Lol@you guys.

Proudlynaija,

Chammy is our best and most effective option. Like Debo already mentioned, he (RvP) is not back to full sharpness.

As per the back four for Chelsea John Terry is not in peak form either and hence Chammy provides that edge that we want over him (Since Terry can be influential in games like this)

If the back four latch on to him, he's got more chances of winning balls through his presence and his aerial threat (than RvP). As rightly mentioned by someone, he is our Drogba equivalent.   Oh, latching on to him will pave way for Nasir and Arshavin to penetrate in my opinion.
i like your optimism. i hope chammy starts after reading the above comment. i will like to hear your opinion after the game with chammy starting and doing f@ck all!

^^

debosky is a fantasist. chamakh won't do nada against terry and ivanovic. robin van persie will cause more problems for chelsea's central defenders than chamakh because the dutch man's technical ability. his techniques around the penalty area draw fouls and if arsenal get lucky, he will win freekicks/penalty easily against chelsea's henchmen. chamakh is worn-out, he needs to be rested for a while. chamakh might be good against the likes of villa, bolton, everton, etc but i have seen enough of him against top defenders to know chamakh cannot dominate top defenders.

I think Id bench Chamakh for this one. I'm almost certain Terry would checkmate his aerial presence so its better we keep the ball on the ground this time. My only fear is I don't know what form RVP is but then Id rather start him ahead of Bendtner.

RVP on the wings won't be advisable. Ashley Cole and whoever is on the left for them will give Sagna issues. He needs all the help he can get.

Chamakh and Walcott should be ready to go in if anything goes wrong (I hope not).

Something tells me Rosicky will start this one beside Song and Cesc ahead of them, Nasri on the right and Arshavin on the left.
i just don't see how arsenal will win the game. a draw is the best arsenal can get from this match. none of the strikers in arsenal will trouble john terry and ivanovic. bosingwa is back and ashley cole has a way of playing blinders against arsenal.

debosky:
^^Proudly belongs to the Chamakh 'isn't good enough crew', basing that on their personal bias not his performances.

Start RVP who had how long against Partizan and was ineffective centrally will suddenly regain full mojo Chelski? Highly unreasonable IMO. . . while he can come up with a moment of genius, we need someone who'll do the simple things and pull the Chelski CBs out of position - Chamakh is the man to do that.

Personally I'd play them both, with constant interchanging to keep the opposition guessing as per my formation above.

After this, play RVP centrally against Wigan and Birmingham and then we'll see how he fares but for goodness sake, don't bench Chamakh in this game.
you are very correct. chamakh pulled rio and vidic out of position more than 20 times. grin

i think the inter goal has to be van persie's best ever and you will admit it pales in comparison to berba's goal against roma. there are techniques and there is the technique. van persie will need another lifetime to replicate that berba's goal against roma. berba is a genius.

so you are claiming berbatov is now running harder or working harder than he did last season? i disagree. berbatov is still the same berbatov. the only difference between now and last season is he has now swapped position with rooney. rooney is now the provider and berba is now the poacher.

is there another techncally-gifted player in the league?

So when the same thing happens in London (and I say London and not the UK like all of you are because the airports in Glasgow, Manchester etc were operating alright during the snow.) why do the media mouth of about London being the only developed city in the world which is unable to cope with snow? huh
because london city gets compared to other european cities like berlin, stockholm, zurich, helsinki, etc and those cities cope quite well with their winter.

Ive only based it on AW's current strategy. Its one of RVP or Chamakh playing so if RVP is on the playing, Chamakh will be on the bench. And if we can bench someone who has scored 8 goals so far in the league, then, I think its even better than RVP being on the bench.

Note, Im basing mine on current situation. If Arsenal, ManU and Chelsea play their strongest 11, we should have a stronger bench.
equally, if united bench berbatov(like they did against arsenal), you have the league's top scorer on the bench. so are you still sure arsenal have a better bench?

with drogba and essien on the pitch, arsenal have not won against chelsea anywhere on the planet. it seems chelsea will tonk them again. arsenal are worse at home than away.

man city(34 years without a title, they have never played in the champions league since it's inception). people also forget man city lost to tottenham at eastlands last season in a match that would have made football fans take them more seriously. a big team should have beaten a fellow rival at home to be in europe but citeh blew it. they are far from being a big team.

About d-grades. If you think d-grades can get one admission into a federal university in naija, well I'm not surprised. After all,you think berbatov is a genius and worths L30M
d-grades can get you admission anywhere in nigeria if you rub the right palms. as for berbatov, he is a genius and he's worth 30 million quid. last time i checked, he's the top scorer in the league despite playing fewer games. then again, i managed to stumble on this statistic.

Goals + Assists in the EPL 2006-2010
1. Rooney 104
2. Drogba 103
3. Lampard 101
4. Berbatov 100
5. Ronaldo 92
6. Fabregas 90
7. Tevez 85
8. Gerrard 84
9. Torres 77
you have to be a fool if you think berbatov has been a flop.

Please let's mark all these people saying we have the best bench in the EPL bar one o. Cos at end of season, I no wan hear excuse that the bench was poor,

@cougar, I think at present considering injuries, Arsenal have the best bench. Any team with RVP, Rosicky, Eboue, Denilson, Diaby, Djorou, Walcott on the bench can boast about having amongst the top second team in the EPL.
I'm even glad this is happening. We shouldn't have any excuse come december. O! I forgot, TV5 is injured. That's why we have been leakinng goals.
rvp is now a bench player? if we apply the same 4-2-3-1 formation to man utd, chelsea, and man city then rooney, anelka and balotelli will be bench players. if arsenal play 4-4-2, rvp won't be a bench player and so on and forth. besides, at the end of the day we are only looking at the strength on paper. it's a different matter entirely on the pitch.

What happened to great managers like Ottmar Hitzfeld and Louis Van Gaal

Van Gaal seem to be the only manager in Rinus Michel school of total football left. The only real manager left playing it.

Hindick has played defensive in some games, Van Marwijk disgraced the Cryuff-Michel school at the World cup and Advocaat is so inconsistent and atimes adopt swift counter-attacking.

But LvG always and always play Total football. A lot of credit goes to him for the Barcelona play right now. He groomed the Xavis of this world who is the world best Midfielder. Great coaches like Mourinho, Pep and even Rijkaard learn under him.

I would think LvG deserves to be on top. IMO
all the things you have stated here hardly matters on the pitch. that lvg have disciples doing well in europe today is hardly a great achievement especially when those disciples have thrown away the ethos of total football. jose mourinho does not play total football. rijkaard mixes it at times and only pep guardiola is consistent with playing the total football.  now what makes fergie great is his ability to stay relevant throughout these years. fergie is an old-skool manager but he has managed to adapt to the new challenges the game keeps throwing at him. the methods in 1978, the 80s, the 90s up to this decade isn't the method being used now and yet fergie is still challenging. that alone is the reason sir alex will be my number one manager.
