroad are people who don’t practise religion or let me say people who are not religious as we do. They don’t really place a premium on marriage as we do. Marriage is the bane of feminism in Nigeria. Take it or deny it.
Marriages in Nigeria draw their strength from culture. When we look at cultures from most parts of the country, we could deduce that most are suppressive to women and children but comes the issue of marriage that is rooted in culture. Let’s take a look at some of the world’s leading feminists: Naomi Wolf (age 52, divorced, 2 kids), Natasha Walter (48, unmarried, 2 kids), Opray Winfrey (61, engaged since 1992 till date), Elizabeth Wurtzel (47, married May 9, 2015) and so on. I am not painting a razor sharp view that feminists were not happily married, I am just showing a general overview of what their lives are. In top countries, you cannot easily say this is the culture of marriage…everything seems general. In Nigeria, women are tied down by culture even more than religion.
Culture is the major problem of women in Nigeria and not the ‘men are against women’ mentality some clueless women are preaching as feminism. I believe for women to thrive, most cultures need to re-evaluate their positions on women or women should be ready to live happily like the above named women because you can’t proclaim to be a feminist under a culture that suppresses. How many women are ready to leave their father’s house with defiance, move in with a man, have his kids etc? These are what people selling feminism from abroad are doing. They are not bound by culture as the Nigerian woman is.
Women need to place themselves highly in terms of image. Look around, which gender walks almost naked and demands respect? Women! Look at music videos, girls shamelessly throw themselves up and down. I remember before my grandma died, we were watching a musical video, she shook her head and said “that’s why girls need to be circumcised” I understand the poor woman’s argument but health experts have made us to know genital mutilation is bad. If women are cheap, how do you convince up holders of tradition to discontinue circumcision?
Feminism in Nigeria should never have an outlook of the foreign type of feminism because it is a fraud…a joke in its entire sense. The laws of Nigeria have provided safety of the woman but ignorance is killing many women. I feel the type of feminism that should resonate in Nigeria is one that should centre on girl-child education but every other thing that concerns women have been taken care of by appropriate laws. Even the girl-child wahala has been taken care of by the government but the major problem of women is culture and not the men in power. If women can be united, wonders will happen but as one of my lecturers would say, “A woman is the problem of another woman”. At work, who creates problem for the other woman? A fellow woman. Who marries or dates a married man? A fellow woman. Women need to start kicking against terrible cultural practices rather than cooking a war with the ‘male gender’. Sellers of feminism abroad don’t have a cultural problem, they have a gender problem but as Nigerian women, the problem is not in the gender but the culture.
feminism is a fraud everywhere on the planet. i cannot even hold any brief for the ones abroad cos they are fraudulent gits as well.....the only difference is just that they seem to work harder for the cause than the nigerian women a.k.a. shelf products.

you are doing exactly what the pro-rooney crew always do when they say he will soon be the highest goal scorer in the club.

hazard has gazillion number of minutes to have achieved those numbers. he appeared in all 38 league games of the season - so those numbers you posted are expected of him!

I agree. The hype is too much but that's because Chelshit fans are touts and noise-makers. grin

To me, and going By stats and what i watched, Hazards edged Fabregas. Fab wasn't consistent, his performance tailed off during the second half of the season. Hazard was consistent, saving Chelshit on many occasions when Costa started getting injured and Fab losing form.
cesc is the heartbeat in their team - matter of fact, we should all gather together later today & send a collective curse to moyes. if we had LVG when cesc was unsettled @barca, he would have come to us then. moyes' body odour of failure didn't appeal to cesc.

cesc should get the credits for everything chelsea achieved this season. even from a deeper position, he was able to carve out chance after chance for his team mates. his performance tailing off should be blamed on jose's overusing of his players.

look at the stats......

MissNairaland1:
Anyone who immediately blames a woman for the breakup of her marriage without first knowing the issues at stake is in need of therapy. Two people got married not one.
She is not God.
Even God will not make the marriage work when two people or one of them is committed to wrecking it.
It is bad enough we live in a patriarchal society, where most women have little or no rights as regards self development, fulfillment of purpose and a place of honor on their own marriages but, when you add on the mix of misguided and blind men and women who twist scripture and bring in pseudo-cultural ideas (or even actual cultural practices but, outdated and deadly ones all the same) we see just how evil this thing becomes.
What happened to two becoming one? What happened to two people being responsible for their union? Why should one person take all the blame? And why the woman?
Now, don't get me wrong here. There are some pretty evil women out there (men too) who actually just married to use the person and other devious plans. For those, feel free to throw it all at her feet but, unless in those extreme cases, take a moment and think about the issues. That is if you even bother to hear them.
I get so mad when someone mentions marital issues and one homosapien just pipes up and says it is when the woman does not give him sex when he wants it or she does not cook well. Or she is not sexy enough. That's a load of nonsense mixed in with a generous portion of horse manure.
Listen to an issue before you start mouthing off on things you know nothing about. It is not wisdom. It is actually pure foolishness. Proverbs 18:13.
Yes, food and sex are important. No one said they are not but, if that is all that comes to mind as the reason for a marriage falling apart, then that person needs some serious counselling and reorientation.
"Church" has ruined marriages.
"ministry" has ruined marriages.
The way childlessness was handled has ruined marriages.
The list is legion.
It is not always about bedroom gymnastics and, it is not always the fault of the women.
For some ladies, their offence was being with that man who is selfish, abusive and adulterous. They have done nothing else wrong but, someone somewhere will say what has the woman done to spoil it. It is silly.
It is even more sad that some women carry this ridiculous idea and feed it to others. If men alone did it, that's bad enough. Must a woman also open her mouth and say "a woman is the keeper of the home and if it fails it is her fault"?
Is the man a photograph or decorative China on the shelf? He does not have work to do in the marriage atink? Is he not the head of the home? Does he not know he should lead?
Abeg, don't go and form counsellor for someone's marriage and talk nonsense. Hear first and then think before you speak.
Better yet, for some folks it is safer for them to never even attempt counselling even after hearing, thinking and, praying.
Some folks will just still end up spewing nonsense out and causing more harm then good. Bhet we no go gree na. All of us na anointed ministers and counsellors, so we know what we are saying. Nonsense and ingredient.
Please for the ones who like to do things right, don't meddle into what you cannot handle and don't go to people who don't know what they are saying/doing for help. Wisdom is profitable to direct.

Ehen! And for those cows looking for "inspirational" and "non-negative" posts, I hope this serves your bloody needs.

As much as I would love us to sign Morgan Schneiderlin, probably just rumours as we'll be linked with over 100 players.
truth be told....he's a very good midfielder. if he can stay fit, he would be a wonderful asset in our midfield. as fans, we tend to underrate any player moving from a PL club to man utd. if this dude plays for PSG, bayern or juventus, we would be screaming for his signature.

he's better than kondogbia in my opinion & i would give hands & knees for sign kondogbia. if we cannot get any of pogba or vidal, any of schneiderlin or alex song is perfectly fine by me.

which would be a shame if it geys to that.
Even in injury ravaged seasons Aguero still scores in the 20s.
Hazard and his ikebe super football still gets top player despite scoring a bulk of his goals from penalties. in a season where Aguero kept banging in goals till the last day.
but but but......hazard has the most dribbles in the solar system - never mind that his dribbling produces nada as far as creativity is concerned. cheesy

blashpemy bawo, he is over rated like nani
hazard - overrated
nani - underrated

Exactly my thought!! Till this minute, how Aguero missed out on the PFA team of the year still shocks me. I can't wrap my head around it.
the league's top scorer didn't make the PFA team of the season. it's a travesty!

aguero didnt score vs chelsea.
it was Lampard at the Etihad and Silva at the bridge I think.
my mistake!
his wonder goal @the bridge in 13/14 stuck on my mind. grin

leggo:
A travesty. Wait till the experts at sky/sportsmail tell you hazard would walk into any elite team in Europe , walk in as a tourist or whathuh
because he dribbles.....
i compared his stats to david silva the other day & hazard came short as usual. the only thing he did better than silva was scoring from the penalty spot. grin

StarBoard:
hazard was barely there in his first season at chelsea if my memory serves me correctly.
I still am at a loss as to how someone still thinks Hazard is "a step below messi and ronaldo".
•neymar
•suarez
•robben
•bale
•silva
•muller
•ribery
•sanchez
•aguero

are all better than eden hazard & it's not even close. they are miles ahead!

blame the English media who made this Chelsea team out to be the new invincibles, hazard as the reborn talisman, Henry. Kane should have won the award but deluded players voted the beta version of Lennon
shoulda been a toss up between kane, aguero, costa.

this season, aguero scored against....
bayern(hatrick)
barcelona

chelsea
arsenal
man utd(3 goals)
spurs(5 goals)
liverpool
southampton

how did aguero miss the PFA team of the season with his achievements? he scored against all the teams in the top six in the league & 2 of the best teams in europe!

StarBoard:
I'll say that I thought Fabregas was more important for Chelsea this season than Hazard was. Fabregas' assists for chelsea in his first season were quite insane in my view. I stand to be corrected.
cesc is the heartbeat of that chelsea side. hazard was there for 2 seasons before cesc arrived, what did he win for chelsea? without cesc, chelsea wouldn't have won the league. cesc is the difference.
