DieRich5:This guy looks way too cool to be Takemichi |
GRIMMJOE:This nigga spitting facts |
Kaycee7:Gojo is too OP pls nerf. |
Kaycee7:I'll let Kitagawa Marin dominate my season, every season. Picked this manga up before it got licensed. Its title was Sono Bisque Doll before it got changed to My Dress Up Darling which I think is a far worse title. It's a pretty good romcom although the romantic elements take a backseat to detailing cosplay subculture. The main characters have great chemistry. Gojo (the only Gojo that matters) is the weird genius artist and Marin is the catalyst who beings out his best. Likewise, Marin is an otaku nerd and Gojo brings out her best. Yup, me likey this one. |
Kaycee7:Let's face it, like half of the audience is watching because of the lewds. Also, I'm pretty sure that the artist drew the scene below wanting it to be animated.

Seems like the Akebi's Sailor Uniform anime has premiered. Kind of mixed bag to me, the manga is mostly a wholesome CGDCT slice of life story of girls in middle school—then BOOM!—fan service outta nowhere. It always creeps up on you fromout of left field and kills the wholesome vibe. It's not bad but the mangaka is definitely enjoying his drawings of 12-year-old girls a little too much. Maybe that's why I haven't caught up. Speaking of CGDCT, I'm still excited for GGWP though, it has less fan service, more Yuri subtext, and way more gaming |
nani667:Oh man, I looked for this manga everywhere last year to no avail and now it gets an anime? I feel cheated. |
Rent-a-girlfriend Spoilers Ahead. Guy are losing their minds over the main character's lack of development after hundreds of chapters. Turns out that our mc, who has a gf mind you, pops a boner while fantasizing about the main chick getting boned by other guys. Why is he still the same incel that he was in chapter 1? Why does the author feel the need to insert his NTR fetish into his romcom manga? Why? Why? Why? This is kinda sad because I had high hopes for the anime. |
nani667:Some anime have handled gay relationships well. For example, well... um.... Anyway, that's why editors exist—to help curb the excesses of writers. I mean, imagine if Stephen King had listened to his editor when writing 'It', then we won't have been subjected to a bunch of 12-year-olds running a train on their female friend and the world would've been better off. Not saying Kishi would've certainly messed Naruto up with a pairing like that but what reader wants their shonen manga to turn into Killing Stalking-tier fujo bait? If it can be done subtly like Shion x Yayoi, then idgaf but just imagine your MCs turning into Puri Puri Prisoner halfway through the manga. |
Baddestguyp:Akira be like: Hmm, I'm starting to think that maybe this guy who shot at people with automatic weapons, stabbed and slashed random partygoers with a broken bottle, wanted to kill my childhood friend and love interest may not actually be a good guy but let's not jump to conclusions yet. |

1.2% death rate. Why are we trying to mandate vaccines, again? |

nani667:If you put Zero Two in a hijab does she technically become legal? |
Meksbig:Nice list. I didn't really see much in 2021 'cause it was a pretty stressful one for me. I also definitely didn't watch a lot of new stuff but here's my list: - JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 4 - Heion Sedai Idaten-Tachi - Shadows House (manga is much better, though) - Ijiranainade Nagatoro-san (manga is also better) - Kaguya-Sama: Love is War (finally pulled the trigger because of the hype, it lives up to it) - Rent-a-Girlfriend (exceeded my expectations, this sh*t bumps) - |
IMAliyu:I mean, the ending had some good qualities. The character was solid until the end, every single main character got a satisfying ending (or death). I just wish I could say the same for the plot. The yandere (((individual))) who wanted to fvck/marry/kill Gabimaru, and basically that entire ninja+samurai arc were pretty underwhelming. It really seemed like Yuji Kaku just wanted to get things moving, end the manga and get it over with. |
We made it boys! Happy New Year ('Boys' also includes girls)

So this isn't a review or anything but I recently just finished binge-reading Oshi no Ko. It's written by Aka Akasaka (of Kaguya: Love is War) and drawn by Mango Yokoyara (Scum's Wish). It basically follows the drama that goes on the background of the Japanese celebrity and idol scene. Now, I've always been aware of the toxicity of Japanese fandoms to some extent but for those who aren't, this is a good place to start. I won't go into much detail but this is some good stuff. If you haven't read it and are looking for something to read, consider checking this one out.

Hohenheim:To be fair, the TYBW arc was really, really good at first. |
nani667:Tags from that title alone: netorare, incest, inseki |
What hentai does to a mf

KUNZEH:Bro it's just one person's opinion, it's not that deep. There's no need to run away from the question like a little b*tch. |
IMAliyu:Hell's Paradise doesn't get the credit it deserves. It's only flaw was its rushed ending. |
Cousin9999:Holy crap that dude is actually a Nazi apologist. Imagine calling Japan unsafe. I mean, it definitely has its issues with racism but calling it unsafe is pure bs |
Jedi mind tricks.

Lowcostcosplay is an absolute legend |

nani667:Merry Christmas to all my weebs, degens, otakus, lolicons, men of culture, fujos, etc. It has been fun shitposting with you guys.
|
Kaycee7:You can't tell me Urahara wasn't tapping that at some point. |
Baddestguyp:The best new shonen manga never even seem to feel like shonen. Jujutsu Kaisen hesitates to fully embrace shonen tropes in it's characterisation. As a result, I have little to no emotional attachment to any of its characters despite them being technically well-written. Chainsaw Man was always just sa seinen manga hiding within the pages of a shonen magazine. Jigokuraku was so not-shonen it ended up on Jump+. The only new shonen battle manga that has the look and feel of a shonen battle manga these days is Kaiju No. 8. Maybe we should just face facts. The shonen battle manga formula is on its decline and more and more magazines are content with just churning out isekai after isekai. |
Baddestguyp:Looks clean AF. And Number One will always be a banger. |
nani667:Oh no, polygamy being depicted in a show that is set in a time and place where polygamy was acceptable! The horror! |
