I agree with some of these points, but I think a few of them are presented too absolutely. Life, relationships, business and family don't always work in black and white.

1. Don't allow anyone to exploit you financially, but don't confuse employment with profit-sharing.
An employee doesn't necessarily have to share in a company's profits to deserve fair pay. At the same time, employers are allowed to struggle, make losses and control their costs. The real issue is whether the agreed salary is fair for the work being done. If it isn't, negotiate or leave.

2. There is absolutely no shame in honest work.
If a legitimate hustle feeds you, pays your bills and keeps you independent, do it with your chest. But don't romanticise struggling either. The goal should be to earn honestly while continuously improving your financial position.

3. Having children with multiple women can create serious complications, but the problem isn't simply the number of women.
The real issue is responsibility. A man who has children must be emotionally, financially and physically present in their lives. Whether he has one partner or more, irresponsible parenting can produce regret and broken relationships.

4. Being financially responsible isn't the same thing as being stingy.
However, don't use "people are just calling me stingy" as an excuse to become selfish. Learn the difference between generosity, financial discipline and unnecessary spending. You can have a good heart and still have boundaries.

5. University should be taken seriously, but let's stop turning academic success into a gender competition.
Some students, male and female, are focused; others aren't. Some are brilliant, some struggle, and some discover their strengths outside the classroom. Encourage young men to study, build skills, network and prepare for life—but don't teach them that women are the competition.

6. Living with someone you're not married to isn't automatically a mistake.
People have different circumstances. What matters is whether both adults understand the arrangement, contribute fairly, respect each other and have clearly defined boundaries. Marriage isn't the only thing that makes two adults capable of living responsibly together.

7. Supporting someone else's education doesn't automatically mean you're sponsoring another man's wife.
You can support a sibling, friend, relative, mentee or even someone you simply believe deserves an opportunity. The key is to give without creating an unhealthy sense of ownership or expecting romantic/sexual returns.

8. Respect your mother's advice, but don't outsource your marriage to your mother.
She may have valuable experience and genuinely want the best for you. But ultimately, you're the one who will live with your spouse. Listen carefully, investigate concerns objectively, pray/reflect if that's important to you, and make your own informed decision.

9. This one deserves emphasis.
Excessive alcohol, drug use and poor nutrition can have serious consequences. Take care of your body while you're young. You don't want to spend your later years trying to repair damage that could have been prevented.

10. Financial stability matters in marriage, but don't make the mistake of believing you must become rich before you can marry.
Marriage requires maturity, responsibility, communication and a realistic financial plan. There are people who married young and built together successfully, just as there are financially comfortable people whose marriages collapsed.

The bigger lesson for young men is this:

Don't live your life based on pressure, ego, lust, comparison or the need to impress people. Build yourself. Protect your finances. Choose your friends and partners carefully. Take responsibility for your decisions. And most importantly, learn to think for yourself.

Not every piece of advice needs to be accepted wholesale simply because it came from someone older or more experienced. Take the wisdom, question the assumptions, and apply what actually makes sense to your life.

However, 40% of those exports now bypass the Strait of Hormuz, compared with 17% before the war, with pipelines in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates providing key alternative routes. Most crude crossing the strait changes tankers offshore.

The figures cover crude oil and condensate.

The export figures include shipments via the Red Sea, which exporters increasingly use to bypass Iran’s attempted blockade of Hormuz. Around a fifth of the world’s oil supplies passed through the strait before the conflict.

Oil prices remain well above their pre-war levels. International benchmark Brent crude futures for December delivery traded at $102.25 a barrel on Monday morning, while US benchmark West Texas Intermediate traded at $90.50 a barrel.

Brent futures were around $72 before the war. The disruption to shipping through the strait has sent shock waves through the global economy, prompting countries to scramble for alternatives and sending fuel prices soaring.

Iran continues to claim control over the waterway, and ships travelling without its authorisation risk attack. Nevertheless, more vessels are getting through, while alternative routes are operating at full capacity.

Despite the recovery in exports, experts warned that conditions remained far from normal. A US blockade of Iranian ports continues to restrict a large share of Iran’s own oil exports.

Saudi Arabia has benefited from the reopening of its East–West pipeline, which connects its main oil fields in the east to the Red Sea terminal at Yanbu, bypassing Hormuz.

The pipeline shut down on 11 September after strikes launched from Iraq and resumed operations on 22 September, Kpler analyst Amena Bakr said last week.

The UAE also has a route around Hormuz through its pipeline linking Abu Dhabi’s oil fields to Fujairah, a terminal on the Gulf of Oman outside the strait.

The recovery in exports comes as the seven core members of OPEC+, which comprises the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies, including Russia, agreed on Sunday to leave their production targets unchanged for November, in line with expectations.

The seven countries produced about 25 million barrels of crude oil a day in August, up 630,000 barrels a day from July, according to OPEC’s September report.
