tjadeniyi: @OP I really appreciate your professional response. In your own production, do you wait for this period before you sell your products? Or you don't "cure" at all? Or you have a special way/formula for your production that require no curing? I am sorry for these questions. Thanks Reach me at "nigeriansoapie@gmail.com" |

Or you have a special way/formula for your production that require no curing? I am sorry for these questions. Thanks If you are an experienced soap maker, you don't need to wait that long. I usually wait for 5 to 7 days. If you are starting out, to be on the safer side ensure you cure for not less than 2 weeks. Soap that hasn't cure can make you gag in the shower. Thank u |

tjadeniyi: @OP You done a better presentation and probably you've empowered some people through this thread. Please you didn't not mention anything about curing with time. Please talk more on curing and time to stay during this process. Hello, If your soaps have that sharp feeling you experience when you feel your tongue on a battery cell, then it still requires curing. Curing makes your soap safe for use. In my own experience, soap with generous amount of oil requires less time to cure. If your soap is lye heavy, you will need more time to cure. Soap with lots of caustic tend to give off so much wter, you wouldn't want your soap giving off so much water when kept in stalls, so you will need 2 to 4 weeks to cure it properly before selling. Thanks |

thefirstborn: Hello OP, still need clarification on PKO.
I believe PKO exclusively is the raw oil extracted from palm nuts. Whereas, vegetable oil is a result of bleaching and heat treatment of PKO. And the later is the one we normally use in cooking. Please, correct me if I am wrong. I will attach pictures of the oil I use for you. Network is horrible for now. |

benzion72: Your level of ignorance has no limit, for you to open your mouth to condemn a company that make a profit of more than 10 billion annually. For your information take any newspaper and open to stock page and check the agriculture and commodities section compare Okomu Oil PLc with GT bank, Zenith bank. It will be a rare privilege to av a member of your family working with them.
Having said that i can see that you are unschooled and you lack flow of constructive argument. in all this thread i av not at any point pick on the personality of the op. My point is that dont paint Eldorado out of this world picture of return in soap production. People have being trading in soaps before you were born. Dont tell people good good that will not be fair just because you want to sell ebook.
I still stand on my point all picture i am seeing on this thread are internet images and the op can proof me wrong by standing with his friends in his factory with products around. or rather let people who bought ebook from op who have made 100k or a million come out with evidence.
As per frustration or envy of the op, you guy here are too small to be envied. it is only that nairaland accept all manner of age. where were you in 2000 that is the year of my NYSC thereafter i worked in one of the best bank in Nigeria for more than ten years even if i dont work again residual income from rent , dividend is more than enough for my needs Hello, I suspect you were born 1972, You are an old boy. Why are you fooling around ? what makes you think those pictures were ripped from Google images ? I should stand in my factory for thousands of people to see me ? You worked in the bank for ten years and you were relieved of your job? your rent is OK for you and you were trying to have people buy an insecticide manual from you ? You think I will upload my picture to make me feel cool about myself ? I wont do that ! |

benzion72: you make me laugh in greek. do you have any product in any Nigeria market. do you know the barrers you will cross in market like agbeni, ogunpa and gbagi all in ibadan to make your product acceptable. do you know how long it take to overcome people prejudice to new produc.
i am not here to discourage anybody. soaps business is more than downloading ebook for a fee it is a dogged fight in the market. fighting sentiment, tradition and reorienting people about the benefit of your own product. except in the northern part where you have few product. the south is saturated I now know why you hating. I went through a thread you created in 2013. You tried selling an eBook on insecticide, and you failed woefully. For the fact that you lack ideas on marketing doesn't mean others cant make exploit in soap making business. Here is your post from 2013. I can help you develop a strategy to sell you insecticide both online and offline. benzion72: Stop looking for elusive job. It is a new mounth again. Definetly you have a lot of bill to pay, feeding, laundry, power, rent, school fees etc. How long will you continue to apply and waste a lot of money on photocopy.
Think of Mosquito, cockroaches they are insect at home do you know how many billions people are making from sales of mosquito and insect repelant. Do you know you too can share from this millions. Or ask yourself, why Baygon, Raid, sheltox are still in business. This is just one example. There so many household product you can produce in your room and make money.
I will give you a manual that contain 20 products that are hot cake in the market and you can choose to produce any of the daily needs. And make money.
This is not a get rich quick method. You must be ready to work and such work include Production, Packaging and sales. You must also be ready to promote your product.
If you are intrested email me at alben2002@gmail.com In your thread of 2014, you were looking for a job at Okomu oil, when in your previous thread of 2013, you were busy telling people online to be an employer trying to sell them an eBook on insecticide and 20 other products... What a sore looser you are. I suggest you stick to what you know best, trees often transplanted seldom prosper. Thank you benzion72: Okomu Oil Plc and Presco Oil Plc are two strongest player in Nigeria Rubber and Oil Palm industry, do we have anybody who can share experience about their recruitment, employment here on Nairaland information is power thanks |

olente: @ CosmeticChemist, should I soak the caustic soda overnight or is it to be used immediately after having mixed and tested with hydrometer? Both methods are OK . When you let the caustic soda stay till the next day you get crystal clear caustic solution, but that doesn't affect the quality of the soap. Ensure you check the concentration of caustic solution and see if it corresponds to your previous hydrometer reading. |

I have over 523 shops where I supply a carton of soap every month and they are growing. I suspect your soap are of poor quality. I have been to Ibadan several times, your market is flooded with many adulterated soap that looks like a horse manure from many back yard soap makers. If that's what you think I make, then you should check my eBook. Canoe,waw,mp3 and b29 are inferior soap, they contains too much titanium dioxide. See, there is no competition in Nigeria. |

benzion72: so you do not understand that there are a million and one soaps in the market competing for customers. while i appreciate the op effort at entrepreneurship he should not paint too rosy picture to swindle the innocent one. production is so easy but sales is an Herculean task They are thousands of soap brands in US market, yet they make money. In Nigeria, we don't even have up to ten quality brands. There is no competition in Nigeria. |

Lucwaizy: Op please I have some questions for you, if I am to produce a laundry/bath soap like B29, WAW, hammer family etc of that kind, how much will it cost me?
1. How much will it cost for packaging? 2. Where can I get those nylon use in packaging?
I will like to discuss with you privately, my whatsapp contact is below Hello, 1) To package a soap like we have for Canoe, B29, WAW, you will need a flow wrap machine for sealing and wrapping. 2) You will need a stamper, to brand the soap. 3) You will need a plodder, for extruding your soap noodles. 4) will need a soap cutter in the soap production line to cut your soap into uniform bars. 5) You will require a mixer for mixing noodles with fragrances and other ingredients. Some noodles come with titanium dioxide, fragrance etc. Production lines such as these will require millions of Naira. Thank you. |

thefirstborn: I have heard so much about the profitability of soap making. Can someone please put a figure to it?
Assuming that I have the equipment needed for laundry soaps production - cold process. And I invest 10k into the production of a batch. How much on the average, can I make as profit? Rough estimation, please. 9k can get you 45 liters of PKO. If you were to sell this soap at N40 Naira each in the open market, it will fetch you 18,000 Naira, subtract your investment of 10k and you get 8k. 1k should get you caustic that can produce over 500 bars of soap. A 25kg bag of caustic is around 3,200. If you sell to shop owners at 35 naira, you get 15,750, subtract your 10k If you add fragrance, you can sell at 50 Naira each, do the math. |
