diportivo:The alarm has been sounded over and over about these Cotonou land border imports and how they're currently illegal, but there will always be people who will ignore all the red flags especially when they come across salesmen like the gentleman you mentioned who make it all seem legit. Play with fire, you're just asking to get burned. |

LordTrezy: A CLEAN TITLE ES 330 LEXUS AVAILABLE FOR SALE.Are you certain you know the difference between a Clean and a Salvage title? |
NewsAfrik:You should look up Murphy's Laws |
That's alright Sir. We can agree to disagree. |
mayor2013: ![]() There's no debate about who spotted anything first or last, you seem to be missing the point. I have merely referred to the cases you mentioned and how they have few similarities with this one. I'm not sure where the repeated 'Island of knowledge' chant comes from, but sure, if it works for you, by all means. Regarding the geographical location, The white CR-V was probably exported from Canada. The black CR-V appears to have been exported from the US I would most certainly hazard a probably accurate guess that this happened in Lagos, Nigeria. Gazzuzz already hinted at that in his first post: GAZZUZZ:The only definite unknown is the provenance of the White CR-V. |

mayor2013:The Grey Toyota Corolla with the Mexicans? That has even less in common with this case. In that case there was simply no tampering or cloning of any sort. None whatsoever. As I recall, he taunted someone, I stepped in to defend the person, he responded with false information, and everything went to hell |
mayor2013:An inquisitive mind is a brilliant mind. This is the exact post I assume you referred to: calculus×:As I stated, these are very different scenarios: He stated that the gentleman requested the VIN and it was provided, and subsequently he came to his place of business, made copies of the vehicle custom papers, and absconded, proceeding to register the vehicle illegally with the particulars and the VIN. 1. Referring to the events I described in the first 2 posts on this page, because of the level of detail in the counterfeit sticker of the White CR-V, it could only have been possible if the forger had physical possession of the original sticker from the black vehicle, and even with that, they were unable to match the font and a few other subtle features. The difference between these two scenarios is that this goes far beyond merely seeing the VIN online and copying and pasting on a vehicle, the VIN alone would not nearly be enough for this level of work. The 1D bar was duplicated. Even a photo of the VIN sticker may not be enough, unless the picture of the stamp was taken directly, not at an angle, and with a particularly high resolution camera with OIS to ensure the binary comes out perfect. What seller here bothers with that? 3. To the second issue you raised, as a matter of fact a naive but honest seller would be able to determine that there was something very amiss with the white CR-V, with a history report. Perhaps not to the level of detail I outlined above, but certainly enough to make them ask the right questions. That was where the forger in this case erred. Unlike in the case of the red Toyota Venza, the cloned VIN here has an actual timeline which I outlined above. Any vehicle seller, experienced or otherwise, has no business selling vehicles if he doesn't understand the simple concept of vehicle history. Do not advertise or sell what you don't know. |
mayor2013:I assume you're referring to his refusal to provide the VIN for his advertised vehicles because of some fear of VIN cloning. In which case you're quite wrong, and this is very different. For the events described here to have been possible the perpetrators would have needed physical access to the actual physical VIN stamp from the damaged Vehicle. Simply seeing the VIN online wouldn't suffice for the level of detail that went into this counterfeit. |
Not quite. 2017 Honda CR-V Vehicle 2 Specifications: VIN - 5J6RW2H93HL059004. Vehicle 1 appears to have been exported and was cannibalized for parts. 2. Vehicle 2 appears to be a 2017 Honda CR-V of Canadian origin. Note bilingual labels in French/English, Odometer is also displayed in KM, though for this model there is an option/button to switch to Miles. 3. Vehicle 2 cannot possibly bear the same VIN as Vehicle 1. Vehicle 2 has a relatively high quality counterfeit VIN sticker, which includes the VIN and the barcode from vehicle 1. Note fonts, spacing, 4WD vs FWD, Colour codes, among others. 4. Vehicle 2 is a quite expensive, late model vehicle of uncertain origin and provenance, most certainly illegally obtained. VIN cloning par excellence. 5. Nigeria, specifically Lagos State, urgently needs updated and modern automobile safety and security laws/rules/regulations. |

tempex88: You're also lying about phone calls and imaginary buyers now?Well I do wish you good luck with your imaginary phone calls, but if your lies about the views are anything to go by, that advert just might be around for much longer. Well, until one morning you're so ashamed and embarrassed that to save face you type SOLD! TO GOD BE THE GLORY!! We've seen your type before. Nothing new there. ![]() The life of a middleman |
Can you explain why you had to lie about the views? |

tempex88:You know you don't have to look too far to see why that advert is pretty much dead. 1. Compare this advert with your c300 advert. You have 5 random images or thereabouts scattered all over like a farmer feeding his chickens. No good images of the interior, just some offhand askew picture. This seller took the time to post images from various angles, sure, this isn't perfect, and this seller doesn't have the VIN or other relevant information displayed, but it's definitely going to attract a lot more views and interested parties than your ragtag moribund advert. 2. You're a liar, and not even a good one at that. That's a contributing factor to your situation. tempex88:LIE This is a screenshot from July 25 2018. That advert had 1127 views. www.nairaland.com/attachments/7510319_screenshot20180803082523chrome_jpeg4450437dd2cd21a786da8d701315c689 Where exactly did the 578 views yesterday, August 2nd, come from? |
laptopsale:This doesn't excuse you bros. Please provide the VIN for this vehicle Sir. Thank you. |
tempex88:So you somehow managed to amass just 578 views on your advert since March, 5 months ago? You should strongly consider the suggestion to move on to a new business or line of work. But till then, you shouldn't have any problems providing this VIN on that advert. If you lack the courage to provide the VIN on your advert, please don't come to ask someone else to do so. And till you move this VIN over there, you're just blowing hot air. Kindly GTFOH. |
tempex88:Old stories. You and your people need new material. In addition, if you need a request made now on an advert you've had since March but have somehow managed not to sell, then perhaps you should consider a new line of work. I have a feeling this car may have been sold. You should seriously check with the actual owner. |
tempex88:Good Luck with that. PS Check with the actual owner/importer, that vehicle may have been sold. |
tempex88:Seen. Kindly move it over to your advert. |
