PoliticsRe: Ikeja Police College Renovation Nearing Completion by coolchimex: 11:50am On May 23, 2013
GAR3TH: As good as this news is its doesn't solve any of the real problems that the police college has.

You can continue to paint the buildings with a new coat of paint, replace the roofs and plant flowers but who is to say in one year we will be back to were we were before, with another degraded police college.

The main problem with the college was not the infrastructure but rather the incompetent college administration leaders who were suppose to keep the college from degrading and failed.

Why are they all still in their positions after failing to live up to their responsibilities. Renovation of the college is good and I appreciate it but I do not like that the people who caused this did not get charged or fired.

Only in Nigeria will a gun be charged with murder while the killer walks away free.

If you want to know who the corrupt police officers responsible for the decay are, do this: go through the training school's chronicle of command for the past 30yrs, find out who the Commandant is, also find out who were the Ogas in charge of Works/Maintenance/Engineering for the past 30 yrs. The govt always releases maintenance grant annually through defence budgets but the school Commandant and Works/Maintenance/Engineering police officer do kill and divide of the maintenance grant. If you can do the digging, you will know who is to blame.
CultureRe: The Most Ridiculous Bride Price You Have Ever Heard? by coolchimex: 7:52am On May 16, 2013
Only a greedy family will ask for so much just because you want to marry their daughter while a reasonable family won't suck you dry. Do you know that in Igboland, some families of the bride contribute money for the girls marriage? (Mine is an example). It is simple, if their demand is too high Waka! When nobody comes for their daughter, na dem go call you with beg to come carry their pikin go. (By d way, in the old days was laptop, modem, ipad etc in existence for families to be asking for such?) I wonder if such families do not know that there is life after after marriage. Also, some guys like to show off as if they are wealthy when they are not thereby making the family have a wrong estimation of his wealth. Also, in some families; marriage involves the extended family and for reasons bordering on wickedness or whatever, they tax the suitor so high he is discouraged. Anyways, women are not commodities; they are human beings and their happiness should be paramount in the parent's minds.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Soldiers Beat-Up Transport Union Official Over Dues by coolchimex: 5:42pm On May 14, 2013
If you live in lagos, you must have witnessed what those touts do to the transporters; they can be very heartless. I guess the soldier wanted to teach him a lesson but took it a bit too far. Oga Soldier, next time just give am soft touch chikena!

Christianity EtcRe: Fellow Christians: What Is Happening To Us? by coolchimex: 10:44am On Feb 18, 2013
Bros, God bless you richly. I have been observing this trend for a long time and when i speak out, they say "Touch not the lord's anointed, ...." or "Let God deal with him" and other funny lines. The Nigerian economic situation has made some people to lose their common senses; even if you give to God in a church, you must work hard, be diligent and have a trustworthy character to make it and not by just sitting down and HAVING FAITH. I shall be following your posts from now on, God bless once more.
Christianity EtcRe: Guess Who This Armed Dude Was Protecting. Pic by coolchimex: 9:24am On Jul 28, 2011
The weapon that man is carrying looks like the standard issue rifle of the SSS and he was carrying such in a HOT ZONE (JOS) guarding a man (VIP) who came to visit victims of crisis. Do you think such a person would do otherwise, even though he's a man of God? C'mon get real. Man of God or not, would you go to such a place just like that? Think am now!
PoliticsRe: What Is The Fastest Way To Rise In Rank In The Nigerian Army? by coolchimex: 5:01pm On Jul 21, 2011
There are several ways of being a commissioned officer in the Armed Forces:
1. NDA Cadetship (Regular Combatant Commission).

2. Short Service Commission (for Graduates, u hv 2 convert to Regular Combatant Commission in 4 - 8 yrs or u r retired).

3. Direct Short Service Commission (for Specialist Graduates eg Doctors, Lawyers, Nurses etc, u also hv 2 convert in 4 - 8 yrs to Direct Regular Commission or u r retired).

4. Executive Commission (for Sgts and above in the other rank cadre who have served for 12 yrs+, acquired experience and attended their career courses).

Sir, getting to the top is PARTLY by knowing people, passing yr career courses WELL, d content of yr military records and hardwork. Added to this is yr performance in the execution of tasks and intelligence. The mil is not 4 evry1 (bcse of d nature of d job), Quota system starts affecting from d rank of Colonel upwards; reason why some do not go beyond that rank. Quota System is d equal representation of Senior Offrs in rank and appts fm d geopolitical zones; Odum, U seem intrsted, go 4 it and if u encounter stress just know dt such is normal. It makes u stronger (TRUELY). Gd Luck. Ignore some of the senseless inputs fm people who don't know Jack abt d military.

PoliticsRe: Buhari Opts Out Of Council Of State's Meeting by coolchimex: 3:19am On Jun 30, 2011
In 2007 (or thereabout), Buhari said that if he loses; he will bring out his Hausa kindred to fight for him. He was shouted down and every1 4got abt it. The same shit reappeared again in 2011, this time practically. Also, he won't be contesting for the presidency again abi? Do you think such a sore loser would even think of attending Council of State meeting, sit and meet eye to eye with GEJ? Not at all Sir! Btw, Buhari u were a president 1ce; e no do u? Abeg comot 4 road make person c better tin. Bad Loser, Mtscheww.

RomanceRe: Is It Possible? (I'm 16, She's 16, We're JAMBites. Will We Make It?) by coolchimex: 2:53am On Jun 30, 2011
Jeff, falling in love is a sweet thing; being a successful graduate + having a job and still maintaining yr love is better. What about this: Take d relationship on d low, low for now (No sex); work harder @ yr studies, when u graduate, take it (the relationship) a little higher; when u get a job, stabilize then MARRY HER! Young men nowadays grow up faster than we did, I will neither condemn nor discourage u. But maintain the above mentioned FOCUS! And u'll be happy. Gd Luck sweetie. wink wink wink
