I understand the reason some Yoruba would not allow the twisters of history to get away with self serving fallacy of Awo's intentions towards Igbo or Ojukwu.

How many times are you going to lie about who released Awo? Newspapers of the day were posted here, Awo's letter to Ironsi were posted here and many more. Yet, Nzeogwu was freed in the East as a killer of Northern and Western leaders while Awo remained in prison until Gowon gained power and freed him!

You people nor dey shame?

Tomorrow another lier is going to come and repeat the same lie to feel good. Then cry about how Awo did not feed them so that they could take over Ore, abi na Lagos.

OBJ, the most detribilized Nigerian as you called him when he brought you out of your shell into powerful positions is now your enemy.

20 pounds Awo gave you when school certs holders were making 14 pound ten is now a curse. Up till today we did not know why Awo did not give the same to those Biafra soldiers maimed and killed in old Rivers, Midwest, bombing victims in Hyde park Lagos etc.

Dis Awo sef, taya me no be small o.

Those people are mumu cyborgs.

Politics / Re: Sunday Igboho Chickens Out Of Lagos Mega Rally, Goes Into Hiding by Cosbyrich: 8:06pm On Jul 01, 2021
ICTNetworldNg:
The Yoruba activist Sunday Adeyemo (also known as Sunday Igboho) has withdrawn from the proposed Yoruba Nation mega rally scheduled for Saturday, July 3, 2021, at Ojota Lagos.

This is gathered from a source close to his camp that he had gone into hiding.

“He is no longer in Oyo State, I spoke with his people. Expectedly, they didn’t disclose his location.

“The federal government turned the heat on Igboho to stop the July 3 rally. This has been well established”, he said.

Recall that an attack on him in the early hours of Thursday left seven people dead, several wounded with an unknown number of persons missing alongside Igboho’s wife.

The leader and coordinator of all the groups agitating for Yoruba Nation ‘Ilana Omo Oodua’, Emeritus Professor Banji Akintoye, had accused the Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government of being responsible for the early dawn attack.

The vocal agitator has been leading processions to demand the break out of the South-West from Nigeria.

Yoruba Nation rallies have already been held in other states in the region. It is believed Igboho eventually backed down to avoid arrest.

His fears reportedly heightened after Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) was apprehended in Kenya.

Igboho told BBC Pidgin that two people died and several others were still missing after the raid in the Soka area.

“I dey my house around 1:30 AM. I just hear gunshot for front of my house and shout say, we be DSS, we be soja, Sunday Igboho come out

“Wetin I dey do na to fight for my pipo, my rally dey peaceful. I fight for my family (Yoruba) becos Fulani bandits kill, rape dem. Goment refuse to do di right tin, dat na why I come out”, he said.

His words come after a statement by the umbrella body of Yoruba self-determination groups, Ilana Omo Oodua, declared that the Yoruba Nation mega rally slated for Lagos will hold on Saturday as scheduled.

The statement was signed by its leader, Emeritus Professor Banji Akintoye, and made available to newsmen by his Communications Manager, Mr. Maxwell Adeleye.

“We want to confirm again that the Pro-Yoruba Nation mega rally scheduled to hold on Saturday, July 3rd, in Lagos will proceed as scheduled” the statement read in part.

You don't need to lie and be grumbling about like a headless chicken just to hide your shame.

Let's even assume that you're right about ibadan being developed very early, then why did it stagnate and rot to its present pitiable state? Kano is far older than your so-called ancient of days ibadan yet it has evolved to a modern and presentable city, why did ibadan fail to do so?

Ibadan is the best yoruba town yet it is nothing but a glorified large slum, filled with wretched mud houses, rusted roofs and dingy neighborhoods.

Aba is not even a state capital and has never been any capital of sorts yet it beats ibadan that has been your regional and state capital even before indepence.

Aba is a city that was self made and grew to become reverred as a centre of commerce and of industry with massive production of consumer goods that can rival the Asians! We have popular Aba made products same way we Taiwan and Chinese made products. Is there anything known as ibadan made products?

You don't even know how shameful it is that a random city in Igboland is beating your poster boy hands down grin grin

Continue to deceive yourself when you all continue to roll in poverty.
It will take a thousand years before SE can be as developed as Ibadan is now..
It is not a mistake when UNDP,NBS and World Bank said SE is the most poverty stricken in the South and Yorubas are the richest in Nigeria.

Wake me up when you have anything close to this in Igboland...

10 POPULAR ESTATES IN IBADAN WHERE THE RICH LIVE
written by City People Property Market
October 9, 2017

Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State, is presently enjoying a serious boom in the real estate sector of the state. There has been an impressive turnaround in the sector unlike before. The obvious evidence of this development is how major players in the industry are now coming to Ibadan, to tap into the limitless opportunities the city can offer because the environment is peaceful and quite cheaper to run a business compared to Lagos and Abuja.

Though most of them have their offices in those aforementioned places but the land seems to be greener in Ibadan; there are so many lands and new areas to develop. That was the potential the likes of Alhaji Tunde Ologburo’s Quikborn Nig. Ltd; Otunba Olumide Oshunshina and his Megamund Nig. Ltd (Carton Gate Estates) and few others saw long before now to have hugely invested in Ibadan real estate sector. Before Adron Homes & Properties and others lately joined the fray, they have all contributed to the development of that sector in building serene, classy estates with irresistible amenities which can be bought at reasonable prices, depending on one’s level and taste. This is in addition to the existing Government Reser ved Areas/Estates and privately owned estates.

We also have other developers in Ibadan apart from the popular ones that are doing wonderfully well in the industry too. Out of these estates however, there are some that are very popular. Those that you don’t have to live in Ibadan to reckon with.

While some of them are old estates built by the government, some are newly developed estates with master piece architectural designs. But guess what? Some of these estates don’t come cheap, they are exclusively for the super rich and influential personalities. In this special report however, City People Correspondent, Dare Adeniran presents to you 10 most popular estates where the rich live in Ibadan and why they are the most talked about. Read on.

OKE AGALA ESTATE

The total turnaround story of Oke-Agala Estate located at the notorious Igbo-Agala Yemetu area of Ibadan which used to serve as hideout of hoodlums, ritualists and men of the underworld, is quite an interesting one. Now it has been fully developed and a plot of land is sold there as high as over 20 million naira. It is a well structured estate with good road network and several amenities.

IKOLABA GRA

This is one of the few government reserved areas where the rich and powerful celebrities live in Ibadan. It is highly exclusive for people who can afford it. This is where we have Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Secretariat, National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and others.

IYAGANKU GRA

Iyaganku G.R.A is exclusive for super rich and powerful people. It is a residential neighbourhood with breathtaking structures. This is where the likes of Chief Kola Daisi, Chief Bayo Adelabu, Senator Folarin and many influential people live in Ibadan. Glo Chairman, Chief Mike Adenuga also has his home (Gold Digger’s Place) within the estate. Many expertrates also live there. In fact, Iyaganku G.R.A is called billionaire G.R.A in Ibadan, with high tech infra structural facilities including a fully armed neighbourhood police station.

ALALUBOSA GRA

It won’t be out of line to describe Alalubo as Magodo of Ibadan. The estate is famous for being a place for the classy people. The selling point of the place, apart from the beautiful landscape, is the fact that it has large coverage areas, which now house many privately-owned estates, thereby making properties in this area a hot cake, as a plot of land is sold as high as 25 million naira, while landed property with structure goes for 35 to 40 million naira.

KOLAPO ISHOLA ESTATE

This is another fast developing estate near Akobo/General Gas axis. Though it was abandoned for many years but the estate has bounced back and it has since become developers’ favourite construction site, due to its location and space. Both land and developed property have turned gold here. Selling point of the estate however is the fact that its main road leads back to Dizzengolf, along Iwo-road. A plot land with C of O Title in this estate can’t be sold for less than 12 million naira.

AERODROME ESTATE

When the former Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, proposed to convert the then abandoned Samonda local airport to a housing estate, many came against the idea but today the place has risen to become one of the most expensive and fast growing estates in Ibadan. At the initial stage, a plot of land was sold for about 3 million. But now the same land goes for between 15, 17 and 30 million, depending on location and sizes. Aerodrome GRA is a hot cake due to its location; it is on a well tarred major road, along Ojo Express road and a few metres away from the University of Ibadan. Privately owned estates are also springing up within the estate almost everyday.

JERICHO

This is another government-owned estate in Ibadan and its existence is dated back to the colonial era. But now many new structures are springing up every now and then. In fact, Odua group, in partnership with a privately owned real estate company, recently constructed two beautiful estates within the estate.

ONIREKE GRA

Though it is a mixture of rich individuals living in Onireke GRA but the estate is known to be populated by Lebanese in Ibadan and that has been the case for a very long time now, perhaps because of its closeness to Dugbe (Central Business District) where most of their companies/businesses are located. It is a fully developed high brow/low density residential hub. Land or property here is quite expensive too.

AGODI GRA

Apart from being a residential estate for the powerful people, Agodi GRA prides itself as a clean and serene environment. In fact, it could be best described as the seat and home of power. This is where the Oyo State Secretariat, Governor’s office and house, the Deputy Governor’s house and the First Lady’s office, Army Officers Mess are all located. It also has the prominent Justice Wale Babalakin crescent where a plot of land goes for 50 million and above.

BODIJA ESTATE

Bodija is one of the oldest and most popular estates in Ibadan. It has old and new sides mostly with old structures, especially the old Bodija side. New Bodija is an improved phase of the the estate with mind-blowing structures. What however can’t be taken away from the estate is the fact that it is a peaceful, cool area for some highly placed people in the society. Bodija is fully occupied and one can hardly get free land except for the very few transfers from old owners. A property here costs nothing less than 25 to 30 million naira.

AKOBO ESTATE

This estate is no doubt one of the biggest in Ibadan; it has many phases within it. There is General Gas, Akala Way and other privately developed estates within it. Here you see master piece structures just like the other high tech estates around and property/land doesn’t come cheap there. A plot of land goes for 20 million naira and above, depending on the part of the estate. Akobo, especially the Akala Way, started enjoying massive boom when ex-Gov. Adebayo Alao Akala upgraded the road that links Kute, Olorunda back to Akobo-Ojurin. Hence the raod was named “Akala Way”. Akobo has also become real estate investors’ favourite site as it now houses many privately developed estates.

The sw should not b comparing itself to the east because that's simply embarrassing and shows that the sw has failed. How can u compare the sw to a region that was destroyed during the civil war and still they were able to catch up to you and the rest of the country. That's simply embarrassing. Its like the north that did not witness disruption to schooling or destruction of educational facilities but today is still ranked as educationally disadvantaged states whereas the east that no schooling took place during the war and almost 3 years after the war is not ranked educationally disadvantaged. That's simply embarrassing

We only compare Ibadan to the SE because it is more developed than the entire SE infrastructurally and posting the old part of Ibadan does not take this fact away.

USA has slums but bigger and more developed than UK that does not.
Lagos has slums but more developed than all the states in Nigeria including Abuja.

Ibadan has slums but has more than 10 GRAs..the highest in Nigeria and more modern houses than SE,2 standard stadia, highest number of research institutions and educational institutions after Ogun and Lagos ,highest number of mega malls after Lagos etc
SE has slums, lots of brown roofs, less infrastructures, less roads, less modern houses, less higher institutions, less GRAs etc.

Ibadan is more developed than the entire SE even with its old part and this is a fact.

If Yoruba's are sure of there prowess let them clamour for a separate nation so we can compete favourably, No be to dey hide under Lagos wey be state capital for donkey years.

I guess Abuja is better than Enugu because of there indigenes too

The south east to the glory of God is a self made region yet it beats the west hands down minus Lagos. Travel una no go gree!!

How can a poor Igboland beat even Ogun state only when Ogun state is more developed than any 2 states from Igboland and remember that Ibadan is more developed than the entire Igboland.

You only outclassed in petty trading which has made your SE region the poorest in the South and the least with IGR.None of your states can stand alone as they all cling to the FG feeding bottle tenaciously.
Petty trading does not grow an economy.Reason SE is backward and poor.
Yorubas control the economy of Nigeria with their massive industries.Yorubas have the highest number of indigenous industries
both in Nigeria and abroad.
Yorubas have always been the ones to beat even as they were marginalised against for decades in opposition by the Igbos and the Hausas.

An igbo man can have a capital of 500k but he is given goods of 5 million by the igbo supplier ...his per unit cost has dropped ..he can out compete his Yoruba competition that has a capital of 1 million by selling cheaper and faster reason u see them opening multiple shops

Name just only one company...na only one I say o....that an Igbo man has in the entire North.

I don't know of other regions.

BUT not SOUTHWEST cool

Economy is not only buying and selling of electronics, and second hand phones and parts.

For every Igbo man selling any of those in any towns SW, there are hundreds of hundreds selling similar in The same town.

I don't know why people think economy is solely based on Buying and selling of second hand clothes and spare parts.

Who controls the Music, Movies, Arts, Education, Plywoods, Techs, ICT, ceramics, Building materials, Tourism, Agriculture etc?

Lol, ECONOMICS should be a major.course to be studied in South East

The greatest Nigerians in business in the olden days and in recent times....not petty traders....
have always been Yorubas both in Nigeria and abroad.

I don't think you know the meaning of the word
"COWORD"

If you remember Ojukwu of the Ivory Coast fame, then you dont need a dictionary to know the meaning of Coward again.
