At my place of work the other day(am a private school teacher). A female colleague was asking my why I don't often buy ashoebi when attending ceremonies of there colleague?

I asked: between my presence and buying ashoebi, which is more important?. She said both

To me I said its the presence that matters. She told when am am getting married people won't equally buy my ashoebi and I replied I won't even sell ashoebi to them and she was just looking at me.

The last asoebi they brought for a traditional marriage was 2k. And I will need at least 4k to sew it. Put together is more than 10% of my salary. One other colleague confided in me that he is yet to pay for the sewing for the previous ashoebi bought

I am not against things like that... It's actually beautiful and nice. If there is extra money to spare - why not. But not trying to please people when you know it's killing you.
