w1234:azam energy drink is currently the most consumed energy drink in kenya, argue however you like, it won't change the fact.. and you know why? the cost! |
w1234:answer me? what is the cause of these wanton theft of public funds? don't even call it corruption? |
mtisTheQubit:so what if i live in kishagi, kisii is a descent town, i have everything i need right here, including cheap data to explore nairaland ![]() |
mtisTheQubit:let me ask you something, you go to clubs or listen to local radio stations, is there any hour that can pass on radio station such as kiss, jambo maisha or even capital fm without featuring a nigerian artist. how many nigerians know local artist such octopizzo, kaligrapgh or even willy paul, on the flipside i bet you know olamide, wizkid, patranking, naira marlay (its a goal) iyanya, brackets.. too many to list. citizen tv the most watched local channel has afro cinema everyday of the week, same to ktn and many other fringe tv stations. can you say the same of our local entertainment sector. stop burying your head in the sand, you know can do better than this. |
Problemkid1:true, i give up on them. |
w1234:why are you lying, azam enegy drink, konyago are everywhere in kenya including nairobi, or do you think i have never been to nakuru? |
w1234:corruption is a problem everywhere in Sub-Saharan africa, our biggest problem in kenya is negative ethnicity, and if we dont solve this problem anytime soon, we will be worse than south sudan, this is what breeds the runaway corruption, my fellow countrymen lets not be politically correct here, speak the truth even if you are a lone voice in the wilderness |
gallivant:hahaha very funny. if ou been keenly following the retail market, you will realise that tanzanian goods have started dominated the kenyan market examples are azam products such as its energy drink, you will find these in every shopkeepers shelf in kenya currently, there rice is everywhere in our markets, onions etc. you may despise them but their manufacturing output has really grown since magufuli came to power, how about our manufacturing sector? its, limping, just waiting to die and be buried, right now kenyans are importing even alcohol from tanzania. |
Yobeezy:nilisema kitambo that kenya iko na vitu mob imeshida nayo nigeria, example ni education sector yetu iko well funded the best in africa currently. |
gallivant:FYI, i dont vacation in Tanzania, i do business in Tanzania. |
rvp2018:everything you ahve written ther are alternative facts, which do not make them facts, life in nigeria is way cheaper than kenya despite their huge population, have you ever heard of ppp, thats why you cannot compare civil servants pay in nigeria and kenya, life is expensive here. |
gallivant:tuko na shida mingi sana kenya, of course siwezi tu anza kuleta stats zinaonyesha tuko chini, niko na so many facts za ku support kenye na sema lakini hii itakua fodder ya wanigeria na tanzanians, lakini kubali nigeria sio rika yetu ![]() |
w1234:this is as a result of return on investment, not because they are lavish than lagos, remember property prices in Nairobi are far higher than lagos, this partly explains the proliferation of slums especially in Nairobi and Mombasa. these foreigners have driven land prices beyond the reach of the ordinary Kenyan. in Lagos with Kes.5 million you can get a nice mansion in a descent middle class estate, what about nairobi? you cannot even buy an apartment in Ruaraka for that price, in Lucky summer estate, a two bed roomed apartment goes for more than 7 million shillings. this is the problem. |
Yobeezy:100% kenyan, ukweli ni kenya tunapenda kubishana hata vitu haziko, huwezi compare nigeria na kenya, the size of their middle class alone is bigger than our entire population. hii tabia ya wa tanzania ya kubishan vitu haziko ni kama imetupata, if its Tanzania nakubali tuko juu yao. lakini nigeria hapana. |
gallivant:buda mimi ni mkenya, sijui hii shida ya wakenya ya ku dismiss divergent opions mmeleta huku, jua hivi. the begining of knowledge is accepting that you are ignorant. i mean nini muhimu ya ku-celebrate kenya kama tu nigeria na hizo zingine, our politics is not whack, our wealth gap is widening year in year out, where will we be when we have the population size of nigeria, hata manufacturing yenye ilikua hope ya kenya, fail below ten percent last year. electricity that w are celebrating is the most expensive in the entire Comesa region thereby stifling manufacturing, unaniambia nini? wewe ndo unaongea gibberish. |
gallivant:i know Kenyans and our foolish pride, unlike many of you, am an open minded person, yes am Kenyan and i come from kisii, right now living in nyamataro if you care to know. no matter how hard you try to push it, Kenya is still below Nigeria, in sub-Saharan africa, it has always been Nigeria, South-Africa, then kenya, although angola is also richer than Kenya. |
gallivant:let me tell you man, every city in africa has a poor side and a rich side, Lagos equivalent of runda, lavington or even karen are far more lavish than these one we call leafy suburbs. i know your a proud kenyan, but be reasonable. |
Yobeezy:i like this tone, lets sober up, and compare like for like. Nigeria is way richer than kenya, am kenyan and i have never doubted this fact. every country in sub-saharan africa has got its strength and weakness, we should also agree that nigeria however rich it is, is still punching below its weight. |
w1234:correct, skills like plumbing, carpentry, welding and fabrication etc are the ones that pays the bills, you can end up in an unemployment corner with a degree but never with these skills, here our Govt as scored big, try visit the technical university and see what the chinese and the kenyan Govt is doing with technical skills education there. |
w1234:buhari made an about-turn, he is actually thinking of signing it, i read somewhere this week, it would be great to have nigeria sign the acfta, they can benefit a lot from it, personal i'd prefer a nigerian dominated african trade over south africa or egypt, they are authentically African |
Problemkid1:I thought Owerri is the movie capital of Africa or is it Enugu? |
the ACFTA I don't know whether that is the correct acronym, has become operational, now that we are here in nairaland, lets take this opportunity to promote peace and trade, i would like to get in contact with a nigerian who can source for me Shea butter, i think naija is one of the biggest producer alongside Ghana, can i get someone to do these biz with. plenty of demand in the cosmetics industry here in kenya. |
68816419:and thats the African spirit, brotherhood, let me tell you the story of Nigerians in Kenya, contrary to what you hear or read in newspapers, there are many Nigerians who are doing legit businesses here, some import toys from U.K, i know one around donholm area in Nairobi, many do online writing and transcription others are students, the truth is that many Africans are always intimidated by the Nigerian confidence. nigerians know that if you can survive in Nigeria, you can survive pretty much everywhere in africa. Nigerian culture is very dominant here in kenya, from movies to music, tv shows and even reality Tv. did you know that nigerian music and movies enjoy more air play than even hollywood in our local media?, i thought you should know |
Problemkid1:Nigerians and there opulence second to none! you will see houses in nigeria you cannot see anywhere else in africa maybe SA. The cars in Lagos streets. no joke. |
w1234:these graduates includes TVETS graduate, and yes the government is trying to channel more students towards TVETS. in the former Nyanza province, the national government is building and equiping TVETS with modern equipment i have never seen before., there is one in Nyabondo,Kisumu county i visited last week, boy i tell you it is modern, i'll post the pics soon. TVETS are the engines that will power kenyas great leap forward. i agree 100% |
on tanzania, i visit tanzania quite a lot, one thing i like about tanzania is the ethnic cohesion there, i mean Tanzanians don't give a damn where you come from as long as you are tanzanian, crime is almost non-existent in tanzania, there is plenty of food, i remember i ate a bowl of goat meat and rice in mwanza early this year for Kes.130, in a descent hotel not a roadside cafe. life is really cheap in Tanzania, for example in Kahama, a mining town, you can get a descent guest house for Kes.400 complete with hot water and a tv. Tanzania is not as backward as many Kenyans have always thought, although kenya is still a bit further ahead in development such education, infrastructure and healthcare, otherwise Tanzania is rising. |
Problemkid1:true, with the coming into power of the current administration, there was a lot of hope with irrigation agriculture as they had promised to put 1 million acres under irrigation, these projects have since collapsed leaving the country vulnerable to food insecurity, right now with the deal to export avocados to china, many maize (corn) farmers are thinking of planting avocados in place of maize which is the country's staple food. i guess we will import more maize from comesa region like never before going forward. |
68816419:thanks for the correction, i almost freaked out like how comes. but i know most of Nigerian budget is supported by local revenues and your budget deficit is not as big as ours, good for you. |
Problemkid1:please do not celebrate internet fraud, its not ethical, and this internet fraudsters bring untold consequences to legit hustlers online, am told paypal is banned in some west African countries due to this vice. |
Kenya has led Africa in allocation of funds to the education sector for the last 6 years, with allocation accounting to over 23% of the national budget, these is one of the reason, Kenyan graduates are more than the entire east Africa graduates combined. education is what will drive Africa going forward not natural resources. |
jokes aside, today i have discovered something really scary, that Nigerian national budget is at 8.9 Trillion naira! or roughly about $25 billion, correct me if am wrong. while Kenyans budget is at $27 billion dollars. Nigeria this is where your problem lies, a small country like Kenya should not have a bigger budget than Nigeria, how much do you allocate for education, healthcare and other esential services with such a small budget compared to your large population? |
68816419:wow this is marvelous, i have never seen this side of Lagos before, especially that oshodi transport interchange, fire!bro. let me tell you, recently one of our media house was in Lagos to benchmark on the BRT project and its successful implementation in Lagos. ours is not even started yet, because we dont even have the enabling infrastructure to support the BRT. Other than the infrastructure, there is the issue of vested interested, its killing the project even before it starts, i wish they learn from Lagos and Dar successes. KUDOS |

most of them are still living in their village, even Nairobi, they don't know the road to nairobi
