I think Governors can afford to give us social benefits like free Ride,

Kudos to the FG for the 50% slash in transport fares and the 100% free train transportation all over the nation. This is targeted at the masses and I think Gov. Sanwo Olu (and other governors) should specially emulate this in Lagos
These kind of gestures are greatly appreciated
by the masses, majority of whom are feeling the sharp bite of the subsidy removal.

You actually think the Europeans in Isreal today have more in common with the Biblical Isrealites than Ndigbo............Oga go and read and get educated ,you sound so ignorant!
Please sir,Igbos have no relationship with Israel. The simple proof without looking at the other proofs is the fact that Igbos were still walking naked up till 1959.
No black Jew like the Ethiopians ever did that because Jews just like Arabs have been civilised a long time ago.

Because the Igbos are also connected with the Jews if the Jews take down Nairaland, we should blame the Igbos, they are the Jews we have in Nigeria.
Stop this nonsense.

There are lots of proofs.
It has been proven.
They have nothing in common with the Jews like the Ethiopians.

SW has the largest immigrants of poor people besieging it from all regions of Nigeria everyday because it is the most viable and richest.
Al of these people are counted as SW poor.
If they use ethnicity,Yorubas will be far,far greater than Igbos.
Even during regionalism when you have not exported your poverty to the SW,Yorubas were by far the richest.
Ibadan was the richest place followed by all other Yoruba places.

Benwallt:
The President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide, Emanuel Iwuanyanwu, has advised Igbos whose houses were demolished in the Abule Ado area of Lagos not to cry over the development.
He asserted that the Federal Government has the right to demolish buildings for the public interest.

He, however, insisted that those affected should be compensated.

The Ohanaeze chieftain urged those whose buildings were demolished not to cry over spilt milk, adding that moves are being made to mitigate aggrieved Igbos nationwide.

Iwuanyanwu stated this during his visit to grieve with the Igbos in the community.

He said, “The government has the right to demolish for public interest, but the affected citizens should be compensated. There’s no need to cry over split milk.

“in any country, citizens’ rights are sacred, Senator Umeh has briefed me, but I came here to know the main issue. What we are going to fight for are our rights. You only build a country based on the truth.”

Recounting his ordeal, one of the affected property owners, who preferred to remain anonymous, said, “I am unable to recover from the needles ordeal. I moved into my dream apartment, and on the third day, they came with bulldozers to bring my dream apartment down.

“There’s an urgent need for the power to address these issues.”

Responding to their grief, Chief Iwuanyanwu disclosed that Igbos in the diaspora are seriously concerned about how Igbos at home are being treated.

“We have decided to set up an Igbo relief agency where every aggrieved Igbo would be funded.

“I will also advise communities to treat Igbos fairly because we are peace loving and we are the highest indigenous people that are adding to the GDP of the nation,” he said.

Alabukun powder and the untold story behind its success.

AFRICAFROM THE ARCHIVESIN MEMORIAM By Onyinyechi Iheanacho On Jun 7, 2020

Jacob Sogboyega Odulate

Alabukun powder is one of the oldest drugs in Nigeria and even still very relevant and popular today. However, not many know the Jacob Odulate aka Blessed Jacob, a Nigerian pharmacist, inventor and entrepreneur, the brain behind the brand. The Alabukun powder is like St. Louis sugar, a product deep in Nigeria’s pop culture.

Without any advert or commercial, Alabukun remains insanely popular among generations in Nigeria. It has remained relevant through the years and it is very much a household name. The medicinal powder which is cheap was discovered by a man called Jacob Sogboyega Odulate.

He was born in 1884 in Ikorodu. When he was 14 years old, Odulate was determined to make a name for himself. He trekked from Lagos to Abeokuta in three months. He then started his pharmaceutical business in the rocky city. In 1918 Jacob Sogboyega Odulate, the Blessed Jacob, sat at the work table in his laboratory, writing notes which contained the formula for what would ultimately be known as his famous patented medicine, Alabukun Powder that is used to treat everything from a migraine to Myocardial Infarction. Odulate’s laboratory was located in Sapon, Abeokuta in Ogun state.

It was there he mixed ingredients from Liverpool which include acetylsalicylic acid and caffeine to create the powder. A packet of Alabukun is said to contain “760 mg of acetylsalicylic acid and 60 mg of caffeine making a total of 820 mg.” The success of Odulate’s drug is down to the fact that it is a mix of European and traditional medicine.

Throughout its 10 decades of existence, Alabukun has never been advertised but it is still very much in demand. One reason why Alabukun was not advertised was because of its ingredients. It would have made it impossible for it to be in commercials.

Pharmacists would have forced the drug out of business. Another reason for Alabukun not having commercials was because it was wildly popular when it came out. There was a huge demand from consumers. The enduring success of the Alabukun brand is now interwoven into the fabric of modern Nigeria medical history.

The Alabukun Powder in particular is displayed and sold in thousands of pharmacies, markets and roadside stalls all over Nigeria. In many states in Nigeria, Alabukun powder is considered to be the obligatory cure for almost every ailment.

In neighbouring countries such as Benin Republic, Ghana and Cameroon, the eye-catching Alabukun brand is to be seen advertised everywhere. Alabukun products are sold in several towns and cities in the USA, the UK, in Europe, Brazil, Jamaica, even as far away as China.

You can buy Alabukun products on-line, off-line, under-bridges and over-expressways. Apart from making the drugs, the energetic Blessed Jacob also produced other brands like Alabukun mentholine, other preparations and an annual journal called Alabukun Almanac which was widely distributed in Abeokuta and eventually all over Nigeria between the 1920s and 1950s.

He sent his children to study at some of the best universities in Durham, Newcastle, United States of America and London. Mrs. Folake Odulate (who later became Chief. Mrs. Folake Solanke) who is the first female lawyer in Nigeria to wear silk and she also became the first female Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). In 1966, she established the first law firm by a Nigerian female at Ibadan, Oyo State and named it Alabukun Chambers in honour of her great father.

Jacob Sogboyega Odulate died in 1962 at age 78. Alabukun is 102 years old this year. No Nigerian product comes to mind that is a century old and still relevant.

Felix Chidi Idiga is a Nigerian born business man from Imo State. Born on June 30th, 1963, Idiga claims that he became a billionaire in his mid-30s. He is founder and Chief Executive Officer of JAFAC Group. Based in Abuja, Idiga’s JAFAC Group deals in various government contracts and services which includes dredging, marine services, logistics, asphalt production, road construction, real estate development, offshore services, security boats services, etc.

His Link To Tinubu:
In Q3 2022, 5 months ahead of Nigeria’s presidential elections, it was alleged that Felix Chidi Idiga donated 2 private Jets to the Tinubu for President Organization. No further information was provided i.e. temporary vs permanent donation, the basis of his decision to support Tinubu or his relationship with the presidential candidate. Nonetheless, we are aware that Idiga garnered a lot of wealth through close relationships within the corridors of national power. In 2014, he was alleged to be smuggling $10million from Nigeria to South Africa as an Allie of them President Goodluck Jonathan.

https://saharareporters.com/2010/03/16/fraudulent-award-contracts-nddc-rivers-state

Specifically, we wish to condemn in very strong terms, the award of the Bonny Ring Road & Bridges Project in Rivers State to a company that has nothing to do with engineering and construction, Jafac Motors/Jafac Invetsments Ltd for the whopping sum of Eleven billion, two hundred and four million, one hundred and sixty eight thousand, twenty naira and ten kobo (N 11, 204, 168, 023.00).

This award, coming on the heels on the appointment of a Rivers man, Chibuzor Ugwoha as Managing Director of the NDDC is a slap on the face of the people of Rivers State and an insult on the efforts our forebears who fought so long to bring development to their land.

The questions are? How did a car dealer suddenly become a high profile construction company? Why was a contract of that magnitude not awarded to tested and proven companies like Reynolds Construction Company (RCC) or Setraco as Julius Berger has chosen to leave the Niger Delta? Who authorized such a contract?

What contracts of such a whopping magnitude has Jafac Motors/Investments Ltd ever done in the Niger Delta? Who is fronting for Jafac Motors/Investments Ltd? Why make Rivers state a test or playing group for dubious, up-front paying contractors?

Our dear Governor, on the behalf of the youths of Rivers State, we reject the manner of award of these contracts and declare the process as fraudulent and deceit-ridden.
