Hello OP, still need clarification on PKO.

I believe PKO exclusively is the raw oil extracted from palm nuts. Whereas, vegetable oil is a result of bleaching and heat treatment of PKO. And the later is the one we normally use in cooking. Please, correct me if I am wrong.

Let me elaborate.

vegetable oil is an oil derived from plants, e.g. rapeseed oil, olive oil, sunflower oil etc.

Palm kernel oil ( pko) Palm kernel oil is an edible plant oil derived from the kernel of the oil palm. It should not be confused with the other two edible oils derived from palm fruits: palm oil, extracted from the pulp of the oil palm fruit, and coconut oil, extracted from the kernel of the coconut.

Here in Nigeria, we refer to them as vegetable oil, but there are all different. You can use any of them to make soap.
In Northern Nigeria, ground nut oil is obtained from ground nut seeds using a seed crusher.

what we call groundnut or vegetable oil is the same as pko. I'm glad you like my thread.

I suggest you stir slowly, using a large stainless spoon. why should you use a wood to stir caustic ? didn't the caustic bleach the wood into the soap ?

Vigorous stirring ? what kind of agitator or stirrer did you use ? electric, pneumatic or manual ? Vigorous stirring can sometimes result to sudden trace.

already, making d soap very thick that i had to

Did you add fragrance oil ? some fragrance oil are notorious for causing early trace. Tell me, what is the concentration of the caustic on the hydrometer scale/calibration ?

I have bought the ebook and have read through it, very insightful I must say. I have some few questions I would like to ask from that book though. Hopefully, after I get a response for the above question, then I will ask them. For now I await your kind response. Thanks again bro.

PKO and Palm oil can be used interchangeably. But be warned that you will need to bleach your red oil and mask your soap with titanium dioxide to whiten it. Pko is a lot cheaper, do not waste your time trying to bleach palm oil, go for pko. A liter of pko is around 170 to 200 Naira while red oil is around 320 350 Naira.
