calculusx: Since the person saddled with the responsibility of invading our threads with Pre-purchase Pictures and Vin doesn't know how his how to do my job anymore, let me have small sense, swallow my silly pride and do it myself
Damilare7127: WOW. you actually took your time to compose that!
.. interesting.
Keep up with the inane commentary. The fact that a random third party took the time to come up with that should tell you that there's something wrong with this scenario.
chuksanambra: Let's say the truth as it is and not sugar-coat it with niceties.
That SUV was bought into Cotonou and smuggled into Nigeria. Subsequently, there was false declaration made to the Nigerian Customs and some unscrupulous customs officers added the vehicle particulars to their database in Tincan. Hence the papers you have.
Sewell is in Fort Worth, Texas. If the Customs guys asks you to show shipping documents from Texas to Nigeria, you'll have problems cos if you dare present forged documents, na wahala.
Smuggling is a criminal offence, false declaration is an offence, forgery is an offence.
Exposing this thing online is not a smart move by the OP and the dealer.
One look at the thread in the link I posted and the nature of the transaction would be obvious.
From all appearances the manoeuvre by the 'importer' bypassed existing laws and rules.
Both the 'importer' and the buyer seem to have assumed a Machiavellian stance that the end justifies the doer, and that as long as the customs documents appear to be valid, then everything is alright.
Well, to quote the acclaimed 'importer' and agent's response when asked to explain how he managed to procure such documents despite the clear prohibition,
oviecardealer: is simple though is a technical process ....beside this is Nigeria I work with the authority to obtain it.......please kindly settle down and read my write up to understand it well because I have explained it before.....but for security reasons I would not explain step by step but the bottom line is at the end we get the desire results Thanks !
I have a strong feeling that a significant proportion of these scandalous tales are de novo constructions.
New media practitioners have displayed a penchant for propagating such lurid tales, so it's not exactly far fetched to imagine that these are all fabrications.
If you can declare the significant negative, absence of accidents in its history, you should be honest enough to mention the significant positive in the history of this vehicle.
Meanwhile the above VIN does not match the actual VIN. Actual VIN is 1HGCR2F3XGA189729

The VIN was requested, instead of providing it you chose to draw this into a debate about totally unrelated nonsense like import duty and market forces. Was there ever any reference made about the state of the vehicle?
There is nothing wrong with importing accidented Vehicles, just as long as the VIN is provided with the advert.
Not providing it is Lazy, and refusing to provide it is definitely dishonest.
Neither of those are positive qualities for a salesman.
PS
If you wish to advertise and not have comments left on your advert, advertise elsewhere.
I will make a comment, and I have absolutely no intentions of buying anything.
You knew it was necessary to provide all that information, and you asked someone requesting the VIN to give you a call, only to provide the VIN and the rest of that information after the VIN was posted clearly against your wishes.
Now here you are taking jabs at random people.
If you registered on this website in 1990 and you still conduct yourself in this manner then you're much worse than someone who registered 10 minutes ago but has the sense to conduct his/her affairs with common sense.
You're not the first to spout this registering b.s. Duration of membership of this site, much like duration of existence on this planet, is not a guarantee of common sense.
For anyone who actually cares about the context of the memo and the reasons for the response, here's something about James Damore and the memo that sparked a firestorm.
My opinion: James Damore was an insecure individual with more than a whiff of sexist behaviour about him.
Google eventually did the right thing and canned him.
It's alright to have principles, but individual circumstances are almost never the same, and the actions of a few inane members of a commune do not invalidate the positivity of the majority.
