Politics › Northerners Accuse Fayemi Of Executing Yoruba Agenda In Ministry Of Mines..news by Cooly100(op): 2:07pm On Nov 13, 2016
Kayode Fayemi, Minister of Mines and Steel Development, has been accused of executing a policy designed to marginalize Northerners in the ministry for the sole benefit of the Southwest geo-political zone. The accusation was contained in a public petition addressed to President Muhammad Buhari.

yode Fayemi, Minister of Mines and Steel Development, has been accused of executing a policy designed to marginalize Northerners in the ministry for the sole benefit of the Southwest geo-political zone.

The accusation was contained in a public petition addressed to President Muhammad Buhari.

Signed by Joshua Yilnung and Halidu Gimba, the petition called on the President to stop the minister's undisguised nepotism and sectionalism in the ministry before they cause greater disharmony.

According to the petitioners, Dr. Fayemi, in concert with ethnic affiliates in the ministry, is working on a plot to implicate Directors-General of Northern extraction in the ministry. The aim of the plot, explained the petitioners, is to create vacancies in their positions to be filled by people from the southwest, where the minister hails from.

"Indeed Nigerians of other extractions do not find favor in the Ministry of Mines and Steel other than southwesterners," alleged the petition.

he D-G of the Jos-based National Metallurgical Development Centre has been battling with crisis at the center. The crisis is alleged to have been instigated by Dr. Fayemi, who was said to have pushed some staff to write a petition containing 17 workers' union issues against the DG, who was not even served the petition.

However, only three of the issues were related to the union, while the others were "frivolous" and were meant to be used by Dr. Fayemi to remove the DG and replace him with a Yoruba man.

"The management crises, sectionalism and nepotism are detailing the ministry from its core objectives and making a mockery of the anti-corruption fight by the present administration and are injurious to the country's unity and national cohesion," the petitioners argued.

I am having a good laugh here at how ipobs are salivating and falling over each other on a purported alliance with Buhari and APC. And seriously, it's really amusing considering all the cries about Buhari hating the Ibos and killing ipobs like flies. Beside, Ipobs are the ones known for crying over everything historically. They are the perpetual cry babies of Nigeria politics.

Who has political alignments helped...? All people should go apart in some kind of autonomy and develop at their own pace. This will bring faster development and competition...I don't like Nigeria the way it is presently structured...You have to go to Abuja to get foreign loans to develop your region and state.. You have to go to Abuja to beg to repair federal assets in your state...Abuja has all the powers to invest in any region it wants to the detriment of others...Abuja has too much power and is stifling the growth of states and regions...

The northern political establishment working for the consolidation of the Presidency of General Muhammadu Buhari is set for a major alliance with the South East political class in a shift aimed at tackling the collapse of the North/South West alliance that brought him to power.

As a direct response to this development, a rally in support of the APC National Leader, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, holds in Lagos today, even as one of the organisers described the event as a “show of force” to send a message to the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership about where the South West caucus of the party stands.

Leaders of the PDP in the legislature and some key members of the party’s National Caretaker Committee were spotted at the meeting held in Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.

It was learnt that a former presiding officer in the National Assembly is fast-tracking the relationship that would ensure that the South East replaces the South West in the political arrangement ahead of the 2019 elections.

The recent appointment of former Senate President Ken Nnamani, as the chairman of the Constitution and Electoral Reform Committee by the president is also believed to be in furtherance of the new friendship between political leaders in the zone and certain northern leaders.

Also, during the week, President Buhari met senators from the South East, led by Deputy Senate President Ike Ekeweremadu, for several hours in the Villa where the senators reportedly told him the grievances in their zone against the North and his presidency.

“The plot is very simple and direct”, said a source who confirmed that the push is to ensure a conciliatory relationship between the Buhari camp and the South East, once the leaders of the South East are able to eke out some promises from the president, which would become the selling points for him in the zone ahead of the next election.

“But a major aspect of the deal is the push that could see the South East producing a key member of the next government, using a former lawmaker who is seen as having played a major democratic role in the past”, the source said.

Alliance against South West will fail

Speaking with Saturday Tribune on Friday, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, National Coordinator, Committee for Democracy and Rights of the People, said whatever alliance or alignment between the North and the South East against the South West would collapse because, as he put it, most of the political players in the North did not believe in righteousness.

He also said any attempt to rubbish the South West in the alignment would collapse like a pack of cards, noting that “whoever seeks to underestimate the Yoruba race would be doing so at his or her detriment. If they think they can underestimate the Yoruba race, they are joking.

“Yoruba elevated former President Goodluck Jonathan to become the president but when he started behaving funny, where did he end up? He saw the consequences. Those who ventured into attempting to rubbish the Yoruba lost out completely. If anybody now thinks in the same direction, they will also disgrace themselves at the end of the day. No region can entirely be on its own without the Yoruba. No region can dare it”.

“Those who made election easy for Buhari in the South West in 2015 have been short-changed and the virus is spreading fast. The problem of the North is that they don’t consider national interest. Having lost power several years ago, they now see in the Buhari administration an opportunity to come into reckoning. No matter the marriage you have with them, such cannot last because they don’t believe in righteousness

"Equity with common sense..." I am hearing this for the first time. The citizens don't need to have common sense to have equity...The demand for Biafra was because of continuous marginalization by the central government since after the war. Yes. The article shot at two birds with one stone. It shamed the fg dat the state had to intervene on the failed portion of the old enugu onitsha road. This is road which was abandoned wen the enugu onitsha expressway was constructed. . Now people had to go back to thr vomit because of the failed expressway. . This said road also failed due to increased usage. .
This article addressed the claim by the Federal Government that they repaired the Enugu-Onitsha expressway. The commissioner begged the fg to come work on the expressway. The same expressway federal government claimed they fixed. .
Why go such a Shameful route. The federal government should know the 5% re not as daft as his 97% zombies. . They should work hard on the propaganda and lies. Its not sailing
Here is d article. Read again.
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has commenced the rehabilitation of failed portions of the old Enugu-Onitsha road with the sum of N783 million, the state Commissioner for Information, Dr Godwin Udeuhele, has said.
Addressing newsmen on Thursday on the outcome of the state executive council meeting held on Wednesday night, Udeuhele said that the move was due to the hardship commuters were facing on the road.
He said that the contract, which covered three kilometers of the 9th Mile-Udi-Oji River-Ugwuoba road, was awarded to ANBEEZ Nig. Ltd.
The commissioner said that several earth-moving machines were already on site.
He said that the attention of the state government was drawn to the deplorable nature of the road, which he said, had threatened to cut the state off from Anambra.
He said that economic activities between the two sister states were brought to a halt due to the deplorable condition of the road.
The commissioner said that the complete failure of the dual carriage Enugu-Onitsha expressway had made all vehicles to ply the old road, thereby causing failure of many portions of the road.
“This is sequel to the hardship caused by the deplorable nature of the road arising from heavy traffic occasioned by the impassable nature of the Enugu-Onitsha expressway,” he said.
“The entire length of the road covers 9th Mile-Udi-Oji River-Ugwuoba, but we are working at the border between Enugu and Anambra states which has failed,” he said.
Udeuhele said that the state government, had three years ago, invested N4.794 billion on the road, stressing that the state had never neglected its portion of the old road.
“The state government did some work on that particular section, but it got bad again when the volume of traffic increased as a result of the complete failure of the Enugu-Onitsha express road,” he said.
He said that government was moved to commence work on the road in spite of its lean resources since that was the only road that linked traders from Enugu and Ebonyi to the main market in Onitsha.
The commissioner appealed to the Federal Government to listen to the cries of the masses and rehabilitate Enugu-Onitsha expressway, which he said, had been neglected for more than 15 years.
“Our traders and indeed, other business people move their goods on daily basis through that road and we don’t want to hinder the commercial activities going on in Onitsha.
“The Federal Government should expedite action on the Enugu-Onitsha expressway because we understand the contract has been awarded. They should do their own part,” Udeuhele said.
